In the stunning conclusion to the steamy "Russian Love" series, discover the story of Giovanni and Inessa.
After another confrontation with my monster of a husband, battered and abused, I finally run to the Bratva for protection. They entrust my safety to Giovanni Maglione, the King of the Italian Mafia.
Surrounded by his magnificent presence, my heart begins to heal along with my body. Giovanni's magnetism enflames me just as my inner wounds call for him to possess and protect me.
But then I learn my husband's violence has placed me in worse danger than I ever knew. When he crosses the Chinese Mafia, they see me as the perfect target of their horrifying vengeance. Now, if I want to keep breathing, I must accept Giovanni's hand in marriage. And if our ruse fails, it will launch us into an all-out mob war.
I've been writing stories since I was old enough to put pencil to paper. My mother raised me on books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, Carol Ryrie Brink, Elizabeth George Speare, Marguerite Henry, and Walter Farley. Wilder and Farley are probably contributing factors to my decades-long love affair with horses, particularly Morgans.
Horses comprise a significant part of my life. We didn't live on a farm and my parents didn't like horses, but that didn't stop me. I bought my first horse weeks before my 15th birthday with money earned from working at the family's ice cream parlor. Having passed 50 years old, I still have horses, two of which are Morgans.
In my early teens I started reading romance and fantasy: Danielle Steel, Barbara Cartland, Jude Devereaux, Jayne Anne Krentz, David Eddings, Robin McKinley, R. A. Salvatore, Jack Chalker, Orson Scott Card. Years later, I quit devouring everything the library had to offer and started narrowing my choices. I wrote for the high school newspaper and got a few encouraging nibbles on short stories submitted to magazines.
In college I majored in English, because literature is my "thing." Except, I didn't want to read the musty old stuff written by long dead men; I wanted to write and be read.
Fast forward to now, after 30 years of marriage, two children (one in college and the other serving in the military), I never lost that habit of writing, regardless of how little encouragement--or even active discouragement--I received.
So, now I write romance and paranormal romance. I enjoy writing it and hope you enjoy reading it.
In an unflinching look at the real harshness of ethnic organized crime, the author introduces an amazing variety of memorable secondary characters while keeping the protagonist pair in the spotlight. Russian Pride, though fourth in a series. is a stand alone book. It is a thrilling way to pass a couple of hours with pathos, violence, hot sex, and a totally non-stereotyped cast. One caveat, although previous books in the series are listed as teen and new adult, this one has graphic sex scenes, graphic violence, and realistic language probably not suitable for younger YA readers. So in love with this series. There are quite a few parts where I felt Inesa's character just didn't measure up to a Bratva princess. Manny of the mob guys on either side were so talkative and over stepping the rules of things. However, Magliones Giovanni made everything much better with his cousins. I enjoyed the love story of Inesa and Gio. From her horrible marriage to Ruslan that left her near death after he beat her, to her new found love and husband Gio. Again these stories have some horrible abuse and maltreatment of female characters. These characters just seem to move on with little damage. Wish it wasn't written as so.
Not feeling this one. Although I read every book but one in this series, I completely forgot all the characters so I had no idea who everyone was. The h's abuse was awful but she was rather quick in her assertiveness regarding sex. Didn't make sense for someone who had been in such an abusive marriage for several years. I also didn't like that there were 2 instances of crime families willing to marry off their underage daughters as a business deal.
