There’s nothing wrong with having everything you want and finally enjoying life. Unfortunately, in the case of Isabelle and Stacy, this doesn’t ring true. Returning to their life in Florida, they leave Isabelle’s daughter Hope in North Carolina to run their popular B&B. Their dream of having a home in Nantucket was so close to happening. They seem to have the perfect life, sound business ventures, and a harmonious blended family. But that all changes the night tragedy strikes with a fire that takes more than just Violet’s ranch. Not knowing what else to do to try and hold the family together while steeped in grief, Stacy and Isabelle split ways, but hopefully only temporarily. Stacy goes to their Florida home and Isabelle heads back to North Carolina to run the B&B that is booked solid for the next year. But when a guest has a tempting offer, Isabelle questions her loyalty to Stacy. While in Florida they discover evil lives right next-door, wreaking havoc on an already fragile family. In the tradition of the first novel, this sequel, “The Only Man,” continues to show how one can overcome life’s challenges while discovering what you’re made of. Does true love really exist? And if true love really does exist, can it survive unprecedented grief, long distance and adulterous temptation

Isabelle and her husband Stacy were the owners of The Winding Road Estate Bed & Breakfast in North Carolina. The 1800 historical home had been featured in Southern Living after they renovated and opened the doors for business.
Isabelle's daughter from her first marriage and her husband currently ran the bed & breakfast as Isasabelle & Stacy's main home was located in Florida, but with their daughter being seven months pregnant they decided to spend some time and take some pressure off the couple. It also gave them the opportunity to spend more time with Stacy's daughter and their granddaughter.
Then tragedy hit with a fire which destroyed their home and killed Stacy's daughter, husband and grandchild. Isabelle had been feeling a distance between her and Stacy before the deaths, but now she felt them pulling even further apart.
This is a second-chance romance and even though it is well written and the characters are fully developed I had a hard time connecting. I found the story to be very interesting and very suspenseful further into their story, but with it being written from a third-party perspective I had issues putting myself in the actual story.
I did have an issue with the authorities in Italy and their sharing of information with Stacy - it seemed very unrealistic and unprofessional. And after Isabelle returned to Florida to surprise Stacy, I didn't understand how the staging fit in as no one knew Isabelle was on her way.
The story became very action-packed and full of danger in the last half of the book and you feel for both Isabelle and Stacy in their back luck circumstances.
I loved this book about Isabella and Stacy and I loved how the author treating their story as one of pure love. They are faced with a few very tragic and difficult moments in their life and their relationship but the author handled it all with lots of dignity. A beautiful story of love and family that will warm you and make you believe in good friendships. Hope to read more in this series.

The Only Man is the first novel by KC Poitras that I have read but I will be getting her other work. I love the world-building and the characters. The struggles are real and drag you in keeping you invested in their story long after you have finished the book. I find this to be reminiscent of authors my mom has covering her bookshelf and can't wait to delve into more.
Definitely worth the read!

When I read romance nowadays, I tend to read ones where it builds not when they’re already together. But I enjoyed this book about Isabelle and Stacy who really do go through the ringer as a couple. When grief and serious temptation enter the mix, how they respond is the plot of the story.
* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

A very true to life tale of the struggles a couple goes through. The author did a great job at portraying tragedy, grief and temptation. As someone who is drawn to realistic stories, I thoroughly enjoyed this fast, easy read.
This is the first book I've read from this author, and it definitely won't be the last. It was such a fabulous quick, easy, and sweet story. I love Isabella and Stacy, and the pure love that they share.
I thought this was a nice little pallet cleansing book. A married couple overcoming a few obstacles along the way that are painful and hard but also coming out stronger in the end is always a good story to have. I liked the characters l. Just felt like I wanted a little more at times.
Isabella and Stacy are a couple that you can relate to, the things they go through is raw and believable. A good realistic read. It was written well and my first book from KC and a reason to read more from this author. I recommend reading it.
I received this ARC from the Author and my review is honest and voluntary.
