The character development of the 500 year old vampire was excellent. I've always loved a good monster who doesn't care about the world except for their chosen person. And the way he softened to his two new sired companions was fantastic. He was so heartless and ruthless, that the little moments where he showed other emotions felt powerful.
I'd have given this four stars if the story didn't end where it did. Most of it focused on the mm relationship, and then it abruptly ended sortly after they included the girl into their little chosen family.

Lots of potential, but fell short.
This duet had a lot of potential, but it just fell short in the end and turned into just a huge smutfest with nothing going on.
I'll be honest I found it a bit tiring a d almost dnf the 2nd book.
The first book starts off really well, there seems to be a great plot. But suddenly it just stops. There's no progression and we're basically just stuck in one room after the other.
Her best friend? Completely disappeared and never heard from again.
Jackson? So much potential! But no development! It would have been awesome to go with him on his mission, but instead, we know 0 about it and he returns a day later.
There was so much that could have been explored.

When I first read From Russia With Blood, I had no idea what to expect. But by the end of that book, I did know one thing for sure...I needed more!
You Only Die Twice picks up where the previous book ended and you are immediately launched on a ride with no way to get off (not that you'll want to). It's got twists and turns that mess with your psyche and take you on this twisted journey that is both terrifying and enthralling at the same time (and of course incredibly hot 🔥 🥵 🔥)
This terrifying ride starts off with Katrina confused and unsure of what is real and what isn't. Each day is a hazy blur, with the only source of escape and freedom being found within her dreams. Dreams where her fantasies and limits are pushed to the extreme by both Luke and Jackson.
I didn't think I could love Luka and Jackson any more than I already did, but this book expanded on the layers that were only hinted on in book one. Yes, Luka was still 1000% a villain, and trust me, he always will be (and I wouldn't have him any other way). But he revealed some unexpected layers that really took his character and this book to the next level.
Jackson also surprised me. Despite the new life that Jackson has been thrust into, he still maintains the more noble side of his nature but with a much much darker twist. Seeing him unleash that dark side and embrace his new reality was both disturbing and hot as he!!. 🔥 🔥 🔥
You Only Die Twice was the perfect conclusion to Katrina, Jackson and Luka's story. Hoping to see some side characters get their own books as well 😈

I fell in love with From Russia With Blood..when this was coming up for release I HAD TO HAVE IT!! Opening the story is Jackson newly turned and hanging onto the last bit of humanity. He's been turned originally as a toy for Luka considering Jackson's campaign against Luka. When Katrina wakes up after being taken off the cruise ship, she doesn't really remember what happened. Luka wants to mess with her mind until she is begging for him to rescue her from madness. While she is losing her sanity in a fake cruise ship room Luka tutors Jackson on being his fledgling. Jackson has many talents that the Bratva vampire Luka needs. Ex CIA means Jackson can do alot that others don't have the experience to. As he embarks on a tug of war of dominance with Luka he learns quickly who is in charge. Luka laments about how these two youngsters just can't let go of their morals. I love the humor in this edition. It's makes Luka a little...human. But don't let it fool you. He is ruthless and his punishments are swift and painful. The passion between him and Jackson is wonderful and steamy indeed. The MM action in this book is detailed and hott. Don't forget Katrina. She will be the ultimate treasure for both of them. A toy. After she is turned she will always heal after the rough play with both men. She comes to realize that the undead isn't so bad.
Both youngsters have to be well taught so they are not weaknesses to Luka. But a small kernel of emotion is left in his dead heart. He understands that he cares for these two people he has turned and he will protect them as his mates. Katrina brings the feelings of true love from both vampires.
I am so happy for this book but I am just not done with these three. Now they are in Russia and I am dying myself to see more of this amazing dynamic ❤

You Only Die Twice is the second book in a duet by Vivian Murdoch. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Here is my honest review.....I.NEED.MORE!!!! Now if you are faint of the heart or have triggers please use caution when reading this book it is a dark read. Vivian is waking up my reading tropes with everything that she writes. She is amazing and doesn't hold back with her characters. Jackson, Luka, and Katrina are a love/hate triangle made in heaven or hell whichever way you want to look at it.
You will need to read From Russia with Blood before this book. If you love hot vampires but not the Twilight kind but the From Dusk Till Dawn mixed with Bram Stokers Dracula you will love this book. You will be fanning yourself from the hotness!!!
I enjoyed falling for Luka even more in this book. He is dangerous and delicious. Jackson really was a perfect acquirement for Luka. He came into himself in this book and Katrina was the screw that held everything together for the guys. I loved this book from beginning to end and will be patiently waiting for what she brings to us next.

What an amazing finish to this duet. I already loved every character for different reasons and loved them even more at the end of this. We got a better glimpse into the trio which allowed us to understand the dynamics of the relationship between them. We also got to see each character grow and transform into something truly amazing.
Luka developed a softer side, for a brief minute which allowed us to appreciate the few emotions he did portray. Jackson embraced his dark side and was even hotter in this story than the first. Katarina not only embraced being a submissive, she totally owned it and nothing was beneath her; it was especially hot since two alphas were wrecking havoc on her body, mind, and soul. I’m sad it had to end but can’t wait to see what Vivian has up her sleeve next!

This is the second story in this duet and you must read From Russia With Blood before you read this. The story picks up right where the first one ends, and if you haven't read it you will be lost. With that being said, the first one is fabulous and shouldn't be missed any more than this one should.
This is a dark and twisty tale from beginning to end. It's full of angst, passion, and some of the hottest scenes I've read. I absolutely love the depth of character development and the way their relationships progress. I also love that they stay true to their characters and don't get sappy towards the HEA. It's intense and so many scenes took my breath away. In my opinion, this duet is Ms. Murdoch's best work. I love her contemporary stuff, but her paranormal stuff blew me away. I'm going to rate it right up there with LKH. I can't wait to see what she writes next.

I need more!!!!!! I am in total and complete lust and I am loving every second of it. The dynamic between the three of them was just electric. I loved the closure that both Jackson and Katrina got and it was much deserved. Luka was just the perfect alpha hole who knows where he is on the food chain and gives zero f**ks, but I also loved the small bits of humanity that came out. My only thoughts when the book ended were, I need more, that can't be the end, I need to more!!!!! Also, what happened to Lizzy and Markus????? If you have ever gone through a vampire phase, this book will not disappoint. Read the triggers always!!!!

I loved book 1. Loved Jackson and Katrina, and they way they'd connected with each other, and then Luka... omg Luka. I mean, I've always got a thing for the bad guy, especially if he's a freaking vampire.
He did NOT disappoint. In this book, we see them both under Luka's command, and learn more about him, and the bond he has with his 'offspring'. Jackson, who was already hot as hell, got hotter. Yes. Hotter.
And the relationship between the three of them, the dynamic, the mind games, the sheer wickedness of it. Yes. This is a duet I'll be reading again, because I loved it. Vampires and kink? Yes please. Always.

Vivian Murdoch has done it again. I have been waiting patiently for this book and I was definitely not disappointed. Vivian Murdoch's books are dark but they're definitely worth reading, just be aware. She brings us back into the world of Luca, Jackson, and Katrina and I don't ever want to leave. This is the Duet to From Russia With Blood, where we finally get to find out what happened to Jackson and Katrina after Luca set his sites on them. Jackson and Luca are much more a like then Jackson would ever like now that he is also a creature of the dark. Katrina is kept in the dark about things and thinks are nightly visits are just dreams. Little does she know Jackson and Luca are preparing her for her next life. Luca, Jackson and Katrina are fire 🔥🔥🔥, Vivian Murdoch held nothing back. Luca might be the almighty master but when it comes to Katrina and Jackson he knows that they can get him to feel things he hasn't felt in centuries. These books are definitely worth reading, I wish there was more.

A Thrilling Conclusion to a Delicious Duet
There is so much to love about this book — and the duet as a whole. There was something so dark and yummy about the relationship dynamics of these three characters. I can’t even with how good it was. The intimacy was 100% FANTASTIC! Highly recommend!

OMGGGggg, this series is definitely worth reading 😃. Completely decedent, totally yummy, sick and depraved with all the very BEST of BDSM and Vampires 😍. Thanks so much Vivian, I've fallen in LOVE with the characters and YOUR writing, I can't wait to read more 🤓.

Luca. Jackson. Katrina. This story is dark. Full of spice. And gives us a HEA. If you like dark vampire alpha Hero's and curious heroines you'll enjoy this read.

🩸This book picks up right in the middle of the intensity where From Russia With Blood left off. You are immediately forced into Luka’s dark depraved web and honestly, I didn’t want to leave 😉
It’s hard to go into detail without giving too much away, but I was completely engrossed in the emotions from these characters. Jackson and Luka are two sides to a coin - and their intensity and passion drips from the pages. Katrina is caught up between them and trying to decipher what is real and what is in her head, and how she feels for these men. Is she going mad? Is this real? Guess you’d better read to find out 😜

I got this book and its first one as part of the ABC challenge my book club decided to do. I now have another author on my list that:
- Great writing
- Great plot
- It's a simmering spice all the way thru. Even the slow burn parts are spicy as all hell.
I can't recommend this book enough to the point my entire book club read it too.
