Ana Davenport never believed in magic. It was something that only existed in the pages of storybooks and scribed into legends, but it wasn’t real. It wasn’t, until Ezra Sullivan walked into her world and turned her life, and her heart, completely upside down. Now, she is a witch, with an untameable amount of magic running through her veins that seems determined to obliterate everything around her, while simultaneously pulling her down into the darkness from whence it came. With what little time she has left, Ana must learn to control her newfound magic, before it is too late.

If you loved Whisper of Witches, you're going to love Echoes of Magic even more! It's darker, hotter and the story hooks you faster. Reading Echoes was like calling an old friend and discovering new ones at the same time. I don't want to give anything away, but a certain new character is pushing Ezra off his pedestal! He is HOT and an absolute a'hole! Ana gets a taste of serious tough love from this guy and its fantastic to see! I love how Nikita is able to draw you in with the scene she paints. Her descriptions are on point, making it easy to see what's she's trying to show you. The characters evolve with every page and the story is gripping. Congratulations on another great book Nikita! Book 3 cannot come fast enough lol
I absolutely loved Whisper of Witches and was so excited to read Echoes of Magic and it did not disappoint. A fantastic read, after a few chapters I was hooked, there was so much drama, chaos and of course magic. I loved that we were alongside Ana being introduced to the magical world and how things work, it was exciting. Even though he’s mean I think Silas is an amazing character…and hot. But yes I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for more!

My goodness. Ik kan niet te veel verklappen over dit boek vanwege spoilers voor het einde van het eerste boek, but holy shit I loved this. Het einde heeft een flinke cliffhanger, dus ik kan niet wachten om het laatste deel te verslinden!
What an ending. I'm definitely going to be starting book 3 immediately to find out what happens. It's much darker than book one but just as gripping. We get to meet many more characters here, like Ezras sister and bad boy Silas. 🔥
At the start of the book, the author provides a list of triggers that may affect some people, so please read them.
In September I had the opportunity to read Whisper of Witches. Overall, I thought it was a good book. I ended up rating it with four stars and I looked forward to how the author was going to work out the final events from the first, in the second book. I can tell you that although EOM started in a nice way, the narrative gradually fell apart.
Ana, who now has the magic of an entire coven inside her, needs to learn how to control that magic and Ezra who is forbidden to use his own powers, pledges to help. In the past book, Ana had some actions that resulted in the betrayal of the trust of Ezra's mother and her son, but although the mother has not forgiven, the son insists on keeping Ana around and training her in order to keep her magic balanced. During this process, Ana hurts Ezra a few times. He has no way to defend himself, so he is subjected to the latter's outbursts and Ana spends the book apologizing. She apologizes to Ezra, she apologizes to Abby, she apologizes to Silas, she apologizes without having a reason to apologize. Ana was not the most mature character in the first book, but in this one it felt like we were contantly dealing with a child. This somewhat affected some scenes and hindered her growth.
Other situations in which Ana actively participated and directly caused suffering to the people around her, were forgotten by these characters as if they were events from some years ago. After a funeral, there was a party and two characters were introduced to interfere with the relationship that Ana had with Ezra. I often felt that there was a lack of chemistry between the two. I also felt that the only sex scene between the two of them, was super basic and that the author tried to turn this scene into something she shouldn't have tried. The lack of chemistry ruined everything and I couldn't take it seriously. It lacked intensity. I found the scene superficial. Between having a scene like this that looped several things and not having it, I would rather not have it.
Another thing that greatly affected my rating was the confusion of the plot. I understood zero of it. In one chapter the goal was to train Ana so that she could control her powers, in the next Ana wasn't going to be able to control her powers and was going to end up dying anyway. In other chapters, we see Ezra, Ana and Silas trying to get back a jewel that was supposed to free Ana from having this kind of magic inside her, but when they get the jewel to give to the person who was going to help them, the person says it was all a lie. And then Ana does what? Kills everyone. Simple. Even because if before she couldn't survive with the magic in her body, now the only people who had knowledge about this magic are dead. In the end, Ezra sacrificed himself for Ana (basic, after all he only doesn't sacrifice himself for me because I don't participate in the story).
The author's writing had some odd moments. There were passages where she wrote super well, and consistently about what was going on, and then there were times when everything was a mess. The book seemed to be written by two different people.
Will I read the third one? Probably not.

About My Rating: I hate star ratings. I truly do not like them. They are arbitrary and sometimes misleading. Not everyone has the same taste in books/themes/tropes/styles and I'm sure everyone has loved a book that someone else hate. But, I know people generally find them useful and I know it's important for authors, too. So, with that said, I'm giving this book 4-stars because I enjoyed it. Writing is hard and I appreciate anyone who can come up with a good story AND manage to actually get it on paper and published for everyone to read. There are some elements with the author's craft overall that I think could use with a bit of work, but Whisper of Witches and Echoes of Magic are still solid reads. I am looking forward to reading more about Ana, Ezra, Silas and Abby in the next book which, I'm sure, will be even better.
Echoes of Magic by Nikita Rogers
A simple work assignment turned deadly for Ana. A broken relationship with her best friend, a fresh scar on her stomach, and a deathly touch, she grappled the sharp new direction of her life and the power swirling inside of her. Faced with the challenge of controlling the magic before it controls her, she is forced into this new world in a literal baptism of fire. Ana’s life is thrown into utter chaos and, as the darkness descends, she fights to save what little she has left; Ezra and her soul.
Echoes of Magic by Nikita Rogers is the second book in her debut Whisper of Witches series. If you like a paranormal romance, I encourage you to check out Whisper of Witches. It’s an easy read with a unique premise that you will enjoy if you liked The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling.
The Pace Echoes of Magic was a fun, quick read. Although it wasn’t a book that I needed to plow through in one sitting (for which I am known to do), it hooked me well enough to read its 324 pages (Kindle edition) in about three days. The magic system is easy to understand and there aren’t a lot of complicated concepts to muddle through (which is always a bonus for my fried brain at the end of a long day).
The Characters Admittedly, I wanted to give Ana a good shake through the first half of the book and Ezra could have used a sharp slap upside the head with his quasi-friend zoning business, ugh. But, dark Ana is a bit of a badass and the ending of Echoes of Magic paved the way for a gloriously tortured Ana. She is already struggling to resist the numbing allure of her power within so there's no doubt that she will be faced with a multitude of moral dilemmas and hard choices.
In Echoes of Magic, we are also introduced to the coven council members, Silas, and Abby. There is definitely something fishy going on with Ezra and Anora, ew. And there’s more to Silas that I hope will be revealed in the next book. I’m a big fan of Abby’s character and I loved her role in the story.
I don’t know if it’s just me, but I get the feeling that there’s a hidden, darker side to Ezra. I have a suspicion that everything isn’t as it seems with him. He seems almost too nice. Maybe he and his father were actually colluding together? Or maybe he is just a super decent guy? Let me know if you picked up on that vibe or not.
The Originality Nikita Rogers does a good job at incorporating popular themes and tropes in Ana’s story. From Ana and Ezra’s ‘insta-love’ to Ana’s ‘fish out of water’; paranormal experience, Echoes of Magic slots well into the paranormal romance genre. And, with the introduction of Silas, there is a bit of a love triangle vibe that fans of the trope will like (I personally don’t care too much for a love triangle drama).
The Tropes: - Magic - Witches - Hidden/Secret Power - Hidden/Secret Identity - Love Triangle-ish vibe (maybe for book 3?) - Dark Secrets - a dash of Forced Proximity - Prisoner - Slow Burn - Fish out of Water
The Spice... There are spicy scenes though it’s more of a slow burn and Ana (or rather dark Ana) has more exciting tension with Silas than with Ezra. But I’m not sure where the spicy level is going to go for the next instalment given how this book ended. There are a lot of loose ends to tie up and Silas is too yummy to go without staring in any spicy scenes of his own.
Nr. 2 bog I whispers of witches serien. Ana står pludselig med magi løbende gennem hendes åre, Ezra må stå til regnskab for hans brug af magi. Og nye karakterer introduceres.
Review in English: It took me a while to pick this up, but I finally felt that it was time to read this. This book pics up a little time after the events of the first book and we are entering a world/society where magic is real. This book, as the first, is very descriptive, which creates the perfect atmosphere for the witchy aesthetic that this book is all about. It’s beautiful, eerie.
In this book Ana has to come face to face with the magic running through her veins and learn to either control it or risk hurting the people she love. This book has very high stakes which I really enjoyed and it truly felt like there was not gonna be an easy solution to the conflict, which I couldn’t predict either, which was great and did had me intrigued throughout the book. There is also way more magic use in this book and I feel like we get introduced to a little more world building, though I do feel like the world building lacked something which hindered me from getting fully emerged in it which also prevented me from getting too addicted to this book.
Now let’s talk about the new characters. I LOVE Abby and I wish she had more page time, I want more of her. And Silas, oh Silas, the morally grey character who is brutal and merciless but he does care about the people around him (except Ezra, that situation is just a whole mess but I also feel like theres more to it and the situation with Anora). I loved Silas. And tbh I would have loved to have had Silas’ POV and also Ezra’s, I just crave to know what they feel and think. Okay now to Ezra and Ana. They’re so cute!!!! Ezra is so protective which is so cute!
Okay, and now to the ending… OMG the ending. WOW. That ending was so good!!!!! I LOVED it. I felt like the conflict came to a peak and all the thing in the book culminate in the most perfect way and it had me gasping!!!
So overall, the first few pages were a little bit slow and the world-building was good but not perfect. The pacing was good and matched the pace of the previous book. The plot was great with high stakes, new characters (that I love) and even more magic. I definitely will look forward to the next book in the series and in the meantime I think I will put ’screams of the damned’ higher on my TBR list (though no promises since Im the biggest mood reader). And I definitly recommend this series, check it out if you love witchy urban fantasy with amazing characters.
The Whisper series is breaking me down … in the best ways 🥹😱💜
You know that feeling of having to re-read the last lines over and over because you can’t BELIEVE what you just read? Well, that’s what the third book in the series does.
313 pages and it’s a rollercoaster of emotion and action and the unexpected.
I was trying so hard to savour ‘Echoes of Magic’ but I finished it within a few hours.
This one doesn’t bide it’s time in pulling you in. The reader starts right where Whisper left off and launches us into a darker, thrilling, and suspense filled story where anything can happen. And I mean, 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.
Each chapter just gets better and honestly, I didn’t know what was going to happen. Old and new faces, we delve deeper into a darker world full of witchcraft, power feuds and passions that are put to the test.
Without giving anything away in the storyline, all I will say is that the suspense from each novel just keeps getting better and I love the protagonist. There’s a lot more to her than meets the eye, and I’m guessing we’ll see more of this in the next one (which is worth waiting for).
Not shocking anyone when I give it another 5/5 🤣
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
Read this series people!! I need to gush regularly about it.
There are a few issues that could do with some polishing but, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the second instalment in this series. The story itself is engaging and fast-paced. I appreciated how the story developed and the direction set up for the next book.
It was interesting to meet the wider coven and see how magic is wielded in this world. Silas was a strong addition to the cast and I hope we get more of his background in future books. Abby (Ezra's sister) was another welcome introduction after only hearing about her in book one.
The violence was definitely more explicit in this book but the author provides content warnings at the start, which is always a great sign. I'd highly recommend this series if you're looking for a witchy October read.
I immediately downloaded it after reading book 1. I loved the character growth of the FMC (Ana), she found her confidence at times it was dark, but overall, she is still the woman Ezra loved.
The introduction of new characters added a whole new level of interest to the storyline. Silas came across as a moody and grumpy man. However, I get the feeling that a certain witch will bring out the caring and passionate side.
Ezra had a few emotional hurdles to overcome, but his love for Ana was all it took to overcome those obstacles. I was frustrated by their relationship and was overjoyed when they got their moment, but of course, the author decided to end the book with a heartbreak cliffhanger. Needless to say, I'm waiting for book 3.
Witch stories always have a special place in my heart, and Echoes of Magic is no exception. 🖤 The world Nikita Rogers created is enchanting, and I couldn’t get enough of it. That’s also my only tiny critique – some scenes felt a bit too short for me. I just wanted more time to fully immerse myself in the magic and drama! 😭
Ezra, though. 😍 He’s such an incredible character, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the final book (even though I’m sad it’s the last one 🥺).
If you’re into witches, compelling magic, and characters you’ll totally fall for, this is definitely worth picking up! ❤️🔥
I prefer this one over the first time. I almost read it in one breath. This book kept me on the edge until the last page. I cried, I laughed, I celebrated. Easy read. I wish characters were bit better done than this. That ending has left me speechless and shocked. I love how this one has more magic and some unexpected bits. Some parts were just unpredictable. Worth reading if you liked the first book. Onto the next one.
Amazing, had me hooked from start to finish. If you enjoyed the first book in the series then you're gonna love this. In my opinion it's not only Nikita's best but one of the best books I've read in a while.
Gripping storyline, intriguing characters, great fantasy and slow burn romance. What more could you want?
Another brilliant read by Nikita. The characters are well formed and the plots kept it interesting. The book was engaging from the very first chapter, straight away you were able to carry on from the previous book. Kinda liked Silas alot more than I thought I would and Ezra's story truly showed his character. Fantastic the whole way through but that ending!!!! Now gotta wait for the next book.
Great second book in the series. Going through the notions of the Marion magic within Ana, her training, her beable to control, more of Ezra 🫶, this was more story telling than having true stories in then like the first however it was still a very good story. I was 100% crying and a point!! I have to now quickly move onto the third book!
This is Nikita Roger's second bookand it certainly doesn't disappoint. I feel bad for Ana and Ezra now that Ana's magic is dark. I can't wait until the book. If you are into witches and are looking for a good Halloween read this book is definitely for you.
I absolutely loved this story! I loved following Ana and her new normal and learning about her new life and where she fits in. I also loved the new characters. I hope we hear more about them in that future! Bravo Nikita!
*4.5 stars* MY GIRL ANA DID NOT HOLD BACK IN THIS ONE also spoiler but also not spoiler I ship Silas and Ana too much. That’s the hill I’m dying on, sorry not sorry.
THAT ENDING !!!! OMG THAT ENDING!! I NEED BOOK 3 LIKE YESTERDAY PLS AND THANK U 🥹
The first one was good because it was a little cutesy, but this was trying too hard to be edgy and angsty. Also we’re really just going to gloss over the fact that Ana burned her boyfriend’s father at the stake and no one actually mourned him or got mad at her? What?
Loved book 1 and the prequel. This was just as good and now cannot wait for the next in the series. Awesome job Nikita. Must get another tattoo sorted too 💜🥰
