Rebel Cyborgs #5

Seizing Power

Rate this book
This cyborg believes he’s in control.

Power is the self-appointed leader of the cyborg council. Other members might debate situations. He makes the ultimate decisions.

When a threat to the Homeland is revealed, he takes command of a fleet and ventures to the edge of cyborg-controlled space to investigate. He finds a rebellion led by a mysterious upstart he calls Cadet.

The plan Power derives is simple—he’ll quickly quash the uprising and teach its leader a lesson the warrior will never forget.

NO ONE challenges his authority.

Eirene Ours might have been called a cadet by Power but she is NOT his subordinate. She is the arrogant E Model’s genetic match.

For much of her mature lifespan, she has desired the male, yearning for his dark-eyed gaze, craving his sure hands, longing for his respect.

That esteem was never granted. And Eirene Ours can no longer wait to earn it. There’s an external threat to their kind, a danger that might destroy them all.

Having lured Power to her home terrain, she now plans to use everything within her means - her fists, her daggers, her ship-destroying missiles – to pound that truth into her stubborn warrior’s thick metal skull.

The future of every cyborg is at stake. She can’t fail them.

Power will believe her. Or he will die.

When two alpha leaders come together!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😟🤭😤☺️

The Hero: Power - he is the self-appointed leader of the Cyborg Council and has been since the cyborg rebellion and the founding of Homeworld (the first planet that the cyborgs found and took as their own. He is an E model and is set in his ways. He makes the ultimate decisions about what the cyborgs should be focusing on, and in building their society to make sure they are protected so they will never again be under the control of others like the Humanoid Alliance. He once made a wrong decision that had catastrophic consequences for everyone he loved and it endangered Homeworld. He promised himself after that, he would keep himself at a distance from others in order to make more informed decisions.

The heroine: Eirene Ours (a.k.a. Cadet) - she is the first freeborn Cyborg and only freeborn cyborg female, the product of a cyborg C model father and a human mother. Her mother and father first located on the planet of Mercury Minor because her father was damaged and saw other cyborgs as a threat, they still live on their own land. Eirene has known for a long time that Power was her fated mate. Though she hated him with a vengeance. At one point he called her Cadet because he thought she was just an underling of no value. She never shows her face to him when she intercepts his communications and speaks with him and uses a voice modulator, so he thinks she is a male.

The Story: - Cadet has asked Power many times for permission to retrieve cyborgs that were left alone during the cyborg rebellion, either still in the hands of the Humanoid Alliance or abandoned on various planets throughout the galaxy as slaves, on dead planets with no way off or being sold for parts. He didn’t think that was the primary mission of their people, so she gathered a team and does retrieval on the down low. However, the Humanoid Alliance is becoming a problem again and he won’t listen to her arguments, so she means to show him how wrong he is about not getting involved.

“I have more urgent priorities”.
And he would never again assign retrieval missions to warriors. That task was too dangerous to force his brethren to undertake.
You have more urgent priorities. The simulated laugh on the transmission line held no humor. Like adding fifteen levels to J Model Structure 2? Is that more urgent than saving the lifespans of our brethren?

I liked this story from the start, especially since in every book prior to this one in the series, we have seen Cadet as the strong leader of the retrieval teams and Power as the stiff and uncompromising leader of the council who is unwilling to see the big picture. So, when he hears that over 5000 cyborgs, plus many humanoids and humans have been detected on Mercury Minor, he is determined to investigate the situation himself. Cadet is ready for war.

I liked the story, but I didn’t like the female domination vibes that were throughout their intimate scenes. Power was into pain and liked it when Cadet kicked him and stepped on him during their battle. There was also a scene where she made him kiss her boots and more. I mean people like what they like and that is ok, but I like more of a take charge kind of alpha Hero, not one that likes being beaten down and dominated. Other than that, I did like the two badass characters and their story was a good one.

For at least 10 books, Power has been far less than likable, and for the Rebel Cyborgs series, Cadet has been awesome. I wasn't certain the author could turn this around to make Power worthy of Cadet, but it worked fabulously, with an appropriate amount of groveling on the part of the 'cyborg king.'

In previous books, Power hasn't been the most sympathetic of cyborgs. He's rigid, unbending, and he refuses to send cyborgs out to help those who weren't freed in the cyborg revolt. That last one is NOT okay with Cadet/Eirene Ours. She's dedicated to helping all the cyborgs who weren't freed in the initial uprising and Power's refusal to help hits her on a personal level.

After all, her father was one of the ones left behind and Eirene Ours is going to do everything she can to help those like him. Even potentially give up her chance at her genetic match.

Given that these cyborgs are desperate to meet their matches (Power included, as he's shown in the past), that's saying a lot to her dedication to the cause.

Fortunately for Power, Eirene Ours gives diplomacy a try. Well, she's diplomatic for a cyborg. By that I mean, there's a lot of grappling and fighting and more than a few threats. She uncovers the reason Power does the things he does and helps him unbend a little. Tiny bit.

A little violent foreplay, a standoff between factions, two insatiable cyborgs, and a whole lot of familiar faces. The cyborgs have come a long way since their imprisonment and they're still going strong. *thumbs up*

Powers story

Been waiting for his story!
Power is the Cyborg Council leader. Ever since he was first introduced in the series, I figured he was misunderstood and had deeper reasoning for always sounding so cold. This book delivers on everything! I live how Power and Cadet come together and the way Power changes some in order for Cadet to understand him and hopefully fall in love with him......loved this story! What a great addition!

A grand series finale!
I didn’t expect to love Power, he was so incredibly arrogant. All that changed when Eirene Ours revealed herself to him. Seeing them meet and work out their relationship is simply amazing. At times, I was in tears. Nothing could make me happier than seeing this relationship thrive between two strong leaders whose love is deep and enduring!
A fantastic ending to this cyborg series. I can hardly wait for the next series to begin!

Love These Characters

These colorful characters are full of fight, hot sexy romance and fun. They are always up to some sort of activity -- usually some kind of contact sport. 😉 I'm 100.0000% sure I love this story. Odds are you will too. Enjoy!

This story was well worth the wait. Power finally met his match and had to admit that feelings made him a better leader. Great read!

I was really looking forward to this story, but I still didn't believe I would understand the choices Power had made and his reasoning for it. The fact that I do, means Cynthia had this well thought out and I think she more than delivered on his and Eirene mine's story. Good read.

I liked it. But I prefer the books with human heroines (Cadet/Ours is a female cyborg, the only born female cyborg in existence).

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

She and Power end up deciding to unite the rebels and the Homeland cyborgs. They will go out and continue rescuing the trapped cyborgs.

My favorite part of the book was when she revealed her talent of finding genetic matches for cyborgs (their fated mate). You heard individual recordings of women introducing themselves and saying Cadet saved them over the transmission lines and they are looking for a friend/partner. And the cyborgs immediately responding saying they are coming and so happy to meet them. I teared up.

Cadet wanted to show her talents and unite the cyborgs since they all want to meet their genetic match. And she can recognize them when she hears them.

Power eventually apologized and it turns out he had a reason for not rescuing the cyborgs. He previously ordered a rescue mission and all of the cyborgs died.

This is the last Rebel cyborgs book. The next arc in the series will be Unity cyborgs (now that the Rebels and Homeland cyborgs are friends and united).

Finally!

I have been waiting for Power to get his comeuppance for so long, and the fact that it's Cadet that hands it to him is perfect.

Cadet, AKA Eirene Ours and Eirene Mine, is really awesome. I love me a good C model any day of the week, and she is just 100000% better, I think. I would not cross her, not one bit.

Power met his match!

Hee hee…Power met his match in Cadet! I would love to have been there when she revealed herself to Power. I’ve been waiting so long for his comeuppance. It was wonderful to see him grovel! It was also wonderful to get to know the “real” Power. A wonderful story all around.

Seizing Power

Power was determined to be a strong leader for all cyborgs but his heart’s desire was to have his own female. He finally realized that Cadet was his female when they came close to war. Cadet just wanted Power to realize every cyborg needed to be saved. Now if they could only stop fighting long enough!!! Highly recommend this book and series.

Seizing Piwer Rebel Cyborgs book 5 by Cynthia Sax

Everything you could want in a storyline and more additional crucial characters from this series finally get their storyline told. So don't miss out on any of these wonderful books, but each one can stand alone with no cliffhanger. I'm highly recommending this entire series!!

I was expecting more but it wasn’t bad what I got. I wanted more world settling. This book was about two leaders combining. While it did offer that it wasn’t enough. A lot was left hanging. I guest it to keep readers coming back. Idk.

I will look for sneak peaks on this couple on the author’s website. Enjoy.

love, love Cadet and Power

A true love story. As with all our Favorite Cyborgs, all they want is love; to find that one being they can love, be loved and have a family. Their story was a long time coming and so glad it did.

Who'd a thunk?

Personally, I never would've thought Power had it in him! I should've known - ALL of the cyborgs are extra special in some way. Poor Eirene Ours, not knowing the true type of cyborg... Definitely a must read!

Huh! Didn’t expect my mind to change that fast! I’ve been dying books ago for Power to be finally blasted into outer space. Or have him disassembled in the most excruciating way. Nope! Felt so bad for him, glad he finally met Cadet.

Seizing Power

Cadet is a cyborg who causes the arrogant Power to rethink his whole projected persona when he finally sees his nemesis. Cadet does not back down and the sparks fly.
