Ten hard-as-nails women face off in an ancient contest of champions where the winner truly takes all: the title of "Queen of the Galaxy." To win the challenge each contestant must survive the hazards of the planet's harsh landscape, the ferocious predators on and below its surface, and their fellow contestants. This edition of the contest has a twist: one of the contestants is an infiltrator who has her eye on something bigger than the prize. Who is she and what does she really want?
The second of three children, Frank Cho was born in Seoul, Korea in 1971, but moved to the United States at the age of six and was raised in Beltsville, Maryland.
Cho received no formal training as an artist. He got his start writing and drawing a cartoon strip called University2 for The Diamondback, the student newspaper at the University of Maryland, College Park. After graduation, Cho adapted elements of this work for use in a professionally syndicated strip, Liberty Meadows.
A continuation of the story,we're down to two contestants and in the background we find out more of the knowledge that all is not as it seems!!!can't wait for the next one!!!
Comic survival contest alternate universe Frank Cho shows us again why he's such a popular artist. The story is unsavory, however. The winner becomes the ruler, but is isolated, and there are huge incentives to keep the winner from conceiving so that she is deposed and another ten women have to survive by making sure the others don't. And the deposed monarch? Implications are she is quietly executed. This a very dark tale.
If the story ended here it would be half decent. Here, the nonsensical elements could still be mostly ignored. But issue 5 just vomits all over this story.
Issue #4 is where the story should have ended.
If anyone ever sees this having not yet read issue 5, learn from my mistakes and avoid issue 5 like the plague. Whatever ending you can imagine in your mind is better than the disgusting vomit that was issue 5.
This is torture, man! I mean, stopping at this stage? It's excruciatingly painful, like a devastating upper cut from Xandra Blackwater. Moving on to the last part now. And if you can get hold of this one, just read it, OK?
Well that was perhaps the best issue so far. The one on one trial by combat was genuinely tense and gripping. I'm quite curious to know what the final issue will bring now.
