Anyhow this book had better be called Moonlark and I feel like the cover's either just going to have Sophie on it, or the entire friend group. I'd prefer the second one because poor lil Dex deserved to be on another cover 🥲

Sophie and Hope are going to kick everyone's butts in the epic battle at the end, it's not up for discussion, thank you.

I'll be impatiently waiting until next year 😔 Well at least it better be next year and not another two year wait....

Shannon Messenger just announced she is pregnant with baby #2. Don't get me wrong, that's AWESOME news. But she also announced that because she is having another baby, Untitled will not be released until 2024.

Do you guys realize what this means???

I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand, I don't think you can complete all of the missing information and plot threads in one finale but on the other, this series is getting a little too long. Just hope we get a satisfying ending.

also the fact that i shelved this in 2022 when i was a kotlc fandom newbie (of 3 years so not rly ig) and now i'm a literal veteran 😭😭

So we’re getting a title reveal and the first chapter in the new version of Unraveled. And the title is coming out on Instagram tomorrow. It’s not a lot, but after three years of waiting, it’s something. My biggest concerns are 1) she said the first chapter will leave us with more questions than answers and 2) she said this was a “super-early sneak peak of book 10” which BEST NOT mean we have to wait any other 1-3 years 😭

Update: It’s called Elysian! Quite predictable but I’m still pumped :)

Update: So I read the first chapter. Here is all the things I need to rant about
1) Elysian. Of course I need to rant about the lady the book is named after. Except I lowkey liked her? She seemed to just be an introverted old lady who just wanted the violent people to get out her house. And she has a conscience! She hated watching what happened to Vespera! But she does NOT look like that!! We all had this image in our head where she had either silver or black hair, right? WRONG! Apparently she’s a redhead and that doesn’t sit well with me. But yeah it looks like she won’t be a major villain which is cool. I honestly don’t care that she’s not tryna make an alliance with the good guys either. Girl is tryna stay out of that and I respect it. But I neeeeeed her backstory. Girl is super old so she must know all kinds of things that she didn’t mention which is understandable that she didn’t pour out her life story to a bunch of strangers but I need to know! Since Shannon has named the book after her and said she’s like the biggest plot twist ever, I know she’ll have a bigger part later on and I’m so excited! Her character is so interesting and I need to know everything. And I’m so relieved that Gisela didn’t know she was a person 😅
2) The romance. Guys I’m scared. Please please please tell me this won’t turn into a romance novel. I love Sokeefe to death but that’s NOT what I came for. But, on the other hand, I disagree with the people I’ve seen complaining about the flirting in the first chapter. I thought it was cute. Was it the right time? No! But he acknowledged that. He was literally just doing what he’s been doing the whole series: distracting Sophie so she doesn’t spiral. Which can I mention is the sweetest most cutest thing ever! But he didn’t have his ability to do it the way he normally does, so he improvised. I think it worked even if the timing was a lil awkward.
3) Keefe. Oki I lowkey loved his little speech. Shannon just called herself out for writing filler content through one of her characters 😭 I am very worried about both Keefe’s physical and mental wellbeing after that ending. But I like that we’re finally getting some action. I was certainly not okay with that little foreshadowing with the “you never know when it’ll be the last time” thing. It breaks my heart that he accepted that he might die.
4) Theories. 1) Lady Gisela isn’t dead. She has too many plans to be carried out and too much backstory we don’t know about yet. Plus Shannon wouldn’t kill off her two major villains in one scene, right? 2) Keefe will be fine physically. Realistically, there is no way she’s going to kill off the character who is keeping the story going. There’s way too much storyline riding on his shoulders and way too much foreshadowing of things that still haven’t happened to him yet. Plus, if Shannon doesn’t have the emotional capacity to kill off Sandor, there is NO WAY she could pull if killing Keefe. 3) Something bad is gonna happen to Keefe mentally. Like really bad. I don’t know if his mind is gonna shatter or if his mom will find some kind of creepy way to mind control him, but it’s gonna be bad. And it’s gonna hurt me because I love him so much. But he’s been spiraling for a while let’s be real. And if trying to kill his mom isn’t gonna break him, she’s gonna break him herself. I’m still not over that one “not just make him powerful but obedient” comment in the last book. 4) Elysian is gonna break up the fight between Keefe and his mom and is going to reveal what kind of power she has in the process. We already know that she doesn’t like how violent the battle in the last book is, so it can be assumed that she won’t like that Keefe stabbed his mom. She already said they’d regret it if they tried to hurt her. I feel like the same extends to if they hurt each other. Who knows? Maybe she’ll even do something all weird to Keefe since she’s supposed to be some part of his legacy or whatever. 5) The whole “they lost their powers” thing is just temporary. I mean come on now. What would be the point in Sophie having 685367468 abilities just for them to be taken away. 6) Kenric knew more than he let on. I think he met Elysian, maybe even knew her personally. Because Elysian said that the whole losing abilities thing is “just something that happens”. That suggests that it’s happened before. I think it happened to Kenric. And I think they’re going to look at some more caches and they’re going to find out more. 7) Elysian was a councilor. I kinda just came up with this on the spot but hear me out. She knew Fallon as a councilor and seemed to have some influence on him if she convinced him to destroy the stone thingies. Maybe because she was on the council? Maybe she is a Vacker? I guess we’ll find out.
5) Questions:
Elysian: How did Elysian end up in Elysian Fields? Are they named after her? She said she’s there voluntarily, but why? She’s spending her life hidden in this prison of illusions and for what? Did she create the illusions herself? What did she do to be hidden the way she is? Did she hide herself? Did she actually do anything wrong?
Keefe’s Legacy: If Elysian is a person, what the heck does that mean for Keefe? Is she gonna do something to him? Does her power have some kind of effect on him? And if this whole Stellarlune process is Gisela’s life work, how did she not know Elysian is a person? Is it the rocks, the place, or Elysian herself that is this mysterious “third step of Stellarlune”?
Random: WHERE IS RO? IS SHE OKAY? SHE BETTER BE OKAY! We discovered that Jensi is probably talentless in the last book, but how is that gonna play into things? Same with Rex. Is his talentlessness gonna be relevant? Is Sandor okay down there? Are we ever gonna find out about Prentice’s swan song? Does it have something to do with Elysian? Did he know Elysian? Is Cyrah related to Elysian? Are the Black Swam and the Neverseen even relevant at this point? Are we ever gonna find out all of Forkle’s identities and the collective’s identities? What’s up with the trolls? Are Dex and Biana finally gonna get together? Who is Gisela tracking that isn’t Keefe? They moved on from that wayyyy too quickly. What actually is Keefe’s ability and what was he talking about when he said there was like another well of power in him? How is Eleanor gonna be relevant in all this? Is Alvar gonna show up again? Can Fitz and Keefe please find time to sit down and talk stuff out? How is everyone gonna react to Sophie and Keefe? Since Shannon has made it clear that she reads our stuff online with Unraveled, will she kill Fitz? (Please don’t)

Oki I think I’m done. That felt good. All that to say: Shannon, I am so incredibly excited for book 10. Please don’t mess it up. And please release it ASAP. This cliffhanger isn’t as bad as the last one, but I still need so many answers. Also, can we applaud Shannon for making such an interesting series that I can rant on for this long about 14 LITTLE PAGES? It’s amazing honestly. I hope y’all enjoyed my rant! I’m sure there will be more to come when book 10 comes out. 🫶
