I am not going to read any more of this series. Carl is supposed to be a super soldier to a point. He is supposed to be intelligent. He has been in numerous situations before apparently, and fought well. So why has he been made to look a complete weak buffoon in this continuing story. In my opinion he comes across as a complete idiot. And the incessant need to state when he changes that these have never been seen before outside a laboratory. Do we really need to be reminded every time his body gets flushed with whatever enhances him. I found myself skipping gym pages to get the book finished. It no longer held any excitement or suspense because you knew what was coming. The storyline lost a lot of appeal and anticipation. It seemed to struggle for cohesion. Sorry, but I can no longer find anything good to say about this story. It is so weak!!!!!
Repetitious, repetitive, takes far too many philosophical side trips which are full of stuffy speculation. The author has the bones for a great tale but failed dramatically to give it life. He seems to rather enjoy daydreaming down a multitude of bunny trails. I really got the impression that this story was written under a tight deadline and never allowed the time to breathe. Sad
Book 2 has errors throughout. The characters have not changed or developed in their tactics or overall progression to progress. The plot is okay, but mostly the same as book 1, only on a different planet. The MC also seems to pass out a lot and this ending the book, which has come repetitive and information has become somewhat predictable.
What a cracking storyline well worth 5 stars. The only issue I have is that Carl has been out for five years and now they bring him back in and send him straight out in unfamiliar year on the spot training can be good but not in a life and death situation..
Carl is becoming increasingly more integrated into his Pillarmen team, although he still disagrees with some of the methods used. But he is less of a single minded shock trooper than before.
Part science fiction, Part science fantasy. Yet another super soldier fighting xenomorphs. Internally inconsistent, and once again, Marines is always capitalized
Character development continues and the action is great. One small continuity issue where a rifle is used to jam a door, then the character has the rifle as he flies through the air before he loses the rifle again. Otherwise good story.
Pretty well written and entertaining. Some Parts a little repetitive but plenty of good action fights. Like the shorter 1 or 2 day reads so can get on to the next one.
