Harper Shadow Academy #1-5

Harper Shadow Academy

Rate this book
This box set includes all five books in the Harper Shadow Academy series. Buckle up for a magical ride full of adventure, suspense, and heart-wrenching romance.
A cursed witch, four intriguing young men, and a shadow realm hidden within their academy.

My name is Willow Oliver, and I’m descended from a bloodline of powerful yet cursed witches. At least, that’s what my mother claims. Most people think she’s crazy.

I never put too much thought into it—the whole being a witch thing—I assumed my strange quirks were something everyone else had.

Flowers don’t glow when you look at them?

When others my age go off to faraway colleges and escape our sleepy town, I stay close to home so I can continue to keep an eye on my mother.

My new academy buzzes with a familiar energy. One that half the student body doesn’t seem to notice. The others simply disappear through hazy shadows, vanishing into thin air. Three of the four men I’m magnetically drawn to have skin that feels like electric when we touch, something magical hidden under the surface of each of them.

The more I uncover, the more I doubt my sanity, making me consider one of two things: I’m going crazy, too, or maybe my mom was right after all.

And if what she said of our lineage was true, will I be strong enough to face the ancient curse that is stealing our power? Or will I succumb to it while risking the lives of the ones I can’t help but care for?

Willow never experienced a true childhood while looking after her mentally ill mother. Her uncle decides to put his foot down and gently demands her to experience what it's like being young by going away at college. As a compromise, Willow joins Harper Academy, a short drive from home so she can be there for her mom on the weekends. Being at Harper Academy brings new friendships, but also plenty of worries. Willow starts seeing things that aren't there, making her wonder if she's going crazy just like her mom. Or is something else going on at Harper Academy?

This boxset holds the entire Harper Shadow Academy series. Where the first book is mostly an introduction into the world of Harper (Shadow) Academy and all the characters from the series, the other books have a distinct storyline with enough surprises along the way to keep things interesting. I liked the concept of the series, the urban fantasy setting and the different characters that are a part of it. This series features an fmc with a lot of inner strength who chooses love above all else, and the sweet men who love her just as much. These characters absolutely know how to wurm themselves in your heart.

I loved it!

Look, I am not the biggest fan of paranormal, but I do enjoy it from time to time. This book or series was a wonderful story, with a great world built into it, and characters that grow along with the story arc. I love Willow and her willingness to put everyone above herself. She’s fiercely protective of the ones she loves, just like Silas. Then there’s Deghan and Cameron. They love her too, but I feel like they have something between them too. I just wish we knew what that was. How did they become friends? How did they get so close? Do they secretly love each other like they love Willow? And Sydney? I love him and how he helps Willow and always puts her first. I was really drown into the storyline and didn’t want to put it down. My only wish was that we got more background on the guys, and that the steamy scenes were hotter. As it is, the steam is more like hot water from a faucet and I was hoping for more like erupting volcanos. But it was good enough that I can’t wait to read what’s next in this world.

Small Problem!

It is really a good story, but to me the reverse harem aspect of it wasn't quite real. I say this because Willow's focus was mainly on Silas. The other three men seemed to be an after thought. Which I found to be unfair to them. She seemed to be able to function without all but Silas. She was willing to turn her back on all but him. So I really am not sure why the others stayed since they were more of the side kicks. It could be me, but that's how it read to me.

willow

Willow’s story was great to read. It shows rare emotion of hurt and pain but also shows how she achieves a better live. She unlocks her witch background and falls for 4 men and goes through the struggles of taken care of mom to protecting her friends and lovers. I recommend the full series. Love it! I would like to hear more about the family lineage between Wills and Lils.

Overall good — loved the final book!

Harper Shadow Academy Complete Series by Luna Pierce: 5 stars overall
Willow and her guys are all likable, with good chemistry. They face a curse together that is multi pronged, with wins and losses throughout the series. Lots of action, and love, but too much repetition at times. A quote from the series says it all: Great things aren’t easy, and the biggest rewards come from perseverance.

great series

I loved the action, the storyline, and the progression. I just wish that we got to hear and finish some of the storyline. It kind of feels like Degan’s storyline wasn’t as important to the rest. We also never got the answer to questions that you would expect from a conclusion.
Would I read it again? Probably. Would I recommend it? Of course. Just with the warning that the ending doesn’t answer all questions or storylines.

A Good Read

I liked the book and story premise. But, the relationship dynamics were not well developed. I didn't really feel like their was a solid basis for Willow to maintain each of the relationships with all her lovers. It was a good enough story for me to complete the series.

Good reading

ALTHOUGH book 4 is quite boring and repetitive, but worth it just skipping through the trash worth it to get to the end of the series.
