I was eager to attend Super U in the hopes of finding other people with superpowers who wouldn't shun me for being a telepath. How should I have known that the hot guy I met on the train there was going to be my professor?
A chance encounter on the train leads to Ciaran ending up in bed with Salvatore - until they get interrupted halfway through. It isn't til Ciaran drags his holdall into the dorms on the first day of university that they meet again, as professor and student. Shy and insecure Ciaran wants to keep his head down and finally be accepted for who he is. An affair with a professor would jeopardise his chance of using his talents for good.
Salvatore has problems beyond realising that he's slept with an undergraduate - his nemesis, Lady Diamond, has escaped her prison and is wreaking a trail of sabotage across Europe. Years ago, she defected from Sal's team to become a villain, crippling him in the process and forcing him into retirement from the field. And now she's coming back to finish the job. He can't afford to be distracted by a one-night stand he's obviously too old for.
But as Lady Diamond closes in, Ciaran and Sal will need to work together to protect the city - and each other.
Super U: Nemesis is an age-gap M/M professor student romance between the telepathic Ciaran and forcefield-generator Salvatore. It contains a supervillain who can control carbon, plenty of steam, and a well-deserved HEA between two unlikely men.
DNF'd in the first or second chapter when the author couldn't keep the names straight? How did this get past editing? Sal was Santiago for half the chapter and Ciaran was Cal. Wtf? The storytelling wasn't grabbing me either. Maybe I'll try it again some day when hopefully it'll be updated with correct names.

I liked the idea of a university to train superheroes (though I'm still a little confused on exactly who they work for later on). I liked Sal, he had been through a horrible experience with someone he should have been able to trust and has still managed to build a good life for himself. Ciaran is exited to be starting university (away from his bullying cousins) and though he wasn't looking to start a relationship, he can't deny his attraction to Sal. I thought these two were good for each other. They both have pasts that affect them, but I really did think they worked well together and pulled the best from each other.
I don't have an issue with age-gap stories in general (as long as they're both adults it's their choice), but I think it's a little more of an issue when one is a student and the other is their professor. It's wasn't a huge issue this story (there evidently aren't any rules against it for their university) and the initial connection was before they knew about the university connection. The student/professor connection between them was really present in the story (Sal is actually Ciaran's advisor of sorts), but I think their overall connection helped balance it.
The flow of time in the story was off to me. The story takes place over almost a year, but there would be a line that references we just skipped several months, so the story felt much more compacted. It made the jumps in time feel really weird.
Ciaran, a telepath, is on the train heading for the University for superheroes when he meets a stranger, Salvatore, a forcefield-generator, although neither knows these facts about each other yet. Sal enjoys talking with the young man. They actually are both attracted to each other and the tension builds. When they arrive at their destination, they go to Sal’s flat and let themselves enjoy. When classes begin, they unexpectedly meet again -- as professor and student!
Sal finds out an old enemy, Lady Diamond, has escaped prison. She had left Sal’s superhero team to become a villain, damaging his leg to where he had to retire from the field. She will be coming after him and he can’t let himself get distracted by his one-night stand with Ciaran. Besides, he is obviously too old for the young man. But as the threat from Lady Diamond increases, Ciaran and Sal begin to work together to protect both the city and each other. Will they survive? Will they find a HEA for themselves?
The premise for this novel is excellent-- a university for superheroes, where they learn to develop their powers and begin to prepare for fighting supervillains-- what's not to like? There's a robust cast of supporting characters, including a shape-shifting best friend for Ciaran and a literally impervious (to subtlety, as well as projectiles) one for Sal. The plot is mostly cogent, although in true super-hero story style, there are loose ends aplenty, and I have liked to see more resolution for both villains-- the uncertainty of the (almost) inevitable return is not my favorite. Regardless of lurking future calamity, there's an HEA for Sal and Ciaran, and that's nice to see: they're both interesting characters with cool powers, and they definitely have chemistry. To me, their relationship development wasn't as even as it could have been, but overall, this is a really enjoyable read.

I was really looking forward to read this book age difference prof/ student story. I like the concept of the series about a University for people with special powers. I wasbrhinking comics came to the written book world. I was confused when reading the first chapters and started again, but found that both names of the main characters are different in chapter one in comparison to the other chapters. I checked (sample) but this still seems the case in the published version of the book on the as is in the case in the arc I received. The nemesis part of the story was alright and the mc's find their hea. 3,5*/4-
I am looking forward to more books in the series and hope many of the other characters that where introduced will find their story.
Ciaran is a telepath headed to Super U. He meets Salvatore on the train and they strike up a conversation and get to know one another. They are attracted to each other. When they get to their destination they go to Salvatores flat to get to know one another. When they meet again it's to find out they are student/teacher. Lady Diamond has escaped and is coming after Salvatore. Overall a good story!

It's a slow buildup for a relationship between Ciaran and Sal after a fast beginning that gets interrupted. It takes dealing with an old nemesis of Sal's that wants to kill him before Sal realizes what's important. Sal and Ciaran start their relationship full with some minor changes at school.
I enjoyed this story overall and the concept of a university for individuals with superpowers to go to hone their skills to fight villains. The main characters (Sal and Ciaran) and their powers were interesting, and I also enjoyed the side characters whom I hope we will see more of in future books.

Super U: Nemesis by Annabel Rose captivated me from the start. I enjoyed the characters, especial the main ones and the main couple, Ciaran and Sal. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Oh the horror. This was bad. My biggest pet peeve is not getting your characters names correct and there were a lot of wrong names used. Ciaran was Cal and and Salvatore was Santiago. I said no thanks after that.
