Being a shifter isn’t the worst thing I could imagine. It’s taken care of all the hot flashes. My body temperature now runs constantly high. I like it. Snow? Who cares? I don’t need no stinking coat anymore. I can smell like ten times better than even when I was pregnant, and as for my vision? Glasses are SO last year. I won’t be needing those anytime soon. But man, what about the actual shifting? That hurts like nobody’s business. They say I’ll get used to it, but they don’t know how much it hurts, because I’m the only shifter for miles around. “They” are the coven that has accepted me and given me a new family. The threat from the cemetery is very real and the dead aren’t sleeping quietly. Our coven is the frontline on keeping the dead in their graves and for some reason, they think because I’m a wolf I should have some superpower against the dead. But I don’t. What I have is an amazing BFF just as powerful and middle-aged as me and I know together we can face anything. At least I think we can. We survived the first half of our lives. How hard can the second magic half be?
Welcome back to Cougar Creek in Melle Amade's Midlife Shifter Unexpected, book two in her Cougar Creek Coven series. This book focuses on Bianca, the woman who tried to befriend Mae in book one. Things pick up around that fateful moment when she goes by Mae's house with a "housewarming gift" only to find that Mae has been quite busy...with "new friends." You can help hurting for poor Bianca, but don't worry things get really crazy and I enjoyed every minute of it. I love the return to this series and I love that I get a different character to focus on. Of course, you get the other characters that you met in book one, but this one is more about Bianca and her becoming...an unexpected shifter. The twists are worth reading, and I love how the story flows. You see the stumbling blocks that the characters have to face not just with the situation with the cemetery, but also with each other in an attempt to rebuild damaged relationships. This book is so fun to read and I honestly can't wait for the next book in this series and to find out what happens next. This book is easily 5 out of 5 stars. Bring on book three! I can't wait to return to Cougar Creek!
This is the second book in the series and even though it stars a new leading character, the overall plot of this series continues from where it left off. So, I don't recommend reading it as a standalone. I thought I had connected with Mae in the first book, however, I could so easily relate to Bianca. Especially in the first scene of this book; feeling a little alone, totally overwhelmed, and also a bit taken for granted. Similar to Mae, Bianca enters this new world of the paranormal completely unprepared. Yet she's resilient, and smart, and adapts to it with only a few small stumbles. As we learn, bit by bit, more about what's going on in cougar Creek, I'm even more desperate to find out how they're going to solve the disaster-in-the-making that's landed in their midst. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
In this second book in the series, we learn more about what is happening in Cougar Creek. Bianca is trying to deal with Mae seeming to be shutting her out. Mae was the MC in the first book, and I’m glad we get to see her in this one. Poor Bianca doesn’t know what to do when she finds out she’s a werewolf, and she also helps the coven with their problem. Can’t say much as I don’t want to spoil anything. While the book seemed to end with a few questions unanswered, we do get to learn more information on what’s happening in the cemetery. I’m intrigued with Julie, too, who I suspect is the next MC. I’m ready to read the next one. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
This is so good and is a fantastic addition to this series! So book one was midlife witch unexpected, this one is midlife shifter unexpected and I am so loving where these are taking us. There’s drama, there’s mystery, there’s intrigue and we learn more about Cougar creek. The characters well they are simply fantastic as they take In Their stride all the paranormal stuff that seems to be happening around them and who wouldn’t want the hot flushes to stop and I would love to get rid of my glasses! I am so loving the midlife excitement and hope it continues on for many more books.
This is the second book in the Cougar Creek Coven series. This does follow a new main character compared to the first book but follow an overarching plot between the books. Right off the bat, Bianca is incredibly relatable and realistic. The story has magic, mystery, drama and thing seem to just be unfolding. There are questions that were left unanswered and I'm excited to find out those answers in future books.
This is book two in this series. Each book follows a different FMC. Bianca has lived her entire life in Cougar Creek. She always believed she was just a normal human until she ends of shifting one night. Now she is part of a whole new world she never knew was real. When more trouble comes to her town she joins forces with Mae and her coven to help stop it.
Midlife Shifter Unexpected, Cougar Creek Coven Book 2 by Melle Amade was a super fun quick read and full of mystery and bikinis like the first book and did not disappoint! Amade once again takes us on an intriguing journey through the mysteries that surround the little town of Cougar Cove and it’s just as jam packed as the first book!
Bianca, single mom in her 40’s and owner of doggie day care that we previously met in the first book, also works part time for the sheriff. One night, after feeling left out and snubbed by her new friend, she decides to go out to her favorite bar and ends up chatting with the cute younger bartender, Matheus and agrees to go out on a date with him.
However things don’t go as planned, because after a quick visit with Mae and Trina for tea, she soon finds herself dealing with an unexpected discovery that is definitely life changing! After a magical tonic unlocks latent supernatural powers she knew nothing about, she now finds she’ll need all the help she can get from Mae and the rest of the local coven to help uncover what exactly’s going on and how to control it—especially if she wants to keep things going with her hot bartender. ;)
Overall, if you like paranormal romances featuring mature heroines and sexy men that are also full of intrigue, mystery, shifters, magic a touch of mayhem then dive into this series now and see all the craziness that Cougar Creek has to offer!
The second book in this series continues the plot that was started in book one but following a different character. Bianca works at the sheriff office in Cougar Creek and tends to animals in her sort of animal shelter. Being in her forties and with her adult son not living with her anymore, she does not have high expectations when it comes to friends, family, or even romance. But one night out with ladies turns her life upside down, wakes up the dormant abilities and reveals the supernatural world - and the role she is expected to play in it. I really enjoy this series for how it is different to other PNR especially in the area of FMCs. No teenagers on in their twenties, we follow the destinies of women in (or after, depends on opinion) their prime, middle aged and with different issues than the teenage heroines, yet living their second puberty in a way. Especially the romance aspect in these books provides a streak of young and fresh, and combined with the supernatural world and interesting plot these books are providing nice reading experiences from different angle. And I really enjoyed Matheus in this book :)
This series is a set of Books each anout a different main Character with in a small town and with linc's to its Coven. Although each has a different FMC the background storey transfers form book to book so you really need to read them in order. This book is Bianca's storey - We met Bianca in book 1 when she was workig at the sherrif's station and befriended Mae but now she discovered teh supernatural community and not only that found out that she isnt as human ashe she thought. Add to that the Barman that every woman wants but he hasnt ever been interested. Matheus has always been kind to her but now the interest is increasing and she isnt sure why. This storey has the intruige and mystery of the master storey but then the sub plot of this couple - querky, fun, and really entertaining. Loving this series so hard!
Bianca, doggie daycare owner and sheriff’s dispatcher, heads to her favorite bar in town after feeling snubbed by her new friend when she tried to bring her a house warming gift and ends the night getting some pointers from Matheus, the bartender. As the story progresses an olive branch is offered, things don’t go quite as expected, and learning to cope with the changes happening may be more difficult than dealing with the dangers she faces. Melle Amade continued the calamities in Midlife Shifter Unexpected, bringing a lot more questions to the mystery surrounding Cougar Creek with only an answer or two provided. I can only imagine what is in store for the poor characters going forward as they seek the answers they need.
I received a free copy of the book from the author, I had the opportunity to review or not.
This is the 2nd book of this series, I recognition read the 1st book prior to this one to fully understand the full situation. Each book in this series focuses on a new Female Main character, where the first book centred around Mae, this book is about Bianca. Bianca is a great character, she has always lived in Cougar Creek as what she thought was a normal human u til one night that all changes when she shifts. Bianca is able to easily fit into the paranormal world - a world she didn’t know existed. We know from book one in this series that trouble is coming, Bianca helps/supports the coven. This book is well written in such detail that you honestly fall into the story and struggle to put it down - the twists and suspense we’re great. Overall this was a great book, looking forward to reading more of this series
3.5 stars I enjoyed this story. This is book 2 in the series and although its a different FMC you need to have read book 1 to understand what's going on. The romance side of this book was definitely in the background and this is primarily a cosy mystery story. Cougar Coven has been protecting the cemetery for centuries, but now something has happened and it seems everyone needs to help in restoring the peace. I liked Bianca, I did in the first book too - however I don't like how Mae treats her, she dismissed her in book 1 and I don't think she redeemed herself at all. I would have loved to have seen more of Matheus, and definitely more of Mae and Matheus together. There is a lot of information on how the magic and supernatural world works, and I don’t know if its me but I couldn't get my head round it at all.
Really enjoying this Midlife series. Although there is some romance I feel like the story being woven throughout the series is much bigger than the individual romances which I really love. This story's focus is on Bianca who is just a middle aged aged woman who runs a doggie day care and works part time for the sheriffs office ... or so she thinks till she turns into a wolf! I love how the storys each focus on an individual woman and a different supernatural while still keep the main story intertwined. Really good idea and well executed and so looking forward to the rest of the books in this series
Book 2 in Amade's Cougar Creek Coven series. While this book starts us off with a new main character - Bianca, it still picks up where book one leaves off and should not be read as a stand alone but rather in series order. Bianca is such a great character, living in Cougar Creek all her life she has no reason to believe she's anything but human - until she shifts that is. Now, there is a whole new world that's opened up to her but with it comes trouble too. A wonderful, well written read that captivates and pleases. Can't wait for more!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
This is fabulous addition to this fun series. This is book two and while we do focus on a different FMC the overarching story line is interconnected picking back up where book one left off. This time we focus on Bianca who is feeling very overwhelmed with this new life making things quite interesting to say the least. Add in Matheus the hot bartender who never shows interest in any woman to really make things interesting. I felt quite attached to the two of them by the end of the book but I still look forward to more books in this series. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
This book was a fun quick read. Cougar creek is a town that any middle aged woman would clamor to get to. The first book with witches was just as good, but I love wolves and this did not disappoint! We get to see everyone from the first book and a hint about the next one. I can't wait. If you like mystery and shifters, witches and a whole lot of magic definitely read this book with an open mind. There are some errors but it's not distracting, it's an entertaining read with some heat!
Bianca loves her town. All she’s missing at this stage of life is a circle of friends. She thought Mae, the new Hayes, was going to be that, but it seems her time is being taken up by others. When Matheus, the hot, younger bartender, starts showing some interest, what is Bianca to do? I’ll tell you it’s not what you expect. Continuing the drama at Cougar Creek, we learn ma little more about the coven and understand more about the need to protect the cemetery and the town.
This book is filled with drama - the steamy kind, the frantic kind, and the people-y getting to know each other kind.
This is the second in the series of quirky midlife romances, and I'm loving it so far! In this book, we learn more about Bianca, who we briefly met in book one, along with Matheus the bar tender and the Cougar Creek Coven. There's a good balance between developing the new characters, this book's story, and building on the story arc for the rest of the series. We also meet Jane, one of Bianca's sorority sisters, who looks to be the lead for the next book - which I can't wait to read.
I'm up in the mountains! So Bianca is a shifter. Why would someone put a bounty out for werewolves? I mean New Attica seems a bit extreme with it's rules. But why aren't wolf shifters allowed to be in Southern Oregon?
Also you might need a better editor. There were a lot of missing words, or too words in a lot of places that totally confused me. Not me for sure! I have trouble remembering how to use than and then!
We follow a different FMC in this book, but we met Bianca in book 1 and the story starts where the first ended. If you enjoyed reading about Mae in book 1 (who’s also present in this one), we have another strong, female lead here, stumbling into the world of the supernatural. Another entertaining read from Melle Amade - I look forward to reading Jane’s story next, no doubt being introduced to more supernaturals too!
Picks up right where book one left off, and is a wonderful read overall. More hijinx and mystery ensues and our cast of characters try to learn who is behind the stuff in the graveyard. The circle of friends is growing, and at the same time becoming closer 😉...I can't wait to see how powerful they may become. Not everything is answered, but just enough to wet your appetite and get you excited for the next up in this wonderful series!
So Bianca we kinda know from midlife witch unexpected as the friend that seemed to be ignored but there was much going on for Mae. Now it's Biancas turn to have her life thrown over and she didn't see it coming at her. Midlife but never knew she was a shifter? Can you imagine what that is like? Well thought out and it is a continuation of the soy really so read the first book too to understand this one.
I love that this is Bianca's story. Bianca has a lot to learn and deal with being a shifter. This is a great story with characters that I relate to. It is better if you read book one first, that said, I Loved this Story. I feel this is a good PWF book and I am looking forward to more! No Spoilers! I received an ARC from the Author and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose to and feel that it is a Good Read!!!
Okay, so Cougar Creek is one of those quaint little towns where the magical people live. I really wish I could live in one of those! At any rate, this tale of Bianca is even more fun than that of Mae for me in book 1. Her story progresses the overall arch of the series, yet it is very much her own as well. The writing is great and I highly recommend this series to all those ladies of a certain age looking for a little escapism.
This is such a great addition to Book 1, it continues the sense of belonging and finding your family. I had so much fun reading about Mae's continued protection of Cougar Creek, learning more about Bianca and her ummmm "condition" and lets not forget getting to know Matheus better too. (wink) There is also the introduction of new characters that just add so much flavor to this already fun story line.
This is the second book in the series and follows on the main plot of the first book but we are introduced to a new FMC in Bianca. I like Mae in book one and she is in book two which makes a smooth transition between the two characters.
Bianca is a lot of fun, she’s resilient and it’s great to see her stumble through the new world of supernatural beings! I really enjoyed this one, it was great fun and easy to read. Great characters and a good plot :)
I thoroughly enjoyed the second book in the Cougar Creek Coven series! It was nice getting to see the characters introduced in the first book again in book 2, but Midlife Shifter Unexpected focuses on Bianca. Since Bianca is a shifter, we get a different focus on some other creatures in the town too. Mae, the MFC of book 1, is a witch and Bianca's bff, so we still get to see some of the things they are doing too. Full of magic, humor and romance, this sure is a fun series!
While Mae shows up in this story it centers on Bianca. Who just happens to be a single women in her late 40's & missing the company of her son who's away at college.
Bianca runs a doggie day care & works part time for the sheriff. But one night she drinks tonic & wakes up a wolf! Whats going on is a mystery that only Mae & the Coven can help her uncover.
This is the 2nd book in the series and it is just as fun a d quirky as the 1st. The characters are developing friendships snd trying to relearn who they are kn middle age with a twist. The spice is 🔥 🔥/🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.
It was a fun quick read that i enjoyed. Im off.to read about physics now. I mean witches, shifter. Physics oh my. I know these guys have so many questions to answer and km here for the ride.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It moves along at a pace which is a perfect fit for the flow of the story being not too fast nor too slow. It has characters that you want to know better and you want to be there for them and you cannot help but fall in love with them. This is a book that has to be read, there is no doubt about it. It needs to be on your TBR list.
