The Kidnap Club #4

Kidnapped at Christmas

Rate this book
They have no choice but to break all the rules. Hopefully their hearts will avoid the same fate...

Millicent Fortescue has no time for the nobility and their nonsense. Making sure her shop is ready for Christmas requires her full focus. So, when a brooding, battle-scarred lord shows up making ludicrous claims about her being the daughter of a duke, Millicent’s tempted to send him away. But there’s something about him that keeps her from saying no…to anything he wants...

Gabriel is desperate. The only way to rescue his sister from a marriage worse than death is to use Millicent as leverage against her vile father. The last thing he expected was for her to cooperate with his wild plan. And her offer to bring in The Kidnap Club? Even better. Now all he’ll have to do is figure out how to stop kissing his oh-so-willing victim...

But a fake kidnapping can lead to some very real—and problematic—feelings. When all is said and done, Millicent and Gabriel will need a lot more than the magic of the holiday season to make it to happily ever after...

For the second time today, I am not finishing a book for the same exact reason. The heroine has just been revived after escaping from her kidnapper (hero). They are strangers. She is vulnerable. But he decides now is the time to kiss her. Nope. Just nope.

DNF at 20%.

He'd kidnapped her. Taken her right out of the store she was getting ready to open! Why her? She did not have any money. She was nobody important!

He was desperate to save his sister. Scarred from the war and with not choice, he had taken her to be able to negotiate with her father, a duke who wanted her sister.

The problem? She did not know who her father was and the more time she spent with this man, it seemed, she decided to help him.

A wonderful addition to this fabulous series, and as always, Samantha Holt captures your imagination and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end!

I rather enjoyed this story a lot. Millie and Gabriel got along well in the book. I found all the characters wonderful and entertaining. The writer did a great job with keep my attention in the story. Therefore the plot was great.
I did find a few moments in the story funny. Many of the characters provided some of their witty charm. I like the ease of reading the book. The book was exciting and entertaining. I noticed that the writer chose an appropriate age for Millie.
This made reading the intimate scene to be a bit more comfortable.

Kidnapped . . .

Gabriel Vincent, Viscount Thornbury, kidnaps Millicent Strong in an attempt to save his sister from a vile Duke who wants to marry her. Millie fights hard to escape, but when they finally talk about why he did this, she agrees to help him. Working together brings both of them closer until their own romance blossoms. Will they find a HEA? Will they save Gabriel’s sister?

Wonderful!!!

A great addition to the kidnap club.. Each story can be separate. But for me since I've read all of them I love how Samantha Holt brought all the previous characters into this story. This story has so much banter, love energy etc between the characters that you instantly fall in love with them..

She's due to open her shop however she's been kidnapped by a very odd kidnapper and what's worse is she's attracted to him.. He wants to get his sister back and with the hope of kidnapping her, he thought that an awful duke would let her go however what he didn't except was his attraction to her and her stubbornness.. after spending time in each other company and they can no longer deny their feelings for each other..

Unfortunately, I have other books in this series but haven't had time to read them. Now I wish I had.
This is a great story of what a loving brother will do to save his sister. Gabriel knows what he is doing is wrong and he has no wish to harm Millicent but needs to use her to save his sister. What he didn't expect is he has just kidnapped a Hell Cat! She is a very smart, hard-working woman who is determined to escape period. She yells, shouts nasty things at him and attacks him. Calling him a barbarian ! Millie has no time to be kidnapped, she has a new story to open, a new girl to train and orders to make sure are ready by Christmas. Now she has a very large battle scared one eyed man to deal with. Nothing is as it seems, with her trying to get away and he trying to keep her from harming herself. When both stop baiting the other and start talking everything changes.
Now both Gabriel and Millie will have to learn to work with others, not be in charge and try really hard to stop thinking of the kiss that should not of happen but it did. As they and the Kidnapped club try to save his sister, and find out hidden secrets before it too late. The attraction between Gabriel and Millie is a beautiful thing to watch. This is a fast-paced suspense, romantic story with lots of secrets, lies and nasty people to deal with. You will not be able to put it down..
I now have to go read the rest of the series! Luckily, I already own most of them...
I hope you get your copy of this mostly sweet story between two people who really do deserve more than life has given them.
I received and ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it.

Millie had little time in her schedule to get kidnapped but here we are. She will not allow herself to bend to whatever scenario she finds herself in once she is removed from these bindings. Whatever she needs to do to make it happen, she will. Never underestimate her.

Gabriel knows what he is doing is wrong, but he cannot think of any other way to help save his sister right now. From the sounds coming from the back of the carriage, he has a woman that will not be easy to subdue. He’ll cross that bridge later but first, he needs to work on his plan to save his sister before it is too late.

Kidnapped at Christmas is the fourth book in the Kidnap Club series. While each book can be read as a standalone, it is helpful with background characters to have read each in order. Plus each other book is a gem on its own.

Millicent never knew her father but is a very hard working, strong, intelligent woman. She started her own haberdashery and getting it all set up when she was grabbed. A weaker woman might have fainted dead away, but that wasn’t who she was.

Gabriel returned from the war a changed man both physically and mentally. He lost his brother while he was away and became Viscount because of his death. His sister is now being forced to marry a less than honorable man and he must stop this marriage.

The Kidnap Club series has been a wonderful ride for this reader, stories that I could never imagine coming to fruition have me on the edge of my seat for what is coming next. I’ve praised the author before and I will again. Great new read for these cool fall days, grab a blanket, a cup of hot cocoa and dive in.

I have loved this whole series & the books can be read as standalones, but I would suggest reading the series in order - you will get to know characters that reappears throughout the rest of the books.

This book had wonderful characters that I hope to read more about in future books of this series if there are any. This book kept me turning pages - besides the romance, the hero, heroine & friends were trying to find a way to save the hero's sister from marrying a horrible duke. They were digging for information to use against him & time was running out.

Gabriel Vincent, Viscount Thornbury is an ex-military man who lost his eye & scarred his face during the last few weeks of the war & when he came home, he found his older brother had died & Gabriel was now Viscount Thornbury. Millie Strong was an illegitimate daughter of a man her mother would not talk about, but she grew up working hard, being brave, intelligent & working hard to start her own business.

When Gabriel kidnaps Millie, let's just say she was a hellcat but after spending time with the barbarian who kidnapped her & when he explained why, they form an unusual friendship. Their hunt for information against the duke brings them closer & the have a wonderful romance & after many obstacles they do get their HEA. I voluntarily read & reviewed an Advanced Reader's Copy of this book; all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Starring Millicent “Millie” Strong and Gabriel Vincent, Viscount Thornbury.

Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Scarred Hero, Peer Hero/Working Class Heroine, Self-made Woman, Illegitimate Heroine.

Oh this book had me at the edge of my seat the whole time!! Millie and Gabriel kept it interesting from the word go!! I truly enjoyed their journey to HEA.

Oooooh, Gabriel was so delicious… give me a scarred hero who is fiercely protective with those he loves and I will melt every time!! And Gabriel is the kind of ruff and gruff hero that I happily gravitate to. He was wonderful!!

Millie is a little firecracker that has worked for everything she has. She’s no shrinking violet… she’s bold, opinionated, and will fight tooth and nail when she’s backed into a corner. I love how fierce she is and she’s definitely going to keep Gabriel on his toes.

Gabriel and Millie are a wonderful couple. They definitely kept me glued to the pages the whole time… and they made me read past my bedtime.

I did not read the other books in the series, but this book totally held its own, even with the mention of the other members of the Kidnap Club. Another winner from Samantha Holt.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily review it and the comments are 100% my own.

4 1/2 stars: Book was great. Loved the characters. Storyline kept me entertained. Gave me the feels and aaaaaaalmost made me cry in some parts.

KIDNAPPED AT CHRISTMAS is the fourth book in Kidnap Club series. Each story stands on its own, but there is reference to previous kidnappings and couples.

This story starts with the kidnapping…. But who is this guy? He’s not part of the club! And, why has he chosen to kidnap a shopkeeper. As it turns out, he has the right woman, but things just don’t go as planned for Gabriel. Still, he has the luck of his guardian namesake watching over him, since Millie is friends with the members of the Kidnap Club, and he needs them.

I loved this story. I did not put it down and read straight through during my Sunday off. Gabriel and Millie are meant for each other, and I wasn’t going to be happy leaving their story for a minute. I had to know what happened next, and next, and next….

This was a great addition to a series that I hope has more to come. It is such a wonderful concept - a sort of underground railroad for the 19th century women of England who were viewed as possessions instead of people.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Millie simply does not have time for any nonsense, especially being kidnapped. She is about to open her new shop. Gabriel is desperate to rescue his sister from an unwanted marriage to an odious man, who might also be Millie’s natural father. He kidnaps Millie and plans to use her to end the engagement. As kidnappings go, it is a total bust. Millie is a wild cat and her father fails to respond to the ransom note. Once things settle a bit, Millie suggests they ask some friends of hers for help. The friends? The Kidnap Club. This one absolutely holds your attention. There’s Gabriel’s attempt at kidnapping, sleuthing to find information about the duke, a fake kidnapping interrupted by a real one, and an almost duel. The interaction between Gabriel and Millie was delightfully entertaining, snarky and humorous. Their chemistry is wonderful. The villains get their comeuppance due to a letter, not what it said, but how it was written. Now Gabriel can work on their happy ending. Excellent addition to the Kidnap Club series.

This is the fourth book in the series but could easily be read on its own. A very well written book, which flowed well & I read in a sitting. I loved the feisty, independent Millie & also Gabriel who was a wonderful brother. I loved their journey to a HEA it wasn’t easy but it made for a very good read. We also caught up with the other members of the Kidnap Club. The villains were horrid & did get their comeuppances, which I always like. An engrossing read which I loved.

I love the Kidnap Club!

What a great heroine! The h is a take charge women and doesn't cower in a corner when she is kidnapped. Oh how I loved her spunk and tenacity! The H is severely scared on his face and people cringed when they see him. He received his wounds in the War and people act like he brought it on himself. He is very caring and tries too hard to protect his sister.

This has some funny moments and some serious ones too. In the author's blurb it mentions a warning of sexual assault. This is off page, but I appreciated she noted this!

There are some nasty villains, a huge twist at the end I didn't see at all, suspense, violence but also romance that builds slowly. There is lovemaking outside of marriage, heat level 4 out of 5. I felt a connection to this couple so it was filled with passion.

The Kidnap Club is the theme throughout the series. So you have cross over character's but is a stand alone.

No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, romance and some steam. Lord's name used in vain once. (ljb)

Samantha Holt’s “Kidnapped at Christmas The Kidnap Club” Book 4 is my first book in this series. Now I know I’m going to have to go back and read them all.

I enjoyed the writing, the characters, the dialogue, the plot and the story. The characters were so well written. Millie was a wonderful character, strong smart, hard working woman. She fought being kidnapped like a wild tiger, mind you she was fortunate Gabriel meant her no harm. When she knew the story she wanted to do what was right and help. She’s worked hard for her success and doesn’t have time to be kidnapped. Gabriel was really a good man in a desperate situation. These two have so much chemistry.
This fun story was intriguing and filled suspense, villains and wonderful characters.

Thank you so much Ms. Holt for this exciting and fun love story.

This story is part of the Kidnap Club series, but you do not have to read the other books to enjoy this book. Gabriel is physically scared from the war; he is a loving caring brother who wants to protect his sister and do whatever he needs to do even if he knows it is wrong. Millie is a shop keeper who Gabriel decides to kidnap to help his sister. Gabriel did not realize Millie will do whatever she has need to do to get free, I love when she calls him names. Once Millie gets to know Gabriel, she wants to help him, and she gets her friends from the Kidnap Club to help. This is a nice romantic story with an evil villain or two. It kept me in suspense until the end. I always enjoy reading books by Samantha Holt.

Anything to save a loved one

Gabriel aka Vicount Thornberry was desperate and desperate men do strange and desperate things! Millie was a hellcat insisting Gabriel kidnapped the wrong woman she has nothing of value!
Millie thinks Gabriel is a barbarian. He thinks she is a beautiful yet sharp tongued shrew! Both are willing to go to extreme measures to protect their loved ones! Millie goes from captive to captivated!
There are evil people in place to try and keep Emma who is Gabriel’s younger sister has been forced into a loveless union with a vile Duke. When the evil Dukes plans ate thwarted can a beastly gruff Viscount with a scarred face ever have a future with the fearless shop owner he has grown to love? Gabriel is ready to sacrifice all for his sister. What about for love?

Really enjoyed this story, from the start it captures you (literally!). The banter between Millie and Gabriel is so good- I love Millie's spunk!
The only thing that bothered me was the middle because it was a lot of back and forth, investigating, and it slowed way down. It seemed everything was just going in circles and not really progressing the story but buying time building up to the wedding date.
I have not read any of the other series in The Kidnap Club but this can be read as a stand alone.
The ending was also very well done with finding out the mystery behind the duke.
I do recommend this book for a great story, interesting characters, and a bit of a mystery.

Millicent Strong has just gained a new lease for her haberdashery shop and is busy trying to get everything ready to open before Christmas.

Lord Gabriel is desperate to save his sister from an unwanted marriage and so kidnaps Millie in order to use her against the Duke.
The kidnapping does not go to plan but they end up working together to plan another way.

The characters from previous books are also involved in the plan to save Lady Emma.

The book was easy to read and kept my attention the whole way through. I loved the interactions between Millie and Gabriel. Some really serious parts as well as funny parts.

So, I thought The Kidnap Club was over but, yay, it is not. This story started out hilarious. I mean I was laughing out loud at all of the barbs Millie was throwing at Gabriel. It was a big clusterf**k, if you know what I mean. A kidnapping gone wrong and Gabriel trying to make it right. Oh, he wanted to help his sister but he went about it all wrong. Then Millie comes up with a solution to help. Get The Kidnap Club involved but all does not go well. Gabriel and Millie do find love, of course they do, and romance abounds. This story is very well written, the dialog is fantastic and there is a little mystery which I did not figure out until later in the story. What a fantastic read and another fabulous book in The Kidnap Club.

Great Read!

What a lovely addition to The Kidnap Club series! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Millie and Gabriel as their relationship went from severely antagonistic to friendly to desire. Though Gabriel felt only the desperation and isolation of his goal to free his sister, Millie gave him hope by introducing him to ‘The Kidnap Club’ members and their wives, thus giving him connection to a small group of like-minded men to share his burden. And, for readers who had read the previous books, it was fun to reconnect with those earlier characters and get a glimpse of how their lives had progressed. This was a thoroughly feel good story with down to earth characters, a nasty villain and a strong heroine who believed in her hero.

This is book four of the series, The Kidnap Club. While this is considered a stand alone and you don't need to read the first 3 books, I think you should. The characters from the first 3 books are in this book and its nice to know their backstory. This book is about Millie, a no nonsense (soon to be) shop owner and Gabriel, a lord just trying to protect his sister. Gabriel kidnaps Millie...and Millie soon is helping Gabriel with his problem. Gabriel is a misunderstood scared war hero and Millie just wants to open her shop and be self sufficient. Really good book with a mystery and adventure.
I really enjoyed this whole series.

Samantha Holt has a way of drawing you into a story so that you get so caught up you forget about time and responsibilities. Kidnapped at Christmas is a witty, romantic, daring story of a race to save a Viscount's sister and the drastic steps he takes to save her. Like... kidnapping a young shop keeper. But what Gabriel didn't know was Millie's determination to get free until she didn't want to get free. This is a wonderful book to snuggle up with in front of the fire on a cold evening. I would definitely recommend it.

Millie was not what Gabriel excepted!
Millie is much too busy to be kidnapped and this lady fights it all the way. Gabriel is a man on a mission and he plans to use Millie but there is a twist coming that he did not expect. This was really an interesting story with wonderful twists in it. Millie is one of those characters that you have to admire and Gabriel was a man who loved his family deeply both of these characters was outstanding. The action toward the end was awesome and with such grand dialogue this book is one I am so happy to recommend. this was certainly interesting. Milli was certainly spunky and I loved that she had spirit and boy she didn't take crap from anyone. The fight in her, physical as well as mental, was impressive. The banter between her and her "kidnapper" was beyond hilarious. He was shocked into silence more often than she was that's for sure. Gabriel was a desperate man unable to think rationally. Unluckily for him, he kidnaps Milli because she is a little beast and is completely unafraid of him. Not his looks nor his personality. They made an interesting couple.

Gabriel will do whatever is necessary to save his sister Emma from a Duke who forced himself on her and is making her wed him. He was foolish to think kidnapping Millie would have any effect on the Duke's actions. I can understand why Millie would repeatedly try to escape Gabriel, but she doesn't know where they are and she didn't have a plan for after she got away. Through his actions Gabriel unknowingly brought help from her and her Kidnap Club friends with their investigative skills. They uncover more and more details about the past and I was holding my breath wanting them to vanquish the enemy.

Gabriel has a sister in trouble and he kidnaps Millie to get her away from an evil duke that is going to force her to marry him. Gabriel finds out that the same duke is the father of Millie even though she does not know that. The characters are entertaining and determined. The storyline has drama, danger, intrigue, surprises, twists, romance building between Gabriel and Millie, and so much more. Loved the Kidnap Club, the great banter, and the Christmas miracles that happen to bring about a great ending. Terrific addition to this series.

This was an entertaining read with likeable characters. Millie was such a strong and independent woman, who had an ambition that she was achieving. Gabriel, although a viscount was shunned because of his war injuries. He is very loyal to his family and this brings him in contact with Millie. I enjoyed that characters from the other stories in the series played a part but it can be read as a stand-alone. There is a romance that has some passionate moments but also a villain that needs to be dealt with. This story moved along at a good pace to keep my interest until the end. The kidnap club gains a new inductee. Gabriel is a man desperate to save his sister from making a bad marriage. To do so he kidnaps Millie who turns out to be a fighting hellcat. This is a fast paced story with characters that are determined and fiery. Although it takes place at Christmas time it is centered around the countdown to stopping the wedding. The plot is very good and the story arc is great. While searching for a solution for his sister’s problem together Millie and Gabriel find that most precious gift of all, love.

Very charming read indeed. A bit of everything without to much of each. Romance, crime, personal demons, romance and romance. And… sight… romance. Oh, and wit and fun! Not to be forgotten!
I very much enjoyed reading this book, and so will you! I am sure of it. It’s even not necessary to read the previous ones to be able to understand, but would be better. So you can see them again!
