The agent left behind.

Stuck on probation with nothing to do but busywork.

Niall’s case points to a research college hiding more secrets than the local police. He meets Haley, who is looking for her missing friend. The former Navy sailor won’t stop until she’s figured out what the disappearance has to do with the Russians in Portland.

When the two collide, a bigger plot is revealed. One that puts hundreds in danger.

The Northwest-Counter Terrorism Taskforce is on the case.

Second Chance starts off with Former Navy Officer Haley confronting a dirty cop with ties to the Russian mob at his house unexpectedly since she wants to know what happened to her missing friend Ana. NCIS agent Niall, who's on probation and wanting answers on the research scholarships, sees Haley and the cop fighting through a window. Staying hidden after Haley leaves, Niall overhears the cop saying they need to take out Haley. The cop ends up dead and Haley's brake line is cut.
He, Haley, and the Northwest Counter-Terrorism Taskforce must find answers to not only to Ana's disappearance but stop the terrorists from working on the second part to their plan.
I am looking forward to book 3.

Whew, what a fabulous roller coaster ride! After reading and loving the first book in this series I was highly anticipating Niall's story, and it was every bit as amazing as I expected it to be! I love Niall so much, he is such a fabulous brother and uncle, and so caring and protective that he completely made me melt! Once again I adored the whole Northwest Counter Terrorism Taskforce team, and hated to say goodbye to them when I turned the final page!
Oh, and the storyline! Wow, how totally unique and original, and frankly quite scary to think that something like that could potentially really happen, but it made for an awesome suspenseful read!
I loved everything about this book and am so hoping there will be more books in the series, I have my fingers crossed that Talia's story will be next!
Highly recommended!

I received an ebook copy of this book from the publisher which did not influence my review in any way. All thoughts and opinions are one hundred percent my own.

I liked the story. Niall is a returning character, a part of the NWCT team. Niall ran into some trouble in the first story and his probation continues in this story. He is helping Haley who is looking for her friend Ana. Ana went missing and Haley found her phone, but no other trace of her friend. Haley's brother, Isaac, wants her to quit looking, Ana isn't worth risking her life over, but Haley won't listen. She and Niall end up at a research college where they find a lot of strange things happening, and a lot of danger.

This is a clean read.

I enjoyed this second book a little more than I did the first book. I felt like scenes seemed to skip less in this one. This one focuses on Nial, and the woman he ends up meeting, Hailey. It was just as action packed as the first book, but had less of a faith based element. I do like this team, as well as the characters individually. So I'll move on to the next book in the series at some point.

Another good read!

Phillips takes one of the characters from the first book and highlights him in this second of the series. Niall the one who was put on probation for prioritizing his family safety over the units work safety. Now he is centerstage in figuring out what is going on a college lab and how does that relate to crime in the previous book.

Great

Continuing storyline but not a cliffhanger - the connections happen fast but in these situations understandable - no cringing at explicit “anything” - I love that - suspense without filth

I couldn’t wait to dive into Second Chance, book two in author Lisa Phillips’ Northwest Counterterrorism Task Force series. This time we focus on NCIS Special Agent Niall O’Caran. He’s working a case close to home, trying to get back in his boss and team members’ good graces.
Former Petty Officer Haley Franks is searching for her missing friend. Someone is trying to stop her. Her friend’s disappearance and Niall’s case involving the local science college seem to be entwined. Now Niall and Haley are trying to stay alive and find who is behind a massive threat.
I was so engrossed in Second Chance, and can’t wait to read the next in the series! Note that these can all be read as stand alone, though!

Another page turner, that has you not knowing who to trust. NCIS agent No all O'Caran is on probation with the Northwest Counter Terrorism Taskforce, investigating scholarship corruption with possible Russian mafia ties. Niall crosses path with Petty Officer Haley Franks, who is trying to locate her missing friend Ana. After witnessing Haley's fight to find her friend and the corrupt Russian police offer later being dumped at his doorstep. Things soon get really crazy as the two cases collide and the whole Task Force is soon trying to stay alive to figure out what is happening at a science college. Leaves you ready for the next installment. Fast paced, suspense and action.

The book started good with a promising story. But about 1/3 in suddenly the two main characters started asking god for help, praying and there was even mention of her getting a bible and studying that. This had nothing to do with the story and there was also nothing about praying and knowing god would help because he is good in the first book. It felt as if someone was just plonking this in at random points in the book with no context.
Also the premise of the story could have been used more and had so much more potential for a really interesting story and good book. what a shame.

The agent left behind. A research college hiding secrets. Haley is looking for her missing friend. Russians in Portland. Niall, a former Navy sailor, investigates.

Action. Action. And more Action. The team helps Niall complete a terrorist investigation into a research campus. The plot was crazy. Sometimes hard to keep up with. But, I still loved it.

This high octane Suspense (with a hint of Romance) has a significant Sci-Fi twist woven in with the other plot threads. For "Fiction" it has a scary wild "What if it were Reality" punch that's disturbingly thrilling.

Terrorism via an app?!

Another great read from Lisa Phillips! Twists and turns by the page full - a great suspense and mystery story with a good romance thrown into the mix. Sign me up for the next book in July 2019!

I love Lisa Phillips as an author.but this book was a tiny bit far fetched for me. I know that technology can do crazy things but....this was beyond my imagination could take me to in parts. I still liked the characters and the ongoing storyline.

I loved the first book in this series so much. This second book was just too sci-fi for me. I did not enjoy that part of the story at all. I enjoy the group dynamics and the characters and the suspense, action, and sprinkling of romance. I will read the rest of this series.

Great read. Loving this series
I do wish the author didn't toss "pissed" into so many of her novels. I unapologetically believe it is a word Christians shouldn't use, and I don't like seeing it in a Christian book

Way too “out there” to be believable as far as the plot is concerned. I felt as though I were reading a science fiction novel. 😝

Control

The story was good at telling us that God is in control. We all are human and have to remember that he is the one in control.

Great storyline. Pretty wild where all these people are being controlled by a computer app. So many bad cops so you never know who to trust. Great suspense. I didn't want to put the book down!!
