It's been so long since I've read a Michelle Valentine book and I was so happy to see she had a new release out. The Right One is the first book in her Decker Brothers series and I enjoyed it.
Janie Mitchell had a big crush on Kane Decker when they were in high school, but he was two years older than her and her brother's best friend so it never went anywhere. There was almost a kiss when she graduated, but she moved across the country for college and never looked back. Until her husband asks for a divorce and she moves back home with her son.
Kane has a daughter close to Janie's son's age and they are now neighbors. Even though Janie is going through a lot and Kane has been through so much, there is a spark between them they can't deny. One of my favorite things about this book was the kids. Both Janie and Kane are single parents and their kids were the most adorable!
This was a great start to a new series and I can't wait to read about Kane's two brothers, Warner and Cal.

Janie and her son, Mattie, come home from one of his games to find Gregg Bandy, her husband packing up her things. He bluntly tells her that their marriage is over, he is sending her back to her parents' home in Maine. He's been seeing someone else, she's pregnant and he wants to be with her. Janie is knocked off her feet, flips out on him but leaves. Now here's where I started to wonder if Janie was a doormat. If I found my husband packing up my things and throwing me out of my own home, well let's just say somebody better call 911 cause the shitz about to hit the fan.
Janie gets on a plane with Mattie and goes back to Bar Harbor. Who picks them up at the airport? Kane Decker, the guy she crushed on in high school. Janie hasn't seen Kane since she made a fool out of herself and kissed him before she moved out of town. Nine years later and she's back, on her own and still attracted to Kane. Turns out Kane has a little girl now, around the same age as Mattie. He's single too.
But it's too soon and Janie's heart is sore. Kane is sensitive to Janie and her situation. He can't understand how that piece of crap Gregg could abandon both Janie and Mattie, but life may have given them a second chance and he isn't a fool. He's grabbing it with both hands.
Things move slowly but feelings that were never admitted are bubbling to the surface. The closer Janie and Kane get, the more Kane has never felt such contentment. His protective nature brings out the alpha in him. Janie and Mattie are his responsibility now and he's not letting them go.
Life has a way of throwing a wrench in the works when we least expect it. Kane is thrown for a loop. How can Janie and Kane come back from this? After all they have been through, after finding their chance at happiness, are they about to lose it?

What a fantastiic start to a new series from Michelle A Valentine.
I love a good second chance story - well, this one is more of a one that got away, then got rehooked tale.
And sometimes you find the right one at the wrong time.
Kane and Janie needed to be apart before they could be together, and their coming together is sweet and lovely with a little heartbreak tossed in for good measure - I mean she really married the douche of all douches and right from the start I needed him to get his come-uppance.
You can't help but want these long time crushes to get together, and with the help of a couple of little scene steakers, I spent a lot of the time reading The Right One with a smile on my dial.
I adored the other Decker brothers, and I can't wait for their stories.

A nice start to a new series for the Decker brothers. Looking forward to see what happens with the other two brothers. Kane Decker was a "lifesaver" and a single dad with a secret. He's known Janie had a crush on him since high school. Now Janie has returned to their small town as a single mom. Will they get a second chance? You'll have to read the book to see if they can overcome all their angst for a happy ever after!

Kane and Janie have been friends most of their life, they lived next door to each other growing up and Kaneโs younger brother is Janieโs best friend. But as they grew up life took them in different directions until now they lived in different states but Janie is now back home and once again living next to the man she crushed on all those years ago. Only now she is a single mum of an adorable 4 year old little boy and he is a single dad to a 4 year little girl who will steal your heart, problem now is this couple have others to consider before taking a chance on love again and what happens when tragedy strikes this small town of Bar Harbor so will they take a leapโฆโฆ.

This book captivated me, I was drawn in from the first few pages and there was no putting down until the final line had been read, I fell hard and fast for Kane, I adored Janie but it was the love they have for their families and their children that took this book to another level for me. This hook ticked all my boxes, the banter is witty, the chemistry is sizzling and two little children at times steal the show, so I guess all I need to say is please one click this gem of a read and I canโt wait for more from the Deckers and Bar Harbor.

A great start to a new series and I simply enjoyed read this book. That prologue and first chapter already had me in twists and I couldn't wait to see how the story would go next as I was on the edge of my seat. It was an emotional rollercoaster but had also a fun flirty side to it. Can't wait to see what the series has next in store!
When Janie goes home with her son after a day of fun, she never expected to be kicked out by her husband. Now with nowhere to go, she gets on the plane to return back to her home town where she has no other choice than to build a new life for her and her son. When she looks straight in the eye of one of her closest friends back in the day and also her brother's best friend, Kane, it's like they haven't been apart for years. With their bond still strong, they reconnect but she also finds out he now has a little girl to take care off. Even though she never thought she'd find happiness again, she and Kane have a spark that can't be denied. But Kane still hides a secret that will find it's way to the surface and when it does, he'll have to do whatever it takes to keep his family together....

The Right One is a fantastic start to a new series by Michelle Valentine.
We meet Janie Mitchell a woman who thinks she is happily married with the most adorable son Mattie, but unfortunately looks could be deceiving, so when her life is upended she finds herself back home where her teenage crush still lives but now with a daughter.
Kane Decker is a single dad who works for the Coast Guard and is raising his cutie of a daughter Abby. When Janie comes back he knows that he wonโt be able to stay away any longer and making her realize she has always been the one is heartwarming to watch.
Kane & Janie are going to have to overcome some obstacles to find their way to a HEA but knowing that they will get there is amazing to watch.

OMG!! I am blown away. I love this authors Rockers The Black Falcon boys (especially Riff) but this book is hands down my favorite of hers. Definitely her best book (and I have read them all).
FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!
I was immediately sucked in and by 25% was completely hooked. I loved the characters (minus 1 complete douche). Loved the love story, a sort of second chance because they let their first chance go. They were each others one that got away.
But my goodness when they reconnected it was immediate and meant to always be. With two precious children they make a beautiful family.
Tears started and didn't stop through the last few chapters even while I smiled.
Such an awesome story. I feel a book hangover coming on.

Author Michelle Valentine delivers an amazing friends to lovers story.
This is a standalone book in this new series about the Decker Brothers.
I liked the dual point of views told from Kane Decker & Janie.
This book has great setup for getting to know the characters and the new world the author has created.
It is heartfelt filled with surprises and angst and had me rooting for Janie & Kane to get their second chance of a happily ever after with each other.
And their kids... too freaking cute!
Can't wait to meet the other brothers in this series!

If you are looking for a swoonworthy, second chance love romance look no further. I was amazed at how charming, addictive and heartbreakingly complicated this story turned out to be. I fell in love with Janie as a sweet heroine who needed to capture that spark back in her life...along with her adorable little son Mattie. Kane was an imperfect but perfect hero. He had everything I LOVE in my man...protective, strong, considerate, loyal and a sweet daughter who wrapped the Decker family around her finger. But he also had another side that was tragic and broken. I was floored at the way the story played out with the twists and surprising secrets. The villain of the book was deplorable and someone I could put my full emotions into hating. Great story full of feels and I highly recommend reading it!

Great book!
Let's start with me muttering a few colorful words and ready to kill someone. Single parenting is hard but with family support they made it work. I had so many emotions reading this book, anxiety, heart-break, laughter, happy tears and fan yourself moments. Michelle never disappoints with her books, I'm looking forward to next book in series!

What a phenomenal what to start a series !! They is love, hate, smiles, tears and an occasional drunkin night. The BEST is the family closeness in the 1st book !! The Decker brothers will stick through thick and thin for each other .. even moving back into there childhood home to help raise there niece.
Kane is the first brother in the series and he is a HOT, SEXY Coast Guard Swimmer which always had a thing for the girl next door BUT we all know how that goes .. her older brother warns him off BUT when she moves back after her marriage falls apart you can NEVER say NEVER if love comes back two fold !!
Janie though California is where she was suppose to be BUT after her husband out of the blue packs her up and ships her back to Maine she has no choice but to move back in with her parents along with her 4 yr old son. What is the saying you can never go home BUT that isn't the case with Janie she didn't know how much she missed a small home town until she was back next door to her first love. Can she find a job and make a new home for her and her son ?? Can she keep her feelings under wrap for Kane, who has a daughter of his own now ?? Ohh.... and don't get me started on the ex !! He wasn't the right one !!

Kane is the first brother in the series and he is a HOT, SEXY Coast Guard Swimmer which always had a thing for the girl next door BUT we all know how that goes .. her older brother warns him off BUT when she moves back after her marriage falls apart you can NEVER say NEVER if love comes back two fold !!
Janie though California is where she was suppose to be BUT after her husband out of the blue packs her up and ships her back to Maine she has no choice but to move back in with her parents along with her 4 yr old son. What is the saying you can never go home BUT that isn't the case with Janie she didn't know how much she missed a small home town until she was back next door to her first love. Can she find a job and make a new home for her and her son ?? Can she keep her feelings under wrap for Kane, who has a daughter of his own now ?? Ohh.... and don't get me started on the ex !! I love single parent, second chance romance, and The Right One delivers both beautifully. Janie crushed on her older brothers best friend, Kane, while growing up. When she finally gets the courage to make her move, things didn't go how she wanted. She left the next day for college, moving on with her life, and her embarrassment. Now years later, she is returning home with a beautiful little boy, Mattie, after her husband sent them both away. Janie has always been 'the one who got away' to Kane. He always had a crush on her as well, but his best friend warned him to stay away. Now that Janie is back, he is determined to never lose her again. He also has an adorable little girl, who is his world and will do whatever it takes to protect her. Their families blend perfectly together, and when she is ready, both Janie and Kane finally act on their feelings they always kept buried. They are so perfect together and are ready to start their forever together. But fate isn't done with them and when tragedy strikes, and then secrets are revealed, it just might break them apart for good. I really loved both Janie and Kane so much! Janie was so loyal and loving and such a good mom. I totally swooned over Kane, who is protective, thoughtful, and so sweet with his daughter and Mattie. They were so perfect for each other, and their chemistry was combustible. I loved their family and friends who were loyal and supportive and fun! I really enjoyed this sweet, emotional and steamy romance. This is a wonderful start to Valentines' new series, and I can't wait for more from the Decker Brothers!

The Right One is the perfect escape. The story crosses so many romance sub genres including second chance, single dad, military hero (Coast Guard counts), girl next door and small town romance giving the reader so much bang for the buck.
If you are in the mood to hate someone; I can promise you that the prologue will not disappoint. If I could have fallen into to pages to defend Janie I would have been by her side. I wanted to slap a man into the next zip code. Michelle A. Valentine made the whole thing feel so real, so emotional.
I have never been so happy to get on a virtual plane and fly with Janie and Mattie back home to Bar Harbor, Maine. A new beginning, an old love and a bright future make for a beautiful romance. Timing is everything and now is the time for Kane and Janie. There is so much that is perfect about them, but nothing is ever completely perfect.
Kane has a dangerous job. Every goodbye might be the last for him or one of his teammates. Life as they know it can be washed away with an ocean wave. Tragedy could destroy everything.

A perfect title for this story. They were friends growing up but then she went away to college but never forgot him. Kane was always her first love. Now she is back home. Kane realizes Janie is getting over her failed marriage and the last thing she needs is to get involved with someone. Even though he has strong feelings for her he doesnโt want to scare her, so he offers her something she needs, friendship. Their story will bring you to tears both happy and sad, but, so worth it. I could not put this story down. So many emotions and the cutest little girl and boy to make their story extra special.

Years ago, when self-publishing first became a thing, I devoured a LOT of new-to-me authors in a short period of time. Some I fell in love with their writing, and some I did not. Michelle A. Valentine totally hooked me with her Black Falcon series way back when, and I devoured pretty much all of her books until she took a hiatus from writing. Yet she never left my automatic 1-click author list, even when I wondered if sheโd ever publish again. Thank my lucky stars, sheโs back at it, and I continue to devour her books.

I adore second chance and military romance books, but she threw the kitchen sink at this one by adding a single mom, a single dad, a brotherโs best friend, and a tiny bit of suspense to top it all off. Plus, she took a dive into the mental health aspect of PTSD and depression. Wowza! So while Janie felt like a supreme pushover in the beginning, we got to see exactly how she earned the nickname Spunky as she tackled each hurdle she faced. And there were some doozies. In the end, these two amazing characters got their HEA, but they definitely fought hard for it every step of the way.

In this book we meet Janie Brady & Kane Decker. Janie thought she had it all with a husband who just made partner in his firm a beautiful fun loving son and a life anyone would envy. That is until he told her he was sleeping with another woman she was having his kid and her and their kid needed to leave immediately. So home she goes and she immediately runs into the one man who she still can't ever forget. Kane can't believe the one woman he always wanted is back. Sure he wishes it was under better circumstances but he will take her either way. Now that she is back though will she look at him in the way he looks at her or will he be friend zoned forever? Can these two find a HEA or will issues from the past make a future impossible?
Amazing story from this author. These two will take you on an emotional roller-coaster you won't want to get off of. This is one of the must own because you will read it again and again. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

A beautiful written story of finally going for what you want or who you want in life. Kane and Janie have know each other their whole lives. Living next door to each other. Kane is Janie's brothers best friend. So Kane was told not to go after his baby sister. So she was off limits to his hands not his heart. Kane wants to stay in their hometown. Janie wants to spread her wings. So in high school instead of acting on their emotions/crush they let each other go! Then a few years later and some mistakes in their lives they come together again. The second time Kane is not letting anyone or anything get between them. New beginnings for them all. New careers, new adventures and new connections. I devoured this book in one day. This book was so good it was so hard to put down. Itโs been a hot minute since Iโve read Michelleโs books and I missed her writing. She weaved this amazing second chance romance with words of love and hope with a mix of suspense and action to give us this amazing story. It was sweet and sexy and filled with loads of sexiness.
Kane and Janie had a chance but with other people keeping them apart they never got that chance. Now they are both in the same place again, both single parents and have the second chance at happiness together. Iโm a sucker for second chance romance and this one was no exception. Michelle wrote a terrific story that will give you all the feels. I even shed a few tears.

This first book in the Decker brother series is one of the best books Iโve ever read. Kane Decker is a coast guard rescue swimmer and gets reunited with the girl next door that he grew up with all his school years. Janie is a full time mom and finds herself back in her home town after her dead beat , no good husband kicks her and her son out of the house! The Decker brothers live next door to her parents. Kane was the forbidden boy, the best friend of her own brothers, while Cal was her good friend, and Warner was several years older and not much in the picture! It is great to see the relationship develop between Kane and Janie as it grows deeper. There are definitely challenges along the way, but they definitely over come each and every one. The ending is their HEA. Perfect 2nd chance romance with the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. I highly recommend this one and cant wait to see which brother is next!

I have found a new book boyfriend to put on my list of all time favorites and his name is Kane Decker!! Now don't get me wrong he did make me mad a couple of times but we know that is gonna happen he is a man....lolย But his heart was all in the mix both times so we can forgive him. Especially after he takes care of Janie and Mattie after they come home from being treated so cold. This book had me in my feels so much one moment I'm laughing the next I want to climb through the book and beat the brakes off of someone then I'm swooning so hard I'm afraid I might hit my head on the floor. Then I'm bawling like a baby and I don't like having the feels running down my face. This book might be a ball of mixed up emotional roller coaster of life but i loved every single word of it!! I highly recommend this book. And I can't wait for the next book!!ย
