The Irish Don's Black Beauty: Part One: The Irish Mafia

Rate this book
THE EPIC RETELLING OF THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD!

It started with an ultimatum from a crazy friend, which led to a nervously said hello from the most popular girl in school, and a pity date from the redheaded nobody. That's what sets Connor and Kahlani on a path neither could have ever expected. This is part one of The Irish Don’s Black Beauty.

Kahlani Edwards

The moment I laid eyes on that stoic redhead, it was love at first sight. My heart sputters when he’s in my vicinity, and my mind goes blank, even though he doesn’t know I exist. Well, he probably does, considering I’m pretty popular, but he more than likely doesn’t care. I would happily continue to love him from afar… That is until my best friend, fed up with my stolen glances and pitiful sighs, threatens to make a move on him. Now I have no choice but to put fate to the test and ask my crush of three long years out on a date. That decision would ultimately change my life because who would have thought underneath that fiery red hair, those adorable freckles, and his mysterious exterior lay a death-dealing Irish Mafia prince who'd take over my very existence.

Conner O'Shea

Goin' tu school and pretendin’ tu fit in with kids me own age is the perfect cover. All I have tu do is avoid standin’ out, get good grades, and no one would clue in tu the monster I really am. There is no time fer love or even friends fer that matter when there are explosives tu make, people tu kill, and vendettas tu uphold. I only associate meself wit' women who know who I am, and people who know feckin’ wit' me puts their life on the line. So, how the feck did I wind up on a pity date wit' one of the most popular girls in me school? And more than that... how has this black beauty become me everythin'. It's insane, unfathomable, but the crazy part is, I like it.Part 1 of 4 of The Irish Don’s Black Beauty

READER, PLEASE DO NOT one click if you aren’t ready for an Irish Don who has a strong accent, penchant for death, and an intense obsession with his black beauty. ***The Male hero is written with an accent throughout the book and the author writes her books as if the characters are narrating their own story. This is the author's personal writing style NOT an error. The Irish Don's Black Beauty books have undergone **EXTENSIVE** EDITING AND REWRITING so many details from the original have changed thank you and enjoy.***

DNF after 2 pages. 👀😬🙈 The dialogue is not for me. No way could I read a whole book like that. 😱

It’s “SPRUNG”. 🤡😵‍💫

It’s too bad because the premise sounds 👍🏻👍🏻

I fell in love with this book again even more than the first time I read it. Rose Marie is soo talented!! As we are reliving the dark, dangerous, delicious and sexy love story of Connor and Kehlani we are watching our couple fall in love all over again and given even more to the story.
We are taken deeper into the inner workings of Connor's mind and get a glimpse of his beginning with Kehlani and where his love and obsession for her started. Split into 3 parts this book this book is worth every word and chapter!

Just as great with added scenes

This is a rereleased version of the original book. Lol . Conner may be cuckoo in the head but his obsession/ love for Kahlani is everything. Stories that are in a series format must have a great foundation and I think this book fits the criteria for that. I’ve loved The Irish Don’s Black Beauty Pt1 then and I still do now. I’m looking forward to reading the other books to see what’s been added.
Highly Recommended!!

Not Your Average High Schoolers

*****Spoilers*****

Kahlani and Conner are high school seniors, she's average academically but popular and has been voted most beautiful all four years. Conner is a loner, intelligent, and seemingly a nerd as he's probably going to be valedictorian. Little does she know, Conner is actually the heir to the Irish Mafia and well acquainted with violence, has money, power, and influence. Though he's low-key at school, outside of it, he runs things. Kahlani has had a crush on the geek since 9th grade and thanks to her friend Chrissy egging her own, finally gets the courage to approach Conner.

After that, Kahlani and Conner go from dating to not dating to maybe back on to making one another jealous to back together to wanting forever as only teenagers can. While that drama is going on, Conner is handling Mafia business, trying to keep his old girlfriend Margo in check without breaking up with her because timing is bad even if Conner doesn't want her, he needs her, and going around town like a big shot while also trying to stay a few steps ahead of his dad, the Don.

If nothing else, the book is interesting and at times shocking. The biggest shock was Kahlani's dad running a small time illegal operation and is the elusive Kingpen that Conner's men couldn't identify. Kahlani is spoiled and Conner has the means to keep her that way so they fit together when it comes to that. How Conner plans to keep her in the dark about his criminal and murderous behavior I don't know but she's so far in love with him she can't seem to get past that to really see what's going on around her. To the point sometimes I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her. Hard. But even so, I wanted to keep turning the pages to see what happened next and still curious at this book's end.

I couldn't understand why Jeremiah had to die or why her best friend Chrissy was kind of written away from the main story in the book when she was moved to a different state. The brother/sister and adoptive brother/sister orgy aside, the book was heavy with the two friends until it abruptly wasn't anymore so it took a bit to get used to.

Some eye rolls. The Kahlani calling Conner "daddy" is just cringe every time and I personally would dearly like to strike it from the book but understand that's more a me thing because I just can't "daddy" a love interest. How Kahlani pours out her heart to Conner after such a short time was strange more than anything I thought. That she automatically forgives him if he's not ready to say it right away but she just had say it to him verged on just this side of desperation. Conner's last hurrah with his ex Margo giving him oral after he had already hooked up with and decided to be with Kahlani. Conner's dad is just weird, that's actually a theme in this book but the way he treats Conner's mom is ugh. Speaking of, I wouldn't have gotten from his interactions with her early on Conner's later feelings about his mom or her relationship with his dad.

This Author has “It”.

This author has “IT”. That’s not to say this book doesn’t have issues but the imagination, humor and spice are there! Some elements just need refining/editing. Her stories are epics because she takes you on a ride…whatever the book synopsis/summary says, just know she’ll give you fun/tasty plot twists. A commonality among her book heroines is how in-the-dark/sometimes naive they start off/remain but are still just down for the wild ride the heroes offer...I feel just like the heroines: along for the wild ride (as ridiculously-bananas it gets).

This is my fourth book (second full-length) I’ve read from this author and they’ve gotten better because I get her style now. Doesn’t hurt that all the male leads ARE nuts! All are psychotic alphas on steroids. I’d say her genre is tongue-in-cheek/humorously-fantastical-contemporary-ir-romance/erotica… these heroes can only be thoroughly enjoyed on the page.

I like her sequencing of events…she gives both main perspectives but doesn’t chop up the experience to do so…so sometimes, we get the same encounter told from each of their perspectives somewhat spaced out and the author uses the device of sequencing /spacing the spice or drama/intrigue plot points well so you don’t get bored. There is always something to keep the interest piqued.

Also I like how she includes the translations of whatever foreign language immediately and in the body of the text. Makes imagining the experience more vivid/stimulating. I learned some new slang and also confirmed how “craicin” was spelled. Had heard it used ad nauseum on Love Island!😂

Some of my issues were:
Grammar/editing- more was needed (it’s road, not row, dog; whose not who’s; specific letter missing from random words on a page, etc.). Rose Marie, if you’re in need of a new editor, I’d gladly volunteer as tribute🙂;

Some of the main characters’ mental musings go on a little longer than necessary and get repetitive.;

The voice of the Chrissy character was supposed to be funny? Because it was OTT grating. Just stayed in the ‘absurd’ realm for me. Skipped her interaction with Kahlani in the beginning because her voice was so jarring. So that was a miss for me.

Also could have done without the use of ‘daddy’ when referring to non-parentals but I will say it didn’t gross me out as much because it was sparing and since I get tongue-in-cheek from her writing, I chuckle more than get annoyed.

Overall, because this author has a unique voice and a great sense of humor, I’d recommend.

Beauty & The Balor!🥵🔥

This was a spicy good read I must say so myself!!!🥵🔥 kehlani & Conner had some spicy explicit moments in this book. I loved how the story began and unraveled. I would def give this book 5 stars but what held me back from doing so was the repetitive rambling that made Kehlani seem way younger than her age for some reason. It’s was as if she didn’t know anything all the time and just.. well basically so green with her words to the point that it was unbelievable.. idk it’s hard to explain. Kehlani sweet, romantic, and head over heels in love attitude she has for Conner makes up for it. The grammar errors was another reasons, and on different pages of the book I kid you not the same lines were written exactly the same to the point I was like wait.. didn’t I just read this exact same paragraph a few pages back?! That was kinda of weird I haven’t read something like that before idk if it’s a publishing error or what but it should’ve be caught. Now.. Now! Don’t get me wrong this was still an interesting really good read to the point where I’m thirsty to read part 2! Ohh and I love Conner’s possessive and lovestruck, dangerous ways he has over Kehlani! He will do anything and everything for her! He’s one guy you don’t want to mess with.😍❤️🔥 I would def recommend this book!🥵❤️

I like this book.

But the first one was good, I like you fix the the mistakes but I feel some of the fire of the original was taken away. This book seem so calm, I expect there would be more punch add to beauty but she was left the same, why say this because her mom is so strong an with a mom like that you expect her to be more self a where of herself because how her parents talk to her and how they run their house hold. She had like the Crosby mom and dad but with a dark side that her dad hide from his daughter . I like the book but love the first one more. Yes this book is tame compare to the first. If I hadn't read the first one this book might be great . Ms. Rose is a great writer because she show what other authors did not in her books the raw of the mob boss people want the sweet an romantic of him but not the ugly of the life an she gave it in the original book an that book made me read all the books and made me understand that we all want the pretty but that life isn't all pretty it got it gray and black an you got to accept it all to understand. This new version of the first book took it to the pretty but still had the gray and that is why it is still good. Happy reading😊.

Nice

I'm not much into mafia stuff but I'm slowly starting to read more, I liked that she wrote his accent out, it was a nice touch🙌🏾. At first I stopped reading when I saw they were in h.s. but I decided to go back and give it a shot. I'm glad I did, it was entertaining and am looking forward to book 2✔️. I will say some things with his accent made it hard to understand "dinna" to be exact, at times it made sense as "didnt" but other times it didn't at all. There were some grammatical errors, I assume the print version will be rid of them. Beauty's naivety got quite old at some times but she's 17 so it's understandable🙌🏾. I loved the spin on her family backstory I just wish, everyone got to formally meet before we were given that hidden gem🙌🏾 I get that Conner is a hot shot and all but psychopath or not I still find it hard how an 18-year-old could amass such wealth and power Especially Despite him going to school full time for 4 years at h.s. but I guess that's where the imagination comes in to fill in those gaps. It was a long read and I liked it so I do recommend😉

If only I could be someone’s Donna

This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I loved it. I do have to say when Jeremiah called Conner a Chucky lookin, leprechaun sounding MF, I literally lost it and immediately asked “Why are we like this?”

I enjoyed seeing so much of Conner’s point of view. I actually prefer the male’s POV because I want to know how much he loves his black Queen.

The book was well-written and the characters were fleshed out well. I loved Kahlani’s naivety to be totally honest, and love, love, loved the amazing, healthy relationship she has with her parents, something Conner never had the pleasure of having.

The world the author created was believable and beautiful. It’s a page turner and I only got 3 hours of sleep before work because I couldn’t put it down.

Definitely worth the read. I hope I love book 2 as much as I loved this one.

Yes it was just that good I had to read it again.

Okay that is wrong on so many levels, this is a awesome story so awesome this is my second time reading it I wanted to see what I wrote in the reviews. Imagine my surprise that I did not leave a review. So today 04/24/25, I reading this story for the second time, when I need something to read and nothing seems to excite me I read over some of the ones I already have. Yes I may know what’s happening, but a good book is a good book whether you reading it the 1st time, 2nd or even 3rd time. I’m guilty of reading a really good book 5x, and this book I’m talking about I can see myself reading it again this yr. Truthfully I can see myself reading this story again.

Conner and Kalani -Reloaded

This rewrite of the original stays true to form but with a lot of extra juicy tidbits. There are a couple things that Ms. Marie changed that broke my heart. But, the updated story more than makes up for it. That being said, Conner and kalani's story is still as intriguing and exciting as ever. Chrissy, her best friend, is even messier in this book. And I love it! I'm going to start on part two now and hopefully at midnight it'll magically be June 2022 so I can read about the Irish Don's Siclead, which is book 3 in the series😁🤪💋‼️🙏🙏 As usual , Excellent Job Ms. Rose‼️‼️💋💋🎈🎈🎉🎉

This is the first time reading Rose Marie’s work and I must say, this most definitely will not be my last.

From the imagery to unexpected twists and turns, I was in awe of every single page and left wanting more with the completion of each chapter. The characters were all well thought out, so much so, that I could see myself in Kahlani, Christina and surprisingly even in Conner.

Not going to lie you all, there were a few grammatical errors, aside from the Irish accented speech that stood out to me throughout the text. But….nonetheless, this interracial romance is one that I loved and I can’t wait to read Book 2 (of which I will be starting in a few days).

Thank you for sharing your work with the world Rose!

Mafia, Intrigue, Passion Romance🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-What a Thrill Ride😍

Wow!!! Part 1 of the Irish Don's Black Beauty is one hell of a thrill ride!!! This is one of the best mafia romances I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Connor is a psychopathic 💯Apex Alpha , obsessed with his innocent, young sweetheart Khalani, who is hilariously unaware that she is in love with a monster, who ends people for her with extreme vengeance!!! The supporting characters add to the intriguing mafia action & humor that amps up the entertainment quotient of this 📖 to DefCon 10!!!! I can't wait to devour Part 2📚💃🍷

The Irish Don

I found this author by reading the Lunchtime Chronicles Series. First was Coconut Cream Pie and I was like okay I see you Miss Rose Marie. Couldn't wait to see what Irish Coffee was about and baby it lead me to track down this amazing book. I feckin love Connor. Yeah my lil Ginger Bae is psychotic but can you really blame him. One thing for sure is he loves his Beauty. His da is a despicable piece of💩 and Margo is no better. How could she even think Conner would really want to marry her. His mother is just a sad case. I love Kalani, and you'd never know who her dad really is. I can't wait to read part two.💞💞

You can't tell me nothing when it comes to Connor O'Shea. He is that character that you hate to love. But, you can't stop rooting for him. There are moments you give Kahlani a side eye, but you completely get where she is coming from.

This is a book I could not put down. I fell in love with the writing from the very beginning. And it is definitely a serious that has quickly turned into one of my faves. Being a returning reader from the first edition Rose Marie really stepped up her game with this new and improved version.

The Irish Don

This was good. I hate that one character was introduced in another book, and I liked the character. I also hate that the character died in this book. He was a likable character and a family friend. Connor's character and mannerisms make you forget that he is 18 years old because he always sounds like he is in his late 30s or 40s. Kay is in her naive bubble, but her love for Connor doesn't have her questioning his “visiting family” situation at all. I can't wait to read more and see where this couple will lead.

Kahlani and Connor

Kahlani had a crush on the red head Irishmen Connor for 3 years now! Her best friend Chrissy dares her to talk to him and ask him out on a date! She goes out on a date with Connor and she falls deeper in love him! Little does she know he is the future Don of the Irish mafia and very dangerous! Kahlani gives her self to Connor and he pledges his life to her! She loves him beyond measure. Can he keep her away from his dangerous life ?

This my first time reading a book by this author. My feelings about this story are neutral. There were some parts that I liked and some parts that I did not. There were a few characters that were over the top. The book was also quite vulgar at times. However, I might read the next part in the series just to see what happens when Kahlani finds out who Conner really is. She has loved a psycho for 3 years and has no idea.

Fell in love with this Red Head

Fell in love with Kahlani when she first saw Connor and she had no idea she was speaking her thoughts out loud when she said “ Thank you Jesus for sending me my husband.”I laughed so loud. I fell in love with Connor when Kahlani approached him under the oak tree and he just stared at her while she was talking sizing her up if she was sincere or not. Their new moments are so intense you feel it in your stomach.

Best Book Eveerrrrr!!

I absolutely loved the book! I loved the book before it was edited and I still love it now!! I adore how the author added more detailed which made the story longer. 100/100 will definitely read again! I already recommended this book to most of my friends who read books and they also bought this book as well.

NOTHING SHORT OF EXTRAORDINARY

Literally a roller coaster ride that you never want to get off of. Falling in love with Kahlani’s innocence to becoming obsessed with Conner’s beast I could read this book a hundred times and it will always be like the first time. And for this book to be the Big Bang into the universe that is Rose’s mind how could you simply not want more !!!

A Teenage Mafia

While I am enjoying the growth of the characters, I will say the high sexual conversations is difficult to look past, and I awkward to read as an adult.

The storyline is intriguing, which is what kept me reading. There's been several turn of events and I'm excited to see how things turn out.

I cannot remember how I found this book, but so glad that I did The relationship between Conor Kay for short at times truly drove by me crazy but I had to remind myself that they were in high school, and even though he was much more mature beyond his years, she was a typical high school girl who fell in love with who she thought was that nerdy sweet kid, who turned out to be the psychopath Dom to be of the Irish mafia. Definitely a good read. It’s definitely a sweet ride.

This book was so damn good. I was glued to the book needing to know what was going to happen next. Connor mf O'Shea is that dude period. I can't wait to see what he does in book 2 because I know he's gonna literally going to burn down the world to keep Kehlani safe and by his side no matter the cost.
