Tulloch is an odd and mysterious Highlander from the 18th Century. He's not in tune with his feelings so much as his senses. And why not? He's got a few extra...
Wise men consult him. Wise lasses flee. So if he wants to find happiness like his fellow Highlanders, he must find a woman who is incredibly brave, or incredibly foolish. And this time, he cannot see what's coming.
2022 Goal Update: I lost count of for a while now for my series finishing challenge but this will be #30.
Review (7/30/22): I’ve been reading this series for nearly 5 years as I started in 2017. As a whole the series has had its ups and downs for me but L.L. Muir is definitely my preferred author of the bunch.
However, for how well Tulloch’s power was built up in MacTavish, this book felt like an underwhelming explanation. Much of this comes down to vagueness… we’re told that Spreag Tulloch tried to warn Bonnie Prince Charlie about defeat but it is just a passing remark. Further, the inclusion of more than one seer among the 79, makes me wonder if it is more a common thing among the Scots of this world?
I did love Tulloch as a character sans some mistreps with his gift. He was so hung up on finding someone who loved him for him, not his gift that he nearly lost his chance at love.
Alexandra aggravated and somewhat angered me. I rambled a bit in the spoiler for Alexandra but a non spoilery review of her character is basically that she’s a scientist who takes some not great steps to prove her point.
Overall, I’m not done with the series because of this 2.75 star performance but I so wanted more for Tulloch!
I have been absolutely obsessed with the Ghosts of Culloden series. All of my favorites have been the ones written by Ms. Muir. However, this is the only one that I don’t care for at all. I love the character of Tulloch, but I don’t care for the character of Alexandra at all!! And she has been the only character in all of these stories that I do not like.
That being said, I can’t wait for the next one though!
I started this story early with my morning coffee and have gotten nothing done today at all. It's almost 3pm and if The Theif was available, my night would be lost as well. Love every book in this series!
I loved this book! My favorite thus far. Both of the characters were instant friends. I have enjoyed getting to know all of the highlanders and their ladies. But these were special.
Alexandra is a scientist whose grandmother told her to go find magic in life. So where better to find magic than Scotland. Tulloch, one of the Culloden Moor ghosts, now alive again thanks to Muir magic, has the gift of sight. Good addition to the series.
I adorned Tulloch’s story. I can best describe this addition as a cat and mouse game of romance. I’ve taken a break from reading but I can tell you that this was the best welcome back to reading ever. Just love Tulloch.
I loved the priest😊 his sense of humor. Wish you gave details of what Tulloch looked like other than long hair and a really big Scott. Have never seen a Highlander before. Great story, liked the women chatting casually about their men.
These books are so fun to me because I live the way the characters are brought to life with their own quirks and humor. Fun little short reads guaranteed to make you smile.
I love the Ghosts of Culloden books by the different authors that write them. Who wouldn’t love a highlander (ghost or not), with their kilts and accents.?
A wonderful story! Enjoyed it so much. Fabulous storyline and characters. There are some bad words but not many. Other than for that it is a clean read.
Another good tale by Muir! These Highlanders are entertaining, for sure. I really liked these characters and the plot of this story. So looking forward to reading the next adventure.
