Can we all just have a moment of silence? Please?
...
Okay now I'm going to rant. This book DOES actually deserve a moment of silence because of what it could have been. This book had so much, SO much potential, but instead fell flat on its face. The 'slow burn' romances should have been marked as 'blazing fire' because no one slowed down! It was all 'oh, William got killed, let's go have sex' over and over and over again! BTW having sex on a battlefield in a tent on the ground while both people have multiple illnesses and infections is SO unsanitary. Take that as a lesson, children.
On that note, Dor and Jasmine's story lines were EXTREMELY undervalued and underexposed. They were the only highlights of this book, despite all of their terrible plot twists and crappy banter, and there was NO ATTENTION PAID TO THEM!! I'm still raging, so let me please.
And Jasmine was supposed to be this great, badass female character, and as soon as SAM came into the picture, the great-badass part of her disappeared and we were left with a the usual damsel in distress which SUCKED, I really wanted her to be a hero and not a fucking piece of GLASS.
Also, this book (for me at least) was marked to be "feminist literature."
EXCUSE ME???
This book had nothing to do with feminism. The men in every woman's life was a power-dominating BITCH who only thought for himself, wanted to keep his wife locked up, thought only SHE needed to apologize, and let his wife think he was CHEATING on her just so he could go off and make out with a hot mermaid.
As you can see, I have a lot of problems with this book.
But anyway. I could rant for ages but I won't, I'll save you the pain. Just don't read. IT SUCKS-

A good conclusion to a mediocre series. I wasn’t a fan at first of the introduction of new characters but Dor’s storyline had me reading through the more inane chapters to get back to her. It was disappointing that her storyline all but disappears in the middle of the novel. She had so much promise! Jasmine and Sam’s story also had so much promise but also fell so flat.
I also found myself skim-reading or almost skipping Mira’s chapters. They were totally unnecessary and did not move the plot or character development anywhere.

There were too many characters with chapters dedicated to their thoughts, feelings and storyline that this novel did not come together as cohesively as I think it was meant to. The villain’s demise was also underwhelming.

The series is now complete and I can move on with my life but I don’t think I’ll be recommending this series to many.

This series is the best thing I ever read. The perfect amount of everything you want in a fantasy romance. Frost Kay is you see this, you are the best author I’ve read yet and I can’t wait to read more of your stuff. This was so addictive.

Perfect ending to the book. I fell in love with Tehl, Sage, Mira, Sam, and all of the other perfectly written characters in this perfect book.
