Ramona Middleton has dreamed her whole life of growing up to become married one day with a husband, children, and a family of her own, but now, she must become a teacher out west to support herself after the unexpected passing of her parents. When Corinthia McPherson, on her way to marry a man she's never met, panics and offers to trade places with her, Ramona jumps at the chance.
Jasper Shephard, a gentleman farmer from England, ordered an elegant, refined mail-order bride to help raise his children and stand at his side as the mayor of a small Missouri town after establishing his wheat and horse ranch in the Ozarks. With a mansion in town, a horse ranch in the countryside, and three children to manage, he needs someone polished who can manage both households. Corinthia arrives and does not appear to have the qualifications, proper upbringing, or experience he requested.
Can they muddle through Christmas until the agency can remedy this problem? Or will his heart prove to have other matters in mind as he becomes more acquainted with this rather delightful, intriguing bride?

I really enjoyed this story of Ramona and Jasper! Truth is always the best policy! These stories of faith, family and romance are a great read for everyone! I love the way the author creates the characters and the plot is awesome! A must read series!
This is an interesting series where identities are traded for different reasons; in this story the bride would rather be a teacher. There are challenges with changing identities like if someone that the other knows shows up or if they slip up on their stories. The characters are very likeable even though they decided to change identities causing some lies to happen. The situations are interesting with some nice moments in the story too.
A story destined to be a yearly read! Such a special holiday story!
Many losses turned into falsehoods then with Gods love leading the way into true love. Two women needing to find what the other is destined for. But God allow their paths to cross to change places. What follows is heartwarming and will get you into the holiday spirit. Reminding you too, of what the holidays are ultimately about.
She has references to God and what He does for us throughout the story. And each chapter begins with either a scripture or a quote referring to the Lord. In the back are questions you can answer or a book club reading this can answer.
And like all of Ms Prysock books thus is sexual references and bad language free. So young teens who are advanced in reading can read this.
Oh, wow! This is such a great book!! Ramona trades places with Corinthia, as Corinthia doesn't want to get married and have a family. Ramona's always wanted to get married and have a family. What could possibly go wrong?? Ramona wants to confess to Jasper, but will he accept her and let her stay??? What should she do?
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Oh, the tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive….. Ramona was not the instigator but she was a willing participant and definitely came out to her benefit. Corinthia really didn’t think it through, she just didn’t want to get married. Lisa Prysock does a really good job keeping several secrets throughout the book, not only how Jasper would react but what really happened on that fateful wedding night? There are a few twists and turns added in also. I enjoyed this book.
If you love a good, clean Christian romance, then this book is for you. Loved the characters and the story line. It was easy to adore Ramona and to want things to go well for her. I really can't wait to rest more in this series!
This is an OK mail-order bride romance, with mostly likable characters, but I did have a few issues with it. It gets 2.5 stars from me, rounded up to 3 stars.
First, it was just too short to have enough character development. I wanted more backstory on both Ramona and Jasper.
I knew the premise of the series before I started reading it, but the whole idea that the women start their married lives by lying to their husbands about who they are bothers me. I get that Ramona really wanted a husband and family, but to lie to Jasper for so long was just wrong. She was lucky that Jasper forgave her so easily. I don't know what the marriage laws were where Jasper lived, but I actually wondered if their marriage was legal.
This is a clean romance, with nothing but kisses. If you only want to read romances that do not include sex scenes, this one might work for you.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
You’ll love this sweet historical romance that is full of intrigue, romance, and plenty of twists and turns to keep you riveted to your seat. Corinthia McPherson is on her way to marry a man she’s never met. He’s a mayor of a town and has three children. Corinthia doesn’t want to be married or raise children at this point in her life. When she encounters Ramona Middleton on her way to a teaching position she offers a trade. Ramona wants to have a family and be married. You won’t want to put this book down!
Corinthia who was a mail-order bride and Ramona, a teacher, are traveling to their destinations when Corinthia gets cold feet and persuades Ramona to switch places. Ramona, who always wanted a husband and family agrees and readily falls for Jasper and his children. However, an unexpected extended family member upsets the apple cart. A different mail-order bride story with a twist that makes for an enjoyable bedtime read.
It started out with two women intent on helping each other. Deception and Christianity don't often go together, but the author made it work. Interesting characters, very endearing. A sweet Christian romance.
Not really what I would choose. I have been reading the series and this one was next. A little slow at the beginning. Characters a bit stiff. They definitely felt like written characters. Epilogue was a great ending.
This is a short and sweet romance novella. The characters are endearing. Ramona and Jasper have a whirlwind romance in the midst of implausible but possible circumstances. If you want a light holiday read filled with goodwill, this is an excellent choice.
I enjoyed this book. I really liked the characters, especially the children. What a confusing mess the girls made. I'm glad it worked out for the best. I recommend this book.
This was a wonderful story full of worry, hope, faith, friendship, and love. I loved all the characters and enjoyed reading how the story would unfold.
This was such a fun read. Ramona only wanted to get married and have a family. Corinthia never wanted to marry. So they switch identities. That's when all the fun starts. Ms. Prysock does such a good job of telling how the two resolve their dilemma. I love the ending. The book is a fun and easy to read book that is wonderful for this time of the year. I highly recommend it. I was given an ARC but the review is my own opinion.

If you love historical books about mail order brides, you will definitely enjoy "Mail Order Ramona." A case of swapped identities, sweet children, and a handsome Englishman who is now a landowner and mayor of a small town in Missouri, make this a delightful story. Grab a cup of tea and sit in front of the fire for an afternoon of pleasant reading!

This is a great story about two women who are being forced to do something neither wants to do. Ramona wants to get married, and Corinthia wants to teach. After meeting on the train, they decide to trade places and identities. This could have been a disastrous situation for both, but all's well that ends well.
A unique mail order story! I loved that it had a different direction in the story that was so unlike other mail order bride stories that I’ve read. Those who love historical mail order bride stories will love this book. I received a copy of this book but all opinions are my own.
Fun story about two women who want better and different things in their lives. Lisa M. Prysock outdoes herself again. Story line and characters are impeccable! You don't want to miss this new Christmas book by this Author!
