Yoshida is just your average salaryman, drowning his tears in booze. On his way home one night, he finds a runaway high school girl sitting on the street. She offers to sleep with him in exchange for a place to stay—and Yoshida lets her off the hook and offers her work instead. A rom-com between the most unbalanced couple you’ll ever find!
A pretty cute and fun story despite the old manga trope of all the girls falling for this okay-looking guy.
So one day we have our main character coming home from work after being dump and finds this high school student by a light post. She ask if she could stay with him and offers herself to him in exchange. Unlike most disgusting people, this guy decides to take her in, but not because he wants to use her but feels bad for her situation. Through this new living arrangement both of them learn to co-exist in the same house while he builds up the encouragement to make his next move to the girl he likes at work.
There's a lot of cute moments in this book. I also liked the main lead thinking how disgusting it is for grown ass men to take advantage of this girl because she's out on the street. Refreshing, especially for manga. I also liked the crush one of his co-workers has on him, it's cute, and she's cute, and I hope he ends up with her. It's not a groundbreaking manga but it is a fun one. A 3 out of 5.
Micro Review time! An excellent first volume, with great characters and humour that’s balanced against the dark undertone of Sayu’s life as a runaway. The artwork is impeccable and captures some great energy and emotion, with full-page spreads that create distinctive impressions. The storyline is a little ordinary so far, but Yoshida and Sayu’s interactions are lovely and seeing Sayu change and come to understand people aren’t always going to abuse her is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.
I was hoping for something like the manga One Room of Happiness here. And initially it seemed like it was going to head in that sort of direction. I liked the characters and the beginning of the story. I didn't even mind Sayu offering herself to Yoshida because that's a dark result of her past.
However where it started losing me is when it moved into the realm of soulmates etc. I do not want to read about a man aiming for a romantic relationship with a high school girl. I really hoped this story wasn't going to go down that path, but unfortunately it looks like it will in future volumes and therefore I no longer have much interest in continuing the series.
I like it. I read it because it sparked debate from Twitter from the idea on taking a runaway high schooler girl off the street was a bad idea. Its a chill story of guy taking care of a girl responsibly and almost spoiling her but keeping a distance as he pursuing another woman. Give it a read and check out the anime too if you like this one.
I'm quite surprised by this volume so far, not in a bad way but I got this volume mainly cause the cover looked cute and the plot sounded okay, but the plot has been quite gripping. A nice mixture of comedy and suspense looking at the dark nature of being a runaway.
I'm curious about Sayu's past and just why she is a runaway, guess I'm continuing this series!
uh, wtf is up with that title (hint: he shaved his beard and cleaned up his life). It's a harem style romance. I was pleasantly surprised that the main character tries hard no to be a dick and be respectful / cares about other people because that seems like a rarity in this genre.
Lol the title got me curious so then I started to read. It wasn't too bad nor so good. It's somehow obvious what's going to happen next, but I still want to read volume 2.
