Persephone & Hades

Rate this book
Summoned to Olympus, Hades arrived in time to meet the one who'd plagued his dreams. Used to being alone, he dared not hope that she would want him in return. But the more time he spent with her, the more he began to desire her not only for her beauty or for her skills in battle, but her ability to surprise him. He wanted her, but there was no way that her mother, Demeter, Goddess of the Harvest, would ever allow them to be together.

Persephone was drawn to the Lord of the Underworld from the moment they’d met in the garden on Olympus. Frustrated and confused about her fate, Persephone fought the seductive lure of the darkness growing within her. Provided she survived the Olympic trials, and the manipulations of Hera, Persephone must find her own place in the Pantheon regardless of her feelings for Hades.

Their destinies now intertwined, Persephone has a choice to make. Either choose to give in to her desires for the Dark God whose touch she craves, heralding the end of the world as they knew it, or resist and instead return with her mother to the meadow for eternity, denying the darkness that calls to her.

Persephone & Hades genre is Adult Greek Mythology Romance.

Really this book is a 2.5. The idea behind it is really good however the writing and grammar left it a little weak. Also in some parts I didn't appreciate the author of making the gods sound more modern.

This is my first book about Hades and Persephone...and it was just the right one.....Loved it. Just the right amount of Greek mythology, action and romance. Can't wait till the second book comes out. I am now hooked on the Hades and Persephone myth and tellings of their story. I have Kate Colson to thank for getting me hooked.

Giving this 3 stars because it wasn't a *terrible* book but it definitely wasn't a good one either...

One of my biggest issues was the writing, specifically the dialogue among the characters. Everyone talked like they were 13-year-olds on a bad Disney Channel TV sitcom. Beginning when Artemis called Persephone "bestie" and then countless times after that, I found myself cringing, and it just completely took me out of the story. Even some of the narration was cringey (e.g, “Her captor slaps her ass"... although that one just made me laugh.)

I can forgive somewhat silly, juvenile writing if the plot is good, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case. It may help a prospective reader to know that this book is basically about some vague field day / Hunger Games-like event going on among the Gods where they're all inexplicably beating each other up and trying to kill each other in the forest. I thought Hades and Persephone's love story was overshadowed by all the drama and fighting among the Gods and the decision to describe the entire history of the cosmos and every god and goddess's role in it. If it's your first time reading a greek mythology retelling, that might be helpful, but it didn't do much anything for me but put me to sleep.

Overall, this was a very tough book for me to finish but I think we have to suffer through books we don't like to appreciate the ones we do. Incidentally, I wish this book had started at the exact moment where Book 2 starts (after Persephone enters the underworld), so there's always the possibility of giving that a try.

This retelling of Hades and Persephone is wonderful! In a lot of retelling you don’t really see Persephone really have a backbone or really much in the fighting area but this one starts off really fast tracked. This book does go into a lot of details about certain things like clothes; etc but the author just wanted to give a feel of what was going on. Hera is the villain in this book unlike usual when it’s Persephone mom just holding her back for having her own life. The book does end of a cliff hanger so if you are to read this book you have to prepare to read the second if you want to know how the series ends.

Dnf. Reads as clunky fanfic of Lore Olympus. Why do we need a description of every god’s outfit on each occasion? If Kore is a blushing maiden why is he fingering her the day they meet?

I love a pining hero and i like hades’ characterization. But if I have to hear about one more thigh high slit I’m going to lose it. It just didn’t feel different enough from lower Olympus to be original, but it wasn’t enough the same to be charming. If we see a description of their torrid sex during their meet cute where is there to go with romantic tension?

Incredible!

Mythology. Spicy. Romance. Action. Mystery. This book has it all. I’ve been reading different retelling of the Hades + a Persephone story and this is by far my favourite. I couldn’t put it down. The action sequences are so well written, and I just didn’t know what would happen next, even if I know the story of Hades + Persephone, this kept me guessing all the way. I’ve already started book 2. Highly recommended.

I couldn't finish this one. As much as the story appealed to me, I can't get through the problems with punctuation (lack of commas in particular) and general sentence structure. I'm sure people who are less obsessive about grammar and punctuation than I am could enjoy it though.

As a huge Greek Mythology fan, I was so excited to read this book and it did NOT disappoint! I’ve always loved the myth of Hades and Persephone and am in love with how the author created this story. I cannot wait for the second book!

This particular retelling wasn't my thing. The games and the training was just not what I wanted but if it sounds interesting to you go for it!

Good story, just read it yourself instead of listening to AI. It kills the mood when the narrator is robotic

I really don’t remember what happened but the writing was a bit weak in my opinion. I love Greek mythology so it was easy for me to enjoy this retelling. However, the book sort of gives wattpad.
