Jules escaped a past he'd rather forget. Firey has spent years looking for his destiny.

Jules

Three years ago, I escaped a horror I still have nightmares about. When I ended up in Mistvale, I knew I'd found a safe haven.
Now, I have a successful business, and I'm slowly starting to trust people again. There's just one thing missing: the shy, cute dolphin who has been tailing me for the past month.
Who is he, and what does he want from me?

Firey
My mate is so beautiful. He's a merman-siren, someone so unique and gorgeous, while I'm just a simple dolphin shifter. I've been trying to get up the courage to talk to him, but I keep chickening out.
I know he knows I've been following him, but he hasn't approached me. Does he know I'm his mate? Maybe he doesn't want me either.
What will I need to do to show him I'm worthy of being his mate?

Look out for:
A shy dolphin shifter with a funky name, it's FIREY not FIERY, a half-merman half-siren pub owner, three am dips in the river, size difference, some stalking but it's the cute kind, meddling family members, babysitting, Firey becomes godfather, danger lurks in the shadows, underwater fun *wink*.

Tails is a 55k words gay romance starring a beautiful half-merman-half-siren, a shy dolphin shifter who just wants his mate to notice him, and all the usual Mistvale Clan meddling.
Tails is the second book in the Misfits of Mistvale series, and each book in this series can be read as a standalone.

The good
+ Firey's upfront honesty about why he kept his distance at first
+ Jules' willingness to wait until Firey was ready
+ Firey accepting Jules' boundaries and never forcing him to say more than he wanted to
+ Their nightly calls
+ Swimming together
+ Firey taking great care of Jules
+ Jules coming out of his shell and believing he's loved and found a family
+ Jules learning to appreciate his siren side
+ Shelly

The neutral
o They would be amazing dads, and Firey thought about wanting children together. I would have liked them to have discussed that on-page too, because Jules deserved to know he'd be a lovely dad
o Why did Jules get to keep his feet in the shower?

The bad
- I had expected Jules and Firey's found family to come to their aid. Instead, it was outsiders. I understand the necessity for the overall plot, but it somehow made the situation less impactful in this book. I prefer when either a mate or the clan saves the day, not some outsider from a spin-off series

This story was adorable. I loved how they built their connection and the mutual trust and honesty they provided each other. Firey took such great care of Jules. Would definitely recommend!

Another great book in the Misfits series. I'd recommend reading book 1 at least for some of the background for this one.
Firey knows Jules is his mate but he's hung up on his best friend. I loved how this was done. There was a lot of communication and nothing happened between Firey and Jules until Firey had feeling for Jules only.
A little darker in tone than the author's usual books with Jules still suffering from the after effects of being kidnapped. There's still a lot of sweetness and some steamy scenes

Tails is the second book in the Misfits of Mistvale series by Stella Rainbow. This book is about Firey and Jules. If you follow this series you've already met them. Jules is a merman-siren and owns a pub. Firey is a dolphin shifter and came to Mistvale in Claws, Misfits of Mistvale book 1, with his best friend en his best friend's sister.

I really liked their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.

I think this is my first book I have read from this author and I was super impressed! This story had much more emotion and plot-driven elements that I had anticipated and I really loved the world that the author has created here.

There are lots of found family feels with everyone uniting together to protect one another within the clan. There are mages, warlocks, shifters, vampires, pretty much any sort of supernatural being you could think of.

I loved Firey and Jules together, how sweet and lovely their slow burn to romance was. Firey is aware that Jules is his mate and wants to make sure he can give the two of them a fair chance, so he lets Jules know that he's been in love with his best friend up to now. I really enjoyed their communication and friendship that turned into more.

I probably should have read the first book in this series first, since there are definitely plot elements that began before this story. Still, now I will go back and get caught up before the next book comes out. I also need a book for Firey's friend, Harlan!

A solid 3. No glaring typos. And a cute fated mates relationship between a dolphin shifter and a half merman/half siren. There were of course idiotic parts.. Why would you leave the safety of the compound when you're being hunted to go swim?... you just know something bad is going to happen... Anywho, on the next.

I loved their story, and I loved them, but the need for some maintenance editing is starting to wear me down.

4/5. I am still very invested in this universe and loving each set of mates. I just wish it had some TLC to polish them to a worthy shine.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I thoroughly enjoyed another addition to the Misfits of Mistvale Series. This book was filled with the utter sweetness and little to no angst that I expect from a Stella Rainbow book. I thought that Jules and Firey were cute together. I liked how their relationship progressed and that they took things a bit slower and got to know each other and become friends first before claiming each other. Firey had feelings for his best friend Harlan to sort through and Jules was happy to take things as slow as Firey needed. I loved how much they both lent on each other like when Firey would help Jules deal with the aftermath of his of nightmares from being held captive over three years ago and getting his bl*od drained. Eventually he was able to use his Siren voice to control one of his captives until he was able to escape.

I loved seeing all the Mistvale Clan come together a lot during this book. I was in tears after reading the last portion of the book due to something that happened, but I’m glad that it’s not the end. It was sad but heartwarming. You’ll know what I mean when you’ve finished reading this book. I’ve already pre-ordered the next book in the Series Bonds, and I’m looking forward to reading Joy’s story when it’s been released. Since reading Raph & Joy’s brother Jai’s book I always wondered if Joy was going to get a books, since a human knows about the supernatural world. I’m glad that Jai and Joy won’t lose each other. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Mistvale is certainly full of some colorful and fun characters. The last time we saw the familiar faces, they were adopting scared and orphaned children. If you haven’t read the other Mistvale books, you may want to do that first. This book can technically stand alone but it is part of a plot that spans a couple of series so it would help you make sense of the other characters and what is already going on. Firey knows the quiet man behind the bar at Waves is his mate but he struggles with that idea because he feels that he is in love with someone else. Jules is half siren, half merman so he doesn’t immediately recognize the dolphin shifter as his mate because he hasn’t spoken to him yet. But he does know the other person has been low key stalking him for a while. Watching these two literally and figuratively dance around each other was so sweet. Firey has to figure out his feelings and give Jules a chance. Jules has to be patient and just be there and show Firey that he will still be there. It all comes down to allowing something to build naturally and admitting that you could be wrong about your feelings for someone. Firey has to learn the difference between loving someone and being a little infatuated with them and being in love with someone. Good thing Jules is such a gentle marshmallow on the inside. This book is worth a read and I would recommend it, especially if you are looking for a low angst story with a dash of magic.

After a sequence of discouraging books, this was a breath of encouragement. I started reading with pre-established concepts that I didn't like, but I was surprised. Fortunately.

I won't say that I thought it was perfect, since at times I found their romance a bit forced, but not in general, just in some situations. I liked the pair, the way Firey took care of Jules. Jules' confidence that he was safe with Firey, even though he wasn't a stronger shifter. The construction of their relationship was good, within the chronology of the story.

This romance was sweet, but it was also fun and most importantly, exciting. Our. It was moving, sad towards the end, but without being distressing. Harlan's sacrifice, I cried so much that I wet my panties. Even though we know he will have his HEA, it was still very sad that he had to die. (This is not a spoiler, as this information is in Nox's synopsis)

One thing I noticed, but not just in this book, was the change in Noel, don't get me wrong, I like him better this way, but he was presented in his book as someone with problems socializing, relating to a large number of people and he liked of being alone. I understand that perhaps it was the lack of true companionship and love that may have made him this way, but the change was not a gradual one of knowledge and personal growth, it was more like a boom. I'm everyone's mother hen and that's it. He's a shapeshifter, known or not, he adopts and parties. Crazy.

In this book we have mentions of torture, forced blood withdrawal, blood consumption, death of a character.

'Tails' (Misfits of Mistvale, #2) by Stella Rainbow

Wowza! Where to start?

Welp...first may I recommend that you read the previous book to this one, 'Claws', because a lot of interesting situations, along with new people, show up suddenly in Mistvale. What happens in that book has a direct impact on the characters and storyline in this book.

I liked both MCs in this book, and most of the side characters...with a couple exceptions:
one character that I didn't particularly like, nor trust, throughout a lot of this storyline, although he has his moments eventually (no spoilers here)...
and another character that was pure evil!

I liked this storyline a lot: the plot is convoluted and it's hard to get a good read on who to trust. and who, not to trust, but it's in a grand storytelling manner! Several interwoven plot-lines (aren't those the best!) keep us readers guessing until the end, as a dangerous situation comes to a dramatic showdown!

There's comedy & tragedy, fun & terror all rolled up into a compelling tale (oh yeah, and a merman-siren shifter & a dolphin-shifter's tails, too). Loved it!

Actually love this whole series, so far, even though I haven't read them all yet.

(psst, do yourself a solid and read them all...and nobody paid me to say that, lmao)

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Jules, a merman-siren, fled a traumatic past and found refuge in Mistvale, where he’s built a peaceful life and a thriving business. But something—or someone—keeps tugging at his attention: a shy dolphin shifter who’s been quietly trailing him for weeks. Firey, sweet and uncertain, knows Jules is his fated mate but struggles to find the courage to speak. Convinced he’s too ordinary for someone as extraordinary as Jules, Firey watches from afar, hoping for a sign that he’s wanted too. As trust slowly builds and fate nudges them closer, both must confront their fears and insecurities to embrace the love that’s been quietly swimming toward them all along.

I loved this story of quiet devotion, emotional recovery, and the courage to believe you’re worthy of love. Jules's traumatic past came back to test them, their relationship and the protections in Mistvale which provided danger and drama. Their relationship was really quite sweet. Plenty of emotions and feelings in this story which was an MM story with mature content.

This was a cute addition with dolphin shifter Firey "stalking" his mate, half merman-half siren Jules. Jules escaped from some bad guys who were draining his blood for his magic and is closed off and Firey knows he's his mate but he's in love with his best friend. He admits as much and Jules gives him time to get to know him. I liked that Firey KNEW his friend wasn't his mate but still admitted to being in love and that they took time to get to know each other and the mate/love grew. It wasn't instant like some mate stories.

Of course the drama comes back to stalk Jules and there is kind of a sad ending to this one (not the main couple but some sadness) so it's not completely light and fluffy, but is still cute.

I seriously love the way the author weaves a sweet fluffy story that interlaps with her previous stories in the Mistvale Universe. Jules is a merman/siren is Firey’s mate, but he doesn’t realize it yet. Firey is a dolphin shifter, he recognizes Jules as his mate and proceeds to sweetly. This was a great addition to the series. I loved all their interactions. I really enjoyed how their relationship progressed. The character development was well done. Overall, a great read! The story was really well written, the pacing was smooth, highly recommend. I am voluntarily leaving a review form an advanced copy that I received. A great addition to the Mistvale world. This is the story of Jules and Firey, a merman/siren and dolphin shifter, and fits right in with the typical Stella Rainbow stories. The book was sweet and had low angst. Just the right amount of steamy and all-around good feeling. The characters are great, and I would recommend you read the rest of the Mistvale and Otherworld books to get the best out of all the side characters. Overall an excellent read and looking forward to the next in the series. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

so good

This was a truly excellent addition to the Mistvale stories. Honestly, I like how all the characters and stories overlap so that you never really lose sight of a loved character or you see a a character that seemed to have a cameo or two get a full blown story later. This alone makes this series something of a warm hug type read for me. Then we have those moments that come as a surprise and take the story up a notch such as what happened here. This definitely surprised me at the end as I’m sure was the attention. It got me right in the feels.

This is a super cute and sweet fated mates paranormal romance. Jules and Firey are adorable together! I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant in the beginning, hoping there wouldn’t be a love triangle situation. But, I needn’t have worried. It was handled smoothly and incredibly well-communicated. Once Jules and Firey spend some time together - including some romantic dips in the river - they’re completely gone over one another. Jules is still dealing with trauma from his kidnapping, and the way Firey cares for him is tender and sweet. I absolutely loved them!

I don’t know how Stella does it but her books just keep getting better (they were amazing to start with) I adored Jules he was just so sweet and loving. Firey is his perfect match. I love the true mates side of Stella’s books so much they are just so well written with bits of humour, suspense and lots of sexy times. I just love getting lost in the mistvale world and look forward to the next book :) xx

🌟 Loved This!

The couple in this story were sooo adorable! I really liked how they took things slowly and especially for the realistic reason on why. They go through some pretty intense situations where there is a shocking result in one of them. Their found family is there throughout with their love and support. I just love this author and this book! I am looking forward to the next one in this series!

Another Mistvale story. This is a sweet tale that has just a bit of angst. A half-merman/half-siren and a dolphin shifter are the main characters. They're very sweet together. And It was nice to read a story where being fated mates didn't mean you automatically fell into bed/love. The two work hard to get their HEA. Uncertainty and trust issues almost derail them. But love and caring, pack and family, these values win out in the end.
I can't wait for the next in series.

I love Mistvale! All the characters are amazing and bring so much to each story! It’s wonderful to be able to follow all the characters from previous stories.

Jules and Firey are so sweet together. I love how these books have very little internal relationship angst. These books are the perfect choice when you want something easy on the heart!

There is a lot more trauma and sorrow in this book than in the others, but it still manages to be both sweet and beautiful.

Three years ago, merman/siren Jules was held captive and tortured for his blood. Now he carries a lot of guilt about events that were never his fault to begin with, and it takes both his new mate Firey and the rest of the Mistvale clan to help him through it.

I skimmed a bunch as has become my norm with this author, and outright skipped a few "filler" chapters, but still enjoyed this one a bit more than the last few in this universe that I tried.
