For ten years Alison has stayed on the fringe of society. She lives a quiet, nearly invisible life, working nights as a nurse at the hospital and sleeping days. When her volunteer work at the Crisis Clinic sets her on a collision course with a pregnant teen, Alison finds herself plunging without a parachute. She must reconcile her own history as her obsession about the girl mounts. Will Alison finally make peace with her mother and with her own role in their chaotic time together?
Angie Gallion has been a stage actor, an anti-money laundering investigator, a photographer, and a paralegal. She has lived in Illinois, California, Missouri, and Georgia and has traveled to Greece, the Dominican Republic, Scotland, and Ireland. She dreams of traveling when her children are grown, and she and her husband can set out into the world. She is currently rooted outside of Atlanta Georgia with her husband, their children, and their two French Bulldogs.
Angie’s writings often deal with personal growth through tragedy or trauma. She explores complex relationships, often set against the backdrop of addiction or mental illness. Her first novel, Intoxic, was the 2016 bronze medalist in the Readers Favorite for General Fiction. That book was a twenty-five-year adventure in self-doubt and hesitation.
Ok so I feel like giving this one 4 stars was a little generous! It was definitely more well written than the 3rd book in the series and honestly I’m glad its over. I enjoyed the series as a whole which is why I gave this one 4 stars instead of 3. I personally think there was too much of a gap in age for Alison between books 3 and 4. There isn’t much in book 4 that says how she got to where she is. The whole Amy Kent side story is kind of pointless and dramatic in the grand scheme of things. I would like to have seen more of how she got to be the person she is today during the 10 year gap…It’s almost like reading about an entirely different person in this one but maybe that’s the point 🤷🏽♀️. Im happy with the ending but still have a lot of questions and feel like the author left a lot open to continue to write this series. Not sure if she will or not seeing as it’s been 4 years since this was published.
I loved this last piece of Alison's journey! This final chapter has summed up the whole series with twists and turns. I always wanted to see a happy ending and I was not disappointed. Great job Angie!
Wow, this women can write! What character development! We know Alison and feel her pain right along with her. And also her joy. So glad to read the final book #4. Cannot say enough good things about this book and this series. Alison is back in her area she grew up in and a nurse helping people. She also volunteers at a crisis center each week. She is amazing and yet does not know it. So much self doubt like we all have. Sooo good.
