The Sept #1

The Hunt

Rate this book
From the moment the rune appeared on my chin, I knew they were coming.

Other Sentinels.

My Sept.

I’ve been hiding for so many years now, but it’s time to be found…whether I like it or not.

My sister is missing. The pack I’ve sworn fealty to is useless in trying to find her. And I can’t help but feel like the hunt for answers is putting me on a collision course with everything I’ve been running from.

The runes are calling, but I know that beacon of power will bring him too. The one who’s been hunting me, who’s been killing my kind since long before I was born. I need to find my sister and warn off my mysterious Sept before death comes for us all.

I’ve been living in the shadows for so long, I don’t know if I can bare the light anymore. I guess it’s time to find out once and for all.

Ready or not Sept, here I come.

Ivy Asher is addicted to chai, swearing, and laughing a lot (but not in a creepy, laughing alone kind of way). She loves the snow, books, and her family of two humans, and three fur-babies. She has worlds and characters just floating around in her head, and she's lucky enough to be surrounded by amazing people who support that kind of crazy.

Good

WARNING! Cliffhanger! It’s pretty big, probably a 4.5/5 on the trauma scale- not quite level five, but not far off!

This is the third of the Sentinel World series, and features a new heroine Savoy, her shields Tree and Rafe, and the Knights Gage, Brae, Ledger, and Jury. That being said, you really need to have read the first two series before this one, and I highly recommend a reread if it wasn’t a recent read!

When Savoy’s sister is taken, she ends up leaving her pack, and trekking across the country to try and save her. Teaming up with the Knights, she starts to discover a rather sinister plot, even as dangers from her past loom on the horizon.

Savoy has been through a rather tough life, and that means the book does delve a little into some darker topics, and it takes quite a bit for her to begin to trust her new companions. Since this starts a new story in this world, we are also suddenly dealing with a new threat, some new information, and some new understandings of things that have been foretold before.

The ending of this book was pretty epic, with a massive cliffhanger and intriguing cameos. It kind of leaves the reader hanging a bit, and wondering what the heck happened. Of course, that won’t be too much of a surprise for Sentinel World fans, and I admit I am eager to find out what is going to happen next!

This was an enthralling read, set in the already interesting world of the Sentinels, and featuring some new and intriguing characters. It’s a fairly fast paced tale, with a hint of why choose romance, plenty of magic, action, and fighting.
An enjoyable read, RH fantasy and contemporary fantasy fans will enjoy it.

5⭐️- I was not prepared to love this book as much as I did. I’ve loved the other Sentinel series so far and I am in love with where the storyline is going.

Savoy has been on the run with her sister for years. Hiding her Sentinel powers from a hunter, Deveraux, she knows how to stay hidden in the shadows. This all changes when her sister is kidnapped. A shifter/caster trafficking ring has been stealing girls, but this time they’ve taken the wrong one. Savoy, along with her Shields (Tree and Rafe), are determined to get her back.

Along the way she runs into a shifter pack called the Knights (Brae, Gage, Ledger, and Jury) who seem to have developed a liking to her. When she is also confronted with even more confusing information, especially the introduction info a Sept, she knows there is far more going on here than she could have imagined.

So so good. Can’t wait for the next one to come out

I’ve waited for this book for like forever. I was so excited to read it and it didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed it. Really liked how all three stories came together and how the girls met. They’re THE sept and I love them. I literally cannot wait to read the next book. I need it right now. I definitely recommend this book if you have read The Lost Sentinel, Shadowed Wings or if you just like paranormal romance. It’s pretty great. Toodles!

Savoy is on the run and hiding her Sentinel heritage. So she appears as the most kick butt of kick butt shifters, and sneaks a little magic on the side. But when her sister is kidnapped, she’s letting everything unleash.
This one started with a warning that you had to read the two preceding series first. And I was reading, and sure, there’s a bit of lore missing, but nothing that seemed like a deal breaker. But this book turned into the convergence of the Sentinel worlds, and there would likely be some confusion there. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker if you’re new here, because you can get a lot from context, but it’s more fun when you know who all these characters are.
The blurb has way too many spoilers though, as some of this doesn’t happen until seventy percent in, so it’s not really a surprise to anyone.
There is some really unnecessary violence and brutality in here , so expect a little gore and lots of blood. Very low on spice at this point, but the potential has definitely built. This one is more about uncovering a kidnapping ring and kicking butt.

3.5⭐️ Some parts better than others.

It started out wobbly, sounding a little, all too familiar in places.
But then it began to take off and become absolutely brilliant, and familiar in all the best ways.

Sadly, it became wobbly once more towards the end.
The simple issue was, there were too many characters crammed in, and not enough detail to make them real or relevant.
Plus, the storyline’s also deserved more attention and detail at this point.

It’s possible that some of these issues will be addressed in the next book, but it left this one reading as too rushed and shallow.

The story needed to be either thinned out here, or made longer and fleshed out more.
Also need a little less, super-perfect heroines.

Regardless, this was an awesome return to a brilliant series, and can’t wait to read the next book.

Did I get this at 8pm and was finished by 1am?... Yes. Yes I was.
Was it worth it? Also YES.

This book was much faster in tempo than the other series. Savoy has more knowledge than Vinna and Falon had but clearly doesn't know everything. Tree and Rafe are such odd characters and I love their dynamic with Savoy. I love how different the FMC's are in each series. It makes them easier to remember. I really do miss Vinna and her guys.

Savoy isn't someone to mess with and Ledger, Gage, Jury and Brae likes what they see.
But she's hiding something big, nothing they are prepared for.

I'm frothing at the mouth to read the next book in The Sept series.

Ivy never disappoints

First of all if you haven't read the 2 series before ethics one I highly suggest you do because you will be completely lost. Go and read the Sentinel series first and the Hidden series second before picking up this book. You will laugh cry and have all the feels and you won't be able to put them down. Guaranteed to make you lose sleep but highly recommend. NOW for this book. This continues sort of where the hidden series leaves off but before Vinna and Fallon enter this is about Savoy and who she is. How she plays into this world and really builds on who is in her world. This book like the others in this series doesn't disappoint. A lot of the times you get a series and you get bored with it because there are too many books and it's the same thing over and over again and then you end up not finishing the books until later because your really are just bored with the characters....that's not this series each character is their own. There's action adventure comedy and some sexi times. Savoy like Vinna and Fallon is a smart ass to the fullest and the no shit taking ass kicking bad ass females never ends. I absolutely loved this book. The ending surprised me and made me a little sad. Ivy is the master of cliffhangers and this one is no different. Absolutely 5 out of 5 recommend.

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ FURTHER, THERES PLENTY OF SPOILERS!

Wow! Just Wow! I’m so happy I just finished rereading the previous series. It made reading this one easy to follow along.
There was a ton of names and sometimes it was hard to remember who was who, mostly the main male characters. We got to see Savoy, a hybrid, half Sentinel and half Wolf. One of her Sept’s (Vinna and Falon) was full Sentinel and the other is half Sentinel and half Gryphon. Their shifter sides had their own identities, much different compared to Shifters in general. The difference between Savoy and her Sept, was that Savoy knew what she was, and pretty much everything there is to know about being a Sentinel. She was introduced with Shields at the start of the book, Rafe and Tree. I don’t remember it being mentioned how and when or where she marked them. Together? Seperate times? It is hinted a bit of when she first met them, but most of her memories that she remembers is when she was younger. She was brainwashed, doing evil deeds like killing on command. She had too, the guys who kidnapped her when she was 7, claimed that her mom didn’t care about her. She almost died, one of the bad guys strangled her to the point of almost dying, which is when her Sentinel marks showed up. That’s when the bad guys knew they had someone to do their dirty work. She remembers other events with him too, when she realized she had a sister. How she didn’t kill Awlon the dark, because he had a child. My heart broke at that. Poor Vinna. I freaking hope and pray with all my heart Savoy wasn’t the one that killed Vinna’s parents. They said they looked familiar but haven’t clued in yet.
While searching for her kidnapped sister (they’re both adults now), she stumbles across a pack of wolves. Who seem to stalk her everywhere. She finally gives in to let them in on their plans because they keep barging in to save her when that was all part of the plan. Brae she met at the bar. Gage and Ledger showed up the next morning to escort her to meet their alpha since she was on pack lands. Despite how tiny Savoy is, she truly is a badass fighter, she fought in the fighting circuits to earn money, and to keep up with her skills. She easily could have fought Gage and Ledger but she didn’t want to stir up trouble. That’s when she sees Brae and Jury. They let her know that they know her sister was kidnapped and wanted to offer their services to help. Savoy declines, she doesn’t trust strangers, well everyone besides her family and close friends. They are just going to screw up her plans and she will never get her sister back. Savoy doesn’t know who took her sister and all the other females that were kidnapped. She can’t rule out that it’s their past coming for them or if it’s a new player. So she declines and gtfo. The guys seem to show up at the worst times. She’s reeling in the kidnappers at a club far from the town she met them in, and they come in and see her being watched and tries to save her, after Savoy tells him off, she decides to take matters into her own hands and makes Gage faint from loss of oxygen she pulled from his lungs. Savoy gets kidnapped and instead of letting her find out what happened to the girls and her sister they come busting in causing a vehicle accident and the kidnappers all die. One of the guys rips the guys throat out for touching her, the driver was impaled by a tree, and the other offed himself in fear. Savoy is devastated, her only lead is gone but this is when we get to read about Savoys unique ability of reading memories from tasting the blood. This is when Savoy really starts to let the guys in. Tree and Rafe are giggling away knowing what’s going on but refuses to tell her. Savoy is super smart but man is she blind when it comes to her feelings for the guys. The feelings she’s adamantly refusing to acknowledge, she needs to focus on finding her sister and the missing women. Turns out, the vamps found a way to breed, unsure how they pick them but there has to be something to it. Savoy saw the kidnapper ladies eyes go milky white before pointing at a few women in the club. It’s a mystery that Savoy feels the need to solve.
Savoy portrays herself as strong, confident, an incredible fighter, educated in Sentinel ways even though she didn’t grow up with a Sentinel, she is loyal, self sacrificing, compassionate and has a backbone made of steel. She’s got zippy comebacks, she cares so much about her sister and made family. The guys slowly grow on her as she lets them in more in more. She almost marks them on the step one process. She hid her Sentinel status from them, and didn’t seem to ask many questions when it was revealed. It’s also when she almost marks them. Like Vinna and Falon, their magic has a wild feel to it. It’s got a mind of its own and usually gets what it wants but since Savoy knew all about Sentinel magic she knew what was happening and shut it down quickly. They all weren’t able to discuss it much because that’s when the climax of the book started. They all kicked butt, but my heart Broke when we read about the death of one of the side characters. We don’t get to read much about him in this book new spin off series, but the previous series he had a larger role. I felt Savoy’s, Vinna’s and Falon’s pain. My heart broke right along with them. I hoped the blast was him coming back from the dead. I’m desperately hoping that it something happens to bring him back. Why was those pregnant women trying to kill him? Why protect them when they literally sliced his head off. Like what!? I’m freakin angry on behalf of the main female characters. There needs to be some revenge of some sort, it won’t feel right if it turns into “scared women trying to protect themselves from who they deemed a threat”. There’s plenty of evidence of the bad guys being dead, which shoulda clued them in. So, no I won’t accept an excuse like that. I need to know what happens next. The new runes what do they do? Savoys past knows where she and the other Sept ladies are, and he’s coming for them.
I had hoped there was a bedroom scene, but there wasn’t any. Barely any kissing, there was a Ton of nudity on Savoys part. Due to shifting but it makes the Knights (Judge, Gage, Brae and Jury). Hopefully there’s more substance to their relationship in the next book.
I honestly loved it. It was difficult to put down, and it bugged me to know end when I had to go back to work after a break. This summary is just a small gist of the book, certain points to open up a completely new avenue of the book. Laying foundation so naturally that it was so easy to picture the world Ivy describes in great detail, and without it being droned on and on about. It was in Savoys point of view. It was easy to love her character. The only truly terrible part of the book is that it had to end. I can’t wait for the next one!
Now I don’t have to re read this book when the new one comes out!

Great story and continuation of the overall plot

I enjoyed Savoy’s part in the overall Sept saga. It was a little slow going there but everything came out in the end. Though I am a little thrown off by how quickly Savoy gave into The Knights. I still don’t know exactly what that title means. I also feel like there is still a ton we don’t know about Savoy and her story. I can’t wait for more to unfold. And it is interesting to see how her logic unfolds also like when she ran into Vinna and thought what she did. It never occurred to her there could be another possibility.

Can’t wait for me.

Not Impressed

I generally love Ivy Asher's work & I was really looking forward to the next series in the Sentinel world but I was really not impressed with the FMC. She had plenty of opportunities to be a badass and show her VERY annoying, borderline misogynistic mates that she could in fact kick their asses and take care of herself but she held back every time. It was exceedingly annoying and the storyline itself was exceedingly frustrating. It was full of filler instead of progressing the storyline. I really hope the next book is significantly better.

I was starting to think pushing through the second series to get to this one was a waste of time, because how much would the author's writing style really improve? But man this book surprised me. I won't say the writing was the best I've read, but it was definitely a step up from the previous series.

To be fair, some of that might just be personal taste. Savoy's inner voice is very different to Falon's, and I much prefer her serious tone to Falon's humour. It changes the vibe of the book completely and makes things feel much more believable/realistic, I think.

I really struggle these days with "badass" FMCs, because they're so often annoyingly cocky. Savoy is a nice deviation from that, her confidence is much more subtle and therefore feels more well-earned.

I enjoyed the story, though I hope we get to know the Knights a bit better in future books. I think they feel a bit one-dimensional at the moment, most of their personality seems to come from overusing their dedicated pet name for Savoy 🙄 I really loved Tree and Rafe though, it was awesome to read a RH where there were men who weren't romantic interests but still important to the FMC.

I liked the crossover with the previous series, it made me wish I'd done a reread of the first 3 books before reading this one. Maybe one day.

Overall I really liked this book and am super keen for the next one!

✨️Spoiler free (does contain exerts from the books blurb)✨️

Ivy Asher's latest book, "The Hunt," set in the enthralling Sentinel universe, book one in the new series "The Sept" But before you delve into this adventure, take a moment to familiarise yourself with the reading order and immerse yourself in the stories that came before - you won't regret it 📚✨️

I can't get enough of this world. 🌎 Ivy Asher's characters are so well crafted, and the world building is so well thought out. I was completely absorbed in this instalment. 😍📖

So, to the plot. Picture this: fighting to win, advancing my alpha's agenda, and keeping my family safe - sounds simple, right? Well, not quite. When my little sister gets snatched, it's like the universe hits the panic button. Betrayed by my pack, 🐺 I'm forced to go rogue, hunting for Harlow all on my lonesome.⚔️ But hey, who needs backup when you're a badass with a mission, am I right?

Now, here's where things get dicey or should I say spicy. 😉 As I embark on my rescue mission, I find myself tangled up with a bunch of shifter knights in shining armour.🌶🔥
They think they can help me, bless 'em. But with my past hot on my heels and a Sentinel in the mix, things are about to get seriously hairy. And let's not forget about that pesky cliffhanger talk about a nail biter! 🤯

Ivy Asher is an auto-buy author for me 📚✨️ I've devoured all the Sentinel books, and let me tell you, this one did not disappoint. The characters, the world-building, the drama - it's all top-notch 🥰 Now, I'm practically bouncing off the walls, waiting for the next instalment. Where will Ivy Asher take me next? I need to know! 😍📚📖

Ivy Asher, you've done it again - consider me hooked 📖✨

Men laughting, smirking and feeling amused when a woman they have stalked, harrassed, groped, intimidated, and threatened, politely asks them to leave her alone, stop interfering in her life while she searches for her missing sister, and stop grabbing her inappropriately, is never going to be romantic.

The MMCs stalk the FMC, intimidate her by showing up in the middle of the night, taking her to their leader, then following her around, interfering in her life, making sexual innuendos and threats, then forcing her to accept their 'help' which does nothing except ruin her plans. They smirk and laugh whenever she gets angry or annoyed. They harrass her until she is broken down enough to finally accept their help - to do something she could have done alone. #romance

Throughout the book, the MMCs attitude can be summarised as 'why would a woman express her opinion [about our terrible behaviour, her missing sister, her tragic backstory] when she could be bouncing/moaning on my d*** like she is meant to'.

And the men in her life - her shields, sworn to protect her and help her? They also think that she needs to get laid, and that the stalker psychos - who grope her, intimidate her, and harrass her - probably have a point and she is too hysterical/focussed/'female' to get it, so why not spread her legs?

All in all, 1/5 because if the MMCs disappeared, the FMC is kick ass and I would have kept reading to see her rescue her sister and beat up the traffickers.

Not my first #whychoose, but definitely one of the worst I've read. Misogyny, stalking, and sexual violence is not romance.

Hits keep coming!!!

And by hits I mean… new bad a$$ FMC, new hot as sin mates, new drama, and secrets and abilities… oh and the action is fierce in this installment like the first 7 books. Weirdly I never read spin offs and only go as far as 3 books in a series, but the Sentinel World Series has me hooked!! I love each set is a different group of connected people, in the same world! I hope the Sept series has at least 3 books, I would do with more though… oh another set within the series!! Because Vinna does need to find the mate for Gettas friend! So there’s a whole new fan of worms to open and work through! I cannot say enough about this series! Ivy has gone above and beyond writing this. I’m in love! Off to find something else to keep me busy till the next book in the sept series is released! Happy Reading Friends!

Ivy never disappoints with her writing

Solid 5 star rating.

I fell in love with the author's writing right off the bat when she came onboard to share her creative mind into words. She still does not disappoint at all.

I loved the storyline and how all the characters eventually intertwine in the Sentinel World.

The main female character and supporting male characters are all strong individuals but make up a great team. There's no way you would not love Savy as the main female lead. The author wrote another captivating novel that will keep you turning the pages until you reach the and realize that it really is the last page. That just makes you hungry for more.

That is exactly where I am right now. I'm most definitely hungry to read more about Sav, her Shields, and her guys and the Sentinel World.

This is awesome!

I love the Sentinel world! All the characters are so well drawn out, you feel like you could turn around and they would be standing right behind you.
Savoy is currently hiding in plain sight as a pack Punisher. She, along with her two sentinels and her sister are trying to stay ahead of the one person she doesn’t ever care to see again. Dev has chased her ever since she destroyed her power mad, sadistic father after he took her mother’s life. Gathering up the little sister she just met, the pursuit to become invisible begins.
We meet many new characters along the way, the main ones being the 4 Knights who just happen to turn out to be Sav’s mates! Surprise!
You really need to dive into this series of Ivy’s. It looks like it’s going to be one whirlwind of a ride!

Ugh. I'm so mad I finished this book as fast as I did. I picked up the book and I finished it within a few hours.

Ivy Asher did not disappoint, as expected. I already loved all the other books in this world so I had no doubt I'd love this one too. I wanted to wait until more books were released before reading but, but of course, I couldn't hold off on reading it as long as I wanted to lol.

You've got your badass, sarcastic, sassy FMC along with the super lovable Shields and mates. To be honest, I loved Rafe and Tree the most. They were the best side characters and Shields to Savoy and their whole friendship just made so happy.

I'm so glad that we don't have to wait long for the next book but maaaan I needed it yesterday.

Another great world.

This book feels like I’ve been waiting for it forever, but I guess it’s only been 4 years since the last sentinel world book. I was so excited to get into it, and I think it flew by. I’m not sure if that’s because it’s short or just that I wanted it so much? I liked the book a lot but I’m not sure it had a ton of satisfaction? I didn’t really have a huge connection to the characters, which is very odd for one of Ivy’s books, and the story was good but not WOW. That being said I will absolutely be preordering the next book and devouring it on release day. 🤣

The writing is pretty good and despite the author’s warning that I need to read the previous books I got on just fine with this being my first. However, I’m not sure I like where the plot is going, actually, this world seems quite f up and even close people to main characters seem to be dying. I like a little more cushion from reality in my romances.

P.S. I went to look at the other sentinel series the author has and realized I actually have read one of them. The MC showed up in this book and I didn't even recognize her or remember this world at all. Oops. The one I read is the Lost Sentinel one and apparently it wasn't all bad.. just not at all memorable I guess.

Fantastic read

I loved Sentinel World series 1, pulled in and captivated even more with Sentinel World series 2, and now World Series 3 has not only introduced some more ass kicking, no name taking characters, but brought all the World series' together.

Ivy Asher has a way of bringing her characters not only to life, but gives each their own traits, snark, vulnerabilities, and most of ability to love and be loved. I'm not saying it's always easy, but the ability is there.

Love, love, love this series and their author. I can't wait to see where Savoy leads me and her own smoking hot Knights. Lead away, Savoy, I'm in for the long haul! Sleep be damned.

Magic’s in the air

This book, I’ve been waiting so long for this, it’s definitely been worth the wait. I love Ivy’s Sentinel world and here we meet Savy who knows nothing but pain from Sentinels. Her childhood was heartbreaking to read, so glad she’s survived and found her sister and has the support she needs.
The plot is action packed and full of hotness, Savys mates are perfect for her, looking forward to some explosive action in the next book.
That ending tho, what have they uncovered?
Such a great book, so good to catch up with Vinna and the guys again.

YES. YES YES👏👏👏
A huge thank you to Ivy Asher for delivering the Sentinel main character mash up we’ve all dreamed about. There’s something about an author writing a book combining all of our favorite characters that we all know and love and seeing them interact together that’s just *chef’s kiss*. The way I screamed in excitement when she started fighting Vinna and when our favorite gryphons appeared. 😍 I know it’s just getting started but I can’t WAIT for the next book to come out! The only complaint is the lack of spice but we all know it’ll happen in the next book. 😏🥰❤️

The Hunt: Sentinel World Series 3, the first book of the Sept series, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I had been looking forward to the release of this series for quite a while, and I wasn't disappointed…this is a series I will probably devour as each book is released, then go back for a back-to-back binge once the series has been fully released. I was already a fan of the Sentinel World and I recommend reading them to get caught up on the world-building up until this series-- it would enhance the reading experience.

She’s gone and done it again…

Ivy Asher has this annoyingly perfect talent of sucking your heart and soul into the story. She leashes your imagination and sends you falling into the world of her creation. Magic, shifters, vampires, hybrids and her unique addition- Sentinels. What a fantastic way to kick off the newest series. I can’t wait to see where Savy’s story will take us in the end!
