This was 2 books in one, and they both had the same old storyline. Poppy is a writer with writers-block who leaves New York for the little town on Cape Cod. Meets hot, sexy guy, they hook up, they break up, she completes her novel, they get back together and live happily ever after. The second book is with Poppy's friend, Summer- chef/baker from New York - quits her job in New York, visits Poppy, opens her own bakery, meets hot, sexy guy, they hook up, break up, hook back up and live happily ever after. At least I assume they break up... about halfway through the first book with Poppy, it was obvious that it was this theme and I struggled to finish it, but I did. All the sex "scenes" were more than I cared to have to sit through - kind of "trashed up" the story. I did start the Summer one, got about 1/3 the way through and realized it was same story line, just different characters with different occupations and just skipped to the end and verified that they got back together. As usually happens. This storyline of "hot, sexy guy meets hot, sexy girl, they have lots of sex and they have misunderstandings causing them to break up but then one speaks up and they make up" is SO over used - it isn't even enjoyable to read anymore. And the attempt to "jazz it up" with the sex scenes and sexual inuendos doesn't make the storyline any better.. it cheapens the whole story.
Y’all I got this book bc it was free on kindle. It is not my cup of tea. Very much a romance. The main girls name is poppy and I don’t like her name and I don’t really like her. Also the main guy was NOT ready for a relationship
Found a major editing mistake. Beginning of chapter 4- (Page35) “Poppy wakes up, gets a shower, dressed in jeans and a pretty peasant top…” End of Chapter 4 (page 40) “No wonder she couldn’t start writing-she was sitting there in her pajamas..”.
Was very disappointed. What could have easily been a heartwarming story was turned into a Harlequin type romance. Would not recommend. Truthfully, I couldn't even finish it. This was the first book I tried by Melody Grace and I won't read any more
Love the small town settings. Makes you feel like part of the story. Will definitely read the rest of the series. Thanks for some interesting entertainment.
This was actually 2 books in one volume - MEANT TO BE and ALL FOR YOU. Although I was an avid romance-reader in earlier years, I have steered away from this genre in lately. However, every once and a while I am looking for a quick, fun, light summer read - and I will try to make my way through another romance. The story line is OK, but in both books the 'strong, virile' male characters - stung by loving once, are now sworn off committing themselves again in fear of another heartbreak. REALLY! If it is the man breaking off the relationship, it's 'goodbye', 'have a nice life without me' to the woman, but when they are the ones hurting, it's like a pain that cannot be overcome. UGHHHHHHHhhhhh.
Also, the time line stunk in this series. In the first book, the female MC abandons wedding plans in early spring (so in the cold, cold Northeast, that could be as early as late March, but according to the author's description of weather and clothing required, it sounds more like the month of May). OK, so it is at least 6 weeks to 2 months from start to finish of the book. Book 2 (ALL FOR YOU) begins almost immediately where book one leaves off. Again, the weather is still an issue. In one scene the characters are picking STRAWBERRIES, and it isn't even Memorial Day yet!!!!! NO WAY - here in the Northeast, there is NO picking strawberries until the last 2 weeks of June. A little research to make it more realistic would garner less criticism......
The books were OK- lots of torrid sex scenes if you are looking for that..... however, I was not pulled enough into the characters or setting to want to continue on with this series.
Summer in Sweetbriar Cove is actually the first two books in the series--Poppy's story and Summer's story. About halfway through the first one, it seemed predictable, but I really enjoyed the characters, so I continued with the second story. Again, a little predictable, but the characters were great again. I'm now reading the third book because I like the small town and the characters, and want to see where Melody Grace takes the people of Sweetbriar Cove.
I love how the male characters are so vastly different. Cooper (book 1) is kind of between reserved and wild, while Grayson (book 2) is really reserved. Melody nails the stuffy Englishman persona. In book 3, it's Riley, who is a wild one! So, despite following the basis of a romance a little too strictly (boy meets girl, break up, get back together), the characters make these books.
I'll probably read the whole series, as Melody does an excellent job of building character personalities and the town, making the characters relatable. If you like romances that are meant to take you away from life, you'll like these. If you don't like steamy romances, you're going to get triggered (yeah, she had some reviewers that gave one star because of the steam--that doesn't make sense to me).
3.5 stars First two books in the series in this bundle.
BOOK 1:
Romance novelist Poppy takes a hiatus in a small quaint seaside town to finish writing her book. She has just ended her engagement mere weeks before her wedding when she realised she was settling and wasn't madly in love with her fiancee. She meets Cooper the handsome contractor restoring the property next door and sparks fly.
BOOK 2:
Kismet draws New York pastry chef Summer to Sweetbriar Cove where she is immediately drawn to a run down shop that she decides would be perfect for her dream bakery. Quiet and reticent Grayson owns the property and neighbours become lovers as Grayson is drawn to Summer's exuberant personality.
Both books are linked but can be read stand alone. Small-town setting. Cute couples with simple backstories and fixable conflicts. Easy and non-angsty romances.
“Time doesn’t make a difference, not when it matters. When you find your someone."
Runaway almost Bride Poppy heads to Cape Cod to recoup and finish her book, that is if she can get rid of her writer's block. A change of venue will clear it. But running away from her problems doesn't mean she won't run into others in the form of the house builder next door. ...
Cooper returned to Sweetbriar Cove when his father got sick, and never left. He's done well for himself and is working on renovations of the house next to Poppy's aunt June's home and loudly announced that after Poppy arrived the night before.
And things get tangled up after that in her past and his past and might there be a future if they could get out of their past long enough?
I'm not the biggest fan of contemporary love stories but set it on Cape Cod and I am halfway there already and can hardly wait for Summer's story next. Highly Recommended 5/5
✍️When successful romance Poppy calls off her wedding to her fiancée Owen two weeks before the wedding, she’s devastated, but decides to take up the offer to stay in her aunt’s cottage in Cape Cod.
🌊Cooper left for college to study engineering but returned to Sweetbriar Cove when his father was ill and passed away, realising the small town was his family.
🏚️With Cooper creating the biggest noise working on the renovation next door, Poppy is furious. Until she realises it the same guy who she met all those years ago.
📚This book’s been hanging out in my Kindle‘s TBR files for so long, bundled in an edition with book two in the series. An easy read, with a cozy small town vibe, and supportive friends and family, I was expecting it to be a closed door story, which it wasn’t. A light read for when that is just what you need ❤️
Poppy just called off her wedding and heads to her aunt's beach house to finish her last book in her series. However, she has horrible writer's block. This has never happened to her. Especially on the last book where she knows the characters so well. She ends up running into her childhood nemesis who is doing construction on the home next door. Of course the loud banging at 7am is not helping her writing problems and they have a face to face rather quickly. The tension between them heats up rather quickly, but there are so many obstacles along the way. I really liked this book. Toward the middle to end of the book the characters for the next book are introduced. Melody Grace creates such well developed chacters you want to continue reading the next book. Her writing is so light it's easy to keep the story going.
Poppy ans Cooper's story was better than Summer and Grayson's story. You know why? It's because Poppy and Cooper's story explained their perspectives of their reasons for not being together.
But Summer and Grayson's story frlt a bit rushed at the end. In the beginning, I didn't like Grayson's character because he sounds a lot like what I came become. Loner, Routine to be in control...I still don't like Grayson because his reason for the split wasn't fully explained to Summer, which was because without routine, Grayson can be obsessive for a girl to the point where he's in debt.
Summer's relationship with her mother was a big reason for her personality and career choices. But then this reason felt downplayed...
I get that these two stories are basically the same--girl meets hot guy, they hook up, loses guy, then gets him permanently.
I could see it with Poppy, but Summer was a whole different character, and I didn't like her at all. She was so selfish and demanding in her own way--I thought it was disgusting! I fast-forwarded through all of the sex scenes of both books...pages and pages of them. I was so disgusted that Summer got her way with Grayson, and that she stood up to her mother but only a little bit. He never should have given up his commitment to himself, and she never should have caved in to her mother after all we read about how much she wanted to prove herself on her own, etc. This second book was a big failure in my reading vocabulary!

Summer, a pastry chef at a big name restaurant in New York City, gets sent to a little town on Cape Cod to deliver one of her wedding cakes. Summer's best friend Poppy lives in the same small town. Tired of the constant stress and chaos, not to mention the long hours, from working at the restaurant, she stumbles across an abandoned house which would be perfect to open a bakery which has been her dream for years. Summer tracks down the owner to discuss the possibilty of leading that location for a bakery and sparks fly! This is a very enjoyable book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I have to admit that I had not been familiar with Ms. Grace's writing till now. What a great series to get involved in and I mean involved in. I found myself falling in love with the small town Cape Cod personalities. Being from Boston myself it was like going home again and the wonderful time spent summering on The Cape. The love stories and the passion the characters find themselves struggling through makes the series a wonderful reading experience. I can't wait to see who is up next.Enjoy!
The 'men' in these books aren't men. They're women with a miniscule amount of testosterone in their bloodstream. Just enough to grow a beard & get an erection. They're SOOO damaged by previous relationships that didn't end up as the love story of the century... (Waaa! Get me a bandaid!) And the women... They're hell-bent on making the emotionally unavailable 'men' want them because, you know, we all want what we can't have, right? Uninteresting drivel, pablum, milque toast...
Two books in one… “Meant to be” and “All for you”. I got this book for free on “stuff your kindle” day with the hopes it would be a light summer beach read. I didn’t realize going in that it was two books in one, once I got through the first book I didn’t know if I really felt like reading the second? The plot lines were predictable and honestly the male characters were very similar in their “issues”. I did like the female leads however and the message that they portrayed and it was a light summer read like I was looking for so I gave it 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have really enjoyed the melody grace books. In this one, summer is a New York City Baker baker in search of change from a hectic lifestyle. She visits the small town of Sweetbriar Cove and falls in love with it. She finds the perfect place to open her dream bakery. The only problem is her new landlord that she's attracted to but is always cold and distant to her. Will she win his heart with her sweet treats and outgoing personality? I highly need intend this book.
Two of the sweetest romance stories ever written by Melody Grace. Both stories are full of strong characters facing real feelings and hesitations when it comes to love. The characters face struggles both personally and professionally but are able to overcome their fears and find their happily ever after. These stories have great characters full of life and happy energy. The town of Sweetbriar and its people encompass what loving and helping your neighbors truly mean.
I enjoyed these two books and look forward to reading others from this author.
Summer comes to the cap to deliver a cake and visit best friend Poppy. On her way home she goes by an old bakery that. Had been closed up she get the owner of the shop and he is interested in here. They spend time together and build a relationship but he can bring down his walls. They have the soft opening for the bakery it went terrible then he broke up with Grayson. Now he help her get the fire damage taken care of and ready to open. She’s a big hit and she loves the town
Poppy, a romance novel writer from New York, escapes to Sweetbriar Cove after calling off her wedding to Owen just a few weeks prior to the wedding. Poppy's Aunt June offered up her cottage as a getaway for Poppy to gather her bearings. Cooper is the next door contractor that is making the first few days for Poppy very miserable. It doesn't take long for the sparks to fly in both anger and passion. A fun read for a beach or pool.
I am so glad other people have said this is two books in one but is really the same book. Girl moved to town, meets cranky male stranger, they kiss, then they hate each other, then they have passionate sex multiple times, then they can’t get past their differences, then they decide they have to be together. Bonus for both books having a scene where the graphic sex is about to commence and a person walks in on them. Overused phrases/tropes: damn, cornflower blue, ass, kissing on the neck.

Gostei. Livros e bolos... Duas coisas que adoro💕
I was very confused as this one downloaded book became two books. I thought the characters were sweet but a lot of redundancy in writing. I had no idea what the word ‘rueful’ ment but I sure do now, the word was used over and over again, I wish more descriptive words were used. I liked these two books but I don’t know if I’ll continue reading the series. Might come back to it
This is a cute romance series. Most of the characters are likeable. It took me awhile to like the two main guys in each story. They were kinda annoying and stuck in their ways. Once they realized they needed to change to save their relationships they became likeable. I loved the setting of the stories. I loved the female friendships and support shown. The writing was fairly easy to read. I did feel like the two books were both a little long. There was some spice in the books and it's detailed.
