ODA Tomohito Name (in native language):小田智仁 Associated Names:オダトモヒト
Tomohito Oda won the grand prize for World Worst One in the 70th Shogakukan New Comic Artist Awards in 2012. Oda’s series Digicon, about a tough high school girl who finds herself in control of an alien with plans for world domination, ran from 2014 to 2015.
Komi Can’t Communi-date! Now that she and Tadano are finally a couple, they can finally go do things. So they do. There’s also a graduation, the school song goes death metal, and Najimi does their good deed. Also pin-ups. Literally.
I like that this series has gotten so swamped with characters that it can just go off on a wildly tangential digression where Komi is merely peripheral to the usual nonsense and still have a reasonably good time.
The case in point is the graduation, which lets outgoing hoodlum, I mean president, Icho have her little moment through the eyes of… somebody… and has Komi pop up, but is mostly an excuse to have the most insane graduation ceremony I’ve seen in a manga.
As a pile of baloney, it’s very fun. However, it also illustrates this series’ massive problem: the massive cast. Bringing back characters we haven’t seen in ages is fine, but until the end of the story I legitimately had no memory of seeing Icho before. And I’m old, but I’m not that old.
Thus, character jokes exist that are clearly meant to be funny, but short of context they don’t cross the finish line to actually being funny. The random jokes are fine, the specific ones are not. These are all one-note characters, it wouldn’t be hard to toss in a couple pages to just remind us who they are.
Don’t get me wrong, I sure remember Ase and Naruse (bless that moron and his White Day gift). And Tsunde, world’s greatest tsundere. I just wish I got excited when whoever the heck arrived back on the scene, which is a sprawling number of possibilities at this point. Can you remember who loves shogi from ten plus volumes ago? Not me (not that old!)!
The vast majority of this volume concerns Tadano and Komi’s first date, which, naturally, everybody gets involved in, one way or another. It’s a pretty blasé date - the two of them both working through the awkward isn’t necessarily gripping - but the tagalongs keep it light and, for all my harumph, I really like Tadano and Komi talking about their perspectives and worries rather than bottling things up. That’s… actually healthy!
Honestly, the sentiment in this volume is probably working better than the comedy for me. Najimi decides to address the long-forgotten premise of Komi making a hundred friends, but that spins out into a very loving tribute to the entire class of weirdos as they change up going into their third year.
There’s also a huge pin-up section that, if nothing else, illustrates how wobbly this series can be. Some of these single pages are absolutely hilarious, while others are just kind of lying there, sputtering out from the off. Points for trying - the series is always up to something, I will happily give it that much.
3 stars - it’s Komi, it’s got a chuckle here and there (Najimi’s pin-up and their leaving for the ramen museum are highlights) and it has that comfy, old-shoe fit that makes it a cozy read, but consistency has never been its strong suit. Also, Yamai is in this volume, so three stars.
The Valentine's Day choice made in the last volume leads to a White Day first date in this one, so of course we need parental approval, a fashion montage while shopping for a new dress, and plenty of classmate intruders and eavesdroppers at all stages. Cute and funny, warm and fuzzy.
And with seniors graduating, the final year of high school is about to begin for Komi and her friends.
Well the tension is off now that Komi and Tadano are together. This is a "breather" volume and while light on plot has a lot of fun moments. Date with Dad was so good, the pinups were pretty fantastic and I'm excited for a new school year and new students to see chemistry with.
This series is just not good anymore. It's now pretty much solely a romance which I don't particularly like. The art style has changed a lot as well and I think it doesn't look that good. The good characters are hardly in the story lines anymore and the new charecters are boring and not memorable. I keep reading this series hoping it'll get better as I loved it in the beginning. But I don't think I will read it anymore.
It's the 3rd year and a long time coming. I share the same discomfort of too many characters. I share the same feeling with one piece.
However, when I think of it more, for both series, it makes it feel real, as if you are in her shoes going through high school, where friends come and go as you get shifted in between classes against your own wishes. As a person who has social anxiety myself, I often wonder if the discomfort of meeting of these new people and seeing fewer of the previous ones is but a fraction of what Komi feels.

I’m glad that the main two have finally admitted their feelings for each other- after 24 volumes, it has been torturous and sometimes borderline annoying 😅😂

Some sweet moments and good gags. I'm worried that there isn't so much of a driving force in the plot development now that we're past the last really big story focus, and this volume in general could work as a finale to the series. One more school year to go now though.
Review for vol 24 and 25. 24 was so sweet! The 2 MCs went on a date and had lots of embarrassing moments! So cute. In vol 25, they began school again, and did a less interesting but intense battle royale for a silly little prize.
Komi and Tadano now occupy that fiercely middle-realm of teenage interpersonal relationships where they both know what they desire yet have no actual clue how to get there. Escorting one another home after school is nice, but it's still awkward. Chatting about personal interests in between classes is nice, but it's still awkward. KOMI CAN'T COMMUNICATE v24 broaches the inevitable conversation of attempting to stay positive among two people with wildly different expectations for themselves.
Tadano probably has the worst of it. Komi's father shoves the guy into his car and (along with Shosuke) kidnaps the guy for a day's worth of events to sort out the young man's worthiness. The squirrelly and mischievous nature of Old Man Komi and his too-quiet son reek of the out-of-touch proving grounds fathers tend to orchestrate for those who plan to date their daughters. Fortunately, KOMI CAN'T COMMUNICATE v24 is deliberately over the top; so much so that Tadano's dating inexperience earns a hilarious reprieve in that he essentially dates the girl's father and brother in one fell swoop (e.g., arcade, museum, paddle boat).
Elsewise, the new school year is only just underway, and the new class arrangement offers Komi similarly new opportunities to gather more names for her booklet of friends. Whether that includes passing glances at Itan High's more ludicrous tenants (a ghost?) or casual references to comically hyper-emotional seniors (e.g., Shiki Sotsugo, whose name roughly translates to "graduation ceremony"), is beyond reader remit, but will likely include a new gyaru and some other, wonderfully graceless folks.
I love “Komi Can’t Communicate”. I was introduced to it via the Netflix anime and was desperate to know what happens in Komi and Tadano’s second year of High School. I was not disappointed! Komi’s goal to make 100 friends is such a sweet journey and Tadano is just the cutest character. I love characters that are shy and quiet because I relate to them more. Later in the series other characters are obviously introduced, some that I’m not too keen on, not because they are bad characters, I’m just not a fan of them.
I tend to hate when romances end once the couple gets together, so it is very refreshing to see Komi Can’t Communicate break that trope! I am also obsessed with Tadano and Komi and their little moments together; so cute.
A bit of a mixed bag of events in this one. Komi and Tadano begin their tentative first steps into the Realm of Dating. But first Tadano needs to contend with the judgement of Komi's Dad who whisks him away to test his worthiness of his daughter. Luckily, Tadano passes all his tests by being his usual good natured earnest self and wins over Komi's Dad (and maybe the brother who is also there). Ironically, they all seem to have gone on a whirlwind fun date with him before poor Komi's had a chance!
Komi and Manbagi go shopping for clothes for Komi's First Date and the whole thing escalates into a crazy fashion show when some of their classmates also get on the act! Poor Komi gets overwhelmed with the choices but luckily, the shop's salesperson saves the day and suggests the best outfit for her.
Komi and Tadano have their first date and it's really super awkward and sweet. Nothing much happens other than reaffirming how they feel about each other and EVENTUALLY holding hands! Oh. And they're totally oblivious that a bunch of their crazy friends are following them around and spying on them!
Back at school, there's the White Day reciprocation gifts, a completely bonkers Graduation Ceremony and Komi adds a bunch of names to her Book of Friends.
There's also an entire chunk of mock pinup pages of the various characters and a weird stand-up comedy show? Very hit and miss but still entertaining.

(Agak spoiler tapi lebih ke bait sih daripada spoiler….)
AAAAAAA IM DYING IN HAPPINESS. this volumes sum all the cuteness and drama that more heart wrenching daripada volume sebelumnya.
Aduh mix feeling deh. Tapi komedinya tetap bikin ketawa puas sepuasnya.
Yang paling berarti itu Volume 22, KARENA FINALLY MEREKA PACARAN DISINI. KALIAN BAKAL NANGIS TERHARU BANGET LIAT ADEGAN NYA, HARUS BANGET BACA CA CA…. Terus volume2 next nya bakal dilihat keseriusan Tadano , dan smua orang yg supportive. Dan aktivitas dating mereka….
Ahhhh… my heart is too fluttering reading this.
I love TadaKomi development Aku jg suka Manbagi yang bisa menerima segalanya dan stay positif (i could never) Teman teman Komi yang semakin bertambah (dan juga semakin sering saya capek inget namanya) Dan kedekatan keluarga yang semakin sering terlihat momentnya…
#25 volume of Komi Can't Communicate (though she is doing much better, after 24 volumes, thank the stars). #24 was rhe almost anticlimactic but still well done and satisfying declaration of love in #24 (for Valentine's Day!) between Shoko Komin and Tadano, two kids somewhat hampered by social anxiety, though most of the burgeoning list of characters have communication issues of various kinds, if you look closely enough. So what do we expect in this issue? Holding hands, right? Or do we wait five volumes to accomplish this??!
Sorry for the spoiler, but the couple, now a “couple,” who are “going together,” initially paralyzed about what to do, go on a kind of date with Shoko’s Dad as chaperone, with predictably hilarious results. Whie Day! Then, sure, they hold hands--you get a one-page, suitable-for-framing full page of them doing just that, after Tadano assures her that he really likes her and she can relax and enjoy the mutual admiration. So she kinda does. Kinda.
A crazy graduation ceremony happens, too, but not much else will be remembered out of this volume as it turns into a romance series.
My 13yr old wrote this review: Shoko Komi has severe social anxiety, so she finds it difficult to speak to others. It’s almost the end of the school year, and Komi and Tadano wonder if they should go out on their first date. Follow Komi as she and her friends go outfit picking, and follow Tadano as Komi’s father puts him through a drilling test to see if he’s good enough for her. What happens when the two both start doubting themselves that they really aren’t good enough for each other? Komi Can’t Communicate is probably my favorite manga series! It’s really funny and I find some of the characters (especially Fushima) relatable. As for the illustrations, I find it super adorable and the creator’s art style has improved so much compared to the first volume they did. Manga artwork in general is so detailed that I wonder how long it takes to draw each and every panel! I really recommend this series to people who feel like Komi sometimes. Maybe they’ll find it relatable as well.
I picked this up as part of my continuation of this series. "Komi Can't Communicate, Vol. 24" continues to follow Komi and her friends during their high school years. In this specific volume, it is White Day, and all of the boys are tasked with getting the girls something to reciprocate their Valentine's Day gifts. The cast of boys all have a different approach to this, and some of them have rather interesting plans. Overall, this volume felt really unmemorable and almost forgettable. We have already seen a White Day plotline, so this did not feel new or fresh, and it was pretty predictable based on what we already know about the characters. It is sweet to see Komi and Tadano getting closer, but it was not enough to really save this volume for me. I am hopeful the next volume will be more interesting.
This story just keeps on getting better and better. While one would admit the story has only progressed so far...the entire journey has been so enjoyable. This volume finds the celebration of White Day (pretty much the follow-up to Valentine's Day in which guys give thank you gifts to girls who gave them Valentine's Day chocolate). Komi makes what might be the MOST friends in a chapter and the school year comes to an end...setting up the final year in high school for Komi and the gang. Lots of laughs, fun moments and cute interactions...Komi Can't Communicate continues to be MUST READ material!
- everyone clearing out so komi and tadano can walk home together is so cute like they are the real g's - third year graduation! - tadano turning up for his date only to be kidnapped by masayoshi and shosuke so that they can vet him for komi is peak comedy and the fact that he wins them over too is so good - komi and rumi going shopping for her date adorableee - both of them wondering if they are good enough for each other aweeee - tadano and komi's date is so so cute - holding hands adorbs - rest of this volume was kinda meh
-Sweet graduation story that goes in typical Komi-fashion -White Day with the characters getting up to the usual antics! -Tadano and Komi first date... that is put on hiatus until Tadano can get dad's approval (Shosuke is also dragged along, poor guy)! Lol, I love this crazy family - the dad is so adorable! -Both of them are so cute and wholesome on their date! Following them always makes me smile... as do their date's spies' antics!

3.5 for this pretty cute instalment, mostly because Komi and Tadano finally go in a date. But, most importantly, Komi's dad and Tadano go in a date, lol.
But, there was too much of new less interesting characters in this volume, and not too much of some of our classic (and my favorite) ones.
Plus that whole part about pin ups was pretty odd and just felt like a filler.
So this is always a cute fun break of a read, but can't say this new addition amounts too much in the whole series.
Just when I thought this series jumped the shark when it finally brought Tadano and Shoko together as a couple in the last volume, it showed us that the best Komi to date might not be even her.
The best chapter in this volume is a guy date with Tadano and the Komi dad and son. A trio of chads show us how boys get to have their fun without the girls.
I really liked seeing Tadano and Komi's first date. I also enjoyed seeing Tadano's "date" with Komi's dad and brother. I liked that all in all, they had a good time and Komi's dad got to see what a kind person Tadano is. I really liked seeing the students in their class all sign in Komi's book of friends. This was a cute volume.
