Buried Secrets
A buried secret from the past is the catalyst for murder.
FBI Agent Derek Reed is back in Phoenix and in charge of his new cold case team, the Legacy Unit. Plagued by visions and nightmares from his previous case, Derek questions why the dead won’t leave him alone.
Billy Edmonds is found bludgeoned to death in his home. His connection to high level politicians and his close friendship with Congressman Jackson, gives the dead man special privileges.
When the Congressman pulls rank and puts Derek and his team on the case, Derek can’t help but wonder if he is being set up.

Can you ever bury a secret deep enough?
Buried Secrets is the second in the Derek Reed series – it’s definitely worth the wait. FBI Profiler Reed’s life is anything but normal no matter how much he tries to make it so. He continues to be tormented by nightmares and visions that seem all too real.
Special Agent in Charge Derek Reed is to run the Legacy Unit in a fabulous new work space, in Phoenix. His team, each personally chosen by him for their own individual strengths, get their first case before they’ve even assembled.
Congressman Jackson has requested Derek investigate the brutal murder of his friend. It soon becomes evident the killer is on a mission that they are hellbent on finishing. As the team investigate, they uncover secrets from the past that people thought they’d buried deep enough not to be found. Those people are now on edge as it becomes clear that Derek won’t let these secrets get in the way of the team finding and stopping a killer.
Buried Secrets is a very cleverly crafted and well thought out thriller. It doesn’t have you making guesses, it completely pulls you in, you are there with the team and the evidence , actively asking questions and trying to work it all out.
As with all Victoria’s books the characters are very individual. So well written you forget they aren’t real people. And YES, there are pets. Two wonderfully loyal furry friends.
There is also hint of what’s to come in the next book - sooooooo looking forward to that.

We are back with a new Victoria M. Patton read. And my excitement is real. Let's get to it.
Derek is officially back to work, leading his very own FBI cold case team, The Legacy Unit. Is he fully recovered from the happenings of book one, The Box? (IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THAT YOU MUST NEEDS GO TO DO THAT AFTER YOU ARE DONE READING MY BANANA PANTS RAMBLING). He's not but Derek isn't one to just sit around (PROBABLY WHY BOOK ONE WENT DOWN LIKE IT DID). Almost immediately he gets a case that is not cold at all and he was called in by someone high up the food chain. Let the murders begin. OH yea did I mention that Derek may or may not be hallucinating? MMHMM.
You all have no idea how long I've waited for this book. And I am not disappointed. If you like paranormal thrillers, you need to get on this. One of my favorite things about VMP is her ability to create immaculate character development. In this and her other series, Damien Kaine series, it's there in spades. And even with this just being book 2 you can still see that The Legacy Unit bond is beginning and growing. Also the ending absolutely sets up the next book beautifully. And by beautifully I mean I yelled WAIT WHAT?? and then the book ended. So yea...I'm ready for the next one.

I enjoy this series! Quick read. Suspenseful. Great characters. Wasn’t a fan of the ending. There is a lot going on here and the ending didn’t answer all the questions. There’s more to the story!!

Good read
2nd book I've read with Derek Reed and think this is just as good if not better than the first. I'm looking forward to getting the next.
