Atticus and Grace were each others salvation—up until they became the cause of each others pain.
“I gave you a choice, Grace. A chance to redeem yourself and what do you do? You curse me. You threaten me, you hit me. You bite me like a rabid dog. Knowing damn well I wouldn’t hit you back. But I will make your life miserable if you don’t do what I want. You owe me seven years and a chance to watch my child grow inside you. I want everything you robbed me of by running away and keeping my son from me.”
He was crazy.
“Have you completely lost your mind?” I screeched.
“Yes. Because of you,” he chuckled.
I twisted my body, but it was a futile effort. "Let me go or I’m going to scream."
The cold smile he gave me was unnerving.
"Do it." He let my throat go. I opened my mouth to do just that, but only a gasp came out because with his now free hand, he lifted my skirt and snatched my panties clean off in one tug.
Using his thick thigh, he forced my legs apart. He let go of my wrist, bent and gripped my right leg and hooked it over his arm. Spreading me open. I was forced to stop fighting against him and grab a hold of his shoulder to keep myself from falling.
“What are—”
"Shut up and scream, Grace. Come on, I'll do it with you.” he yelled in my face. “My wife is probably right outside the door. You seem to give a fuck about her feelings, but I don’t."
His voice was so loud I knew if she was outside she’d hear everything he was saying.
“I'd get off on her coming in and finding my dick buried inside you. You don’t know how fucking much I hate that woman.” He confessed.
I was warned that this was a very dark romance. I strongly, wholeheartedly disagree. “Dark” is too tame a word for this f*cked up tale.
Almost every page made my eyes burn with contempt, my heart bleed with distress, and my soul cry from despair. It felt like I was sucked up into a vortex of misery. I could not wait for this story to finish so all this f*ckery could stop.
I’m amazed with all the torment that Grace had endured.
Atticus was not a loving hero, but a soulless, obsessed, controlling a**hole.
There was no romance or love in this story. It didn’t end with an happy ever after, but a less f*cked up ever after.
I’m just happy to not be reading this book anymore.
🥀This is a first for me: H forces h to live with him AND his wife. In their HOME.
🥀Never thought I’d want to stick it out but here I am. Fascinated. Sickly so. Whodathinkit?
💔AND I’M FEELING SORRY FOR THE HERO!!!!!!!
💔 WHY MUST HE SUFFER SO??
🚨The evil ow goes too far and the h just clobbered…okay…maybe more than clobbered her…and now she’s showing the ow exactly who has the power, WHILE on her knees in front of the hero… behind a wall of glass, (home gym) onto which the ow is banging like she can break it down to get to the Hxh 🤣🤣
🤣Oh my God, the drama of it all
🎠🎠I feel like I’m on a merry go round and everything is flashing by way too fast 🎠I’m getting nauseas and wanna tell the operator to slow down so I can get my bearings 🎠I also know I’m getting right back on for another ride because it’s one of those books I need to finish fast on the first take then come back and do it slowly the next round. 🎠Maybe slowly.
❗️Way too short for all the shenanigans going on. The book feels like a condensed version. Like the abridged audiobook. I mean, everything’s there but not expounded on.
❗️Past and present jumping from pillar to post so it’s hard to keep up
❗️Why’s there no GR blurb?

Maybe I’m a hypocrite, but the book was ruined for me knowing he fucked his wife right before he got the h back in the end. Literally what was the point in that??? And him letting her live knowing she was the one who tried to have the h killed AND FUCKING HER AFTER HE KNEW?! It actually made me hate him. And all the years they were apart, the h never willingly was with another man but him. But he had a child with his wife and also fucked her after he was trying to get the h pregnant.
ALSO he slapped the h and never said two words about it. Yeah she slapped him too, which is equally as wrong especially knowing he was abused. However, he’s obviously much bigger than her and he never groveled.
Moral of the story: the H was a nasty hoe who wanted the best of both worlds
This is from the chapter right before the epilogue:
“But we fucked.” She shouted. Bringing my finger to my mouth. “Shut the fuck up!” I hissed. I snatched my eyes towards the open office door. Grace was down the hall, helping to pack the kids’ clothes and toys. I waited on drawn breath praying that she just hadn’t happened to hear what Sophia said. I scowled “Let those words come out of your fucking mouth again and I’ll personally snap your fucking neck.” I should have sent Sophia away the same night I got rid of my Grandfather, but she played me, said she wanted to stay until I found Tori. Later that same week she’d snuck into the guest room I’d been sleeping in. I woke up with my dick in her mouth. I didn’t even want to think about why I hadn’t kicked her out. I would add it to the pile upon pile of mistakes I had made in life.

I love the darker side of romance. I wish people who didn't enjoy kidnapping, dubious consent, etc wouldn't read the books that explicitly warn them of the content. Writing is a daunting task, and its a slap in the face to be negatively reviewed by a person who isn't into the genre, reads it anyway, and then gives a negative review. Well....I digress. But, if you enjoy dark romance this is for you, but if you want just a little seedy experience, RUN!
I was so excited to get this book and finally be able to read it, was already ready to follow this author and all since this is my first time reading this author, that my disappointment came at an all time high Grace was the worst female character ever. She was stupid, annoying, and so wrong for him. Atticus deserved someone more up class or at least less of a lie. She needs to go just like Sophia. In all honesty it’s not one specific thing that was wrong with this story. It was almost everything that involved Grace that was wrong, because really Atticus was bae all the way. The way he lived her and all even with the messed up way he showed it, was perfect. I had big plans to binge read this author, and me not listening to the reviews, got a very well deserved deceit. I know she will not be my go to author unless I truly have nothing else to read, and since authors bring out book faster nowadays than before, I don’t think I will have this problem into choosing something to read. Now my 2 stars are: 1) the story/plot was cute and very entertaining, and 2) because of Atticus, Tank , Aj and MS. Joy. They held up this book from start to finish….
A wild and crazy tale, but it worked. Sure there are some improbabilities, but it's a book, so that's allowed.😁😁😁 The author is uber talented, so I will definitely endeavor to read more of her works.
Not for me. DNF at 45%. It was too much. Too many negative things kept happening to the main character to the point of exhaustion. As a reader, it felt like it was never ending.
I used to give a major side eye to people who enjoyed finding ways to torture and kill their sims... and now I feel myself doing the same to authors who pile shitty situation after shitty situation onto their main characters. ::Spoiler:: the straw for me with this book is when Grace performs fellatio on the MMC's grandfather under the guise of "doing anything to survive". I just can't. Baby, that's just low. Ain't no coming back from that. At that point I don't even want the two main characters to get together.
I think I'm doubly disappointed because I was specifically looking for a dark romance with a black or bipoc female main character. I'm fine with angst but I find that I'm turning away from stories where the main character is dragged through the gutter. I can't shake the feeling that some authors are exercising some demons through the abuse of the characters and it makes me feel icky.
I've been waiting for Grace and Atticus story since "At First Sight" and boy what a story. I swear Ms. Davis is the only author I know that is able write a dark romance which by the way I typically pass on and leave me saying just wow. These characters were well written and so complex at the same time. What I love about a Shantel Davis is she pushes you to the edge and and pulls you right back in. Atticus character isn't an easier person to like or even root for but he is still commanding nevertheless. I love reading strong women characters and Grace was definitely that for me. Don't let the title "Saving Grace" fool you she held her own. Great read and I would recommend to those who enjoy reading dark romance with heroes being an A one don't give a F Aholes.
They have been in love with each other since they were kids. Lost & found each other only to lose each other again … but what meant to be will be. My goodness, how can one girl be assaulted by so many people in her life!!!??? Glad she finally got her HEA ! ‘Was recommend by Unique Words, LLC.
I was very excited when I saw Davis had released this novel as I have enjoyed her writing in the past. Unfortunately, this isn’t my favourite title of hers because the evil mother and awful wife trope has become repetitive. Plus, there were loads of grammatical errors. The constant abuse Grace experienced is a warning for readers as the back to back sad stories can be tough to read.
"Saving Grace" truly was "darker than!" Atticus was one twisted muthaf**ker, stemming from the abuse he endured at the hands of his father. But starting at age thirteen, Atticus loved Grace. Grace had ill sh*t happen to het growing up also, but she did not morph into cold-hearted, stone cold killer Roman as Atticus did. This was another great book by S. Davis and all I can say is "Well, damn!"
Loved all the drama and suspense this story brought out. It was like a mob boss movie in writing. Even family could get it if they crossed them. I loved Grace and Romans love affair.
This book had me on edge the entire read. Mind you I read in one sitting! Atticus was a complete psychopath but I love him!!! I need Damarco's store in my life!
Amazing book, I feel like even though atticus life was horrible he still treated grace horribly, I'm big on accountability and I feel like most men he was a I can do it but you can't type of man so he isn't my fave guy from Shantel many tales of men.. besides that I loved grace she was a strong woman but I hate her keep her mouth attitude when it came to atticus, she had so many come backs and just never used them.. but this was an amazing story and continuation/prequel of grace and Atticus 10/10 this is the only writer who has the balls to write bwwm dark romantic thriller romance and I applaud her cause it's never repetitive. Not all of us like vanilla sex some of us like the roughness of it all and she nailed it. Will recommend and read more from her..
Before I start saying how amazing, Saving Grace is, don’t outdo yourself, read all Shantel Davis’s other books. This author is absolutely fantastic, her books, her style of writing is different, but her books have the dark romance you crave, love the danger, the sexy sex scenes. It quite literally has everything you need in a really good book without it being over the top. I was gripped to the pages reading this book. I cannot wait for more books from this author.
Shantel thank you so much for a fantastic read. Please keep them coming.
This was a wild and toxic story. I'm still unpacking everything. The drama and trauma did not stop!!!! Atticus survived and that's all I can say about him. Grace thrived and that is insane. Take heed to this being a dark story and no romance in sight.
This was like a roller coaster ride that never ended. I loved all the twists and turns, dips and dives. This book had my attention from the beginning to end. Another great job by Shantel Davis! It’s a must read!!
I loved it honestly. At first I was thinking this is too rough for me but it was very good and the right amount of dark to keep my attention. I couldn't put it down!! If you don't like dark stories why read them and then complain? If it's a genre I don't like I wouldn't read it! Great job Shantel!!
Grace, the heroine is a lying, adulterous, opportunistic tramp. Atticus, the hero is a evil, obsessed rapist. Grace lied the entire book. She fought the man’s wife in the woman’s home. Just awful. No redeeming qualities at all. Dang. What a waste.
Well…. This book has me scratching my head and wondering what’s next after every page. It’s was very different in a very good way. Had my attention from the very start. They were soulmates if you can actually put a title to it. What they both went through was hell but they survived. Great job!!!
Grace and Atticus are gonna take you on an extremely emotional ride. From their first meeting to the end these two characters will have you laughing one moment, crying for/with them the next only to have you cursing them right after they have you wanting to burn the world down because of all the things they had to survive. Love AJ from the moment he's introduced and his initial encounter with Atticus was hilarious. Highly recommend this book.
This book was filled with all types of twists and turns and poor Grace seemed to be the one everyone was aiming to ruin for just living her life and loving a man everyone wanted a piece of.
So many secrets and lies. I hate they had to spend so much time apart. If Atticus would've forged the power. and the lie he owed his grandfather his life then alot of things could've been avoided.
