What have I done?

Everything was going so well. I have a job that I adore and I just earned my degree in library science.

I also have the best friends a girl could want, who weren't about to let my graduation pass without a celebration.

It's not their fault. They couldn't have guessed how it would turn out. If I can help it, they'll never know all those drinks lead to Marty's satisfied face smiling down at me in his bed the next morning.

My concern when we decided to share this apartment with the guys was that we'd be dealing with a steady stream of women running through Marty's bedroom, not that I'd be one of them.

The idea is laughable. Yes, he's good looking. Tall and muscular with golden brown skin from working out in the sun every day. It isn't hard to understand why women fall at his feet when they see him. But I know him.

This is the same guy who never misses a chance to take his shirt off to flex around women and once asked his Alexa to call him Daddy.

It's safe to say nothing will ever happen between us again.

S. M. Shade is the romcom Queen... yet she's also so masterful at weaving poignancy and heart into her comedic tales. I absolutely LOVED Marty. He's one of my favorite heroes I've read this year, and I even caught myself reading through happy tears at one very beautiful scene. The side characters were great (the ever hilarious Owen is back), and the love story developed authentically. This friends-to-lovers romance is a must read if you want belly laughs, swoony smiles, and maybe even a tear or two.

✨A TOP READ OF 2021✨

I FLOVE SM SHADE ROM-COMS!! She never fails to have me laughing so hard! This story was no exception! This one actually had me laughing so hard that my stomach was hurting! Marty and Zara were just fantastic! I loved the feminist aspect of this story and that it wasn't dropped! Marty was totally swoony! And for someone that was a womanizer through the other books in the series.... he fell HARD and it was a complete joy to see! Zara was 100% the PERFECT one for him! She made him WORK for it..... like he wasn't just going to charm his way into her heart and he had to do a lot more than just sexual things to get her love. These stories are so much fun to read and I usually devour them in about a day!

Seriously, when am I gonna learn??? Do not, I repeat, do NOT read this while laying in bed at night next to your husband (or whomever you might be lying next to) who is sound asleep. The laughter induced by this book will surely disturb their peaceful slumber.

After an alcohol induced one night stand, Marty wants more of Zara but she would rather pretend it never happened, well out loud anyway. Marty is the playboy who has to show the girl he wants that he's changed his ways, well not all of them but definitely the playboy ways. He's still fun, hard working, supportive and he uses what he learned in the bedroom to help him win Zara over.

Zara has to learn how to let others in, even though she knows she can do it all on her own. She's attracted to Marty but doesn't want to be so she fights it every step of the way. Until she finally realizes how much happier she can be when she has someone to share it all with.

I absolutely loved the epilogue we got as it gave us a glimpse of their future but I hate that we have now reached the end of the series. Shade is the Queen of romcom so I'm sure we'll see more awesome reads in the future. Until then, if you haven't read any of the Violent Circle or Slumming It books, what are you waiting for??? Go read them all now!

You will laugh your a$$ off with this one! So freakin’ funny! Very entertaining and a real enjoyable rom-com. I loved this group of friends! And, Zara and Marty’s story was a real hoot! You can definitely tell from that epilogue their kids will definitely are on their way to being just as outlandish;)

Two books to go to complete my reading challenge…

4.5 stars - this was a hilarious, sexy romcom.

"I want that. I want that easy affection. I want someone to miss me. Not just someone. Zara."

Zara and Marty have always had a fun, snarky relationship. He likes to flirt with her and she likes to bat him down. She's never taken him seriously because he is a bona fide manwhore. However, recently, Marty's realised that he wants more than a fling with a random woman. He wants to really matter to someone. He wants that someone to be Zara. A drunken night leads to some serious stealth moves on Marty's part in his quiet campaign to win her over but, as it happens, something else speeds things along between them.

"I know you melt underneath me and it p*sses you off...And I f*cking love it. I love to make you lose control."

This story was full of funny shenanigans with Zara, Marty and their housemates. I haven't read the other books in this series, but plan to get right on that! Zara had spent years avoiding being a notch on Marty's belt, yet I thought it was adorable how much he wanted something more with her. I loved his devotion and his certainty that no one else would do for him. I adored the way he caught her off-guard with his sweetness and kind gestures. Zara spent a lot of time doubting him, but I was thrilled when she gave in to her feelings and what was clearly growing between them. This was such a fun read with some crazy characters and amusing banter! LOL. Zara and Marty were sweet, hot and pretty adorable! Really enjoyed this story.

Zara is the snarky, feminist, intelligent, and quirky in her own right woman who is the object to Marty’s infatuation. They’ve been friends for years, and their unique friendship has evolved from something a lot different in recent months. When Marty has an accident that leaves him in need of help, Zara steps up. In her own way, she truly cares about the ones around her. Even Marty, who has a way of getting under her skin in just the right way. She’s had her eye on the prize for a while. Graduate, cultivate her career, and make sure her voice is heard among others. What she doesn’t expect is one drunk choice to change her path altogether.

Marty is the goof, the ridiculous guy of the friend group that isn’t always taken seriously. But, that’s just one layer to who he is at the core. Sure he’s had his man whore moments, but something happens to make him question all of that and more. The fact of the matter is, when one of his shenanigans turns into an accident and he needs help, all those who wanted something from him are now gone. Zara turns to him to help and he sees her in a different way than he ever has. He suddenly has a goal in mind, and that’s to make her see him differently. That is just solidified after a drunk choice changes both their views.

Their journey is one of hilarity, sweet moments, things that open your eyes, and serious thought-provoking moments. I loved everything about who they are as individuals. The fact that Marty embraced his own feministic layers made me so proud! This is a hilarious book and my favorite of the whole series. I can’t wait to read more!

5 lmao stars!!!

This is book three in the “Slumming It” series and can be read as a stand alone but I wouldn’t.

This author never fails to make me laugh my ass off!! This was never ending funny loving romance and comedy. This is so realistic I can see this happening in a neighborhood near me. BAHAHAHA!!

The author is amazing in her ability to make you fall in love with these characters. The raw honest friendships these characters have is amazing. She also throws in realistic problems we have all faced or someone we know has faced. I adore this author and I LOVE every book I have ever read of hers.

If you need a good laugh and just a damn good book this is one you need to read!!

Incorrigible is a wonderful addition to this must-read series. It has fabulous characters; a great storyline and lots of moments that will bring a smile to your face.

I adore Marty. He may now be my favourite guy in this series, taking the title from Owen – maybe I need to reread Overachiever just to make sure 😉 I love Zara - I found her to be a wonderful leading character. I absolutely love being with the whole gang who always bring so much fun to these stories. I sadly found however, that this story didn’t make me laugh out loud as the previous two did which was such a shame. There are still some fabulous comedy moments throughout which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This may be the final book in the Slumming It series by S.M. Shade which saddens me. However, I’ll not be saying goodbye to Violent Circle just yet as I still have that series to read which I am excited about.

I award Incorrigible 4 stars. Hopefully this isn’t the last we see of Marty, Zara, Owen, Remee, Kelly and Layton. I’d love to have a catch up with them all, sometime in the future.

Incorrigible- S M Shade
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Incorrigible is book three in the Slumming It series from the brilliant S.M. Shade.

I waited impatiently for this final book in the series and I absolutely loved it .
S M Shade created another amazing story, once again immersing you in the hilarity of the Violent Circle crew. A fabulous enemies to lovers trope, or more like frenemies to lovers.
Zara is smart and independent and knows exactly how she can accomplish anything without relying on a man in her life . Marty is the epitome of a man whore but he owns it proudly.
A drunken night, not in usual for Violent Circle, changes everything for Zara & Marty.
A brilliantly crafted storyline from SM Shade and her characters are as always, superbly simple, yet complicated in their own inimitable ways. Epic humour and the killer dialogue between all the characters will have you laughing until you cry.

This definite must read and one of the funniest books I’ve read in 2021.

Zara and Marty's book is what I was waiting for this entire series. Both have been dancing around one another for a long time. Driven, focused, Zara refuses to focus on anything but her schooling and then her career. Marty has been in her orbit but never on her radar. He's a self-described man whore with a reputation of one-night stands. The larger friend group moves in together at the end of Overachiever. One night of celebrating leads both on a journey of self-discovery.
I loved this series. The story moves really fast, with lots of laughs, some tears, and some great insight to the entire cast of characters on Violent circle and where their future lies.
Once again SM Shade is a genius with her balance of feelings and humor. I think she, like myself must channel an inner twelve year old at all times, because sometimes I literally laughed my ass off. If you like sassy, spicy and sometimes sweet books with a dash of angst - this book (this whole series to be honest) is worth the read.

This book is the perfect escape! Not only is it hilarious, but it taught me a new phrase I can’t wait to shock people with vs just saying no hahaha. It has the funny moments we love, the embarrassing moments we have to hide from the screen in second hand embarrassment mode, and the feel good HEA we didn’t know we needed. The author is so talented, the way she brings the story to life and sucks you in. Such an amazing read, everyone should read it so we can talk about the level of awesomeness this book is!

Zara has a job she loves, friends and a life she enjoys from day to day. Marty is the good looking guy that has women tripping over themselves to be with him. Zara never expected a drunken one night stand to happen between them. Things are complicated and hilarious as they are roommates trying to keep their night secret. A fun, flirty read.

How appropriate for SM Shade to write a book called Incorrigible!

I love Violent Circle, honestly, it’s more fun than most places, and the chaos is amazing! But the friendships, well those are epic. And here we have one of those friends-to-lovers/baby… with Z and Marty no less.

Seriously, the comedy is on point, there are scenes and one liners that had me bursting out laughing throughout, and the romance, swoon. Yup, I said swoon.

Well written N/A rom com with spicy romance scenes, silly situations and full of light-hearted entertainment. I'm probably not the targeted reader age, so a miss for me. It still won't stop me trying more books by this author. (I loved the last book I read.) The epilogue was fun.

Incorrigible is without a doubt my favorite laugh-out-loud book of 2021.

Zara is a bit reserved, preferring to observe the craziness in the neighborhood rather than participate in it. She's also sassy and quick-witted, and she's unquestionably my new favorite in this series. She had a vision of her future, and it didn't include her playboy roommate, until it did.

Marty fits into Violet's circle because he's outgoing, doesn't mind making a fool of himself, and has just the right amount of crazy and his own brand of swoon. I can't express how much I adore him; his easy-going demeanor and wit provided many laughs, but it was the way he supported Zara that cemented his place as a favorite book boyfriend.

Marty and Zara's chemistry was thick in the air, and you could feel it on every page. The push and pull between them, one pushing away while the other drew closer, their witty banter and close proximity fueled the flame until their chemistry was downright tantalizing.

I'm not sure I've ever laughed so hard while reading; I had to stop reading because tears of laughter streamed down my face. This zany group of friends' antics were at an all-time high, and each of the characters seemed to be extra witty.

I've been reading this series and the previous one set in the same world since the beginning, but there was something extra special in the pages of Incorrigible, and Shade is certainly bringing this world to a close with a bang.

Incorrigible is the ultimate escape from reality, a spellbinding blend of tantalizing chemistry, a strong heroine, a swoony hero, rife with laugh out loud antics and clever banter, sprinkles of feels, and steam, all of which adds up to a top laugh out loud feel-good romance of 2021.

This book is really 3.5 but I rounded down, not up. I read it without reading the others in the series first, and it worked well as a standalone.

It's a fairly straightforward plot and basically if you read the blurb or the Kindle sample, you'd have a pretty good idea of where this is going. There aren't any Big Misunderstandings, and the author tries to bring more depth to Zara's character by having her be a feminist and even want to attend a protest rally or demonstration. Marty is painted as the reformed manwhore who now realises that he Wants More(TM) and since Zara has been such a caring friend, plus sex with her was off the charts, she's who he wants.

Friends-to-lovers is my favourite trope; I always like that the two main characters already know each other well and are familiar with each other's quirks when they start falling in love. Oddly enough, I liked Marty more than Zara, because he was honest about his feelings with her and he stayed constant. Meanwhile, I didn't get why Zara was so closed up with him, since she had great, loving parents -- her hesitancy didn't make sense, once she accepted that Marty was serious about no longer playing the field. Zara was frustrating and lived too much in her own head. I especially didn't like how she said that it was not just her decision to make, but his too, then she went on to freeze him out and avoid him for two weeks while she tried to decide what she should do next. So much for involving him in the decision-making process!

It was a fast and easy read, something I won't remember by this time next week, which is why I couldn't round it up to four stars.

Though I am sad to see it end, the series ended perfectly!

I have loved every book, and character, of the Slumming It series and it is always hard to say good-bye to a favorite, especially when they’ve become a family. And these characters have become family. I thought for sure no one could beat Owen and Remee as my number one, but here come Zara and Marty and they somehow slid into the number one spot and stole my heart!

I love a fierce, independent, don’t need no man and can do it on my own, but totally needs her friends and loves the occasional hook-up with no strings attached, woman. She’s got her life mostly put together - got the job, did it mostly on her own, on her way to the rest of her life that SHE paved her own her path to. I love that about Zara. I also love that she is just a bit too independent when Marty pops into her bubble.

I FREAKING LOVE MARTY. If I could just cut him out, blow him up and somehow make him into a real person, he would be it. Like he would be my perfect man. Smart, hard-working, super-supportive, says the right things, a little bit of an idiot at times but what man isn’t, super, super funny. I mean, he’s really perfect! And he really loves Zara. Like, loves loves her, even when Zara is being stubborn and doesn’t yet realize that maybe she loves him back. And he’s so patient and understanding and, just gah! He melts my heart!

This book was everything I needed! It had me laughing out loud so many times and even brought a tear or two to my eyes. I am sad to see the series end, hate saying good-bye to characters I’ve become invested in, but what a beautiful way to end the series. S.M. Shade gave Violent Circle the ending it deserves and I loved spending so many nights there!

I don't know why I kept reading.

The plot is basically friends to lovers.
One night stand and then a couple problems, the guy is already in love and needs to convince her to give him a chance, she's like oh, no, she then realizes she's pregnant and then suddenly she also loves him. They got together, a couple misunderstandings more and then HEA.

I really liked the beginning, the dynamic between all the friends in the house.

But I started having my doubts when the h punches a woman and then kind of choke her (the woman was an drug dealer, but still).
My suspicious were confirmed later when they go to a protest for a woman who has been assaulted and his attacker is not getting charged, I liked that the characters showed their support and that the topic is treated in the book because is, sadly, something common. But I couldn't find in me to find funny or entertaining or kind of poetic justice, the fact that a horrible person says something extremely stupid, ignorant and prejudiced and the h's reaction is to flip off her t-shirt and physically attack (it could've been with an arm, a leg, but it was with a boob - ¿haha?) said person. I mean, I was reading like what??? I was expecting a drop-the-mic reaction, like in-your-face maybe, but not like that.

After that all that the little jokes or "funny" parts were just ridiculous.
The 'I love you's felt kind of forced I don't know.
The jokes with the roommates' bedroom action got old really quick.

Sadly this one was not for me.

Laugh Out Loud Rom-Com Full To The Brim With Feels!😂🔥💘🌟
A Wonderful 4.5 Star Read!🌟
Incorrigible: Slumming It #3

Zara & Marty wake up together after a drunken one night stand. She's in shock that she's slept with her room mate, he sleeps around constantly & is proud of it, much to her judgemental but jokey disgust. Marty is over the moon that Zara finally excepted their chemistry & acted on it. He's disappointed when she doesn't immediately want to do it again!🙈

After a few months of keeping their friendship on track, with a couple of slips along the way, Marty insists on attending a protest with with her. Not only is he worried for her safety, but after reading more about the case, he's 100% on board to support the women's rights activism side of it!🙏 Zara finally admits to herself that Marty has changed since she first met him. He has become more stable, settled & mature! She's finding it harder to tell herself to stay away from him.😍

The situational comedy aspects had me howling with laughter.😂 I'm really poorly, with a bad chest infection, so every laugh set off a coughing fit #stillworthit😂 Owen was as crazy & hilarious in this book as he was when he & Remee fell for each other in their own.😂🙈 I'm going to miss Violent Circle, it's been a fabulous setting for two series.💖 This was a fantastic goodbye. 👋 Don't miss this warm hearted, funny, emotional & romantic series finale.🌟

I received an ARC for an honest review.

So, I loved Marty and Zara! And this book, while not quite as funny as the first two for me, still made me laugh out loud. Especially the dog toy scene 😂! I guess just after reading the first two I was just expecting something different/more. Now, don't get me wrong, I adored this book, but something was just off for me. Now, that being said, let me tell you all the great things about this book! Two things.....Marty and Zara. These two are so wonderful. His total commitment to Zara was fabulous to watch unfold. He is so patient with her and continues to show her that he is it! He is the one! And the unexpected news, Marty's reaction was priceless. And it was so amazing to watch Zara grow as a character. And I do understand her hesitation at first to being in a relationship with Marty, but so glad she finally gives in and they both grow as adults. And I loved the glimpses of the past characters and all the different characters on Violent Circle!! And that epilogue....😍!! It just makes me want more! This was a fabulous break from my normal angst ridden books. This was a great laugh out loud, lighthearted read! My fingers are crossed that this isn't the end for Violent Circle!

“Incorrigible” is the 3rd book in the Slumming It Series. Once again, we get to peek into the lives of the Violent Circle residents. We had gotten glimpses of Zara and Marty in the earlier books, and I was intrigued with those glimpses. I was not disappointed in the journey that these two characters take.

The author has a way of dealing with heavy issues, particularly feminism, that is done is a way that sneaks up on you. The conversations between the roommates in this story are done in a way that is very approachable and extremely effective.

S.M. Shade is an author that I can always count on for not shying away from the absurd, yet it is still so “in character”. She is also an author that literally has me laughing out loud throughout the book. My husband even asked this time if I was reading that one author again, because I kept laughing as I was reading.

She has the ability to interlace serious topics with slapstick that is sorely lacking in the world of romance books.

I really hope we get Serena and Griffin’s stories.

A cute funny romance!

This book had me laughing-out-loud ... just like all the books in this series. It was really nice, that for change, neither one of them were billionaires ... Zara is a librarian and Marty is a roofer ... just everyday ordinary people living their lives. I loved the banter between all the characters and the antics they got into had me laughing so hard I was crying. If you're looking for a book to lift your spirits ... pick any book in this series.

Zara and Marty are friends and a group of them live together. After a night of partying, Zara wakes up beside Marty ... naked. She doesn't remember anything and hopes that he doesn't either. Yeah ... Marty may have been drunk, but he remembers EVERYTHING! He has wanted Zara for a long time now and even stopped sleeping around ... well, mostly. Now all he has to do is convince Zara that he's serious about them having a future together.

I laughed and I laughed. SM Shade definitely knows how to write awkward scenes that have you laughing out loud, and gorgeous connections between characters, that don’t make sense on paper. Marty is a total goof, who has developed some serious feelings for his good friend Zara. Unfortunately for him, she still thinks he’s the guy who has fun with lots of girls. Even after a drunken night together, Marty has his work cut out for him to prove he’s sincere about wanting to be with her, and only her.
This book was super easy to read. Even the scenes that would be mortifying in real life, the characters reactions made it ok to laugh with them. Even when life throws them a giant curve ball or two. Marty and Zara were both fun characters who can take things seriously, even Marty, but still keep their sense of humour.
A really enjoyable story, it just flew by and I had a grin on my face the whole time.

This is the third book in the Slumming It series. It follows a friends to lovers journey between Marty and Zara. Marty is your typical cocky playboy with a golden heart. Zara is the epitome of strong and independent. A drunken night together leads forces them to navigate a new dynamic that they didn't see coming.

This book was a quick read. My favorite part were the laugh out loud moments. S.M. Shade always comes through with the comedic timing! Marty and Zara turn out to be the perfect combination of Yin and Yang to balance each other out! There is a reason "they" say opposites attract!

While the main plot of each book focuses on romantic relationship development, it's the friendships that stand out for me the most. The bond between this entire group of friends is really endearing and fun to read!

OMG I wish I lived in Violent Circle! They have the best time there! The whole Slumming It series is just beyond amazing, I swear I laughed so hard out loud in this book that it woke my cat up. Marty and Zara bicker and banter right into falling in love with each other before they even know what hit them. This was a perfect book to read while decompressing from family gatherings because you will laugh so hard you'll forget and get lost inside their world, look up and realize an hour has passed just like that lol. There is alot of back and forth with these two and I loved it, made it that much hotter in some parts. They are both super passionate, out spoken, and hilarious, all wonderful traits, I did not want to see these characters go! I really hope this author brings us back to Violent Circle to keep up with everyone, its just too fun a place to say goodbye to!

Tis the season of stress and anxiety, want a break from it? Read this book, and I promise your stress will simply float away. This is the third book in SM Shade’s Slumming it series and they just keep getting better and better!

Zara and Marty love to hate each other, until they don’t. Take a trip back to the Violent Circle and spend time with the residents, this is a special place with crazy characters and the very best of friends.

SM Shade is one of my 1Click authors because she has never let me down. This series is funny, you will laugh out loud. This series has heart, you will fall for these characters as they fall for each other. This series is steamy, you are definitely going to blush but in the middle of that will be laughing as well.

I just can’t say enough about this series except that you need to just read them all, you will be better for it!!

2) Overachiever
3) Incorrigible
