When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.
I like the basic story, but Jo can be rather annoying. She's hardworking, she takes good care of her own animals and any other animal (like Moxie) that needs help. But she can be just a bit annoying, like when she went to pick up the goats she had already paid for (and had a receipt to prove it) but gets all wishy washy about not taking them with her when she leaves DeeDee's farm. She tends to be a little plodding and boring; not something you like to see in a main character. It would be good to see some spontaneity in her. Some fun. I don't think she laughs very often. I don't remember anymore how old she's supposed to be, but she comes across as someone who feels like she should be home in bed by 8:00 every night.
Another will written murder mystery family and friends relationships adventure thriller short story by Patti Benning (Homespun Crochet Cozy Mystery book five). Jo has purchased two goats when she goes to pick them up ☝ she finds a murder scene. The police investigation leads to the arrest of a man 🚹. But Jo and a friend find the murderer. I would recommend this novella series and author to 👍 readers looking for a quick mystery read. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa read books 📚. 2023 👒😤😉
Jo finds herself finding blood in a barn while looking for the owner as she picks up a couple of goats she has purchased. This leads to the town to search for the owner and soon a dead body is found.
Once again Jo gets caught up into things as she stumbles on the murderer. Watch as she stumbles into action. A charming cozy to devour.
Another short but very good mystery in a cute little series. Even when there aren't many suspects and you'd think it'd be easy to guess whodunit, this author very cleverly plants enough doubt that at least with me anyway, it takes me till the end or the reveal to find the whodunit. I was so glad to see Nick and Jo getting closer and having an actual date. I'll be borrowing the next one on KU when it's out!
This is such a fun series. It has mystery, small town warmth, strong friendships, a little bit of romance. The characters are straight talkers and good hearted. The mystery is well plotted and the storyline interesting and informative. I always learn something about farm animals, this time it was goats.
A perfect way to spend a few hours. Definitely a book you should read.
Jo agrees to buy two cashmere goats from a nearby rancher. When she goes to pick them up the women who owns them is no where to be found. The mystery deepens as there is blood found in the barn. The mystery grows as the goats go missing. A fun small town murder mystery.
Loved the storyline. I like that she is adding new animals to her farm. It's fun to watch the farm & the characters grow throughout this series. Light, well written cozy mystery. I look forward to reading more.
I have read all the books in this series (so far) and have not been disappointed in any of them. This was the best of them all. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mystery, animals, hobbies and a little romance. Great work. Look forward to more in this series.
I like that Jo is adding to her farm bit by bit. I was a bit stumped by who the killer was and their motive. Patti did an excellent job of not revealing it too soon.
I enjoy this series of quick, fun reads, even though I’ve figured out whodunnit every time. The storytelling, and the fact that I’m a big fan of crocheting both have a lot to do with why I enjoy it even though I’ve guessed the guilty party each time. I am learning a lot about livestock too! LOL
