Alex Dixon Humorous Mysteries #1

by Katrina Kyle

She drinks. She cusses. She’s wanted by the US Government. Meet Alex Dixon, Southern California’s newest accidental detective.

Alex Dixon has problems. She’s unemployed, unattached, and may or may not be in hot water with her former employer, the US Navy.

But, right now, her friend has bigger problems—her lover is missing, her job is on the line and a little girl is in desperate need of a life-saving operation.

On the idyllic island of Coronado, Alex puts her state-sponsored snooping skills to the test and begins her hunt for the missing lover. The last thing she expects is a rekindled friendship with the sexy Navy SEAL who nearly broke her heart.

Alex soon uncovers the missing man ran an amateur porn ring, and that making dirty movies wasn’t the only business he was in.

When the porn king is found murdered, Alex has a whole list of suspects who wanted him dead. But as she begins to zero in on the killer, the killer zeroes in on her, and it becomes a race against time to see who comes out alive.

Action packed mystery with an ex-navy officer pulled into a missing person situation by a friend and former navy friend. But the twist is, Alex is Alexandria. What follows is a Stephanie Plum type main character minus a goofy sidekick. An involved plot, interesting characters, action packed, and great descriptions add up to a fun read. It was a little confusing at a couple points because of the number of characters and locations, but the mystery was a good one with many humorous moments! I would definitely read another book in the series as this one was enjoyable and engaging.

I enjoyed reading it - however I am crotchety about poor use of pronouns (grammatical errors) which means a star less in my rating system, and- I have been trying to think of a polite way of saying this and have failed - I think the title is crap. It does not really relate to the content and hints at gutter language that is not respectful of women. (sorry - that is my soapbox opinion) Received as a complimentary copy from the author in return for an honest review.

Loved it!

Loving this series right from the start. Alex has resigned from the Navy and is now unsure what she’ll do. So far moping around isn’t going to cut it. Maybe helping her good friend find a missing boyfriend will do it. Looking forward to more mysteries with Alex, Addy, and Judy!!

Fast paced hilarious murder mystery with some of the wildest women in decent literature. Once I started it, I don’t think I put it down. Great characters, murder and romance thrown in.

A mystery that will keep you guessing until the end. Ms. Kyle writes an action-packed thriller with an unusual subject.
