I am a mess right now. Honestly, I have no idea where to begin because Corruption has my mind reeling. But let's start off with this: I will read anything this woman writes. I've read pretty much every novel written by Jess Shirvington with the exception of Empower (the last book to the Violet Eden Chapters) and each book gets better than the next; I can see this author's writing skills getting better and better with each book. And this latest series she's just written? Totally swept me off my feet.
Maggie's world came crashing down when the person she had always believed in and loved, betrayed her. Now, after being trapped in a dark room for weeks and weeks, she's more than ready to fight back. Maggie Stevens has become a female protagonist that I've become to idolise. Sure, she's a bitch at times, struggles to trust people, is always manipulating, but her inner strength, resourcefulness and witty remarks are what bring her on top. She isn't your typical kick-ass protagonist and brings a wagon-full of flaws with her, but it's hard not to love her for all her other qualities.
Corruption brings us constant heart-stopping action and an intense storyline. There wasn't once where I didn't feel like my hands were digging into the covers of the book, and yes, I finished this book in one sitting. Corruption, while is very much action-centered still explores all our characters more. We do get into finer details with Maggie's character--and her struggle with trusting people--but also her relationships with her family, Quentin and good ole' Gus. There's so much more character development in here, and each page was well spent.
Romance-wise, Jess Shirvington doesn't disappoint. Quentin and Maggie's relationship is a very fragile one, and I absolutely loved watching them try to mend it and make it stronger. The romance for me was a little overpowering and over-done, admittedly (just like in Disruption), but I'm not complaining! These two are full of swoons.
Now, it's time to talk about that terrible thing. ONLY, click the spoiler if you've read Corruption.
Corruption was exactly the kind of conclusion I was looking for. Full of action, absolutely thrilling and characters you can root for, this is definitely a series that I will be recommending highly of for several years to come. I am curious to see what Jess Shirvington has brewing for her next book, and there's no doubt that I will be reading whatever it is!

Kitapla ilgili en büyük sorunum aslında kitabın son derece klişe olması. Baştan sona kadar, 360 küsür sayfa boyunca, kitapta gerçekleşen olaylardan bir tanesi bile mi şaşırtmaz beni? İşin kötü yanı, şaşırmam gerektiğini hissettiğim yerlerde bile şaşırmadım. Hangi olaylardan bahsettiğimi spoiler vermeden anlatma şansım yok, o yüzden detaya inemeyeceğim, ama Panzehir'in okuduğumuz 923848234 genç yetişkin distopyadan hiçbir farkı yok.
▪ Kitabın büyük bir bölümü, kitabın sonlarına doğru gerçekleşmesi planlanan Kötü Hükümeti/Şirketi/Kişiyi Devirme Planı'na hazırlık olsun diye koşuşturmakla geçiyor.
▪ İki ana karakterimiz (burada Maggie ve Quin) arasında güven ve sadakat gerginlikleri oluyor: "Güvenecek miyiz/güvenmeyecek miyiz?" ile "Beni affedecek mi/affetmeyecek mi?" durumlarının bir karışımı olarak düşünebiliriz.
▪ Bütün olayların içine daha çok aile üyesi karışıyor! Meğersem "A kişisinin B akrabası", okuyucuyu şaşırtması beklenen "C olayının" bir parçasıymış! Yıl 2017, bunun şaşırtıcı bir yanı kaldı mı?
▪ Kız tek başına kötü hükümeti/şirketi/kişiyi devirmeye çalışırken, birden aslında daha büyük bir grup isyancı olduğunu öğrenir ve tabii ki de hemen bu isyancı grubunun en önemli insanlarıyla toplantılar almaya başlar.
▪ Öleceğini Asla Tahmin Etmediğiniz (tahmin etmiştiniz) karakter ölür. Çünkü ölüm şaşırtıcıdır!! Çünkü ölüm gerçektir!! Çünkü yazar kesinlikle acımasız ve kesinlikle yumuşak değil, yoksa bu karakteri nasıl öldürebilirdi ki??
Yumuşak demişken... ya kitapta gerçek anlamda kötü hiçbir şey olmuyordu. Belki kitabın sonundaki birkaç mecburi ölümü saymazsak, gerçek bir "isyan/devrim/vb" olduğunu hiç hissetmedim. Karakterlerimizden neredeyse hiçbir şey eksilmedi. Maggie evet belki kitabın başında 4 hafta tutsak edildi, yemek çok az verildi, ışık hiç göremedi ama bu kadar yani. Nerede patlayan bombalar? Ölen insanlar? Kaybedilen savaşlar??
▪ Mecburi kaybedilen savaş hariç. O vardı. Kitabın ortalarına doğru kahramanlarımız, çok da yıkılmaz olmadıklarını hissetsinler diye yerleştirilmiş bir adet başarısızlık.
Of daha fazla yazmayacağım. Sadece kitapta HER ŞEY o kadar klişeydi ki, sanki Panzehir adlı birk kitap değil de, Smosh'un "Every YA Distopia Ever" videosu falan. (Smosh izlemiyorum ama bu tarz videoları olduğunu görmüştüm.) Bir tek ilginç fikir, bir tek orijinal hareket yoktu ve okuması çok yorucuydu.
Parazit'i çok sevdiyseniz ve eğer pek distopya okumadıysanız, yukarıda saydığım şeyler size çok bariz ortada şeyler gibi gelmiyorsa, Panzehir'i sevebilirsiniz. Ama distopya türüne aşinaysanız seveceğinizi sanmıyorum. Ya da dediğim gibi, benim kitap zevkim değişti şu son bir yılda.
Kitaba da 1 yerine 2 vermemin tek nedeni, ara sıra birkaç sahnenin hoşuma gitmesi. Birkaç sahneyle kurtardı. İnanın bana bu kitabı sevmemiş olmak beni çok üzüyor çünkü Jessica Shirvington'ın diğer iki kitabını (Parazit & İki Hayat Arasında) gayet severek okumuştum. Maalesef Panzehir gol olamadı.

You know how dystopians end up taking a utopian approach in the end? The government/technology/spies were evil and they've controlled us for too long. It's time we controlled them and threw them to the bottomless pits of Moria for the Balrog to feast on?
Not exactly realistic.
This dystopian knew better. Perhaps being set only nine years in the future contributed to the fact. But one way or another, this dystopian knew better. As to how it chose to leave things, well... spoilers. But if you can get your hands on this (puzzlingly?) Australian-only duology, the answer is right there.
And the road to this more sociologically-aware ending was entirely too entertaining.

I was hooked after the first book and this one was even better. More action, more romance, more danger, just....more. A truly fun duology that I loved every minute of and just couldn't get enough of. This is a must for anyone.

Tadını çıkaraa çıkaraa okudum kaç günde 😅 ilk kitaptan daha iyiydi bence genel olarak aksiyonlu bir o kadar da komikti. Gus'ın laf yetiştirmeleri beni benden aldı zaten favorim gus oldu keşke böyle arkadaşlara sahip olsam başka birşey istemem herhalde Quin de tatlıydı Travis,Morriste ama ne biliyim Gus kalp ben ❣ Yine Serap abla bana güzel bir kitap okuttu o almasa unutmuştum bile bu kitabi🤗

About: Corruption is a fiction novel written by Jessica Shirvington. It will be published on 3/7/17 by HarperCollins, 435 pages. This duology composed of book 1 called Disruption and book 2 called Corruption. The genres are young adult, dystopia, science fiction, and romance. This book was originally published in 11/1/14 in Australia.
My Experience: I started reading Corruption on 2/10/17 and finished it on 2/15/17. This book is filled with so much actions and pleasures! I love this duology! This book continues where Disruption left off. The main character and the only point of view in this duology is Maggie (Mags/Margaret) Stevens and she was locked up, hungry, and left in the dark. Even it feels like the end is near, she still try her best to survive. In book 1, Maggie’s main focus was to rescue her dad. In book 2, Maggie finds out what’s been hidden from her and she will have to make a tough decision to set everything right again. Maggie is an awesome badass heroine. What I love most about her character is that she always challenge people and questions everything instead of accepting the answers or instructions given to her. It makes reading this book exciting because Maggie always evaluate the possibilities, her strategies, and her surroundings before taking action. I like that a lot and I enjoy following her thoughts.
“I couldn’t be the person everyone wanted. I could only be me. And right now, the only version of me I could cope with was the one who got things done.” p210
I love Gus in this book! He’s full of comebacks. I like his friendship with Maggie. I like that he has mad skills with the computer. I like the witty banter between him and everybody, but especially with Maggie. The first book introduces the technology called Phera-Tech which helps rate love compatibility where the best side is true match while the opposite side inform them that they are a neg. A neg is a person likely to cause trouble and is therefore send to a rehabilitation center to improve themselves. M-Corp is a corporation owned by Garrett Mercer who controls this technology. His youngest son is Quentin (Quin) Mercer and he’s hot. He’s described as good looking and I liked him more in book 1, but book 2, Gus definitely dominate my attention.
“Fighting back doesn’t make us villains. We tried. And yeah, we failed. But that can’t be an excuse to give up. We just have to find another way.” p278
The technology play a big role in this book and how Maggie’s family and Quin’s family is involved in all of it. There’s a group of people who called themselves Pre-Evo or Preference Evolution that is against the future of this technology. Phera-Tech does more than finding your true love, it also monitors a person’s heart rate, fatality, even provide contraception, and many more. Whereas a technology provide benefits for the people, there are those that have different intentions. Besides the tech talks and the intense scenes, there are some family love, friendship love, and other love in between. This duology is awesome and I highly recommend the read!
Pro: page turner, heart-pumping, mind-racing, adrenaline rush, awesome characters and plot, humor, twists & turns, strategy, suspense, badass

Can I rate this without even reading it? No? Oh. Well, too bad.

March 4, 2017Sadly, I didn't like Corruption as much as the first book in the duology, Disruption. Just as in the Divergent books, Disruption was more dystopian and more romance-y, whereas this one was more like ALL subsequent books in YA dystopian duologies and trilogies -- filled with rebels sneaking around on missions, something I'm not such a fan of.
While I liked the big twist in Disruption () I was un-awed by the twists here, which mostly concerned the fact that

Wow, what a crazy rollercoaster this book turned out to be! So many twists and turns, so much action and drama, so much fun!
I really enjoyed this duology and will have a review coming soon to my blog!

This, the sequel to Disruption, was better than the first one. The writing was slicker, although I think it was a little long in the middle, and there were some twists that I didn't see coming, whereas I picked up on them in the first one. All in all, it was an enjoyable sequel (and conclusion) and I was satisfied with both the resolution and the evolution of the characters.

Gerçekten çok güzeldi... Uzun zamandır böyle genç distopya türünde bir kitaba tutulmamıştım. İlk kitap çok etkiledikten sonra ikincisi acaba beklediğimi vermeyebilir mi endişesi vardı ama öyle olmadı. Çok heyecan dolu, beklenmedik olaylarla bezenmiş, doyurucu bir finalle tamamlanan bir seri oldu. Karakterlerin gelişimi takdire şayandı. Quentin sayesinde uzun bir süre sonra yeniden bir kitap karakterine tutulma zevkini yaşamış oldum. Ayrıca Maggie ilk kitapta hoşuma gitmeyen özelliklerini fark ederek törpüleme yoluna gitti. İlginç bir teknoloji resmedilmişti ve bunun ne kadar kötüye kullanabileceğini gördük. Ve Gus... Ah Gus... Gerçekten favori karakterlerimden biriydi ve tabii ki böyle sevilen, sempatik, sadık karakterlerin sonu hep aynı oluyor...

Jessica Shirvington, kalbimi yine paramparça ettin!
Parazit’i bitirdiğim andan itibaren Panzehir’i okumak için çıldırıyordum. Kitabı aldıktan sonra seriye veda etmemi geciktirmek için bir süre okumayı reddettim tabii, orası ayrı konu. Ama daha fazla erteleyemeyeceğimi kabul ederek başladım.
Yazarın dili inanılmaz akıcıydı ve aksiyonu fazlasıyla yerindeydi. Bir gün gibi bir sürede kitabı tükettim. Ama ben de TÜKENDİM. Olanları sindiremiyorum. Hiç hazırlıklı değildim. Evet her şey mükemmel ilerleyemez bir yerde bir şeyler olacağını biliyordum fakat bunu bilmek pek de işe yaramıyor.
Ayrıca Mags ve Quin’in babalarından ilk sayfadan son sayfaya kadar nefret ettim. NEFRET!

Never have I been so glad to be an audiobook listener than with this series. The first book only recently released in the US, but both books have been available on audio thanks to the Australian publisher for ages, so I immediately downloaded this sequel. Another plus, it's only a duology. And as I said, it's from the land down under, and I've never met a book from an Australian author that I didn't like. But this series? This series is phenomenal. If I thought the first book was insane, I was nowhere near prepared for this conclusion. The absolute brilliance of this series leads me to believe that I must, at all costs, read everything else Jessica Shirvington has ever written.

DUOLOGY REVIEW
I’ve been in a Aussie YA phase the past couple of weeks, so when I came across Disruption and Corruption by Jessica Shirvington, an Australian author, I didn’t hesitate to borrow them and dive right into them. These books aren’t my typical kinds of reads, but they were entertaining in every way and I had no trouble sinking myself into the story.
What made both Disruption and Corruption work well for me was all the character growth. In the beginning, particularly in the first book, I struggled a lot with Maggie, our protagonist. She was a smart and hard-edged character who kept her emotions well-hidden. As much as I loved that she was focused and determined on saving her father, I also struggled with how manipulative she was, using people along the way and nearly destroying them emotionally. However, Maggie matures a lot throughout the duology, the events in her life forcing her to do so. By the beginning of Corruption, I really loved the kind of girl she had become – tough, but also vulnerable, compassionate and caring. Jessica Shirvington made her go through hell and more in these books, but I loved that Maggie was the kind of girl who rose from every failure, even stronger and even more determined than before.
Quentin, Maggie’s love interest and the son of the tech owner who ruined Maggie’s family, was my favorite character in this series. This boy was seriously one of the sweetest, kindest and most loyal boy I’ve ever come across in a book. There was an air of gentleness around him and together with his dedication to be good, there was no doubt that I would be a swooning pile whenever he was on page. He’s the kind of character you want to protect from all evil when you find out just how rough his family life is. I really loved the side characters as well, particularly Gus, a hacker that Maggie befriended. Their dynamic was fun and the platonic banter was one of the best parts of this book! I also really loved how family-focused the book was and I loved that Maggie’s brother and mom were such a big part of the series.
Quentin’s romance with Maggie was rife with complications from the start because Maggie was essentially lying to his face and using him for her own purposes, but oh my goodness. The progression was so beautifully done. Corruption especially had some swoony and romantic scenes that melted me. I shipped them so so hard! Despite the initial lies between Maggie and Quentin, these two turned out to be a refreshingly open couple with each other. Quentin slowly showed Maggie that she was as deserving of love as everyone else and he brought out the absolute best of her personality. What I especially loved about them was how Quentin never overshadowed Maggie from her goal – instead he went along with her by her side and never stopped or undermined her. It was really nice to have this male love interest who had so much faith in his heroine and who gave her the space to reach her goals.
I’ll admit, part of me was nervous that I wouldn’t enjoy these as much as my last few Aussie YA books because they are dystopia/scifi and I thought I was over those, but the author really impressed me with how fresh the story was. In this futuristic world, a tech company called M-Corp has come up with M-bands that are intended to help life run smoother, and these M-bands even give you ratings to show compatible you are with the people you interact with based on pheromones. If you rate negative 3 times, you are labelled a “neg” and sent to rehabilitation camps.
As with most tech companies in books, M-Corp is obviously lying about a lot of things and throughout the series Maggie, Quentin and their friends discover just how much M-Corp is playing God. I know what you may be thinking. That this sounds exactly like every other dystopia, but trust me when I say that Jessica Shirvington kept it very entertaining from start to finish with the twists, the torture and the dangers. These books were action-packed and just pure fun to read – my heart raced in fear as these characters make new discoveries about the extent of the lies M-Corp has fed society and I never knew who to trust because EVERYONE seemed to have a hidden agenda.
I’m really pleased that I gave Disruption and Corruption a try. I loved what Jessica Shirvington did here, especially with the characters and she is definitely an author that I’m going to watch out for because she’s undeniably very talented. If you’re in the mood for a fast-paced and action-packed story with some really great characters and a romance that will have you shipping the OTP, then do yourself a favor and read these books. You will not be disappointed.

I just....I don't even know what to say because this book was just SO GOOD.
Corruption is an intense read and exhilarating conclusion to the duology, delivered with Jessica Shirvington's flair for creating stories that captivate readers from the first page to the very last. The last books that end a series are always going to be epic reads, and I found myself completely immersed in the novel as new secrets were revealed about M-Corp, revolutionary movements began to emerge, and Maggie once again shone as a character who was totally badass yet still had her moral compass as well.
If Disruption convinced me of Jessica Shirvington's stunning talent as a writer, then Corruption completely affirmed it. This book has everything a reader could want - action, intrigue, witty banter and a kick-ass female protagonist who is willing to call the shots.
I absolutely loved Maggie's character and how she further developed throughout the course of the novel. It begins just where the first book left off, and from that very moment it is evident that Maggie is a fighter. She's determined, confident and courageous, willing to make the biggest sacrifices to save those she cares about, including Gus, Quentin and her mum and brother Sam.
When it comes to Quentin and Maggie...
In the midst of a world where Pheratech and ratings come to dominate life through the M-bands, their relationship is genuine - and they are a 'true match'. Despite the many ups-and-downs of their bond and challenges along the way I loved seeing how they developed as a couple. The romance by no means completely dominates this book though, as it leaves plenty of room for the other elements to shine through. The other characters in the book were given equally enough investment, and I especially loved the witty banter between Gus and Maggie, since it gave some lightness and humour to what is otherwise a very emotional read at times. The twists and turns kept coming, loyalties were tested and at the end of the day I am satisfied with how it all ended, even though it was bittersweet.

WOW. Corruption left me glued to the page and I enjoyed every minute of reading it. It took me through a myriad of emotions and if you haven't read this series yet I'd strongly recommend it!

Wow. What a rollercoaster of emotion.
The story picks up right where we left off, which I appreciated since I didn't really want to have to sit through a recap of what had happened in the first book. The pace was set, and it never slowed down. I won't say much about the plot, but let me assure you, it is just as fast-paced and filled with plot twists as the first book Disruption. It gripped me from the beginning and didn’t let me go until THAT DAMN ENDING. (more on that later, don't worry)
What I appreciated the most here, and what I feel the author really excelled at, were the emotional journeys that these characters went through. Their actions, or rather, their experiences had consequences, which a lot of YA novels tend to ignore. I loved seeing Maggie go from broken to somewhat whole again in a gradual and believable amount of time. It didn't feel rushed and it added a lot of depth to her character arc. Her developpment was insane. She went from a rash, impulsive teenager to a young woman prepared to make sacrifices in the name of others. Suffice it to say, I really enjoyed her character arc throughout the duology.
The rest of the cast of characters was amazing as well, and my only complaint would be the lack of relationship between Maggie and her brother. I never really got the sense that they really cared for eachother for any other reason than being related to one another, which I think was a shame. Their relationship, or at least their attempts at a relationship, would have added an extra layer of complexity to the story.
As for the romance, I do have to admit that it did get pretty angsty, much more so than in the first book, which was understandable considering what Quentin and Maggie have gone through. They need to learn how to trust eachother again in order to be together, and I did enjoy their journey.
What I did not like was the fact that the author decided to almostcreate a love triangle between Maggie, Quentin and Gus. I almost had a heart attack when I saw this, because for me, one of the star points of Disruption was the purely platonic relationship between Gus and Maggie. Thankfully, it did not comme to fruition and the idea of a love triangle was left behind. (It should never have come up anyway, but I digress.)
As for the ending...well, let's just say that I need help picking up the pieces of my heart. It was brutal, realistic and bittersweet. Not everyone survives, and even though I didn't like it, I recognize the necessity of those deaths. Like I said before, actions had consequences in this book, however heartbreaking.
To sum it up, this was a solid conclusion to this duology, and I don't regret reading it. Although I think I prefered the first book a bit more, I do think this duology was worth finishing, and I can't wait to read more by this author.

I must say that I was a little disappointed in Corruption. I think because I loved Disruption SO MUCH, I was expecting something just as good, if not better from Corruption. I also might have forgotten the fact that my love for series generally decreases after the first book. This happens with every single series that I can name right now. And sadly, Disruption (the series) was no different.
Nevertheless, I’ll try and wade through my thoughts on Corruption, and really try and figure out why I was not as enamoured with it as I was with its predecessor. I wrote my review for Disruption in dot points of things I loved, and these changed. So I’m going to explain what changed, and why I was disappointed.
Kickass Heroine.
The main thing that might have resulted in my decreased enjoyment of Corruption was Maggie. In my review of Disruption, the first thing I wrote about was the kickass heroine. I was happy that I had finally found a book where the MC doesn’t take shit from anyone and can stand on her own two feet. Maggie lost this in Corruption. She really did. She went from badass to … no ass. She was scared, and weak, and I was really disappointed in her. I get that she went through some tough times, but don’t we all? Isn’t strength the ability to get through the shit and come out on top? I felt let down by the loss of Maggie’s kickass-ness and assertiveness. She became the run of the mill heroine who I really cannot stand.
Gus and Maggie’s Relationship.
Another thing I mentioned was my love for the fact that Maggie and Gus were biffles, and that there was no romantic attraction or anything between them. This changed in Corruption and I was so very disappointed and annoyed by this. Why? Why was it necessary to have them kiss, and to have Gus reveal weird, convoluted feelings for Maggie? It didn’t add to the storyline, and it took away one of my favourite aspects of Disruption. We got a freaking love triangle. Why? Why?
Maggie + Quentin Together.
In the first book, I liked how these two played off each other. There was emotional tension, sexual tension. Pretty much every kind of tension. They didn’t take crap from each other, they weren’t cheesy. They were amazing. But in Corruption, along came the crap. Along came the cheese. I get they love each other, I do. But I can get so tired of declarations of undying love and the readiness to die for one another every few pages. Yes, you’re true matches and yes you love each other very much but come on. Why are you all about the dying? Shouldn’t you want to live for each other?
Plotline + It Sucked Me In.
The plotline was a little all over the place for me, and I was not sucked in at all. I don’t know what happened, but the storyline dragged and I could see everything coming and there were some moments where I wouldn’t have cared if I put the book down and never picked it up again. And that’s really quite sad.

So there you go. I guess the reasons why I didn’t like Corruption as much as Disruption is because most of the things I loved in the first book were changed in the second.

Nevertheless, I’ll try and wade through my thoughts on Corruption, and really try and figure out why I was not as enamoured with it as I was with its predecessor. I wrote my review for Disruption in dot points of things I loved, and these changed. So I’m going to explain what changed, and why I was disappointed.
Kickass Heroine.
The main thing that might have resulted in my decreased enjoyment of Corruption was Maggie. In my review of Disruption, the first thing I wrote about was the kickass heroine. I was happy that I had finally found a book where the MC doesn’t take shit from anyone and can stand on her own two feet. Maggie lost this in Corruption. She really did. She went from badass to … no ass. She was scared, and weak, and I was really disappointed in her. I get that she went through some tough times, but don’t we all? Isn’t strength the ability to get through the shit and come out on top? I felt let down by the loss of Maggie’s kickass-ness and assertiveness. She became the run of the mill heroine who I really cannot stand.
Gus and Maggie’s Relationship.
Another thing I mentioned was my love for the fact that Maggie and Gus were biffles, and that there was no romantic attraction or anything between them. This changed in Corruption and I was so very disappointed and annoyed by this. Why? Why was it necessary to have them kiss, and to have Gus reveal weird, convoluted feelings for Maggie? It didn’t add to the storyline, and it took away one of my favourite aspects of Disruption. We got a freaking love triangle. Why? Why?
Maggie + Quentin Together.
In the first book, I liked how these two played off each other. There was emotional tension, sexual tension. Pretty much every kind of tension. They didn’t take crap from each other, they weren’t cheesy. They were amazing. But in Corruption, along came the crap. Along came the cheese. I get they love each other, I do. But I can get so tired of declarations of undying love and the readiness to die for one another every few pages. Yes, you’re true matches and yes you love each other very much but come on. Why are you all about the dying? Shouldn’t you want to live for each other?
Plotline + It Sucked Me In.
The plotline was a little all over the place for me, and I was not sucked in at all. I don’t know what happened, but the storyline dragged and I could see everything coming and there were some moments where I wouldn’t have cared if I put the book down and never picked it up again. And that’s really quite sad.

So there you go. I guess the reasons why I didn’t like Corruption as much as Disruption is because most of the things I loved in the first book were changed in the second.

The smashing conclusion to the hit sci-fi series where relationships with others are dictated by M-band technology was exhilarating and action-packed.
Corruption picks up exactly where Disruption left off, without a recap of events or people. It all comes back quickly though, with Maggie's kick ass attitude, her smarmy best friend Gus and the betrayed lover Quentin all making a quick comeback. These characters are all so vibrant and even though there were touches of a love triangle, I really enjoyed how they relied on each other, despite having differing opinions and concerns.
I was actually quite surprised with how the start of the book seemed to resolve too quickly, which was a little hard to believe. This just sets the quick pacing of the storyline and the flurry of events we move through though, as Maggie focuses on taking down M-Corp, throwing whatever resources and help comes her way. The technology and the action left no time for a breath, as I was swept through twists, betrayals, surprises and turns.
Maggie is such an awesome character, I love how she's cold, calculated, and willing to sweep anyone under a rug who stands in the way of her goal. She does have a softer side to her though, which is her feelings for Quentin and her deep caring and love for her family and friends. Although some of the lines he delivered veered on the side of cheesy, I thought this couple was really touching and loved seeing Maggie soften in his presence.
Gus delivered some smarmy lines too during the Corruption, and his banter, loyalty and friendship with Maggie, despite what they have undergone in the past was really touching. I really did enjoy the trio, even though there were times where Gus and Quentin would be head to head over Maggie, which kind of strengthened my liking of Quentin's protectiveness.
The stakes were so much higher in Corruption as Maggie now knows exactly who she is dealing with, and allies and enemies will reveal themselves to her at every turn. It turns out Maggie isn't a lone wolf in her mission, and seeing it all unveil in Corruption was a satisfying experience. With a memorable cast of characters, some amazing new technology and a refreshing 'take down the corporation' plot, I really enjoyed this duology.

This duology is bloody fantastic! So much action, excitement, laughs and tears, I can't even. I finished this book at 1am, tears and snot running down my face because JESSICA SHIRVINGTON IS EVIL, but so happy that my friend bought me Disruption otherwise I wouldn't have discovered it. I absolutely loved it.
This one felt a tad slower than the other one but I still enjoyed it because, well, the characters kick arse. If you've not read this series, GO NOW, go buy it. Then come back and talk to me about it because I have a lot of feelings right now.
This series is underrated. And Shirvington knows how to write plot twists, there's so many in this series, oh my lord. This is a lot to process.

İkinci kitabı beğenmeyen çoğunun aksine ben beğendim. Bu kitapta Maggie'nin ne kadar kırılgan olabileceğini gördüğümüz gibi, Quentin'in de ne kadar sağlam durabileceğini okuduk bu hoşuma gitti. Ve anlamsız ayrılıklar yerine sağlam bir birleşme vardı. Maggie'yi çok sevdim. Hatalarını bilen, bencil ama bencil olmaktan kurtulmaya çalışan bir karakter olarak verdiği tüm kararları destekledim. Ve Quinny, sana ne diyeyim be çocuk harikasın. Dediğim gibi en sevdiğim çiftler arasına girdiniz. Sizi seviyorum. Önerimdir.

I laughed, I cried, I had many heart attacks, and even some joyful moments. But most of all it was all bittersweet.
Disruption rocked my world, and I was on a hype after I read it. But I'm so glad to say Corruption out down itself. I salute you Ms Shirvington, you've wrapped up this world in an incredible way, and gave it justice it deserves.
It's quite different for a dystopian novel to be a two book series that the usual trilogy. However it worked. The final books are always about resolving the main plot, Jessica had done that so freaking well. It wasn't a dramatical change or a half-hearted attempt, it was just right. But most of all it made sense how the author planned for the world to function after corrupting the system.
In the previous book I was most fond of Gus and Maggie's dysfunctional friendship. After reading Corruption their relationship will be forever cherished within me. I would never forget a character like Gus. In this dark setting, it was his humour and sarcasm that had me laughing. And that stupid guy brought tears to my eyes.
“Nice work,’ Gus said as I approached.
‘Thanks,’ I said.
‘I particularly like the part where you made yourself out to be innocent and me to be the guilty bastard.’
I flashed him a smile. ‘I liked that part too.’
‘You two have some kind of backwards relationship going on here, you know that, right?’ Travis said.
“You’re my best friend, Gus,’ I said,
‘Only friend.’
‘Love you always,’
'Love you back, Mags. Always have.’
Oh dear. Quinn Merecer. This young man can twist your heart and make it so damn hard to breathe. The chemistry between Maggie and him was undeniable in the first book, but in this one, they just took it way deeper. Despite how their relationship ended with betrayal, they passed that barrier, began to trust each other, and realise they are each other's world. One would not exist without the other. I love how Jessica portrayed the development on their relationship, especially that final straw that became the trick to officially crumble the doubting barrier Quinn and Maggie had. Oh and that kiss they had shortly after that (in public!) was so damn swooning (well to be honest all their moments are freaking hot).
“I love everything about you – your strength, your heart, your stubbornness, the way you hit first and ask questions later, the way you would do anything for the people you love.”
“Because I can’t fucking breathe when you’re not around. And all I want to do is be with you, I want to kiss you, but I don’t think I’ll be able to stop.”
“He is not just my match. He is my heart, my love, my redemption.
He is paradise.”
Corruption had everything, the twist and turns, breath stopping moments, many surprises (and even those that you kinda predict already still comes punching you hard). It had crazy but well described action packed scenes making it easy to imagine exactly what's happening. And together the Disruption series has officially made it to my top rankings. Its sad to see this roller coaster end so quick, it's even heart wrenching to know we lost some dear characters, but I can't be happier to say that this is one series that has been written so amazingly with the right amount of ingredient to make it freaking epic.

An absolutely brilliant conclusion to the story that began in Disruption, Corruption takes us deep into the heart of the sickness that is M-Corp and the technology they use to control and subdue American citizens and the world at large.
Last year Maggie Stevens cemented herself as one of my all-time favourite protagonists, and I'm happy to say my opinion of her has only risen while reading Corruption. I rarely read characters who are so in tune with the truth of who they are: usually protagonists think themselves nicer, more selfless, smarter, or just simply better than they actually are, and readers end up quietly judging them as they play out their role. Maggie is her own harshest critic. She's intimately familiar with every mistake she's ever made, every cowardly or heartless decision she's ever undertaken, every lie she's told, every promise she's broken. Maggie is under no illusions that she's a nice person. What makes her amazing is that she doesn't let any of those things bring her down, and having made those mistakes, she's now going to do everything she can to set things right. Not so she can have her happily every after as a hero, but so she can do some measure of good to counter all the hurt.
Quentin Mercer, the M-Corp heir, is one of her greatest regrets. The growth and strength his character displays throughout this novel is nothing short of amazing, and I love him for it. Quin has been ripped away from everything he found comforting and familiar, but he's come out fighting regardless. And if it hurts to look at Maggie and remember the lies she's told him, then it doesn't stop him from doing the right thing anyway.
We can't mention Maggie and Quin and forget their amazing hacker friend Gus, who has the best and most heart-wrenching story-line of all in this book, and who has set a new bar of excellence for all secondary characters in YA.
Shirvington's world-building is great, and as usual, one of my favourite things is that the world of the Disruption novels doesn't just stop at America. The applications, and consequences, of the M-Corp technology are explored on a national and international scale, and the results are horrifying. The world doesn't turn a blind eye to this conglomerate and its doings, and one of the best surprises came at the end of the novel when international concerns were addressed.
Like its predecessor, Corruption is an action packed ride that will keep you guessing and turning the pages well into the night. It's plotted very well and is full of unpredictable plot-twists that I loved. And the last stand against M-Corp was amazing.
Although I'm sad that the series has ended, I think Corruption is a great sequel that surpasses its predecessor in every way. Jessica Shirvington is proving to be an author of many talents, and I cannot wait to see what dishes up next.
