THIS SERIES IS PROBABLY MY FAVOURITE CONTEMPORARY RH!!!
5/5 stars

I feel so lucky to have read this ARC. I have loved reading anything Ashley put’s out, especially the Maura Quinn series!

‘Save Me’ was soooo good!! It’s hard to express my love for this book without spoiling anything. Reading and witnessing Shiloh deal with her grief and trauma was absolutely heartbreaking.

The reaction to the new hair colour had me dying of laughter!! Can't wait to see if she will change it again in the next book.

The progression of Shiloh and the Stone boys' relationship was amazing to see. As grumpy as Knox is, he is my favourite. I wish we could see more of a certain guest that was present at Keelan's birthday party.

THAT LAST CHAPTER THOUGH!! UH, I'M GOING TO BE READING BOTH BOOKS WHILE I WAIT FOR THE THIRD. I WAS COMPLETELY BLINDSIDED!!

The WITSEC series has got to be my favourite read of 2021! Highly recommend everyone read this book!!!!

ACTUAL RATING 3.5 stars

I loved the 1st book which easily got my 5 stars. So going into this my expectations were high! It kick starts us off right where we all fell victim to that cliffy the author threw us over, but that’s not the last of it, because prepare yourselves to fall down another one. This time it involves Knox.

What I love about this is the dark stalker/killer aspect of the storyline. Those times when we’re thrown into our heroine’s traumatic past is where my dark little soul rejoiced.

This one kind of went off kilter and added extra drama which didn’t need to be added, it took the focus off the back bones of the story, being Mr X

And Shi, our victim, survivor came across weak in this book, always not dealing with a situation firsthand and walking away, it just screamed immaturity, it gave me whiplash. But angst lovers will love that, but more than a handful of times it became repetitive making it extremely hard to connect with her. I understood her plight and I could see where the author was going but her backbone and strength didn’t really shine in this book.

I loved the dynamics of these Stone boys, always the protectors, loving her faults and all.

But all in all I’m still invested in this series and want to see how the author wraps it up.

Books 1 and 2 are a half-baked plot about a beautifully tortured virginal definitely-not-cussing novelty-pajama (but SEXY) wearing 18 year old girl everyone is jealous of or wants to stalk, rape, and/or murder. Things go from bad to worse to worser and people betray her and *yawn* I am more shocked by the following:

1) Sheer lack of foam rolling and stretching after her daily 3 hr runs (the runner in me can’t get over this no matter how hard I try)

2) After 2 books I still can’t tell any of the guy characters apart. They are all one mental “blob” of blond-haired abs named “chad” in my mind.

3) Where can I get a copy of the reference book for RH male character names? Cade, Knox, Creed…BINGO!

The same things that I didn't like in the first book just got worse in this one. I have to say I had high hopes for this book, but it disappointed me a lot. So much unnecessary DRAMA!

I still think the author knows how to keep us wanting to know more though. I don't know if is all the struggles the h faces, if it is the hero complex happening with all of them or just how fast pace the story is. I know I finished the book in a few hours and even though I didn't like this one, I'm curious to know how the story will end.

⚜𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 𝐈⚜ I got to say 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏 was a very busy year book wise. It felt like i spent half the year reading and the other waiting for either book 𝐈𝐈, 𝐈𝐈𝐈 or 𝐈𝐕 of a series. But i didn't mind that at all, quite the opposite actually i love it, the wait, the angst and thrill of counting each day until 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘. But there were 𝟓 books in particular that were beyond torturous. “Save Me” being one of them.
And that's why I am overjoyed right now, i mean as a reader is there any better way to end the year? No. The answer is 𝐍𝐎! There isn’t. So before i Finally go lock myself away with this book, i have to say 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔 to Ashley N. Rostek for giving me the best gift ever.

I don't know what it is about this series but I just love it so much. I think part of it might be that its just about relatively normal people. They aren't a drug cartel or a gang/MC/mafia or criminals. Don't get me wrong I loooooove those themes, but switching it up sometimes is insanely refreshing to me. Also the witness protection themes are great, I have not seen them before personally, but now that I have, I want more!

This book picks up right where the last book left off, when Shiloh gets attacked. This book definitely focuses more on Shi's mental health and the guilt she feels about what happened to her family. As well as the boys trying to help her in anyway they can to move on and heal.

The boys. Damn, they are probably my favorite part of the book. They support Shi, cater to her, care for her, notice every little thing about her and what she likes and what they think she needs, even when they are wrong. This is very much a character driven series. Like the plot is there for sure, but the connection of the characters just takes the cake for me.

And the spiiice! Whoooo-eeeee! Ash upped her game and I love it! Keep it up Ashley! The fact that I loved the first book sooo much when there was barely any spice, is a huge testament to the author. But she killed it with this one and I hope it just gets better and better!

If you have not read this series yet, what in the world are you waiting for!?!!?

2.5-3

I liked the first book but in this one i didnt see that much of the guys involvement in Shi’s life when she is actually in trouble. I mean, i didnt feel like they cared about MR X shit that deeply when they should cuz he is still a danger to Shi. Like her past and stuff, their reaction was like “okaaayyy” kinda way. I hope in the third book they are more involved with the Mr X thing. Shi is also getting kinda annoying tho but i get it, but also she is getting annoying. Ya know what I mean?

RATING: 3.5

There's no way I can have a normal life until I've finished this series.
It's so addictive I just need to know what happens next!
To all the people who read it before the 3rd book was out, how did you manage?? I would've been so pissed.
It was definitely a downgrade from book 1, and that's why I now can form a slightly more cohesive review. Don't get me wrong I still love the book and the story, but there are quite a few things I didn't like and we'll get to it in a bit.
There is a lot more spice. I think it was written so well, I didn't find it cringey or awkward, it was on point.

The boys are so cute. I read a lot of bully romance and it's nice to have none of that once in a while. There's no manipulation or belittling or a want for revenge, it's just fun and domestic.
My biggest problem was with the FMC. Friends told me to be cautious of her because she would be annoying, but I didn't see it in book 1. Sure she reacted childishly sometimes, but she's 18 and deeply traumatized. I thought considering her position, she was pretty badass.
Now I see what they meant. I can't say much without spoiling, but she rose up so much drama out of the blue. The whole plot with her uncle had me reeling. I just think there are so many other places the plot could've gone, so many other plot points that could've been explored, we didn't need that one at all.
She's much more of a bratty little kid in this one and I didn't like it.

I also get that she has a lot of trauma she needs to work through, but I found her nightmare scenes to be a but too repetitive. I get why they're there, but instead of feeling disturbed they just started to bore me a little.
Anyway, I still liked the book and I still love the series and I'll read the rest of it right now and hope it doesn't disappoint.
Please, don't let it disappoint.

*SOME SPOILERY RANDOM THOUGHTS*

- I loved her drama with Knox and the way he was trying to keep himself out of the messy relationship, I just wish there would've been a lot more angst before he finally gave in (yeah, I'm an angsty girl, sorry).
- Why did Shi fight her uncle so much?? I really didn't get that plot line. I understand she might be mad at him, but the way it all happened just felt off. Him drugging her to take her away, what was up with that? I understand it, but I also don't. I don't think that needed to be a plot point.
- I can suspend my disbelief enough to imagine that there are several creepy dudes that harass the same girl. I mean I'm a girl, I know how scary it is to walk out the gym or go out for a run at night. So, when Jason came into the picture and tried to rape her in the street, I thought, fine, I'll buy that.
Cassy and her friends bullying her so heavily because why, they're jealous she's getting with the twins? That was pushing it a little but I still thought yeah, some teenagers are dicks sometimes. I was still sort of on board.
But Cassy's sheriff father threatening her on camera, hitting her, having her followed even after he knew she has a Marshall in her corner... That was too much. I just can't believe a sheriff would be stupid enough to do all that, I just don't buy it I'm sorry. Police corruption? Suuuuuure but not like this, it was just so weird and stupid.
We need more drama that has nothing to do with Mr.X, I get it. but couldn't that drama have been with her trying to figure out her relationship with Knox? Or her fights with the boys? Or maybe something wholesome with her uncle? That would've been much more interesting and believable. I really wanted to see her relationship with her uncle, but not the way we got it.

I found the first book meh, the second is making drop the series.

We RH readers seem to love trauma and the tough-but-damsel-in-distress trope enough to keep reading the same story over and over again, but Shiloh is so afflicted by her Mary Sue Syndrome literally every single character is out for her.

But it only works for Sang.

1. The story is kinda exciting but bland most of the time.
2. The love interests are interchangeable.
3. The heroine is annoying.
4. The supporting characters are either useless or irritating because they exist solely to make Shiloh shine brighter.
5. And the ones that aren't are doomed to lose some IQ along the way.

Second review:
I think this was a bit disappointing. It’s quite a downgrade from my last read. I just feel like the MC is forcing the badass character and it got really annoying at times. That ending was still nice and unexpected, but it didn’t have as much hold on me as my first read did.

First review:
NOOOOOOOOO WHYYYYYY, THE ENDING, NO WHY TORTURE ME LIKE THIS 😭. I’ll need to wait for so long before the next boooook. At least this time book two was coming out a month after I finished book 1, but book three is going to take yearssss. Ughhhh whyyyyy. This is killing me omg the ending. I can’t. 😭😭😭😭

This book was everything I wanted in a dark romance:
- healing MC
- badass MC too (the girl ofc)
- polygamous relationships/reverse harem
- lots and lots of steamy hot scenes
- crazy sweet dark protective damaged guys
- therapy positivity
- crazy suspense
- amazing annoyingly awesome ending
- in dear need for the next book

And thank you Ashley N Rostek for this ARC, it was an absolute pleasure to read your work. (Binged this in barely a few hours)

2nd reread - changing from 4 to 3 stars

My original review still stands but the things that bothered me before, bothered me more this time.

I’m noticing this time that while Knox is the most developed one, Keelan doesn’t feel fully developed. Colt and Creed are kinda yes, kinda not as fleshed out.

I don’t understand how she goes from virgin to having sex with 3 of them separately in like 24 hours. No pain??? It still feels like there’s less actual romance and care after she starts having sex, because everything revolves around sex after. Making a bet? Sex. Waking up? Sex. Like ok, guess she doesn’t need anything else from them now.

Shiloh is dealing with a lot of her trauma in this, i can’t say i like her but i understand her.

This author still feels like she kind of lost the plot with the addition of the mean girls and sheriff, Jacob, and all this other shit. It’s annoying. You had a GREAT villain, and you’re just not even focusing on him to focus on these petty villains who don’t like this girl bc of…. Jealousy over the guys? Like ok. Shiloh is just that good huh? She’s just SO special that all this bad stuff happens to her. I can see why the twins like her, but truly don’t understand why Keelan and Knox do.

____________

ORIGINAL REVIEW DEC 2021:

I was so looking forward to this and it did not disappoint! I really enjoyed this book.

It picks up right at the end of book 1, and I loved how that wasn’t dragged out. In this book, we definitely get more of Shiloh’s trauma and grief, with her having nightmares of what’s happened to her. I think the author did a great job at representing how someone would react to that.

Shiloh is a bit hot and cold with the guys at times due to that, but i found it realistic. There were a few times I would’ve preferred for her to just talk to them though.

I liked how the relationships played out, though i did think there’d be a bit more tension with the guys coming to terms with a harem. I wouldn’t say there was none though, i just expected there to be more. I do like all the guys, but I think Knox is the most developed one.

There’s not as much day to day life in this one as there was in book 1, which I have to admit I missed. It felt like there was constantly something happening and Shiloh wasn’t really in school. Which is a plus I guess, because the mean girls aren’t really in this as much.

I was hoping there’d be a little more happening on the Mr. X front but he’s not mentioned much in the present besides once in the beginning. I would’ve preferred a little more on this front rather than Jacob drama tbh. I felt like that was a bit much to an already exciting villain to contend with.

Shiloh loses her virginity in this book, and the steamy scenes were good. I do feel like there’s not as much non sexual connections after she discovers sex, but that’s a me thing, I think.

While I could understand why what happened at the ending happened, I can’t say I really care for it. I am interested to see how this will be tied up in book 3 and can’t wait to see what happens next!

and to think i was actually somewhat excited for this book. one and a half stars, rounded down.

look, Find Me was exciting. broken, tortured beautiful eighteen year old that lives in her own house, by herself while her uncle goes off and chases her family's killer? has four hot neighbors? runs wayyy too much, has a bunch of vices, yet is someone who deserves the world? sign me up. (but hopefully next time with a bit more stretching and foam rolling after a three hour run, because ouch😬)

where was all of that in this novel? the entire plot is literally just:

1. Shiloh mad.
2. Shiloh gets hurt.
3. Love interests go hulk smash.
4. Shiloh has sexy times.
5. Shiloh sleep.
6. Rinse, recycle, and repeat.

i appreciate the time being taken to develop Shiloh's character. i like the fact that Rostek took the time to show some of the "growing pains" of their five-way relationship - it was a unique take on the contemporary RH genre that i haven't really seen yet before - but the deep trenches of Mary Sue that I had to wade out of in this novel dragged all of that down. i couldn't connect and really develop a deeper relationship with the book because every four seconds, Shiloh's either screaming at someone for being a douchebag, (in all honesty, rightfully so,) or getting physically assaulted, both accidentally and intentionally.

oh, and the sex was weird. i get that shiloh is inexperienced and Rostek was trying to recreate those awkward little first-time moments between each couple but it felt more like the guys were trying to restore her innocence with their dicks and Shiloh was letting them do so so they could take it back for themselves because that's the proper way to deal with extensive childhood trauma.

needless to say, was not a fan of this novel. am i going to torture myself with the third book? hell yes. who do you take me for?

4⭐️ (being extra picky it’s more like a 3.9 but that’s a bit ridiculous isn’t it but those who get it will get it 🤣)

It’s a shame these books aren’t written in dual POV I think it would really bring so much more to the stories being in the boys heads as well

This was a bit slower than the first book, I don’t really feel like much happened, but that being said I’m still very much enjoying the series & did finish this book in 1 day 😅 I can see that this will have that feeling where it probably could’ve just been a trilogy based on the fact that basically nothing went on in this book apart from Shiloh gains an extra enemy & she’s now slept with each of the brothers 😂

One of the things putting me off is how much the boys baby Shiloh sometimes it makes the whole dynamic a bit weird, and the spice is actually pretty bland BUT I like the characters & the storyline and the setting of it!

uhhh... not as good as the first book, but I think I'll still continue the series.

This one picks up immediately where the first book left off with Shiloh .
In this book we get some progression of relationships between Shiloh and her guys and her dealing with her demons and new enemies.
Can I just say, Shiloh seems to pick up nemeses quite easily and at every turn. At this point she has 2 stalkers, an angry sheriff, and 3 bullies at school. Maybe she needs to reevaluate her interactions with people to find a way to maybe, I don't know, lessen the amount of people who want to attack her?

Anyhoo...
I will say that I found her to be a smidge annoying...

okay.. maybe a lot annoying.
She self destructs and they try to help her and then she kind of turns into a toddler throwing a tantrum.
I kept wondering what these guys saw in her to make them willing to put up with all of her drama. Cause lets be frank, Shiloh comes with a shit-ton of dramas.

However, finally, like a switch was flipped, she changes her tune and gets help and all is fixed-ish (emphasis on ish).

But I think what really bothered me about Shiloh in this book is towards the end the way she treated her uncle. He is literally her only family left, someone she's known her entire life and has her back implicitly. Yet, she is quick to turn on him because she's fallen in lurves with a bunch of hunky brothers? Eh.. didn't like it. And of course, their relationship devolves from there and tbh, I don't really blame her uncle for his actions.

I mean, I get it young love..

But, she's barely known them, what a few months, and she's ready to turn her back on someone she's known and been close to her entire life? not. buying. it.

Anyways.
All that aside, I will continue the series because I am invested and I am curious to see what happens. The story is interesting, even if the h kinda makes me wanna poke her eyeballs out (not mine, I need them to keep reading). Looking forward to book 3, and hopefully, it will be less annoying than book 2.

Why did I do this to myself? I thought the third book I preordered was due end of this month, but it's been moved to the end of next month and it's a cliffhanger ... so now I've got these cliffhanger feels twice now! Self-inflicted, of course. There's just something about all the angst and the boys personalities that has me hooked on this series.

I had so many expectations for my last read of the year! but I didn't like this :(

Save Me did not go where I thought it would and not in a good way. There was too much of every character having to have the same discussions over and over again because they would say one thing and do another which would lead to a fight and pretty much nothing was ever solved. I felt like the story was moving nowhere. I also despised what Logan tried to do.

I won't be continuing the series.

Poor girl can't catch a break. Everyone around her is a psycho hell bent on hurting her.

Everyone except her four "normal" boyfriends lol Which doesn't really make that much sense to me? I feel like she'd do better with four psychos who adored her, to protect her from the psychos wanting to hurt her lol Instead she got four vanilla dudes.

I mean, even her uncle is a psychotic asshole??? The Sheriff?? The random dude at the gym???

You in danger girl GIF represents her whole life.

3 stars- book 1 was way better! book 2 started off strong, but it got a bit repetitive and boring after a while. I still had a good time, but just started to not care as much by the end...

Also I'm still in a Releasing 10 book slump so that's prob why. The FMC's PTSD and trauma reminded me too much of Lizzie lol. Made me miss Boys of Tommen/distracted me from this story.

BLEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Just what was this book? Honestly.... It just got more ridiculous as time went on. The ending was getting good but when they started to vilify the uncle Logan I was like.. "yeahhh wrap this shit up... this is dookie." Cuz girl wtf is you on?

Ok. Since this book isn't good I'm gonna keep my review somewhat short (hopefully) by making a list.

1. Shiloh. She's annoying af... like I get why she is and lowkey has a valid crash out but HOMEGIRL COULD FIX A MAJORITY OF HER DAMN ISSUES IF SHE WASN'T 1. A PICK ME & 2. WENT TO FUCKING THERAPY. Thankfully she did and gawd she got more likeable then until her uncle showed up... Abandonment issues anyone? It's like she didn't even try to understand her Uncle's concerns...

(lowkey sidenote: Logan is batshit for the thing he pulled but lowkey... i respect it cuz it's like he's the only one who understands how important Shiloh's safety is with a SERIAL KILLER/STALKER ON THE LOOSE)

2. Keelan, Colt, Creed. Bro where was the personality in this book? They were basically all the same person in this book... It got so bad that I didn't know which twin was which and who were the twins.. Like it felt like Knox was the only one who had a major personality difference.... Also they're all in a relationship but nothing gets talked about in this book... You'd think being in a poly relationship, WITH BROTHERS NO LESS, there would need to be boundaries in place when it came to things like sex, the almost borderline incest issues with being in a relationship with one girl, and the physical and emotional needs being met between all 4 people within the relationship.... but nahhh the author was like "we don't do that beta shit here" and then just gets right into the smut... like excuse me...? No aftercare pillow talks? Am I just a flimsy reader to you?

3. Knox... homeboy is the only logical one rn... he ends up giving in to his desires once or twice but I loved how he prioritized Shiloh's mental wellbeing and family over his own desires... as a fellow older sibling ughhhh that sacrificing felt right at home. It's nice to see him get love towards the end of the book after it seems like she's really getting her shit together.

I'm not gonna talk on the plot because ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm just as confused as you. It's going somewhere... for sure.... to where? idfk.

Nevertheless it's still interesting enough for me to wanna read book 3 sooooo.... Ig the suffering continues.... I'll see you in book 3's review soldiers.

Save Me is an amazing sequel to Find Me. This book was captivating, I could not put it down and read it in one sitting. Similar to Find Me, it’s easy to follow and draws you in from page one.

What I love about this series is Shiloh is actively healing and it’s not always pretty but it’s real. She is trying her best but it can be hard sometimes. I love the guys being there for her no matter what and knowing that this is a hard process but they’re there for her.

I adore this relationship and watching their dynamic unfold. They all care about her so much and it’s incredible to see. The spice level was kicked up a notch which I enjoyed. I really love this group and could read many books following them. The ending was a little disrespectful but I’m curious and excited for the next book. I highly recommend this series.

I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Reread: Shiloh's immaturity seriously got on my nerves.

First read: I didn’t like it as much as the 1st book, but it was okay. We got to know a lot more about Shi’s traumatic past and the serial killer Mr. X. There were several moments in this book that triggered Shi’s PTSD, and after each one, the strong MC we got to know in the first book slowly dissipated. She seemed weak in this book, not dealing with trauma and walking away, and a tad immature. This would not be the problem, and it's probably the most common reaction for survivors and victims of such brutal crimes, it's just that it was so different from the MC we got to know in the first book.
Her uncle turning into somewhat of a villain (not literally) was of character as well.
The story itself progressed nicely. As always, I failed to check how many books were in a series, so I had an unpleasant surprise when I found out I'd have to wait for the sequel.

At this point it seems like the author doesn’t know where to go with the story. It was all over the place, adding new conflicts but never fully committing to any points. Every single character outside the FMC and the MMCs were so one dimensional still it was getting harder to read. Even new characters brought in were the same. There was nothing to who they were as a person, and they only did things that would move the story the way the author wants without any reasoning or believability behind it. Every single guy in this story has only one brain cell and it is to hurt the FMC without caring for the consequences. It was getting a bit ridiculous.

There was some growth from the Shiloh in this one which I love to see but it wasn’t enough to keep me engaged. Her relationship with her guys was boring and they are all starting to blend together. For a whole chapter I thought Colt was Creed and I didn’t even notice until the real Creed came into the scene. I also don’t think me, as a reader got enough of her relationship with Logan to fully sympathize with their conflict. Basically every character and every relationship was underdeveloped in my opinion.

I’ve read why chooses with brothers before and it never seemed to bother me, but in this story they were too involved when they were sharing Shiloh that I personally felt a bit weird about. None of the spicy scenes worked for me and it was very apparent with there was more than two. I like spice as much as the next romance reader but I would rather no spice than spice that is in there without any emotional connection or if it doesn’t help the story in any way. In this story, they felt so disconnected to each other which lead it to feel cold to me.

There are three things that can keep me interested in a story, the plot, the relationships, and the spice. So when a book is a miss in all three categories, I think it’s clearly time for me to move on.

Holy crap, what a book!!

Save Me picks up right where Find Me left off. If you read it, you know what was happening. Shiloh is dealing with that, missing her uncle and being upset for the reason he left, and fearing Mr X finding her. She is having a hard time dealing with it all, which is completely understandable.

The guys, Keelan, Knox, Creed and Colt are amazing to her. They are what keep her calm and grounded when she needs it. They might drive her crazy sometimes but they only want whats best for her. The feelings between them all keep growing and they have such beautiful relationships. The flashbacks of what Shiloh went through with Mr X are heartbreaking. I just wanted to reach through my Kindle and give her a hug.

All the feelings will be felt with this one. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, you will feel it all. This book is so beautifully written too, even with the heavy topics, Ashely did such an amazing job! And that cliffhanger?!?!?! I CAN NOT wait for book 3!!!

The first book in this series really hooked me, but this one seemed too much of a bridge book where not a whole lot really happened. The heroine definitely developed her relationships with the heroes, but that's pretty much it. We have a lot of side characters who either hate her or want her, so she's thrown into bad situations that felt a bit too much at times. How many people can be obsessed with the same person in one book?? I would have loved a little bit more threat looming from Mr. X and more of an overarching plot development, but that didn't really happen in this one! I do love the guys, so that saved this book for me!

4.5 *

These boys have my heart! Gosh I love how they are protective and loving and care for Shiloh!

Ugh mean girls/boy strike again and this time the backing of it all and the lack of consequence had me fuming! Ugh

I don’t think a book has given me this much anxiety about what the next chapters or even pages will be about like this book! I’m super interested where the next two books are going to go with the story line!

Obsessed and can’t wait to read the next one!

3.5/ 5 ⭐️ - Basically, it’s the same old plot as book one, but with more smut. Oh, and Shi is constantly being attacked by different groups of people for one of two reasons: 1. They’re jealous of her beauty, or 2. They want to SA her. And then the cycle just repeats! I have a feeling the next books in the series will follow the same pattern, so I won’t be continuing anytime soon.
