I'm loving this so far and I can't wait to see where Sei and Aresh are heading. I'm a bit wary of the Chancellor, I'm not sure if he is friend or foe... and this ending! I need the next one soon!
Also, the translation is awesome, it makes the story really come forward, it balances the humour and serious tones pretty well.

Cute, but that cliffhanger ending is super annoying. More slow burn with the couple and if he had gotten someone else’s magic, wouldn’t THEY have to acclimate him and not the handsome guy who is looking for an excuse to kiss him? Just sayin’.

Kondou and Aresh come to terms with their encounter at the end of the previous volume by... moving on with their lives. It's kind of cool that neither of them spends huge amounts of time worrying about it--or their subsequent also-vaguely-not-consensual kisses. You gotta do what you gotta do...
Aresh is spending a lot of time around Kondou, making sure he eats the right foods and doesn't go anywhere near the nutritional potions that caused his attack in the first place. He's a captain of the magical guards, isn't he? Well, he does spend a few panels in his office in this volume. Despite his stoic exterior, he seems to be falling for the older "workstock"* under his care.
* a mix of "worker" and "livestock," apparently? that's a bit of slang that doesn't hold back.
Speaking of "workstock," Kondou's depiction is the most interesting thing about this manga for me. Aresh all but has to physically restrain him from working himself to death, and on at least two occasions in this volume alone, Kondou tells Aresh that his entire conception of self-worth lies in his ability to work. The people of the land he was transported to are very laid-back about labor, perhaps because magic makes their lives so much easier, so Kondou is suffering from some culture shock along with all the other things that are happening to him.
On the whole, though, this one doesn't quite work for me. I'm not a big fan of the art, or the central relationship. Individual scenes are repetitive and not all that memorable. It leans hard and unquestioningly into dub/non-con tropes I don't like much, and the other tropes it relies on are presented in a straight-faced way where I'd rather see them approached with, perhaps, a more jaded or humorous eye. I don't think I'll continue with this, but can easily imagine its isekai-bureaucracy-M/M romance appealing to others.
Addendum: for readers who might be interested in a M/M romance with a moderate dose of bureaucracy (I mean, who wouldn't be?), I recommend Division Bells.

now i'm seeing some progress in their relationship on this volume, or at least on kondou's part, he's starting to see aresh in a better light, while aresh seems to be developing a crush on him LMAO

This volume was pretty much entirely about the knight captain making a fool of himself, trying to protect the court accountant. So much fluff and hilarious situations! For what romance volume 1 was lacking, volume 2 makes up for in spades.

I love this series.
The only problem is that it's going to be agony waiting for updates, especially at its current pretty slow pace. Kondou remains completely oblivious to Aresh's interest in him - and even casually announces to everyone that he has no romantic interest in those younger than him. (Of course, to Aresh's utter dismay, it turns out that they have an 8 year age gap.)
While they kiss a few times in this volume, Kondou continues to see it as an odd medical necessity in this world; whenever he gets "infected" by magic, like healing spells, he needs an infusion of Aresh's energy to restore him. Naturally, the most effective method is through an exchange of bodily fluids. Thus: completely necessary and totally platonic kissing.
Except it's very clear that Aresh is falling in love with this infuriating workaholic, who seems determined to destroy his body to do what Aresh sees as totally pointless work.
What I love is how much they're already starting to balance each other. Aresh is initially pretty overbearing in his attempts to take care of Kondou's health: he drags him to lunch and dinner, makes sure he's eating food that will slowly build up his magical tolerance without making him sick, and forces him to take breaks and leave work on time. This makes Kondou absolutely furious because he feels like he's constantly falling behind at work, in the tasks he's assigned to himself.
There are some really interesting conversations in here about personal value (do you matter if you're not contributing something to society?), as well as the concept of a work-life balance and the corporate toil-til-you-drop culture that's prevalent in Japanese society.
Aresh rightfully points out that when your boss (since Kondou got a major promotion) works longer and harder hours, eventually his subordinates will start to feel pressured to do the same - which leads to everyone working themselves into the ground like Kondou's doing.
But Aresh isn't the only one doing the lecturing. Despite the gap in their social status and the responsibility he feels to repay Aresh for saving his life, Kondou bites back. Do you ever do any work?? he asks the captain of the guard, who...quite frankly...doesn't really.
It takes a couple chapters for this exchange to really sink in and to start making a difference in Aresh's daily life. He may be forcing Kondou to change his self-destructive lifestyle, against his will, but he's also listening when Kondou tells him what he should change.
And Aresh, to his subordinate's shock and dismay, begins to actually do some paperwork. To actually pay attention to finances and budgets and what's happening around him. And to start trying to figure out how to convince someone older than you that your age gap (22 and 30) isn't too large to prevent dating...
We end on another big cliffhanger, with the plotty political bits coming back into play, so I seriously can't wait for the next volume. I'm so excited to have found this series.
The art, too, continues to be wonderful: Kondou's expressions in particular are fantastic and hilarious. I also love how snarky and devious he is - the fake stories he tells people about Japan just to get them off his back so he can do more work...he's so great. It's not surprising Aresh is already head over heels for him.
I wonder how long it's going to take before Kondou begins to take a similar interest in the guy who's taking him out to romantic dinners every night, then walking him home after, and sometimes kissing him...just for his health, of course. No big deal. They might even have to have sex again soon, for medicinal reasons.
What an excellent second volume this was.

Also dieser Band hat noch mehr Spaß gemacht als der erste. Ich liebe es, wie Aleshs Charakter hier mehr und mehr zum Vorschein kommt und er gefühlt sich selber auch erst kennenlernen muss. Herrlich anzuschauen, ich freue mich auf mehr!

Okay so I do like Aresh, as it turns out. Seichiro REALLY needed someone aggressive like him to look over his health.
But not gonna lie, If I was him, I'd be a workoholic too. Purely out of interest.

The second volume of this series really started to pick up. In the first volume we are introduced to Kondou, a Japanese workaholic who accidentally gets transported to a parallel world. The kingdom offers to compensate him for the trouble, but he insists on working, so he becomes a royal accountant. Through a series of events Kondou becomes very ill and is rescued by the knight captain, Aresh. Fast forward to this volume in which Aresh has become a massive mother hen who is constantly watching out for Kondou. It’s adorable. We get to watch these two grow closer throughout the volume. Unfortunately, Aresh can’t protect Kondou from everything.

I liked this one better than the first, because we're actually seeing a bit of progression in the romance. Things actually started happening plot-wise, and it even had the beloved "who did this to you?" trope.

Esta serie me ha activado el modo fan hasta niveles insospechados y literalmente me paso cada página dando grititos al borde de la conmoción emocional. Probablemente no sea objetiva en la crítica, pero al fin y al cabo también se trata de gustos y de vibrar con la ficción.
En este caso, lo que me tiene dando palmas con las orejas, además del mundo de fantasía donde esta metidos, son los dos obtusos que hay por protagonistas: uno que es adicto al trabajo porque no quiere plantearse que su vida vale algo más y otro que es todo un señor militar estoico que no sabe porque está perdiendo la cabeza por un japonés oficinista y tiene reacciones hilarantes en su presencia. Es que lo adoro y me hace muchisima gracia.

But honestly, Aresh being so concerned with Seiichiro's health is so cute.
This volume really spent a lot of time developing the connection that is growing between Aresh and Seiichiro, letting them spend time and form a bond with each other - as well as even letting them both grow a little.
(Light spoiler time incoming.)
Also the look on Aresh's face when he (22m) heard Seiichiro's (30m) throwaway comment that he's not romantically interested in people younger than him??
I'm not over it.

VALORACIÓN: 5 estrellas
Estoy disfrutando mil esta obra de fantasía. La Santa es un poco petarda, pero en fin, se lo perdonamos porque es adolescente. Y el primo de Aresh ha entrado en mi top de favoritos xD
El cliffhanger del final es criminal. No recomiendo leer este segundo tomo sin tener el tercero a mano para continuar inmediatamente.

High 4 stars. Banana pants and soap opera drama are emerging (as well as tried and true elements from people who've traveled that aren't the original savior to another world). Maybe it's just me, but I get a bit turned off when the only female character, even in BL, is a dumb itch with a B. Why can't there be more role reversals, like the prime minister is a lady or the main doctor? Alas, there are many reasons why I feel this genre is not for me in general (like lots of shounen), but this is intriguing so far (I dropped half a star for the lack of female characters when the doctor showed up and I swore it was going to be a woman based on the design followed by how irritating the girl actually is...is this BL or GH (girl hate)?, which I wonder is partially a product of the toxicity within the culture of celebrities in Japan and Korea (girlfriends or girls getting too close to pop stars are stupid, slut shamed, and trashed)).
Anyway, sorry for the tangent, but overall, I enjoyed this enough to speed read through and want more. I like the story enough outside of the girl character being both considered a child and a dumb, entitled entity (only man titties welcomed here) to still want more. I am hoping for more descriptions of the government money system, magic, and workaholic status/growth.

I was so worried when people were saying this had a nonconsensual kiss. Was he asleep? Was it aggressive? Would it lead to worse stuff? And then… it was him, after having considered just using Aresh for sex so he could overdose more to overwork himself (he doesn’t because he’s like that’s weird and would need consent), getting lightly kissed after he went to get different drugs that could also kill him to soothe a migraine. He literally was about to potentially kill himself over a migraine and so Aresh just heals the migraine with magic which they both know needs “treatment,” but instead of full-on sex, they just kiss briefly. It’s pretty clinically and kindly done.
I think the food control is a bigger issue and controlling his schedule, but… he’ll literally die otherwise. It’s like he’s in treatment for his mental health, which he kinda is. This is a guy willing to die to work. Aresh does seem to see there’s some issues with it, so he takes Kondou to another restaurant where he can actually eat the food and it’s food he actually likes for once. Even when Aresh realizes he may like this guy, he doesn’t force his feelings on him. He only kisses him when necessary. He doesn’t even bring up sex until describing the procedure to place a specific spell that would need it. Overall, I think I just need to keep an eye on the overall portrayal, but I’m pleasantly surprised so far.
It also continues to be a really great critique of workaholic work culture, while also encouraging people to consider their work seriously. Aresh supports breaks, delegation, and a healthy work-life balance, while Kondou points out how little attention Aresh pays his main job and how he lacks knowledge on basic information like the financial state of the nation. This story is so freaking cute.
Aresh is so devoted and doting towards Kondou, and he’s already falling hard. I didn’t realize how big the age gap between them was, but I can tell that it’s definitely going to be a big factor for a while.
I have a good feeling that Kondou is gonna be having a lot of self doubt about that and the Holy Maiden when it comes to his relationship with Aresh in the future.

I liked this one a lot more than the first we get some conflicts with mysteries of outside folks. Their friendship is growing and hint at romance too. It’s cute and nice. I want to kiss my friends that look like that too for health reasons. The ending… interesting! I’m shocked and happy I have the next volume from the library.
