Genuinely thought I would continue reading with the light novel after the last chapter of the manhwa, but the story turned out to be just okay. Unfortunately.
OMG, this novel was almost a masterpiece because, sure, some things could've played out differently, but the way that they were connected from before is what surprised me the most. That he was the little boy who used to play viola for her, and every single detail was like a missing piece for the whole puzzle. I loved their dynamic from the start, particularly the murderer and the victim, and his character with amnesia was so perfect. I also loved how, towards the end, they forgave each other, gave each other second chances, and worked on themselves until the end. THIS BETTER BECOME A KDRAMA.
I really wanted to love this because I enjoyed the manhwa so far. I really like the plot of the story however there are a few issues with the novel.
First, the story was so long, it easily could have been 100 chapters shorter. The pacing was slow at times.
Second, the story focused on the romance which I enjoyed but I think the story would have been better if it focused Kwon Chae-woo’s family. His family is so important to the story but it is brushed aside. His brother is supposed to be the villain of the story but he barely shows up until the end.
Thirdly, the English translations sucked. The writing is cringy and half the time pronouns were incorrect and there was a few spelling mistakes. It made the story confusing at times.
I think I’ll continue with the manhwa, because the story is interesting, I just don’t think it makes a great novel. I think the manhwa will do the story justice.
short synopsis: "There was a special patient in Spruce Hospital. A person in vegetative state and coma that the tree doctor, So Lee-yeon, has been hiding for two years…"
girls when i tell you korean light novels are something else. i picked up this light novel as i could not wait for the manhwa to be finished! and boy, was i NOT disappointed! the spice is AMAZING, the storyline? also AMAZING. i thoroughly enjoyed this.
i clearly have a thing for traumatised / suffering characters! was on the edge of my seat reading the story but 4/5 overall - i still love love loved it♡
The plots are so interesting and news. Like, a tree doctor and a murderer? And he lost his memories so she lied to him that she's his wife so she won't get killed?...Sign me up. Didn't read the manhwa cause I know zame well it's only gonna be less than 15 chapters and I was right. So I read the novel version of it. The book is really good! Not a 5 stars due to, too many things happening. And the emotional roller coaster is crazy. First, it's like a horror, then it's confusing, then it's cute, then's it getting a bit too spicy, then it get depressing and stressing, before going back to confusing and spicy again and cute...Like...What do you mean you almost died in the forest from the bear and sleep in the hospital and then boom, suddenly doing the hocus pocus on the hospital bed? Buddy is wild. Can't tell if I wanted to read the manhwa version or skip it.
Girl, wtf? I have no problem reading smut or silly stories... I’m not always looking for something deep. Sometimes a girl just wants to chill and have fun. I really try to keep my reading list diverse, but damn, this story is so messed up. One thing that’s a hard no for me is consent. I don’t like situations where it’s so ambiguous that you’re left wondering if you just read a rape scene. I’m sorry, but I can’t stand that. That’s my limit. I don’t like rape stories disguised as romances with some cursed redemption arc.
What is it with korean authors and their obsession with making the main character forcing themselves on the other main character😭 SA ,or even an attempt (like here),as plot device has to be banned I swear… Anyways, the plot was great, the characters were interesting and actually had personalities, the grovelling was nicely done. I was so proud of Lee-yeon for standing on business and not forgiving Chae-woo that easily.
However, toward the middle until the end of the book there were so many plot twists and events happening that the story got too messed up and at some point I couldn’t keep up with the because it seemed like the author just brainstormed random ideas to keep the plot going. Maybe though, my confusion could be blamed on the english translation I was reading because it was a little poorly done.
A long journey it was, but nevertheless I enjoyed “Flowers are bait”, laughed quite a lot, gasped, awed and made a lot of annotations. I was also very impressed by the plant terminology that was used as metaphors for the development of the relationship between the two main characters. Can’t wait for the manhwa to be finished being drawn so that I can experience my babies once again💕
1,5⭐ tbh it was my first time reading a korean novel (read it in eng ofc but you get the idea) and yeah pretty sure it’s my last 😃
why? bc what even was that😭🤌🏻 it could’ve been like 100 chaps or even less but nooo they dragged it sm.
too much useless stuff ngl. i didn’t like it at all.
it started kinda interesting but then nah just nah.
he was chasing her like a dog then boom memory back he hates her, leaves. then she goes to his place hating him too and guess what he starts chasing her again like a puppy.🤦🏼♀️
Seriously, this the end of Korean novels for me. I’ll stick to manhwa only from now on ✨
I finished the novel and it was a great story. Although some parts could've happened in a different way, well that's how it goes and it makes their relationship unique in it's own way, like it's not your typical romance novel. I liked the story so much but there are some parts that's a bit hard for me to accept (╥﹏╥). And about the ending, I'm glad that it's positive but I'm kind of left with dissatisfaction because I wasn't able to see what happened till the end, like when their baby was born or when they get married 😭😭 I'm still here, left hanging AHHHH 😭😭😭 I really want to know what happens next, please dear AUTHOR 😭🙏🏻 give us an epilogue or some sort of that would solve this 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Honestly I don't have a definite word to describe my experience when I read this book.
Saw its Manwha first and thought it was interesting so I switched to this book.
I am guilty to say I did kind of enjoy the plot because it was entertaining but I can't help and think if I am becoming a booktok girl for being entertained.
It was great at the start, I just hope he didn't become bad again, honestly.
For writing, it was mediocre. Full of typos, well not the author's fault I think since it is translated into english when I read it.
One star for the writing, one star for the plot.

I read the manwha first and after I catch up to the latest chapter of manwha (since it was currently on hiatus) I started reading the novel and this one is the best! 😩💙 Both of them connected to the past!!??? LIKE NOT A CHILDHOOD FRIENDS BUT TO THINK THEY ARE BOTH CONNECTED WAS REALLY INTERESTING!! also the hot brother is hot in the manwha aheheheh really love the plot of this story to the point become interested in trees 😂
I’m amazed that someone could think of and write this book. The plot, the emotions—all of it was perfectly crafted together. I’m speechless. Everything feels like a fever dream. I can’t even write a poetic review :/
“Walk as far as you want, Lee-yeon even if you abandon me hundreds or thousands of times along the way. Consider me the most meaningless thing, and cast me aside without a second thought. Just… pick me up only at the very end. I don’t care when that happens.”
Never thought I’d be reading light novels but then again why not ? Despite the funny moments this novel seems to have, the angst itself is No Joke! I was left gasping with the way the ml treated the female lead before leaving — and that was why I was tremendously satisfied with the “chasing” arc.
Furthermore, I’ve never come across a main lead that was a tree doctor! It was so fun to read about what that job entails as well!
The manhwa brought me here - I have a weakness to beautifully drawn characters.
The story was long and full of misunderstandings (I’m usually all for angst but I think it could’ve been done better) but the ending made up for it all. I really really love the ending and I am thinking if that will be enough to bump the ratings to a solid 4.
I only found the first part/season of this, so I'll only be reviewing that. I may change the review once I find further parts of it.
The story has so much potential and depth, but it often softens the grip, which makes the story fall through like sand. I wish writer would have kept it high-tension throughout and kept things dark.
This is the best Thriller romance I have ever read. ❤️ It was so hard to find the translated book but oh boy when I did, I never stopped reading this for 2 days straight. I was constantly thinking about it. Luckily I was sick so I had the freedom to read this like I was drinking water.😍🥰
Everything, everything. No me espere este libro así, admito que la narración coreana no es mi favorita, sin embargo lo fuerte que me adentre en la historia, se me hizo tan fácil, estoy muy feliz por haberme decidido en leerme este libro.
i was GOBSMACKED by the amount of yearning and pining from the male lead. yiyeon and chaewoo's relationship made me finish this novel even though i did not know what the hell was going on😍!! i wish i could have official english translations for more novels like these 🫠🩷
It took me long time to just sit and finish reading it. Towards the end the action started to unfold more and it sucked me in. Tbh idk what to think of it … I have mixed feelings… but I look forward for more chapters :))
First I read the manhwa. then I couldn't wait for the manhwa season 2 to come out and ran to read the novel. I enjoyed the whole novel very much. They both suffered a lot in their life. but in the end they got each other. and Kwon chae woo. he is a puppy😭 I love him so much.
