Despite the fact that she is a romance writer, Samantha Christy's favorite television show of all time is The Walking Dead.

And contrary to the fact that her heroines drink things like wine and Cosmos, she prefers Bud Light.

She also loves fan mail and answers all of it.

She went to college and all that, getting a degree in something she never uses. She's also got a gaggle of kids (4) and a pretty decent husband.

I absolutely loved the Mitchell sisters and when I found out there was a next gen series coming out I was super exciting and Texas Orchids did not disappoint in any way. Yes, you can easily read this book without having read the Mitchell sisters books, but I highly recommend reading that series because it is amazing.

Maddox and Andie had a connection the moment they saw each other, as brief as it was. Now ten years later they see each other again and there is still a connection. Maddox is at a point of his life where he doesn’t really know what he wants to do, he has tried working for all the different businesses his family owns, but when his grandmother passes away, he stays on the family ranch in Texas. Andie grew up on the ranch, she loves animals and is now a vet for Devils Horn Ranch and several other ranches in the area.

I loved the chemistry between Maddox and Andie. They started out as strangers, quickly became friends and slowly turned into something more. Maddox is instantly protective of Andie. There are so many sweet moments between them throughout the story. I loved seeing Maddox find himself and discover what he truly wants to do with his life.

Since this is a next gen series, I loved getting more of the Mitchell sisters and the rest of the family. I can’t wait for more of the series and more of this group that I have completely fallen in love with.

If you’re looking for a friends to lovers romance with suspense this is definitely one to check out!

Texas Orchids the first of the Devils Horn Ranch Series…….and yes we get to see Maddox all grown up!!

Ahhhhhh didn’t want this one to end ❤️

One of my all time favourite books is Purple Orchids, so to now move on to Baylor and Gavins son Maddox is wonderful.

We had our first taste of grown up Maddox in Reckless Reunion, but now he’s gets his own.

Maddox certainly got his daddy’s charm 😏

Maddox and Andie’s is fantastic love story, but of course there are many twists along the way, with some testing times in this one.

All the feels, with plenty of emotions, angst, humour and hotness, gotta love the hotness.

Loved the first book of the series, great to see some old faces back. Loving the new generation which can make way for what’s to come.

Bring on Texas Lilies……but please don’t make me ugly cry Samantha!!

Ride’em Cowboys! Spend some time on the Devil’s Horn Ranch where you’ll meet Andie, a female vet and Maddox, a NYC bartender. One is country and the other is city – but oh how those opposites attract! You’ll be welcomed by a large host of cowboys, family and friends including cats, dogs and horses to keep you company, and cowboys can’t be the good guys without the bad guys.

Romance seems to be blooming full-time when three guys are vying for the attention of the pretty and smart doc — but have no fear – there’s no romantic triangle. There is, however, trouble brewing when the ranch is struck with bad luck and sick animals. Bad things start happening and soon the sheriff and FBI are involved!

Ya’ll come see what’s happening in Texas. There’s never a dull moment! And don’t forget to wear your cowboy hat and boots! Yee-haw!!

Texas Orchids, Maddox McBride’s story has been highly anticipated as a next generation novel. This is the first next gen book Samantha Christy has written and it couldn’t be better! Maddox, the son of Gavin & Baylor from Purple Orchids, has been a fan favorite and now he gets his own HEA. I LOVED this story and all the new characters, especially Andi Shaw (Maddox’s love interest). They have such personality bringing the story to life. The setting, Devil’s Horn Ranch is richly described and perfect for cowboy story enthusiasts. I can’t wait for the second book, Texas Lilies!

If you've never read Samantha Christy, you will like this book. If you've read all her books like I have, then you will love it. I have always been a sucker for a series and when they continue to the next generation, the children of the characters we love, it's almost never a disappointment.

Maddox is Griffin and Baylor's son. Andie is the equine vet at his grandmothers ranch. They met once when they were fifteen and are reconnecting years later at his grandmothers funeral. If you don't remember Baylor, she's a romance author.

"She's a wonderful author. The way they met in college and then got torn apart by that horrible woman. And how your father saw you the first time. It was priceless. "
"That's not embarrassing at all."
"You're embarrassed by her books."
"She writes sex neverls, Andie."
"That's not true. She writes love stories. It just so happens they have hot sex scenes in them."

I love when I feel like these authors are writing about themselves, making a commentary about their books. And Baylor and Griffin's story was one of my favs so moving on to Maddox finding his love story was perfect.

He's this city guy. All grown up. College graduate but just not finding his niche. He has all this priviledge, parents and uncles with exceptional businesses. He has tried them all and just hasn't found his place. Until the ranch. Something about the ranch speaks to him and having Andie there. The one girl he has never been able to forget might just seal the deal. That is...if he can let himself fall for her before her other two "suitors" make a play or she gets hurt by a supposed serial killer.

There is mystery, FBI, secrets, kidnapping, a hospital stay, poisoning, and a killer on the loose. All intertwined with Maddox and Andie's smalltown, sweet, sometimes steamy romance.

"We sit in silence, sip wine, and watch the sky make its transformation. I can't think of a better fifteen minutes in my entire life."

This can be read as a standalone but my personal recommendation is to read all of Samantha Christy's list and then delve into this new generation of characters.

Enjoy!

Here’s to being unprofessional….. 😉

Wow… what a story…

** Spoiler Alert **

Andie is late. Everyone is about to leave and she has not yet had a chance to pay her last respects to
the woman who she loved like a mother.

Maddox cannot believe it’s her. He will never forget those baby blue eyes. It’s what drew him in ten
years ago. Although it’s the saddest day of his life, he wonders if she will remember him…

He is no longer a fifteen year old boy. A man stands before her and a hot one at that. The day they
met was just the beginning but then he left and not being able to see him again for ten years left an
empty hole deep down. She didn’t think she would see him again but then tragedy struck and once
again she is faced with her past.

There is so much story to read! A great friend who chooses money over happiness but has a special
kind of sass like no other. Her sense of humour will have you crying from laughter. A grandfather
who will hold you close to his heart through thick and thin. A potential boyfriend who has secrets
and professes his love to you but you know his skeletons are close by.

This story has ALL the feels.

You will laugh uncontrollably at the sassy comments from Christina. Gerald is a force to be reckoned

with. No one will threaten his baby girl… “What you waiting for? An invitation from the President?”
LOL…

Like all of Samantha’s books, you will fall in love with each and every character. Her stories are so
well written and very well thought through with each characters having their own POV. I cannot
wait to see what comes next.

Will Tara and Christina finally have their happily ever after?

Epic love story…

DNF

I hate having to put a book on the DNF shelf but after seven chapters and with thirty more to go I simply can't justify wasting my time on such an implausible and unbelievable plot and lame dialogue. I realize I'm in the minority but as the umpire says; "I calls 'em like I sees 'em."

Samantha Christy just keeps getting better and better. Texas Orchids is the first book in The Devil's Horn Ranch Series and for the Next Generation belonging to the Mitchell Sisters. While it is not required that you read her books in any particular order, but it is highly recommended you start with the Mitchell Sisters. The Mitchell Sisters series is the beginning of it all and in each new book you will see or at least hear about someone from an early book.

Texas Orchids is the story of Maddox and Andie. Maddox is the son of Baylor and Gavin McBride (Purple Orchids) and the oldest of the next generation. Maddox and Andie first meet for a few hours while only 15 when his family was visiting his Grandmother's Horse Ranch in Texas. That day made in impression on both of them. They meet again at the cemetery after his grandmother's funeral 10 years later.

Maddox ends up staying to keep an eye on the ranch for his father while the estate goes through Probate. It is fun to watch the City Boy (NYC Bartender) become a Real Texas Cowboy and fall in love with Texas and the Ranch.

Andie was very close to Vivian (Grandma) growing up. Vivian even paid her way through Veterinary School and the McBride's Devil's Horn Ranch is her largest client. Andie spends a lot of time on the ranch taking care of their horses as well as her own that she boards there.

Things do not go smoothly in Texas. There is lots of drama. You will laugh, cry and yell at the characters (if you are anything like me). This has all the feels while being an overall feel good story with the requisite HEA you've come to love from Ms. Christy.

This is a heartwarming story for many reasons and it is a true joy to read. I had a hard time putting it down and plan to read it again and again. It makes me miss Texas even more. Now I can't wait for January for the next Devil's Horn Ranch book.

Samantha Christy stories just get better and better and they have been brilliant from day 1!
Texas Orchids is Maddox McBride’s story, the son of Gavin & Baylor from Purple Orchids, and boy it did not disappoint – he is just the gent his Dad was!

Andie Shaw has his attention from the moment they meet at 15 at his Grandmother's Horse Ranch in Texas. The story also tells how he made an impression on her (you’re going to have to read it to find out!).

Ten years pass and he is back in Texas for his grandmother’s funeral. He ends up staying at the ranch whilst his dad works out who to sell the ranch to! A humble Maddox, who still has no idea what he wants to do workwise, starts working from the ground up and soon has all the ranch workers respecting him.

Andie is the vet who tends to the horses on the Devil’s Horn Ranch and much-loved member of the team at DHR and his beloved grandmother Vivien.

Things do not go smoothly for them, there is drama, suspicion, tears and joy. It was a joy to read. You even get to meet Aaron, Griffin and Skylar’s son from While Lillies, and the way Samantha Christy bring in his unusual birth/parents to the story is amazing! I cannot wait for Aaron’s book!

The story is complex with lots of new characters, I cannot recommend this book enough. January is a long old wait for Texas Lillies.

I read this as an ARC and this is my honest view and opinion.

3/5

• partially reminded me of we bought a zoo except it has horse girls
• when did I make the jump from billionaire romance to horse girl romance
• I don’t think I had any particular feelings towards any of the characters they were kinda just there
• constantly thinking back to that one horse girl meme and she was the only one I could picture as andie
• the whole fbi thing was neat

TWs: Death of grandmother (in book), death of mother (before book, cancer), domestic abuse, sexual harassment, animal euthanasia, mention of cheating, mention of suicide, mention of drug use, kidnapping, alcoholism, fire (past)

Texas Orchids is the first book in the Devil’s Horn Ranch series. Maddox, the son of Gavin and Baylor McBride, meets Andie Shaw when he is 15 years old. Flash forward 10 years and they meet again under sad circumstances. A “casual” relationship is all Andie can have with Maddox. But how far can casual go and are they on the same page?

This book is filled with twists and turns and is more than a boy meets girl story. There are stories within stories that will have you saying, “One more chapter” until you realize your at the end reading the epilogue. Samantha Christy always puts so much thought and tons of research into her stories that you feel so engulfed in the story like you are right there watching it unfold. A true gift!

To see Maddox all grown up from one of my most favorite books, Purple Orchids, is like an old friend coming to visit and picking up right where you left off 6 years ago.

Another great story by Samantha Christy. Being able to reconnect with Maddox and his family again had all the feels. Maddox knew from the start that he wanted the girl, but it took him time to realize the ranch was part of him too.
I love that it also wasn't just a boy meets girl story. The story about the ranch, all its working parts, and the struggles to keep it operating added another layer of interest. Plus it helped Maddox realize it was worth fighting for. Christy definitely does her research making the setting just as much a character as the people.

Oh Maddox. I loved his parents story and couldn’t wait to read his. Maddox is a city boy through and through. But after his grandmothers death he heads to Texas to help out at her ranch. Then comes Andie. They met years ago at the ranch and it’s like a mini reunion. But of course Samantha Christy cannot write a book without some twists and turns. And did she ever throw me for a loop. Another amazingly well written, emotionally charged book. Absolutely love it.

This is a next generation book from the Mitchell Sister’s series. This story is about Baylor and Gavin’s son (Purple Orchids), Maddox, who you also meet in “Reckless Reunion” as Reece’s best friend. You don’t need to read “Purple Orchids” before reading this book but it was nice to revisit the family and see where they are now.

What a journey that the author takes you on! Maddox is a 25-year-old man who really doesn’t know what he wants to do with his life. When an unexpected death in the family takes him to a Texas ranch, he finally finds his purpose and also finds the girl who stole his heart years ago when they were just 15, and now he just can’t stop thinking about her.

Andie is a compassionate veterinarian, who specializes in horses. The chemistry between Maddox and Andie is off the charts! This book has a little bit of everything for you….. heat, mystery, family, romance and laughter and more! Great start to this series and I, for one, can’t wait for the next book!

Yes… Maddox McBride gets his own story! Yee haw!

Although this is part 1 of The Devil’s Horn Ranch series, we’ve already met Maddox McBride in the Reckless Reunion story. And he’s also the son of two characters from one of Christy’s first series. If you’ve read all the series that Christy writes (which you really should!) you’ll know that she cleverly weaves the lives of her previous characters into her series.

This story centres around Devils Horn Ranch. Once owned by Maddox’s much loved grandmother, Vivian - who has recently died leaving her large, successful ranch to her son.

Maddox hasn’t stepped foot on the ranch since he was 15. He’s never forgotten the events of that last fateful day on the ranch, nor the young girl on her horse who stole his heart.

10 years later he finds himself back on the ranch staring back at the same beautiful girl only now she’s a veterinarian and even more stunning. The trouble is, Andie is already dating someone and Maddox is only staying on his grandmothers ranch until his father finds a suitable buyer. Despite their strong feelings for each other, they fight against how they feel because if their love is fated to be short lived then why risk a broken heart.

Not one for sitting around, Maddox soon finds himself learning to work the ranch.. right from the bottom. He’s always struggled to find his place in the world but the longer he spends on the ranch, helping the workers and gaining skills - the more he begins to love the sense of pride, loyalty and family that he discovers. He’s still trying to figure out his place and destination in life, but the more time he spends with the people at the ranch he comes to realise that this is his place in the world.

The trouble is… there’s trouble… and lots of it. As Andie and Maddox grow closer and ever more in love the extent of that trouble starts to become more apparent.

The vengeful and ruthless Thompson family have been vying for Devils Horn Ranch or rather the land it occupies and it appears that they will stop at nothing to get their hands on it.

There’s also the issue of Andie’s many suitors that keep popping up and throwing a curveball into Maddox’s plans. The problem is, even though they are enjoying a ‘no-strings’ casual physical relationship, neither will admit to the other that they want more. They are desperately in love with each other. No matter who offers their hand or their heart to Andie, there’s only one person she truly wants… and that’s the man who she thinks is about to walk away forever. But when disaster strikes and the chips are thrown down, Maddox needs to make sure his is the only winning hand. With his new ranch family firmly behind him, there’s no way he’s going to lose he love of his life.

Really enjoyed this story. There’s so much sexual tension between these two lead characters that it literally jumps off the page. All the way through you are willing them just to get on with it and admit their true feelings but they think they are on borrowed time. Of course, it’s pretty obvious what is going to happen… but honestly, even though I’d kind of figured it all out, the journey they take to get to their happy ending is so mesmerising. I actually liked the fact that they took things slow and didnt jump into anything. It built the anticipation nicely.

Maddox is just the most gorgeous of men. He’s thoughtful, kind, generous and caring. He’s got that sweetness that makes your heart melt, that loyalty that makes your insides warm and tingly and that sex appeal that makes, well other things tingle. Love him.

Can’t wait to read the next instalment to see what happens to teenage tear away Aaron.

Yet another fabulous book to start what in an tell will be another amazing series.

Let’s all give a big Texas welcome to city boy Maddox McBride as he sets his boots on the dirt of Devil’s Horn Ranch!!!

The son of Baylor and Gavin shows us that he learned far more than just how to charm the ladies tending bar in the Big Apple, when his grandmother dies and he returns to her ranch to find a buyer.

What he didn’t count on was finding himself and where he truly belongs in the process.

Years ago a chance encounter with a young Andie Shaw made quite an impression on young Maddox, one that has played over in his mind countless times through the years. Still, the memory of that day pales in comparison to the way she steals his breath and his focus after reaching womanhood. Maddox is captivated by the compassionate, sweet young equine veterinarian with a heart of gold, but a broken compass for finding a good man.

Maddox and Andie find themselves caught up in all sorts of drama on Devil’s Horn Ranch, some sinfully sprinkled with fun, and some dangerous and dirty. There is an element of mystery, suspense and danger in this romance that is sure to keep you flipping the pages, but there was also hefty doses of alpha protectiveness, charm, and sweetness to balance it all out.

For those of you who have read the Mitchell Sisters you are sure to love getting reacquainted with many blasts from the past as Maddox’s stories is the next generation spinoff. So much more goodness is bound to come from the Mitchell ancestry and I can hardly wait!!

I really enjoyed this story and thought Samantha did a great job writing a captivating cowboy romance that left a smile on my face for days. Highly recommend!

Like father, like son, and Maddox McBride has just met the woman who shares a love of his mother's favorite flower. And just like his parents, he and Andie Shaw have always thought about each other since meeting when they were 15.

Feeling restless with his life, Maddox receives a call from his father that is going to change his world. Travelling to Texas for his grandmother's funeral is one of the hardest things he has to do. But then when he sees Andie again for the first time in 10 years, he's glad to see her again. And when he decides to stay at the ranch until the details are settled and the ranch can be sold, Maddox is actually looking forward to it.

Andie never forgot Maddox. She always wished she'd see him again. Now he's at the ranch, and she loves the time they have together. But the problem is Maddox isn't going to stay once the ranch is sold. But can she remain just friends with him?

When a series of issues continues to hurt the the horses at the ranch and the FBI show up, Maddox and Andie have to find the answers to the mysteries surrounding them. And when Andie has an old flame show up, Maddox has to decide whether to stay in Texas or stay for all he's come to want and love.

Samantha Christy brings the next generation of the Mitchell sisters to Texas! Visit with Gavin, Baylor Griffin and meet Aaron at 15. This time out follow the mysteries and suspense and Maddox's own HEA grow. It ride worth taking!

Oh Darlin’, I was sooo not ready for this book! Texas Orchids is the first next generation book in Samantha Christy’s highly anticipated The Devils Horn Ranch series.

Finally seeing a grown up Maddox get his own story was everything I hoped for and more! Maddox and Andie haven’t seen each other in a really long time, but when he has to go back to Texas to say a sad goodbye to his beloved Grandma, the sweet, now highly acclaimed local vet has him wrapped around her pretty little finger. The connection between them is impossible to ignore, and when it turns out that Andie could possibly be in danger, he ramps up his advances.

Maddox is a city boy, not a cowboy, but with every day that Dawn’s, he feels the connection not only to Andie, but to the beloved family ranch he’s now a part of grow more than he ever anticipated!

I love a small town romance, I also love a good cowboy romance, combine these with a good measure of suspense and what you have is a phenomenal story, with so much depth, emotion, and a whole lot of heat that is bound to ignite something inside you. This book will grip you in its clutches, hold on tight and take you on one hell of a ride, one you seriously won’t forget for a long time!!!

5 HUGE STARS!!!

Another great start to a New Series by Samantha Christy..only this time we Head to Devils Horn Ranch to join some of the next Generation from one of her most popular series ,The Mitchell Sisters! Christy’s series are some of my favorites that I often find myself reading more then once.
While Texas Orchrids can be read as a stand alone , it does bring some old favorites back ..Baylor and Gavin from Purple Orchids but now their son Maddox is all grown up and ready to find his way in the world.

I absolutely loved that Maddox seriously is the one who is lost and trying to find his way instead of the female this time. Maddox is a city boy drifting from one job to the next to find his place when he ends up on his grandma’s ranch. Andi is the area vet who has her witts about her and know exactly where she is headed. Their chemistry has them drawn to each other from the beginning , but watching a city boy become a cowboy definitely lends its self to some funny moments. As always there is more to the story in what is going on at Devils Horn Ranch and Christy does not disappoint with her trademark twist and turns that make her such a great storyteller. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
