The charm of Sanibel Island works its magic as people visit and decide to make it home. Along the way, they not only become friends, but they also become a family. It has all the feels - a few tears, some laughs, it’s heartwarming and touching, sometimes frustrating, and love abounds. I find the characters to be delightful and I look forward to my next return to Shellseeker Beach. I loved it!

I couldn’t stop reading this book because I loved the new character Noah and wanted to see how his story would play out with his mother Claire. I enjoyed the references to The Parent Trap, which I watched last summer with my mom for fun. I also like all the literature references as well. What a heartwarming book!

Some cheese to go with the Pizza

#3 in the Shellseeker Beach series, this book gives a lot of details into many of the relationships we see forming in books 1 and 2, with more cheese factor than the first 2. Still, I look forward to reading #4 and seeing where it goes. Just hopefully, with less romance cheese.

More Fun and Family on Shellseeker Beach

In Sanibel Mornings, Hope Holloway introduces more characters, more conflict, and more drama than in the first two books of her Shellseeker Beach series. Older women give conflicting advice, younger women begin (and almost end) new romances, and a last-minute arrival threatens the sweet life the two youngest Shellseekers are beginning to build...
Oddly, Sanibel Mornings begins at night, when PI Miles brings Claire's son, whom she gave up for adoption at age 19, and he accuses her of ruining his life. It crushes Claire, but Noah's adoptive parents died on 9/11 when he was 3, and he spent the rest of his childhood bouncing around in the foster system. (Based on what Miles told him about Claire's life, he envisioned a hotshot lawyer not wanting him.) Aging out left Noah with no family and no money, so he worked odd jobs and moved around. When Miles found him, he was tending bar in Miami, an easy journey to Sanibel. He'll fit right in, as long as he gets the chip off his shoulder. Claire screws up her courage, tells Camille about Noah, and is shocked at her mother taking the news so well. Far from directing Camille to get an abortion, she's thrilled to be a *grandmére* (not a "grandma"; it sounds " too old") and is eager to meet her daughter's son!
Early morning on Shellseeker Beach is best for walking before the weather gets too hot and humid, so half-sisters Eliza and Claire (who've bonded enough to be just "sisters") usually take a walk then and talk. Claire tells Eliza about Noah's aggressive greeting, and Eliza assures her Noah is pretending to be tough to cover up serious hurt from his life before meeting her.
Eliza's daughter Olivia is running from overbearing Camille, driving her to potential sites for her stylish clothing boutique but waving off Camille's hints/requests/demands that she work at the boutique. Besides the paycheck, she doesn't want to give up the perks she has from her job in Seattle (though she doesn't want to leave Shellseeker Beach).
Noah pries the name of his father from Claire, who thought the father would want nothing to do with a child as he pushed toward greatness as an architect. His name is DJ Fortunato, but he's not an architect. In fact, he's an artisan pizza maker in California! They call him, and again Claire is surprised by his lack of fury. It seems being a great architect cost DJ his family, and after the divorce he determined the best way to live is one day at a time. He apologizes to Claire for dumping her on his graduation day, and she confesses that she was minutes from telling him she was pregnant. He's so happy about being a dad he travels to Sanibel right away! Noah is confused at first but puts the pieces together: his parents aren't heartless professionals giving up an unwanted baby to pursue their careers, but people who realized work success doesn't satisfy and are leaving New York (her) and California (him) to be with their son.
After a visit to the most popular pizzeria on the beach, where the owner treats DJ like a celebrity, DJ presents Teddy with a license to prepare food in, and sell it from, the unused kitchen in the back of her tea shop, where she "sells" her homegrown teas but really gives them away to customers who need her tea--basically everyone! The pizza kitchen's grand opening keeps Shellseeker busy, and it looks like DJ and Noah are off to a good start.
The next night is rainy, but Claire hurries to the pizza kitchen for "family" time. Noah assumes DJ and Claire will return to their pre-baby lives and storms out angrily, but Claire runs after him into the pouring rain and declares that where he goes, she goes. Whatever he does, she'll support. She's his mother, and--
Lightning hits too close for comfort. As they run toward the pizza kitchen, they hear an inhuman scream and then a faint cry for help. DJ is lying unconscious in front of a blackened pizza oven.
While Claire calls 911, Noah faces the possibility of losing his father soon after meeting him, and he realizes living in the present is much better than worrying about the future or regretting the past. When DJ is stabilized in the hospital after a 10-hour coma, father and son call DJ's sisters and daughters, respectively, to tell them about DJ's close call. Ironically, the pizza oven saved his life by being struck, so DJ's injuries weren't life-threatening.
Olivia has finally admitted to herself that she's attracted to Deeley, but the "kayak god" has taken to leaving periodically for 2-3 days at a time without saying goodbye and without explaining where he's been. Olivia sees him on the way back from yet another disappointing site visit, and Camille (who endured Dutch's cheating) advises her to follow him. Knowing Deeley is a former SEAL, Olivia follows him without detection, and they're "rewarded" by seeing him go with a young woman into her house. When she confronts him, she learns the woman is the widow of a SEAL friend and he's babysitting her toddler.
Great book! Recommended.

Holloway continues her Shellseeker Beach series with another heart-tugging, hopeful, and deeply satisfying story. In Eliza, Claire, Teddy, and others, Holloway has created characters who are so intriguing and relatable that somewhere along the way I forget that they are characters on a page. Instead, they've become dear friends, not only with one another but also with me, the reader. I cheer for their happiness, worry about their concerns, cry over their heartaches.

I love how Holloway continues to add new characters - and story threads - in each book while seamlessly interweaving them with the ongoing stories of the central characters. Everything intertwines so flawlessly, organically creating emotional peaks and valleys, exactly like real life. She keeps me invested in these characters, eager to discover what will happen to them next, never sure what's coming around the corner (or in the next book), but invariably charmed, entertained, and emotionally moved by it all.

If you haven't discovered Hope Holloway's Shellseeker Beach series yet, pick up a copy of book one, Sanibel Dreams. For maximum enjoyment, as each book builds upon the previous, I recommend reading the series in order.

We return to Sanibel Island for another heartwarming book. We meet the son Claire gave up for adoption 26 years earlier. Her son, Noah, has an angry chip on his shoulder when he meets her. He has had years for the feelings of abandonment to fester. The magic of Sanibel Island has healed the wounded hearts of others, bringing together friends and new family members. Will Noah be next in line for some magic? This book has the essence of a heartfelt, feel good story. Lots of emotion, expectations, and tragedy thrown in as Noah discovers what it means to be part of a real family. This is a definite must read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

WOW!

I couldn't put this one down. This series has EVERYTHING and this was only book 3! Hope Holloway does an incredible job of keeping your interest in so many characters and more entering the plot. Even though there are a lot of people to keep up with, I found that I loved reading about everyone and I love this mixed up made up family and I'm in love with Sanibel Island! Now I'm onto the next with great hope that Livvie & Deeley will soon get married. This book was even better than the last! I strongly recommend it and the whole series up to now. I have no doubt that I am going to love book 4!

The next installment of the Sanibel series does not disappoint. Claire meets her son she gave up for adoption over 26 years ago, and Noah is not very happy with her. Then bring in Noah's dad that didn't even know anything about him and how he handles the information is so amazing. Olivia finally admits her feelings for Deely but is worried about how to make her life there. Shellseeker Beach just keeps bringing people in and making them more of a "family" than some real families. This story is so good. I can't wait for the next in the series.

Get ready to ride the waves!

I'm a chain-reader so series are always appealing to me, but this series is exceptional! There's romance, mystery, drama and moments so touching that you just give in to the tears. I laughed, smiled, cried and thoroughly enjoyed every book in this series and I am looking forward to book four. It's an enjoyable emotional ride you are guaranteed to enjoy.

I’m still loving this series!

Now that Noah has shown up on Sanibel Island to meet his birth mother Claire, can they forge a relationship? Noah has a resentment chip on his shoulder because he can’t understand why she gave him up as an infant. He also wants to meet his birth father. Will Claire help him? How will his father react to the news? Can they all work through their issues to actually become a family or will one devastating night end it all? Read the book!

Couldn’t wait for the next book in this series and was not disappointed. The story dives deeper into the characters themselves and their relationships with others on Sanibel Island. Seriously, I love these characters so much…they are so realistic and genuine. Can’t wait to find out what happens next!!!

Shellseeker Beach. A place where strangers are coming together and becoming family, facing turmoil and decisions of the past, learning to accept that the past doesn’t define the future! This cast of characters are learning to trust and hopefully love each other as a true family.

A great story continues here

A great story continues in this book! The " found" family continues to grow with each book and this one is no exception. A baby given up for adoption, an old boyfriend is found. This is a really good read.

words can’t describe how good this series is….

“I get two for the price of one,” Miles called with a laugh, his smile always so genuine. It was especially wide when Eliza was around, no matter how much she wanted to deny that.

Great escape into this book.

This series has many twists, turns & surprises...all very well written.
That it mostly takes place on Sanibel Island, gives it a familiar feel. It also demonstrates that "family" can be by blood and/or l Iove.
