The girls escort Shanicia to the Outlands for another meeting with the Junior Regiment in Arcadia, the fledgling realm across the Uninhabitable Lands to the northwest. They are tasked to ferry the former Great Mother, their Gramma Ranelle home after they complete their business there.
Once they arrive at the camp of the new Arcadius Mountain Gypsy band, they find Rain is not there, so Misty goes with a guide from the mysterious Tree Walkers of Arcadia to meet with the errant Gypsy.
Old enemies abound and secrets are revealed, as the threat exposed reveals the fragility of life, even for one as powerful as Misty.
It seems that the Junior Templar follows in her mother's footsteps when it comes to stumbling into trouble in a world where magic and technology collide.

"Read" via Audible. The second story in what is the adventures of Misty, is a show fun little romp with the next generation of heroes of the realm. Most of the story is kind of a recap of the lore with really shortens the actual adventure. I hope the next one has the marriage of Misty an Inger with possibly an adventure on their honeymoon. It is still fun to visit the lands of Sparrow and I hope we can visit for a bit longer.
I had missed this gang of amazing characters, I still miss Mother Laney but Misty and her siblings and soon to be wife are a great way to continue the wonderful story that started with the Techromancy Scrolls. Looking forward to the next one.
What else are you supposed to do when Gramma Rain gets herself into mischief? Why, you do your best to retrieve her without making too much more yourself! Or that was the plan for Misty, Ingr, Shan, Sara, and their new friend Nyx.
Loved this short! Any glimpse into the world of the Techromancy Scrolls is a exciting time for me!
Another great book from Erik! I love getting a little more insight into the live of Misty and her band of mischief. Wish the book was longer and that we could learn a little more about Arcadia; such as where they survivors from the before time who adjusted, gypies who found a new home or a group of outsiders who decided to settle down. However, I understand it’s a spin off of the original books and is meant to give us a little peak at some of Misty’s side adventures.
Before she is knighted, and marries her longtime love Inger, Misty must accompany her younger sister on a trip to Arcadia to help setting up the newest branch of the Junior Regiment. A simple task with no real danger, right? But of course everything goes spectacularly pear shaped. Misty is Laney's daughter after all.
