One day, we awoke to find that the world had stopped turning and the sky had turned to ash.

The streets are quiet, and even the birds have stopped singing.

It can’t be just us because we’ve lived through so many more horrors than anything that could possibly be outside of these walls.

Being alone would be even crueler than still being with her.

We know that there have to be more survivors.

We’ll find them because our supplies are running low.

The world may be crumbling down around us, but we’ll do what’s necessary to go on.

But how much consumption does it take before we finally free ourselves?

Bloody f hell. I’m speechless.
I feel like it isn’t truly necessary to go into details here because these 2 author’s names already tell you exactly what to expect and what you’ll get.
I love my dark stories messed up, emotional, raw and gritty and this is book delivers with a bam.
Buckle up for the twincest ride, it is one hell of a mess but oh so worth it.
5 horrific stars, ladies.

Let me start by saying, this has a lot of triggers, but what to expect Yolanda Olson's books? 😉
Hensley and Tieran are siblings, their mother is a hooker and addicted, since they were kids, she prostituted her own children, until they manage to run away from her.

descriptiondescription

The story unfolds in a post apocalyptic world, where there are some dusts that infect people.
Some disappear, others become monsters.
Hensley and Tieran are everything to each other, and kill anyone who gets near them.

descriptiondescription

Now, they're on the way to their mother's house, to make her pay for what she did to them.
They plan to kill her too.
So this is a very insane book, be careful if this may offend you, this is not for everyone.

descriptiondescription

As usual, this not ends with an HEA, in any way possible, is kinda sad...
But I guess it couldn't have one, this is so deranged, Hensley and Tieran are beyond salvation.

Things I don’t usually mention in my reviews, because I feel like some authors names just kind of speak for themselves, but I will, just in case someone got lost on their way and wound up here.
This book was MESSED UP. Like SERIOUSLY messed up. If you’re even the slightest bit squeamish, just go ahead and hop out of here. You don’t even need to finish reading my review.
If you don’t like a couple that’s so far from the traditional norms that they’re actually related, then I really don’t know why you’re still here.
BUTTTTTT. If none of that applies to you and you relish being in the places where the weird flourish and things are descriptive and gross and WILD as all get out, then I guess I’ll slide over and you can sit over here with me.
This was as far out of my comfort zone as I’ve ever been, and I really did enjoy it, even while I wrinkled my nose and gagged a little at the horrors on these pages.

“We’re infected in our own ways because our love is a disease. One that neither of us ever wants to be cured of.”

This is a dark taboo romance. So check your triggers and understand it’s taboo not forbidden!
Hensley and Tieran have had a terrible life. They grew up with a mother who was horrible and all they had was each other. Being twins they already had a close bond but the things they dealt with as young children really brought them together. They are now living in an apocalyptic world surviving while planning vengeance. The authors do a great job at showing you the past and how the characters get to where they are now. The authors also do a great job of making us understand why the relationship between Hensley and Tieran is the way it is. I loved the story and wished their story would continue!

This didn’t work for me. I love zombie/rager/infected type books, they work for me because of the horror elements mixed with the intensity of emotions coming from the “survivors”. This didn’t work for me because our two MCs are entirely too fucked up to be emotionally affected by the these infected “people” and the apocalyptic themes in the book. It very much felt like “well this is just another Monday” to them and so it took away from the aspects that were supposed to cause the reader to feel emotion. Basically this was all just shock value and that doesn’t work for me. I’m familiar with this author so the ending didn’t come as a surprise to me but others may want to be wary.

The relationship didn’t feel taboo to me either. We didn’t get those forbidden scenes where it felt really naughty and secretive. That’s what makes it taboo for me.

Overall: 1.5

How can something so wrong feel so right ?
Twins Tiernan and Hensley have only ever had each other to rely on even when they were young and their mother was selling them to pay for her drug habit they protected each other . When the apocalypse comes they still only have each other they find solace and protection in each other’s bodies they vow to make their mother pay and when the day comes everything will end. This book moved me with what the twins were put through then when they were older they still couldn’t get away from it all. This book was a beautiful and haunting a disaster waiting to happen and I know people will shout it’s wrong but who are we to say what is right and wrong and what any of us would do if the world was ending and we only had each other to turn to no matter how we are related .

Well, this book is certainly not for the fainthearted whatsoever. It's brutal, raw, revenge filled and at parts heartbreaking when you dig deeper into what happened to Hensley and Tieran.

The story follows them both venturing back home after years away and following a disease which has turned the human race into boiled covered predators. I loved the post-apocalyptic feel throughout the book.
Tieran and Hensleys love is completely taboo, they're both extremely twisted as well, which definitely makes for an incredibly dark and interesting story.

I'm happy that they both got the revenge they deserved. If you're looking for a dark twisted book, then try this but be warned it's filled with a lot of triggers but there is a small content warning before you start.

If you know these two phenomenal authors, then you should already know what you're in for.

Two survivors, of everything.
Their childhood.
The end of the world.

On a mission.
Some may say revenge.
Others, retribution.

But like the Phoenix, they will rise before going down in flames!!!

Perfect post-apocalyptic read but definitely not for the faint of heart.

Please mind the warning.

"I'll kill anyone that tries to take from you what's rightfully mine."

Okay, this book was BEYOND amazing. I love my dark romance with a dash of messed up and a GALLON of incest so let me tell you.... Yolanda Olson and Emery LeeAnn do both of those things so EFFORTLESSLY WELL. I could not get enough. I LOVED Tieran and Hensley. The possessiveness and rage Tieran had over Hens had me sweating. And the way Hensley went psycho on anyone who touched him had me in LUST I am telling you. They both were CRAZY for each other and not in the brother and sisterly type of way. And to make things better, they were twins. ❤️
I don't think Gloria knew what she started with these two.
"All of the things she tried to take away from us grew into a mutation of its own and we've claimed each other's souls as the only way to survive this brutal world."

Speaking of that nasty stink, the Gloria scene was SO NEEDED AND EXECUTED THE BEST WAY!!!! I was SO happy! This book was definitely not for the squeamish. Yes you always hear that with these authors' books but this is not only an incest book but there's detailed child sexual abuse, it's the end of the world out here y'all so there's some murdering. And not normal killing. I will leave it at that. It is the Yolanda and Emery type of slaughtering. I knew it would be one of those ewwww types of books when there was a kiss that involved dried skin flaking off into the mouth.
I finished this book last night and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. It was just one of those books that you want MORE of. The ending will definitely be one people talk about. And that is the great thing about these authors too. They don't write the most conventional types of books or endings and they ALWAYS leave you wanting more!
"I promised you forever, Hens. That's what I intended to give you." 5 STARS AND ABOVE!!!

Ever read a book and be like what the hell did I just read? Yep that would be this book. Please read the trigger warnings. If you want a different type of romance this book is for you. Yolanda and Emery knew exactly what they were doing when writing. Wretched is messed up, brutal, and vile but I loved it. Hensley and Tiernan cross the taboo line and it caused me to be invested. Maybe Im the crazy one. I mean come on look at the title and you will know you are in for a crazy ride. Whoever reads this message me because that ending is what made this book. I had to sit and gather myself. It will be something you will want to talk about.

Bonnie & Clyde have nothing on these twins!! Tieran and Hensley will burn the world down for one another.
The pain they had suffered as children in this dystopian world is unimaginable. But now that they are grown, they are wrecking havoc on any and everyone. Their so called mother is going to get what’s coming to her tenfold.
Ahhh this story was everything and more. I’m sad its over but it all went down in a blaze of glory.

Tieran and Hensley take you on a dystopian adventure through their minds as well as what is left of humanity. It is depraved, heartbreaking, triggering and horrific, but you can’t look away.

Walking dead with a sprinkle of taboo fairy dust! Count me in!

This is a very taboo, very trigger heavy story bout two siblings that have been wronged by the one person that was suppose to love and protect them, their mother!
They live in a world that’s been “infected” and now they have to live through that in order to get revenge on their mother! Not only is this a world of infected, but it’s a world where their relationship will never be accepted & they are fully aware of that! I love their story and the fact that Yolanda added a Walking Dead vibe to it. *chefs kiss*

Please again, go check your TW/CW before diving into this!

This will be a short review as not much to say and also it would ruin the experience. This story is fucked up, dark, extreme taboo and I would say parts of it are horror. But I loved it. I adore dark twisted books like this that challenge anyone’s morals, and when it comes to reading I have none so it was a win. Not for the tender hearted so be warned. Great book. What an ending.

Wretched is a dark, taboo romance about the horrors of the world inside and outside an apocalyptic world. Where our main characters Hensley and Tieran must navigate their new world whilst trying to eradicate the monsters of their past & present. Monsters lurk in the recesses of Hen's and Tieran's mind and the sprawling desolate land.

▰╦̵̵͇̿̿̿̿╤─ 🫀 🖤🔪🩸🔪🖤🫀 ─╤╦̵̵͇̿̿̿̿▬

My god, this was an emotional rollercoaster that resembled the battlefield Tieran and Hensley find themselves in. Wretched is not for the faint hearted, it's gory and damn right repulsive at times but absolutely engrossing non the less. Yolanda and Emery never shy away from bringing us lewd, twisted and powerful stories that will have burrow it's way into your heart. This was one of my favourite reads this year! If grotesque romances with revengeful characters that are a product of their past and unredeemable but lovable... this story is for you.

Wretched, holds no prisoners and Pack's a deadly punch! This has a galore of violence and triggers... Read at your own risk!

Two bestselling authors, Yolanda Olson and Emery Leeann, came together to create a powerful novel, Wretched. Abused at a young age by their mother, Tieran and Hensley set out on a mission of revenge. Wretched took me through the hardship the twins faced as they struggled with their past and present. They were victims, who channeled their hatred to the outside world.

I was a bit lost at the opening chapters but picked up on things as the story progressed. The authors showcased why the twins became the people I read about in the book. It was an amazing outline of how some victims struggled to get past their past. Even when they believed they had.

The smut scenes were a good addition but not to my liking. I felt like it would have been better. The little action scenes bent towards unrealistic for me. If it leaned more to being realistic, it would have been a plus. It could have even elevated the story a little. The ending, oh gosh, the ending. I was definitely not a big fan. Still, Wretch was a short read with major themes that touched my emotions.

Wow. It hurts your soul. The trauma from the past that sets this story shattered me.

I was 10% in and let me tell you I have read many dark and unhinged books, this one is no joke. The one kissing scene that early in, for the first time since I started reading dark romances, literally had me dry heaving. That was a no from me. Absolutely not.

Okay back to my review. I loved it. Every moment. It is completely taboo, a relationship that otherwise would make you feel slightly queasy. Hensley and Tiernan were made for each other, in this twisted post apocalyptic world they had found themselves in they were each others destiny. It might be strange way too put it, but they are. It was actually kind of beautiful.

The ending.. I don't know if I am happy for them in a way or if I am feeling like it shouldn't have happened. I get it though, I do. I suppose it was kind of freeing for them.
Either way, my tears are running freely and its all for those beautifully unhinged, survivors.

Wretched is bit twisted. I do love Hensley and Tieran. From the moment they were born, they were thrust into a life of used and abused and found comfort in each other. Read the warnings before you venture into this one. This is the first book I've read by Emery, but I have read Yolanda before, so I knew it was going to be dark and depraved.

Hensley and Tieran have been running for quite awhile and now they're ready for their revenge, they just have to avoid the dust clouds that seem to be infecting people. Wretched is a post apocalyptic, zombie-esque read. If you like taboo and like your books on the darker side, then you will love it.

More Horror Less Romance

🌟 🌟. 5

Thinking this is a dark romance is the wrong way to go. I had to go back and look at Kindle, and it places more on the horror section, and that makes more sense. The main characters come from a dark past and find themselves at the end of the world during a "zombie" apocalypse. It's a kill or be killed world, but the only person they want to kill is their mom. Well that's not quite true. They kill people of all ages but their mom is the main goal. Spice is there, but the lack of connection to characters makes it fall a bit flat. If you are looking for a revenge tale with lots of triggers, this might be your book.

I have no idea what I just read but I don't hate it at all.
A super quick read that left me utterly speechless.

Ruthless, gripping, detailed, gruesome, raw, and honest.

Tieran and Hensley, dissolute twins who have survived the absolute worst things that humanity has to offer. I wouldn't call this a romance, more of a horrifying story of revenge.

I did shed a tear at the end of the book. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that was not it!

Definitely worth the read (if you think you're up to it!)
Nothing is off limits, trigger wise! Good luck if you believe you're able to brave this book!

Ok...lets start with if this is your 1st Yolanda Olson book...read the trigger warnings, they are not a joke. I am a huge Yolanda fan so I know to hede the warnings. Ok onto the story. Tiernan and Hensley are on a mission. Their life was not easy ...in fact horrible by every meaning of the word by their piece of shit parents. The story was written in great detail and I was very involved to them getting their retribution. However, I personally feel the ending was lacking in the detail that was so well written getting to that point.

We’re infected in our own ways because our love is a disease. One that neither of us ever wants to be cured of.

I *really* enjoyed Wretched. It was dark and sick (but in the way I live for in horror movies). In fact, I think this book would make an excellent movie!! I liked both main characters and how they protected each other, but Hensley was a total BADASS. I loved seeing certain character(s) getting what they deserved. That was fun. 😈 I didn't expect to tear up the way I did during the ending.

This book was gut-wrenching. The bond between Henseley and Tieran was something completely different. It was a guaranteed non hea-as expected from Yolanda Olson, but I keep getting dragged because she writes her characters and emotions and the total plot beautifully. I loved the post-apocalyptic trope in the book, the surviving, the fucked up feelings, the messed up past, the vengeful hatred--it felt too real.

Honestly, this book was raw. Raw as an uncooked potato (I apologize for my choice of words) but it was one of the best books I've ever read.

HOLY HELL!!!

I am generally not a fan of post-apocalyptic books, but I loved this one. Hensley and Tierah and have a horrible life and have only relied on each other to survive. Thay had to do whatever it takes to survive in this new reality.
This book is beyond taboo, very dark with time that are heartbreaking as they are brutal.

Also, if these two authors add a trigger warring's before the book, then you know they are serious

That's ok, I didn't need that heart. It's fine. I'm not crying, you're crying!

Yolanda Olson has once again told a rich tale with an amazing amount of world building in a short story. (Short story, novella, what is the cutoff there? I should look that up) It's so detailed I can easily "see" what's happening every second with any excess. Truly exemplary.

Not sure what to think.

To be honest I'm not sure how to feel about this book. It's crazy and totally screwed up. I wouldn't call it a love story at all, but more of a post apocalypse tale. In my opinion there is no HEA, unless it's in the afterlife. To those with triggers, please be mindful of the warnings at the beginning of the book. I don't have triggers, but this book could easily mess with someone's head.
