Ryan Kaine is on the money…

When a member of The 83 dies in an apparent accident, Kaine knows better.

A faceless leader of a drug gang rules the dead man’s neighbourhood and Kaine and his partner, Lara Orchard, go undercover to discover the truth. Offering financial support to the dead man’s grandson, they draw the attention of the local crew. Before they can complete their mission, Lara is attacked, and all bets are off.

Kaine prepares to take on the gang alone, but Lara will not be side-lined by a bunch of street thugs. If Kaine needs her help, she’s sure as hell going to provide it.

Together, Kaine and Lara are about to serve justice to them all…

If you like Lee Child, Mark Dawson and Robert Ludlum, you’re going to find the Ryan Kaine series compulsively addictive.

#1 bestselling author with the US-based Lucky Shores romantic suspense series and the Ryan Kaine military action thrillers, and creator of the popular DCI Jones Casebook series of police procedurals, Kerry J Donovan was born in Dublin, before spending many formative years in West Wales.

Kerry earned a first-class honours degree in Human Biology and a PhD in Sport and Exercise Sciences. A former scientific advisor to The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, he helped UK emergency first-responders prepare for chemical and biological attacks in the wake of the 9/11 atrocities. This background adds a keen scientific edge to Kerry’s writing.

Kerry’s life experiences help him add an extra layer of realism to his stories and his characters. For example, readers will discover the water-borne adventures of his action hero, Ryan Kaine, a former member of the Royal Navy’s Special Boat Services, as authentic and exciting as a night-time dip in the Bay of Biscay.

As the owner of a “pristine” Honda NC750X, you’ll often find him touring the less well-known regions of Europe in search of interesting locations for his novels. A life-long sports enthusiast and open-water swimmer, the moment Kerry catches a glimpse of the ocean, it’s off with the bike leathers and on with his wetsuit.

A citizen of the world, Kerry recently returned from spending two decades living in the heart of rural Brittany and now lives with Margaret in a recently renovated bungalow in Nottinghamshire, UK.

When not writing, Kerry enjoys riding his motorbike, jogging, swimming, spending time with his four wonderful grandchildren, and travelling the world.

A member of The 83 dies in an apparent accident. The faceless leader of a drug gang rules his neighbourhood. One man will find the truth.

When former Royal Marine, Ryan Kaine, and his partner, Lara Orchard, go undercover to offer financial support to the dead man’s grandson, they draw the attention of the local gang crew. Before they can complete their mission, Lara is attacked, and all bets are off.

Leaning heavily on his enigmatic hacker friend, a new recruit to his growing team, and a surprise ring-in, Kaine puts Lara out of harm’s way and prepares to take on the gang alone.

But Lara has stuck by Kaine since the day he brought a war to her quiet country veterinarian practice and literally set it on fire. She will not be sidelined by a bunch of street thugs. If Kaine needs her help, she’s sure as heck going to provide it.

Using specialist electronic equipment, a questionable inside man, and his proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, Ryan Kaine is … On the Money.

Book number 5 in the series, the strength in the book is the growing relationship of Lara and Ryan, also his communication with Corky. Ryan's thoughts of his growing relationship with Lara, a new soldier joins the ranks of the team.

So why only four stars, I find this one just a fraction slower than the previous books, could be that I personally wanted to know who TM was, a little too much time with gang wars, less with Ryan's team.

But saying that I read the last 35% of the book in one evening as a new character came into the story, although still not sure I liked him.

But still a great book just for me personally I liked the way he caught/trapped his previous villains.

But I am on book 6, in fact half way through already in reading.

Four stars

Good book; however, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first four in this series. I rate it 4.5 stars.

Great action

Another great book in this series. Once I start reading I can't put it down. Non stop action and suspense, great series and nail biting action.

I just finished reading Ryan Kaine: On the Money by Kerry Donovan. This is the 5th book in a series entitled the 83 Action Thriller Series after the first book in which 83 passengers die from a bombing. But I am not going to say any more about that and spoil the book for you. Suffice it to say that book and the other books in the series are all full of action and very exciting to read, but each is easily readable on its' own.

This book takes place with Ryan and his new sidekick, Lara, on a quest to bring some financial justice to one of the families of the 83- a young man who is living in a dangerous neighborhood full of gang activity and crime. Before they are able to make it to the house of their contact, they are spotted by one of the gangs and accosted. Lara is targeted and Ryan comes to her defense. He finds a way to diffuse the situation for the time being and they continue on to meet their client without further issue. They meet with Darwin Moore, son of the late Elise Moore. What they have to tell him is quite life changing indeed and so the story goes.

I found this story to be fully engrossing and quite detailed. It never left me feeling like it had not been researched or missed an opportunity to add background to make it better. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something highly entertaining in an edge of your seat kind of style. The characters have depth and believability and the storyline is exciting. Grab a copy today and enjoy an breathtaking thrillride!

A real action thriller

Although I found this book a bit hard to begin with – getting used to the slang language used and the terminology was a bit heavy going – it didn’t take long for me to get into it and in the end, I enjoyed it very much. There were plenty of cliff-hangers from one chapter to the next and the action was very fast paced. At times I found it very hard to put down because I was really worried about what was going to happen next and concerned that our heroes would lose the fight. I think the fighting in this one was even more intense than it had been in any of the others so far, as there seemed to be no let-up from the gang members who were totally intent in killing as many people as they could.

However, the biggest twist of all was the revelation of who TM was – certainly I never guessed the truth and was totally shocked when it was discovered. Once again, the ending was quite a guessing game as to who would survive the battle, but I was pleased to learn that Ryan Kaine will be back to fight another day.

Very racist --- wish I had known....But , lots of action !!

I really enjoyed this book , this series.......

Except for the bigotry and racism the author uses.....

. I am a person of color ( colour in British English ) , and I absolutely CRINGE at most of the l negative language in here.

That being said, along with the racist , bigoted comments and such , there is the slang that I have Never been able to figure out. I usually try to figure out what the slang means , but " heretofore" , I am grossly unsuccessful. To me ,there are dropped words, and stuff like that makes me Crazy !! Makes it hard to read, and interrupts the flow of the book. I mean , why do I need a translation dictionary to read a flipping BOOK !!!
However, even with all of that nonsense, I enjoy Kaine and crew, and , since I bought the series, I Will be reading more.......

Not my favorite Ryan Kaine.

In a way, I’m glad that all of these books have a different tone from one another, but a trend is developing that needs to come to an immediate end. More and more of each book is spending a greater amount of time dealing with Laura and Ryan arguing over whether or not Laura should be more involved in operations, or kept back where it is safe. We GET it…. there’s conflict there, but it is starting to become very tiresome, and taking away from the parts of the story that matter. Let’s hope the trend doesn’t continue.

There was more character development in this book of secondary characters which was nice since I have read the previous four books in the series. The turn at the end was kinda expected, but I liked the fact that I figured it out before it happened. I enjoy the fact that the main character respects life and those who make good choices even if they've made bad ones in the past. Everyone should get a second chance. It's interesting to see the different ways Ryan gets out of dangerous situations in each story.

In this action-packed novel, Ryan Kaine is joined by Laura, his girlfriend. He doesn't want her involved, but she involves herself. So, while they try to help the grandson of one of the "83" victims of the plane crash, they find themselves face-to-face with the local drug gang. Unfortunately, the leader of the gang only communicates through electronic means. It takes Ryan time and effort to locate the actual villain.

They just keep coming!

Yup, Kerry J Donovan does it again with another great book in this series. Again, Ryan is out to help another of the 83 and this time Lara has more of a role to play. Obviously by now they are getting closer together which does worry Ryan. But they get thorough this by having to disband a troublesome gang in Walthamstow and find out if a death was accidental or not. All done in the usual manner of Ryan, with a little help from an unknown. Loved it!

Another good read in an entertaining series.

Book 5 sees Ryan and Lara apparently on their own against a London street gang. Of course they get some help along the way, thanks to Ryan's military friends, Cody, and a certain police inspector. Lara proves her metal once again as she and Ryan become even closer. I really enjoyed this book and while the villain was no surprise, it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the book.

My least favorite of the Ryan Kaine series I’ve read so far. Yes, it has all the action, plot twists and appealing characters I love about the series. But I was annoyed (and offended?) by the chapters written in the dialect of street thugs of London. I’m ok with dialogue, but to have the whole chapter written as if the character was thinking it was just too much. I recommend skipping this one, but I’m definitely coming back for more in the series when I need this type of escapism.

The 5th book in the series starts dramatically, continuing to build on the earlier books. I’m enjoying following Ryan’s campaign to support his victims’ families. This time, he’s accompanied by official girlfriend, Lara Orchard, for the first time. I’m still waiting to find out when, if ever, Ryan’s name will be cleared so am about to start reading Book 6, On the Edge.

Totally Action.

While I enjoy all of the Bryan Kaine series, this one was filled with a lot more bad language. This and the gang members very poor grammar, while not taking anything away from the story, didn't add to it at all. It was good to note the humanity of Kaine and Lara were still evident.

Really surprised this book went to print. Loved the series up to now, seems writers block may have taken over with scene fillers, repetitive nonsense and strange unnecessary meetings in quarries when they all then go to a cafe! Weird and can’t finish this one. Apparently a couple of books on things pick up again.

on The Money

I would have given this a 4 star because it getting old with all same sappy padding of words about how he has to protect the “DOC”. I didn’t because the plot twist was so good.

awful

The first book was re ally good, the second one also. Third was meh, but the fourth better. This one was so bad I couldn’t finish it. It’s full of sappy blather and pages of inconsequential filler.

Ryan checking in on a student.

A relative of the 83 in need of help, at least it needed checking out, so he and Lara went on a trip to London. Corky also ready to help with information.

Great Series

Book Five so probably another 78 to go but they are good books. Good characters, plots and the action moves along at pace.
Righter of wrongs, Ryan Kaine and team hold your attention from start to finish.

Language Overload

I guess London thugs probably use foul language as much as it's used in this book, but it was overused in my opinion. The story had several major twists that were great for the plot!!

another rollicking ride!

Although this novel does Walthamstow a real disservice, the plot, action characters continue to be fleshed out and developed. Kaine continues his journey with additional twists and turns.

On the Money

Good yarn. Especially when the identity of the Top Dog was revealed. Would never have guessed that twist.
However the book should have been a little longer to explain the outcome of all the loose ends.

A good read, but dragged in places

The two finally get together. Some of the plot was a bit over the top compared to earlier books in the series. Would have given it a 4.5 for story and 5.0 for the narrator. So 5.0 average near enough. Look forward to the next one.
