4/5

I can see the crucial moment for our protagonist having to end the life of the nanny, the expected path would be that she decides not to do it and face the rich in a gore feast, although personally I would like her to decide to kill her hoping that the author unfolds narrative with more depth about this decision.

I like it!

"I prefer you alive." is a very strong sentence in this world and I loved it so much. I had to take a moment to reflect on it and question what it really means to be alive and if being alive in a world such as this would actually mean something. Could you live with yourself? Could you really sleep at night?

Enjoying the series but it would have been much more interesting for me if the reason they continue to eat humans was something more substantial than "you have to/magic".

The step mum's motivations confuse me also - she invented contracts so the workers would know what they were getting into, so she values honesty. But that honestry didn't extend to Joey when it came to letting her know in advance that once she ate human flesh for the first time, she would need to forever?

Maybe my questions will be answered in the next edition...!

Here, we get more information, and the plot starts to pick up a bit. Joey has been in town for 5 weeks, and we see her changing, becoming more accepting. But that ends pretty quickly as what happens is still jarring, to say the least.

Con el avanzar de la historia, se siente más lenta pero el subtexto toma fuerza. A partir de este punto, el uso color ya solo es utilitario, pero tiene sentido que ahora sea así. Vemos el otro lado y aunque desagrade, se siente verosímil.

This one is really good too! I would love to give it a more 3.5 rating, but I rounded down because I prefer Volume 2 a bit more. Anyways, this chapter is slightly more filler, but it's beautifully drawn. The contrast in both art styles and personalities are great.

"I prefer you live"

Is it really worth it in a world like that tho?
And how did her boyfriend stay away for a year if you can't really live without it anymore? Didn't he say he disappeared for a year?

And why does it change things?
I'm shocked to say the least like WHAT THE — WHAT IS HAPPENING.

Forbidden Fruit

The artstyle as per usual is well done, but the real stars of the show are how the panels are done, and the writing. You really get a sense that the wife is trying her best, but can't seem to shake the feeling that something's wrong.

WHAT WAS THAT

I don’t even know how to describe this. Firstly, the comic is beautiful. Love the style of illustrations. And the ending. OMG.

Astor's mother counsels Joey as to what is happening. She tells Joey that they are alike as they are outsiders to this rich lifestyle, but that Joey will get used to it.

To some extent, she does. She is eating the "meat".

Although, Joey does seem bothered still (rightfully so). Another retirement party. Bump once again has to emcee. As Joey and Astor take a walk, a bloody Pip arrives and takes Astor away. It appears that Astor is needed in the killing. The mother once again speaks to Joey. She basically threatens her: you can eat or you can die. Joey has no choice.

I love the idea of reading a comic as it comes out, but I struggle with it. I had to reread the first two issues before reading this to remind myself of the goings on.

Not certain ow this will end in two issues in a satisfactory closing to this story.

I like the story and the art, but I am not overwhelmed by it.
