Ghost Trapped

Rate this book
It seems there’s a wealth of restless spirits needing a nudge to move on their way, and the Running Scared Paranormal Research team are anxious to help. Taking a job in Old Sacramento, Wade and Jason soon realize there’s a more than average haunting at The Hitching Post restaurant. Built over the old tunnels and hidden under many of the businesses, they find a world of spirits that have been forgotten. Until now.

Jason is excited to take on one of their first big jobs as an official paranormal research group, but this case is different than anything they’ve encountered before. He reaches out for help from someone connected to the spirit realm who has first-hand knowledge on what it’ll take to ensure their safety and complete the job, but will it be enough?

Wade is thrust into a world he’s tried to stay on the edges of. He’s been to haunted houses with Jason in the past, but he doesn’t consider himself an expert. His newfound abilities will be tested in ways he never imagined, and only he knows how much he can handle, both physically and mentally. After being injured, he once again faces the fact that the spirits he’s always feared have the ability to hurt them. In this situation, the person who can help the most, may not be a person at all. A gay paranormal romance thriller.

This fantastic, fast paced, grab-you-by-the-feels, emotionally charged, exciting, amazing, keep-you-on-the-edge-of-your-seat, nail biting, totally awesome, hair raising, action packed, and haunting (literally!) hell of a thriller was even better than the first book in this intriguing series.

Another homerun!

Wow everyone! This series just keeps getting better and creepier. Something evil and twisted by hate and rage lies under old Sacramento. Ours guys now joined by Jimbo and a little help from others, some of the ghostly persuasion lend a helping hand. Can they send this spirit on or will it be the end for one of our sexy duo? Read to find out. You don't wanna miss out on this crazy ride. All the stars for this magnificent tale!

A new company is formed.

Wade and Jason set up the Running Scared Paranormal Research team, and they get their first job at the Hitching Post. Jimbo joins the boys and meets a special person from his past, along with a few more people he would rather have not met.
Jason forms an alliance with a ghost, all this in one book. They keep getting better.

Even though I wouldn't say I like horror films and ghosts, I adored these books, and they don't make me jump, which is always a bonus. Also, I love the dynamics between the main characters and their friends and family.

The narration was OK, but I did wince at some of the characters performed by Allen Jefferies, especially the female voices. This was a short read/listen and was made shorter by increasing the speed, which is typical for me.

The guys of the Valley Ghosts series are at it again, this time they take a job in Old Sacramento at The Hitching Post restaurant after deciding on the name of Running Scared for their official paranormal research group. They get additional instruction and direction from Janice who intuits the nature of their upcoming challenges amongst spirits. With Jimbo in tow, Jason and Wade discover a warren of tunnels beneath the restaurant and many of the other businesses that are filled with trapped spirits including one particularly malevolent entity capable of possession! They get assistance from a ghost they'd encountered previously, a young girl who quells the malevolent spirit with the truth--he had NOT been abandoned! Whoa! Splendidly narrated by Allen Jeffries who projects the characters extremely well, BL Maxwell's 'Ghost Trapped' is an incredible addition to an absolutely awesome series. The writer was a little too descriptive about those tunnels! I could feel the weight of the earth right over my head. Excellent world-building with well-developed, fully-formed characters. Such good listening! Such very good listening!

3.8 stars.. Book and Audio Review
🎧 Narrated Allen Jefferies
I liked the various voices used for the characters and the narrator has some very different vocals.
A great start as this had me laughing right off with the voices as a new mystery why ghosts are being held in a basement.
When Deidre and Janis meet I think the boys don't know what they've let themselves in for. Wade's past ghost experiences puts him into dangers now with attracting evils. Wade and Jason where a couple and Jason would fight to keep him safe.
An enjoyable story to read of the wee little ghosties some nice but others where horrible.
I did notice a few repeated information in the writing. An action packed book and dangers ever present in this with a great ending.

Wade and the team officially have there ghost business with Running Scared Paranormal Research.
A new job with a basement haunting in his restaurant that Dean wanted it to stop.
Dean and Jimbo had known each other previously at cullerary school.

Ghost Trapped finds Wade, Jason, Jimbo, and Dean going on a spooky adventure beneath the basement of a restaurant in Old Sacramento. This was one of the spookiest books in the Valley Ghosts series because the Running Scare Gang has to deal with multiple malevolent spirits all with a tragic shared history. Wade, Jimbo, and Jason are learning more about their spiritual awareness and Dean has a surprising connection to Jimbo from culinary school. There were some really creepy moments in this book that was well-written. Read this with caution at night but it is definitely worth several re-reads. BL Maxwell has a special talent writing paranormal books so Ghost Trapped was definitely another 5-star read. I hope there will be a Valley Ghosts #3 soon because the ending of Ghost Trapped hints at more spooky adventures for the whole gang :)

This series just keeps getting better and more creepy. I adored seeing Wade & Jason so in love! This time, they are investigating their first official haunting case. Dean, a restaurant owner and former Flame of Jimbo, wants them to investigate the haunted goings on in his basement. The ghost this time is more evil, spooky, powerful, and down right terrifying! We also have an encounter with a Ghost we glimpsed in the first book, but we finally find out who she is. She's plays a part in this one and was suprised by how she knows our evil ghost. I was so happy to learn more about Jimbo, and to see him fall in love.

I will probably never walk willingly into a basement again!
Jason and Wade are back in action and they have established their own new paranormal research operation, they recruited Jimbo and their first investigation is at a restaurant, owned by an old flame of Jimbo!
This book was such a rush of adrenaline! The evil being in this one is even scarier than the ones in the first book and the story kept me on edge the whole time!

I loved this book. Wade and Jason return. They are adjusting to their new relationship and being in a paranormal group called Running Scared Paranormal . Jimbo has joined has group. They get a call about a job at The Hitching Post. Jimbo finds his blast from the past named Dean. But will the things that go bump in the night defeat them all? Or will Running Scared Paranormal beat what cant be seen?

Stay away from basements

Such a clever name for their business. Also, I think Wade’s mom should be in intelligence. Wade and Jason are so sweet and protective of each other. I like watching their relationship deepen as well as seeing them flex their ghost hunting muscles. What a nasty and scary ghost this episode has. I think I’ll avoid any basements from now on. BTW, I really like Jimbo and need to see more of him. A fun, spooky, creepy, action-packed ghost adventure that I’m glad I get to experience from the sidelines.

My expectations were magnificently exceeded by Ghost Trapped.
The character development for our main couple was entrancing. Their level of commitment and needs to care for each other was very clear and endearing. Even learning more about Emma's life and ghosting was unexpected and added to the level of warm and fuzzies I felt at the end of this volume.
We have appearances by an Earth Mother, who helps move things along emotionally, and off-screen interactions with Janis who helps our boys survive their main challenge. Their eventual solution is aided by an information dump from an unexpected source, a nice twist.
Overall the plot races forward, avoiding unnecessary filler material. Even the obligatory sex scene moves the plot along with tender caring. I'm looking forward to subsequent volumes in this promising series, and hope that Janis will get some on-screen time.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. The group of ghost hunters is growing. It starts in book 1 with Jason & Wade, hunting & helping ghosts all the while moving from friends to lovers. Then Jimbo joins the team, and now we have Jimbo's sister and a love interest for Jimbo as well as Wade's mum and a ghost reappearing. More experience and skills for them to draw on as well as their newly discovered abilities. Loved how excited Wade's mum gets with the business and Jimbo finding romance.
Another dangerous and scary situation that's more difficult and risky than they're prepared for.
Good read. Great characters. Love the set up for thd next installment/romance.

Jason and Wade continue on their spooky adventures. They encounter and must fight an evil spirit that doesn't play by rules and wants Wade as his own. This new adventure grabs you from the beginning and won't let go. Action packed, suspenseful, electrifying, heart stopping, and haunting from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next adventure with the Running Scared guys.

You know the feeling when you read a very good book, and then that awesome book gets a sequel? And the sequel ends up being absolutely everything you hoped for and more? This is it! It has all the spooky awesomeness from the first book, with all new scary adventures and fluffy moments between Wade and Jason! I absolutely love those two, and their adventures, and running scared! I need that on a tshirt
