"You and me, Liv? We're just not written in the stars,"
"Then we'll just rewrite them."

“My boy with the tattoos had given me the stars. It made me want to give him the universe.”
“He lived in the dark.
I worshipped the stars.
I’d praised them, basked in their twinkling lights.
He’d hidden among them, covered in the shadows of their night.
I’d danced under their glittering radiance.
He’d concealed himself in the darkness surrounding them.
A sky of dreams. That’s what they were to me.”

“I wouldn’t take, I’d give. It was what she deserved. If I took, then I’d want to keep her forever and Livingston Montgomery was not anything I could keep. She was on loan from the universe like my own walking, talking miracle.”

“He wasn’t just a phase. He wasn’t just anything. How could he be anything when he was everything?”
“Forget setting the world on fire. Liv and I? We were going to burn down the universe.”
“Close your eyes, Nova.” -- “Why?” -- “Because you can’t dream with your eyes open.” I lifted up on one elbow until my face was right above hers. I could practically taste her sweet breath. “I’m pretty sure I can.”
“My dreams had never compared to a moment I’d spent with her. She was the dream. She was it for me.”
“You and I, Liv? We’re just not written in the stars,” I choked out the lie. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. But she had an answer for everything. “Then we’ll rewrite them.”
“Most girl’s first time would be a fumbling mess of hands and teeth and pain. But not mine. No mine would be a night I’d think back on for the rest of my life as one of the most romantic experiences ever. My boy with the tattoos had given me the stars. It made me want to give him the universe.”

“Close your eyes, Nova.” Her words snapped me out of whatever lust-induced daze she’d put me in. Her eyes were still closed, but her lips were smiling.
“Why?” I wanted to watch her. She knew how I liked to watch.
Her grin widened at my question. “Because you can’t dream with your eyes open.”
I lifted up onto one elbow until my face was right above hers. I could practically taste her sweet breath. “I’m pretty sure I can,” I whispered. Because my dreams had never compared to a moment I’d spent with her. She was the dream. She was it for me.
“You and I, Liv? We’re just not written in the stars,” I choked out the lie. It left a horrible taste in my mouth.
But she had an answer for everything. “Then we’ll rewrite them.”
“We’re gonna be fine as long as we stick together.” She ran her hands through my hair and I closed my eyes. I fucking melted.
“It’s you and me, Nova. You and me against the world.”
