Stars Duet #1

Sotto le sue stelle

Rate this book

5 Don't forget to look up, Stars!!

Amazing!! I loved every heart felt, gut wrenching, unique second of this book.

 photo stars_zpslsutovee.gif

Good girl meets bad guy from the wrong side of the tracks or in this case bridge. Yes, we have all read the good girl, bad boy troupe but for me this was so much more. The depth Amie manages to create in all her characters and the unique plot made this book such a pleasure to read and also why I am now so shattered.

I was dragged through this book by my heart strings. When I read Livingston/Liv's back story of how she lost both parents and her last moments with her dad it gutted me.

 photo oneeyetear_zpsso8ft5qw.gif

Now living with her evil witch of a stepmother and her creepy stepbrother, she has nothing but her field of stars on the wrong side of the bridge that she had shared with her dad. Until one night she meets the hot tattooed Adam Nova and her life would start getting a whole lot better, for the time being anyway.

Adam's life story is just as sad as he is going through life trying to find his way. Hiding behind the tattoo's covering him hoping no one sees the lost, broken, sweet and intelligent man underneath.

The story builds until before you know it you are part of Adam and Liv's lives, going through everything with them. Feeling their excitement, sadness and love.

 photo Adamandlivkissing_zps5m9bpjov.gif

"You and me, Liv? We're just not written in the stars,"
"Then we'll just rewrite them."

Everyone remembers that all consuming first love, the intensity and pull. Well times that by 5 and you may come close to what Adam and Liv went through in this book. I guess that's what you get when you only have each other.

OMG, that ending!! I screamed 'NO' at the same time as Adam, I wanted to jump into my kindle and save them, my heart shattered.

 photo shatteredheart1_zps8iusspjm.gif

This book was beautifully written and I just can't explain how much I loved it. I haven't been this emotionally affected by a book in a long time.

I can't wait to see how Adam and Liv's story plays out, I hope they find their HEA and the sheriff and the other scum get what's coming to them.

“My boy with the tattoos had given me the stars. It made me want to give him the universe.”

I am a huge fan of Amie Knight and will read anything she produces. But do you know what? This might be my favorite of hers to date. I am always a bit dubious about reading duets because I know I’m always going to be left with a colossal cliffhanger, then it will be at the forefront of my mind until I get my hands on part 2 and the anticipation of what’s to come next will be almost too much to bare. Beneath His Stars is book 1 and it is a heart wrenching tale of two beautiful broken young lovers from two totally different worlds and their love of the stars that shines so bright.

Livingston (Liv) has lived with her horrible and pretentious step-mother and creepy and somewhat disturbed step-brother since the death of her father. She’s a good girl, from a well off family. One of her greatest joys in life is to escape to a field in her hometown and to look up at the stars that adorn the night sky. The field has become her safe haven and this is where she meets a shy bad boy from the wrong side of town, called Adam Nova.

Adam may be a bad boy from the wrong side of the bridge with his inked body and bad boy attitude, but he has a brilliant mind and his love of astronomy literally made me swoon. There is nothing sexier than a man with the smarts to match the good looks. Adam has had a tragic past, but his love for Liv knew no bounds and I loved the slow build-up of their relationship and how it developed.

“He lived in the dark.
I worshipped the stars.
I’d praised them, basked in their twinkling lights.
He’d hidden among them, covered in the shadows of their night.
I’d danced under their glittering radiance.
He’d concealed himself in the darkness surrounding them.
A sky of dreams. That’s what they were to me.”

I thrived on the intense and passionate love that sparkled between them and how their feelings were never bound by society and status. Those things are only labels and not what truly matters. Their love was written in the stars and whilst my heart broke for both of these tortured souls, they met when they truly needed one another. The beautiful and broken dreamer who bathed in the light of the stars and the tortured bad boy who liked to hide in the dark… and therein lay the beginning of a beautiful love story.

Beneath His Stars is an exceptionally written story that epitomises why young love is so powerful and heart pounding. I loved this story from start to finish and await with bated breath for the conclusion to Liv and Adam’s story In Her Space, which is due for release on November 15th.

This story was so intense and emotionally driven that I literally felt everything right down to my very core and I cannot recommend it enough.

This was so freaking fantastic and I need more!!! I need book 2 ASAP please! Amie Knight is soon becoming a favorite of mine. She’s a wonderful storyteller and this star-crossed Romeo and Juliet kinda story got me hooked from beginning to end. I don’t want to spoil it much cause I feel like it’s one of those you have to read and experience for yourself. I loved both of the main characters so much. Livingston was such a brave girl, and Adam just captured my heart completely! The character development was on point, and the angst was off the charts. I simply can’t wait to see how this story will end. I’m completely in love.

Also, major bonus points for getting the Puertorican lingo right on point. It’s one of my peeves and Amie just nailed it!

Sadly I found Beneath His Stars is flat. Yes it has all the cute sweet moments but the plot, the writing and the characters bored me. I have to admit I fell asleep reading it.

I have high expectation for Miss Knight. Sadly I am not impress with this book.

**SPOILER-FREE Duet Review**

‘We could have burned the world down. Maybe we did. Maybe we’d burned too bright. Too big. Until we’d just snuffed out.’

“Look at the stars, Liv. If you feel alone. Don’t forget to look up.”

This duet was and is everything we love about reading. It brought us back to how we used to feel reading YA books like this back in the day. It felt old school. Amie Knight brought us back and we loved every minute of this coming of age romance between two teenagers from opposite sides of the tracks, or river as it was in this case. The story builds at a wonderful speed until the crescendo at the end of book one. It was pure brilliance. Two kids, as different as can be on paper, but within them both lies a big heart and a penchant for dreaming of stars and a better life.

“Close your eyes Nova.”
“Why?”
“Because you can’t dream with your eyes open.”

We felt every emotion and passion as the years went by and we followed Liv and Adam from young adults into later adulthood, which in the second book is really quite steamy, therefore more mature. The writing was on point – stellar in fact and the power of this first and forever love is really all encompassing. This brilliant duet is the type of story that’s like crack to us, and we literally inhaled it!

‘This girl was too good for me. Too sweet. Too fucking amazing and she was going to end me. And I was starting to be totally okay with that. What I wasn’t okay with was ruining her.’

There’s nothing like that first feeling of love. The butterflies – the excitement. Especially when love comes into your life when you need it the most. When you need your soul mate. The impossible dream when circumstances and life is hell bent on destroying you, destroying your soul. This is the story of a tattooed bad boy living in meagre circumstances with just his dad, after losing his mum under tragic circumstances. A boy who lives with great sadness in his heart covered by a hard exterior. A boy who dreams of love and the stars. It’s a story of a parentless and innocent rich girl clinging on to her memories of her late father in order to survive her present life living with her stepmother and step brother. A girl who just wants love and give love in return. It’s a heart-breaking story of suffering yet it’s also a story of hope.

‘She wanted me to fight for us, but I couldn’t because I was too busy fighting for her.’
‘Adam Nova had been gorgeous at nineteen. At twenty-nine he was the stuff dreams were made of. And I didn’t dream anymore.’

Adam Nova is our kind of hero. A hero that has all the makings of an anti-hero but really isn’t. His heart and mind is ruled by love and family. He’s the perfect example of why no one should be judged on looks nor money. Where we grow up is a circumstance of life out of our control, it’s what lies within our heart that ultimately matters and determines who we are. What a wonderful hero!

‘I was richer, bigger, wilder than any motherfucker on this island now. I dared them to come after me. I craved it. I was ready for the fight.
‘I didn’t realize quite how broken we were until that very moment. I wondered if I’d ever be able to piece us together again.’

Livingston Rose Montgomery has lost both her parents and is living with her awful stepmother and step brother, on the rich and affluent side of the river. Whilst this girl has all the comforts that money brings, she has none of the vital things we need in life like love, a warm protective embrace and the importance of a family behind her. Yet this girl still embodies hope, dreams and inspiration for change. She’s vulnerable yet feisty. She’s an inspiration who puts her life first no matter the obstacles. She’s Adam’s soulmate and he hers. No matter what!

‘He was back. He was scary. He was gorgeous. I’d never stopped loving him. Not for one moment in ten years.’
‘My Luna was a fucking woman. A beautiful one, And I’d missed it. It almost broke my heart all over again.’

So much time has passed yet every moment counted in this duet. Every moment had its own specific intensity, nothing was superfluous nor unnecessary. As much as there was drama and darkness there was love and light. Everything and everyone was brilliantly written and we felt like we’d lived a lifetime with Adam and Liv which is exactly how you want to feel after reading a story.

“I don’t look at the stars because they make me think of you. I don’t look at the stars because then I wonder if you’re looking at them, too. I don’t look at the stars because they make me wonder where you are and what you’re doing and who you’re loving. I don’t look at the stars because I don’t deserve them, just like I don’t deserve you.”

Again, we absolutely LOVED this stunning duet. Beautiful writing and beautiful characters. A story that grabbed us and kept us riveted from first page to last. A story with a theme we’ve read before but Amie Knight had her own unique story to tell and it felt new and fresh. If you’re a hopeless romantic like us we know you will fall in love with Liv & Adam as much as we did. A romance with a real star-crossed lovers feel that’ll steal your heart. The romance is strong within this duet and as we’re suckers for a great epilogue we left Liv and Adam with a smile on our face and a romantic swoon in our hearts! Now, if you loved The Line by Amie Knight as much as we did, you’ll also have a wonderful surprise too!

“Kiss me bravely. Kiss me like you mean it. Kiss me under the stars.”

Apart from the MCs being so young, I really liked this. Hero was a good son! He was a nerd.
I really hope the author doesn’t destroys his character in the upcoming book and turns him into a manwhore! 🙏🏼

“Just so we’re clear. I don’t think that I love you, Livvy. I know it. I know I love you. I knew I’d love you the first time I ever saw you beneath the stars. And I know I’ll love you fifty years from now. And hell, I don’t just love you to that moon and back, baby. I love you to Pluto and back even if it would take me nineteen years to get there and back.”

First love is all consuming and for Liv and Adam it’s a chance to defy everything they’ve ever known or believed about their lives. Under the Stars Liv can be free, under the stars Adam can be someone else, together they can beat the odds. Beneath His Stars was a very sweet, angst-filled Young Adult romance and I find myself today, having finished the books a few days ago, still thinking of the star-crossed lovers and those trying to keep them apart. Unlike other good-girl meets bad-boy romances, Adam really isn't a bad guy, he's just from the wrong side of the bridge and embraces the thoughts people have of him as a way of protecting himself. Liv isn't rich and snotty either, and Amie Knight uses the story to show that neither is what people think of them and that their love story can be real. Circumstances though are difficult and there are outside forces that want their own future for the two and that's for them to not be together.

I wasn’t sure about Liv at first, her story so similar to those we’ve seen repeatedly that mimic Cinderella, but she grows on you. I pushed on when I wasn’t feeling connected to her and when we finally saw the real her, the girl under the stars with dreams, goals, and a great attitude to match I knew it was a story I had to finish. She’s a bit hardened and has the typical evil stepmother, but Amie Knight updated the prince and Cinderella’s story for sure. It isn’t all happily ever after, neither Liv nor Adam have the perfect life to save the other with, but they have love even when the world is against them. The ending is heart wrenching and just like other readers I’m desperate for the conclusion to this duet.

Overview:
Adam(19) & Liv (16). Book 1 of 2. Dual POV. Ends with a cliffhanger.

Adam:
Adam comes from “the wrong side of the bridge” and is covered in tattoos, which he uses as a mask or a shield. He works part time, is trying to put himself through technical school and is dirt poor. Adam has a good heart, but people see him as cold and intimidating because he is very standoffish. He has a disabled father who is good to him and a best friend (a girl named Raven) who knows him inside and out and has been by his side since he was 5. They have a very strong bond. He’s introverted, terrified of success, frightened of failure and frustrated with his circumstances.

Liv (aka Luna):
Liv comes from a wealthy family and is part of a very affluent community. She was very close to her dad, and when she was 13 he walked with her to a field and told her that he wouldn't live much longer. As they looked at the nighttime sky, he told her. “Look at the stars, Liv. If you feel alone. If you feel sad. I’ll always be there.” Now she is 16 and being raised by her step mother (who she refers to her as her stepmonster). She feels very alone and unloved. She’s surrounded by wealthy people who are malicious, mean, thoughtless and selfish and that’s not who she wants to be.

Together:
It started out with a note left in an old, glass coke bottle in the middle of a field. And from that one gesture, Liv finally felt a spark of hope in her life. “See you next time beneath the stars.” Liv and Adam don’t seem like they should work, but they really are beautiful together. Lurking beneath all the tattoos that Adam tries to hide behind, is a sensitive, romantic guy. There were a couple places where he even shed some tears. Awwww. He just melted my heart. And Liv, she has a backbone and is able to see all the great things in Adam and accepts him for who he is. She sees the beauty inside that Adam tries so hard to hide. Both of these two have suffered the loss of a deeply loved parent and that is an additional bond that just cements them. Although their time together is relatively short, their love is all consuming and believable and I wanted to wrap them up in a bubble where no one would hurt them. Alas....that was not to be.

Overall:
The book is a relatively short read (about 190 pages) but it packs a punch. The character development is really good and all along I was rooting for these two. The pace was just right and I was fully engaged throughout the story. They are both broken and my heart just broke for both of them. But their acceptance of one another and their passion and young love was so well written and I experienced all the feels. The ending...OMG. I just wanted to jump through the pages and throw a few punches and get in a few kicks myself. Oh, my poor tortured hero. I’m so hoping he kicks some ass in Book 2. Can’t wait to start it.

Quotes:
“Just so we’re clear. I don’t think that I love you, Livvy. I know it. I know I love you. I knew I’d love you the first time I ever saw you beneath the stars. And I know I’ll love you fifty years from now.”

“But still, I looked at the stars and I wished. I dared to dream."
"I wished on a shooting star. I prayed for peace. Not for the world, because even at sixteen, I was still wholly selfish. No, I prayed for peace within myself. And strength to go on when it felt like I had no one on my side.”

“I hid behind the pieces of art that covered my body. Every color, every picture was a story that hid mine. And I liked it like that. When people looked at me, they didn’t see me. They saw my ink. They didn’t want to talk to me. They didn’t want to know me. I loved it. I hated it.”

“he was real. There weren’t any fake pretenses or niceties between us. I trusted him implicitly because he didn’t have anything to gain from our friendship but me. He just valued me”

“What do you see when you look up there?”
"A million possibilities. A world of aspirations, hopes, wishes.”

“I don’t need saving. I just need you.”

Favorite Quotes:

He was covered in tattoos. They didn’t just peek out of the sleeves of his shirt. No, this man wore his tattoos like clothes. They blanketed his arms and came out of the top of his shirt and onto his neck.

My finger brushed the paper and I felt a spark of something. Something that felt bigger than me… It was like coming alive. It was electric and it lit me up from the inside until I felt like all of the stars above my head were suddenly all living inside of me.

He was one big contradiction I couldn’t get enough of. His tattoos and attitude screamed bad boy, but his mind? It screamed nerd. I loved it.

I don’t just love you to that moon and back, baby. I love you to Pluto and back even if it would take me nineteen years to get there and back.

My Review:

I am devastated and would be fuming at the heinous cliffhanger if I didn’t already have the next installment locked and loaded on my beloved Kindle. I rarely peruse YA and I initially felt a bit tricked into reading a genre I generally avoid, but I soon didn’t mind that at all. The storylines were angsty yet intriguing and taut with flinch-inducing family drama and tensions that remained tautly held throughout. I had trouble putting my Kindle down. Amie Knight has mad skills.

Sorry, This book was highly rated and because of it I had high expectations, and you know what they say about high expectations..

I was just bored. It's me, I don't like YA or NA or anything that revolves around young kids romance. It just doesn't do it for me anymore, I'm too old for their bullshit.

And than, there were their monologs.
Long, long ass monologs. Deep endless thoughts about everything. At times, several pages of inner thoughts and one sentence of conversation.
Boring.

And her creepy stepbrother? Creepy and probably violent if the story will go with this theme. Maybe the heroine's potential phisicly attack by his creepy fried who is the son of the creepy and corrupted local sheriff who wants to put the hero in jail just because he's from the wrong side of town. I think I know where the story is going so No. I don't care. Too much unnecessary drama in my eyes.

Maybe I'm wrong but than maybe I'm not.

Again I'm sorry, this is the author's first book and I'm glad everyone liked it so much.

Beneath His Stars is the first book in Amie Knight’s The Stars duet, and my first book by the author. I went in curious, only to be blown away by the story. It was an incredibly beautifully written story, hooking me from the very first page, leaving me desperate for the second part of the duet.

From the very first page, I was sucked into Amie Knight’s beautiful words. It was clear in no time at all that Amie Knight has a way with words, a way of stringing sentences together in a beautiful way. From the start, beautiful lines are thrown our way, and the beauty continues throughout.

Wonderfully crafted prose are beautiful, but without a good story to go along they’re not as powerful as they could be. Fortunately, Beneath His Stars was a wonderful story in addition to being beautifully written. It’s a story that sucks you in, one that leaves you truly invested in the characters and the events.

I’ll be honest and say I thought it was a bit simple at first, but as the story progressed it became more complicated. In fact, it even had some unexpected darkness to it. I confess that some elements were a bit on the predictable side – I read so many dark romances that when it appears in smaller qualities I’m not as shocked as I could be – but this failed to lessen my enjoyment of the story. These elements introduced unexpected depth to the story, taking us in directions I had not anticipated.

Without a doubt, Beneath His Stars has guaranteed I’ll be reading more Amie Knight in the future. Not just In Her Space (which, of course, I’m obviously going to dive into), but all of Amie Knight’s work, as I need more of the beautiful words.

Liv and Adam are going to burn down the universe!
I am not a big fan of Young Adult novels... I prefer reading books about mature situations... but Amie Knight has a magical way of capturing my heart and interest with every single one of her books! I don't know what her super power really is but this author's words are so enchantingly put together to form the most delicately refined stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading. "Beneath His Stars" is yet another fine example of writing excellence... a story that will both soothe and break your heart and soul. Two teenagers from the opposite sides of the bridge... one living in the slums while the other literally suffering in the riches, fall in love under the vast universe in the most strenuous of circumstances... "helplessly pulled and twisted together by some unknown magical force." 5 Immaculately Perfect Stars for "Beneath His Stars"... a story that will make your heart swell.

⭐⭐⭐⭐1/2

Io lo so. So di amarti.

Please hide all sharp objects before getting to the end of this book! (it ends on a crazy AF cliffhanger!)

Ok so Adam is a man from the wrong side of the bridge. Liv is living in the world of the rich, but doesn't feel like she belongs there. They cross paths under the stars that her dad showed to her before he died. Adam's mom was obsessed with astronomy also and it rubbed off on him. (she had died too, so the loss of a parent was something they also had in common). But as with any "wrong side of the tracks" story, no one wants to them to be together. You get to witness this beautiful love bloom with these 2 just to see them ripped away (I don't think that's a spoiler, given the prologue) I am quite eager to read In Her Space so that I can find out what happens.... you get a LOT more from that cliffy than just them getting ripped apart....there are quite a few revelations! And I want more!!!
Thankfully I won't have to wait..... the conclusion is already availabe!

I really liked this book. This was the love story of two people who seemed worlds apart, even though really only a bridge separated them. Bad boy meets good girl under the stars and their hearts collide. Liv was sheltered from everything except the evil within her own home. I wanted to just hug her and say she only had to endure for a little longer. Adam was the 'bad boy' who was just trying to survive the environment around him. I felt for him so, so much and for the life he wanted, but felt he could never have.
But when they came together under the stars, nothing else mattered but what they felt for each other and the world they made together. But secrets didn't stay hidden for long and the chaos that was sure to come, came in the worst way.
And omg, the revelations that came out at the very end had my hand covering my mouth in shock. I thought I had some of it figured out, but the full extent of it being revealed was mind-blowing. Definitely looking forward to book 2.

I honestly struggled with how I wanted to start this book review. I have so many words about this book and its literal amazingness, but I wanted the words I used to convey just how utterly incredible this book was. I wanted to make sure that the first words of this review let you know how much I loved every single moment of this story. I wanted my words to do these characters and their unforgettable story the justice they so deserved.

If I could only tell you one thing about this book it would be that it is hands down one of the BEST books I have EVER read in my reading life.

If I could tell you more things about this book it would be that these characters, their emotionally breathtaking journey together, and every beautiful, heart wrenching, and angst filled word of this book gave me life. It gave me everything and then some. It blew me away, consumed me so truly, and just turned my entire world upside down while I was within its pages.

Amie Knight exceptionally crafted an epic love story that I will NEVER forget for the rest of my days.

This story is one that spans years, decades, and so many moments that will take ahold of you with all that they have. Beneath His Stars is the first part of a completely mesmerizing and unforgettable story about young love, friendship, and the magic, pull, and power of the stars.

This book is a sweeping tale of what happens when the boy from the wrong side of the track meets the rich girl who he shouldn’t touch. But really, it’s so much more than that. Beneath His Stars is not just a typical story of boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, and they live happily ever after. This story is so much more than that. This is a story of an unexpected friendship that turns into so much more. This is a story about what happens when you meet the one person you didn’t even know you needed in your life. This is a story about meeting the person who changes it all for you, the person who alters your life course, your heart, and your very being. And as you read this story with Adam and Liv, you will experience those changes yourself.

You will not be the same person at the end of this book that you were at the start of reading it, and that is just part of what makes it so utterly spectacular.

Beneath His Stars is the first half of a love story that spans a lifetime. It is a story that will touch every part of your heart and every part of the night sky along the way.

This book gives you the first half of a story that will own you mind, body, and soul. What Adam and Liv give you in their love story will take your breath away, will have you feeling every single emotion you didn’t realize you even had, and will have you knowing that what you’re experiencing with them is truly unique. Beneath His Stars seamlessly weaves together heartfelt emotion, the most consuming angst, and a connection that you will feel through every single page.

The love story you get within the pages of this magnificent book will give you it all. And I mean that with everything that I have. This story will give you it all. It will give you friendship, romance, angst, a bit of suspense, heartbreak, longing, and all the glorious emotion that you will LOVE. It will give you all the feels, all the southern goodness, and a story that will make you laugh and smile and cry your eyes out in the same breath. Like I said, it will give you it all. And then some.

What Amie Knight so incredibly creates in this book is amazing in every way.

What I loved about Beneath His Stars, and really this entire duet, was that as much as it was about the big things, it was also about the little things. They had equal importance and relevance and impact through every page. In this story it was just as much about a field and a coke bottle, as it was about love and friendship. It was about all the glorious stars in the night sky, just as much as it was about the two distinctive people lying beneath it. It was about two people from two very different worlds, just as much as it was about a girl and boy trying to find their way.

The nuances, the magic between these characters, and both the little and big things are what made this book and this entire story what it is. That is what created what was so special about Adam and Liv and their story. That is what puts this story in a whole different stratosphere than any other book. That is what made this book one of the best books I have ever read and one of my top reads for this entire year.

Amie Knight gave me it all in Beneath His Stars. She really did, and I honestly could not have asked for more. And even though she left me with one helluva cliffhanger, she made it all PERFECT. She made every moment with Adam and Liv mean something. Nothing was too little or small, it all added to the picture. She made this story one of the most beautiful and enrapturing stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. She created a world I NEVER wanted to leave. In fact as I sit here writing this review, all I can think about is how much I want to go back to that world.

I want more Adam and Liv. I want more of their magic. I want more stars in the night sky. I want more Nova and Luna. I want more of them and their hearts connecting and more of the pieces of this thoughtfully crafted world. I want more of it all, and that speaks so much to what Amie Knight so magnificently created in this world and in this book that I still desperately want more of all of that.

It has been many days since I have read Adam and Liv’s story, and I am still just as entranced by them and by it. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them, their love or their journey together, and I haven’t been able to stop feeling what those two gave me as their story unfolded. It was a bit of rollercoaster with more twists and turns than you can shake a stick at, but that is what made it theirs.

When you read this story it will take ahold of your heart and soul with the tightest grip, and it won’t let you go. It still hasn’t let me go, but I love that because it shows the authentic and very real connection this author allows you to have with these characters and everything they share together.

As I sit here writing this review I keep thinking that I want to tell you all the things about what you’ll get in this book with Adam and Liv…but in the same breath I don’t want to tell you much of anything of what you’ll actually get with them because I don’t want to take away from any of the literal amazingness you will get with them. To take away anything from the unforgettable reading experience those two will give you would be a travesty.

It would be so wrong because this book is everything. And more. So much more that I will NEVER forget.

Beneath His Stars is the first part to an epic love story that knows no bounds. It is bursting with feels and emotion and the most tangible level of angst that will hit you so damn hard where it counts. This story is one that you will never want to have end, and trust me when I say that when you reach the end you will be desperate for more Adam and Liv. Their story isn’t easy, and it might just break your heart a bit, but I promise you, it’s so beyond worth it.

Their love is worth it. Their hearts are worth it. Their journey together is worth it. Their heartbreak is worth it.

They are worth it. In every way possible.

Amie Knight has created one of the most exceptional stories I have read in this book, and I am telling you, from the moment you start this book you will love it. You will love it, enjoy it, feel it, and breathe it all, and in the end, you will be damn glad you read this book. Trust me. It will steal your breath, it will make you cry and laugh and feel every emotion under the sun, and that is honestly something you will relish in because this story is one for the record books.

This book is magic. It is the stars. It is the first part of Adam and Liv. It is angst heaven and epic in its nature. And it a book I promise you will love and never forget.

So please, I beg of you, read this book. Read it. Feel it. Live every word. And be prepared to be utterly amazed by its literal exceptionalness.

I promise you have never read or experienced a story quite like this one, and that is just one star in the night sky of what makes this a truly amazing book that will own you in every single way possible.

“I wouldn’t take, I’d give. It was what she deserved. If I took, then I’d want to keep her forever and Livingston Montgomery was not anything I could keep. She was on loan from the universe like my own walking, talking miracle.”

description

Before we get into all the reasons that I loved Beneath His Stars, can we just take a moment to appreciate the absolutely stunning covers that Amie Knight chose for the Stars Duet? **huge sigh**

“He wasn’t just a phase. He wasn’t just anything. How could he be anything when he was everything?”

“Forget setting the world on fire. Liv and I? We were going to burn down the universe.”

Amie Knight’s writing is completely captivating, and I have never loved her words more than I have since reading the Stars duet. Beneath His Stars, the first book in the duet, was a sweet, sexy and heartbreaking journey through a young couple’s doomed romance. Instead of reading reviews, I would tell you to one-click this incredible duet immediately. It’s absolutely worth investing your time into and you’ll thank me when you’re done! In the meantime, this review will not spin a new synopsis for the book and will instead tell you why I loved them so much.

“Close your eyes, Nova.” -- “Why?” -- “Because you can’t dream with your eyes open.” I lifted up on one elbow until my face was right above hers. I could practically taste her sweet breath. “I’m pretty sure I can.”

“My dreams had never compared to a moment I’d spent with her. She was the dream. She was it for me.”

Amie Knight’s books are fantastic. They are very well written with outstanding plots and characters you will love. I always run the gauntlet with my emotions while reading her words. Typically, I prefer romances where the hero and heroine are at least in their mid-twenties (or more). My reason for this is relatively straightforward—I like sexy times in my romance reads. Beneath His Stars brought us a sixteen-year-old heroine and a nineteen-year-old hero and it quickly became the exception to my rule. Just like any other book I’ve had the pleasure of reading by Amie Knight, Beneath His Stars is incredible! 😉 It lacks nothing—Adam and Liv’s romance is every bit as compelling as I have come to expect with Amie Knight. It’s romantic and super sexy regardless of their ages. And the angst is delicious! As with most duets, Amie Knight leaves readers floundering with an epic cliffhanger that made me want to throw my kindle. It also made me extremely happy to be a beta reader who got to read the books back to back! I truly hate cliffhangers, I do. However, sometimes they just work, and Beneath His Stars is one of those times. This duet is beautifully crafted with a YA trope for Beneath His Stars and a second-chance romance for In Her Space. Adam Nova and Livingston Montgomery’s romance was unique and inspired. Though Beneath His Stars shows how easy it was for the pair to fall in love, their relationship had many obstacles. Obviously having told you that Beneath His Stars had a cliffhanger, this is not a standalone and you will need to read both books to see Adam and Liv through to their HEA. But I highly doubt you’ll be able to put down the dual POV romance anyway so just buy them both now and get to reading!!!

“You and I, Liv? We’re just not written in the stars,” I choked out the lie. It left a horrible taste in my mouth. But she had an answer for everything. “Then we’ll rewrite them.”

“Most girl’s first time would be a fumbling mess of hands and teeth and pain. But not mine. No mine would be a night I’d think back on for the rest of my life as one of the most romantic experiences ever. My boy with the tattoos had given me the stars. It made me want to give him the universe.”

-Young Adult
-High school
-Forbidden romance
-Rich girl and poor boy

4 stars!

I really enjoyed this one! A sweet yet intense YA romance between a sweet girl who is lost and lonely, and the boy from the wrong side of the tracks. The first in the Stars Duet, it’s a great beginning for what has the potential to be a truly epic romance!

16 year old Livingston ‘Liv’ Montgomery is living a difficult life. She may be beautiful, smart and wealthy, living in a mansion on the beach in an exclusive island neighbourhood, but in reality she is lonely and sad. Her parents are both dead and she lives with her step-mother who either controls or ignores her and a step-brother with creepy intentions. The only peace she gets is when she escapes each evening to lay in the park and stare at the stars, where she talks to her parents and feels free.

Adam Nova lives one bridge away from Liv on the mainland, but his world could not be more different from hers. Poor and living in a dangerous neighbourhood, he has endured things that have left him broken, and though he is close to his loving father and his best friend, to everybody else he is cold and standoffish. He knows this, and it’s a conscious decision he’s made to never let anybody in, and at this point he doesn’t even know how to.

Liv and Adam meet unexpectedly, but their subsequent encounters are definitely not an accident. Adam sees Liv in the park, he’s immediately entranced and he just can’t stay away, and Liv is captivated by the tattooed bad boy. And their mutual love of the stars and the peace and solace that they find together draws them together even further. They share something special, and as they slowly begin to open up and spend time together, they find themselves falling into dreamy, blissful, all-consuming first love.

“Close your eyes, Nova.” Her words snapped me out of whatever lust-induced daze she’d put me in. Her eyes were still closed, but her lips were smiling.
“Why?” I wanted to watch her. She knew how I liked to watch.
Her grin widened at my question. “Because you can’t dream with your eyes open.”
I lifted up onto one elbow until my face was right above hers. I could practically taste her sweet breath. “I’m pretty sure I can,” I whispered. Because my dreams had never compared to a moment I’d spent with her. She was the dream. She was it for me.

Liv and Adam’s romance is slow and easy, and beautifully sweet. Despite his looks and bad boy persona, Adam has the biggest heart and he’s so incredibly gentle. He knows that Liv is special, and he treats her as such, but he struggles with the differences between them. In return, Liv opens herself completely to him, she gives herself honestly and unreservedly and I loved her boldness and bravery in going after the boy she wants without fear.

“You and I, Liv? We’re just not written in the stars,” I choked out the lie. It left a horrible taste in my mouth.
But she had an answer for everything. “Then we’ll rewrite them.”

Their love is honest and fierce, and they come to mean everything to each other, but not everybody is happy with their relationship. And as they battle cruel stereotypes and controlling social politics, they are faced with losing everything.

This is a great read. It’s a quick one and the story moves at a fast pace, and though initially Liv and Adam’s feelings for each other were developing faster than I could keep up, the more we got to see of them together - their sweet moments and tender touches – I fell right along with them.

“We’re gonna be fine as long as we stick together.” She ran her hands through my hair and I closed my eyes. I fucking melted.
“It’s you and me, Nova. You and me against the world.”

The prologue gives us an idea where the story is going, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the intensity of it all, and that cliffhanger is a bit of a killer! I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

4 stars.
