I loved the first six books of the Field Party series, but this one was just disappointing.

1. The writing style
It was so juvenile and unrealistic. Like they've grown up now. Do people actually talk this way? And why was EVERYTHING left uncontracted? That just made the characters seem even more childish.

2. Baking
EVERY SINGLE mother or grandmother in this book was BAKING. Ezmita's mom, Tallulah's mom, Willa's grandmother, Aurora's grandmother, Brady's mom, and even Ezmita herself. I have nothing against baking, but this seriously isn't what every female parental figure enjoys. Another example of how this book was so unrealistic.

3. Occupation
Why were so many of them, teachers? It made literally ZERO sense. There was no indication of this in the previous books and I feel like that's not what they would have chosen. Asa showed NO inclination toward Spanish in Game Changer and same for Ezmita with history. Nash, I guess I could understand, but still...

4. Nash and Tallulah
WHAT THE ACTUAL HECK WAS THIS???? Their relationship in this book was one of the most toxic things I've ever seen. Nash should have given Tallulah a chance to explain, especially considering what happened with Mr. Dace in Losing the Game. And then they're making out before they even properly discuss all the drama between them? Like, it was just so unhealthy. Nash was so unfair to Tallulah, he made everything seem like her fault when she literally did nothing wrong. In fact, she was a VICTIM in that situation and he was too stupid and impatient to even TRY to listen. Tallulah shoved Charles AWAY when Nash walked in. Shouldn't that have proved to him that she actually didn't want to be kissing him?
Also, did Tallulah's friends actually have such little faith in her? Did they really think she would cheat on Nash and break his heart like that? Rather, they knew Nash's impatient history and should have gotten the story from both sides instead of just blindly supporting him, without considering the fact that Nash had hurt Tallulah in the past much more than she'd hurt him and so he might have actually been the one who was wrong.

5. West's Mom
This was so messed up and I felt so bad for West's mom. I understand that it was probably difficult for him to learn that his mom was married again and she likely could have handled it better, but that doesn't excuse his reaction. His mom still has a right to be happy and it's been YEARS since his dad died. She's not betraying him in any way. West just couldn't deal with the fact that his mom was moving on while he was still stuck in the past.

6. Asa and the girl
Who was the "tall, leggy, gorgeous blonde" who "called out Asa’s name and rushed over to him to throw her arms around his neck and began talking to him as if they were the best of friends."
We never got a proper answer for this and it was left unresolved. Is there another potential love interest in Asa's life? And why didn't Ezmita at least ask him about that mystery woman before they started dating again?

7. West
West was practically STALKING Maggie at one point in the book. He wanted to see her so he tracked her location using an app. Even if Maggie had shared her location with him through the app, West using it was still wrong. She's entitled to her privacy and wasn't in any serious danger, so he had no right to do that. He could have waited for Maggie like a normal person or texted her again if he was so worried. Also, he has serious jealousy issues. When Maggie said she was meeting with an old friend he immediately FREAKED. He could have just asked her who this friend was or WAITED FOR HER TO TELL HIM AFTERWARDS LIKE A NORMAL PERSON. His actions here just show the lack of faith and trust he has in Maggie, even though she's done nothing to earn his suspicion.
Then, at the restaurant, he acted SO possessive and went completely overboard. Like just leave the poor girl alone for a bit. She's a grownup. She can handle herself. The way he stormed in and ORDERD Maggie to get up and leave just didn't sit right with me. And then OF COURSE he HAD to go and say, "Maggie is mine." He could have said "Maggie's my girlfriend" or "Maggie's not unvailable" but NO. He had to go and say she was his. Bro she's not your POSSESSION. She's your girlfriend. All of West's actions throughout this book demonstrate that he doesn't view Maggie as his equal, just a thing to be controlled.

8. Pacing
The way this book moved was so fast it gave me whiplash. West & Maggie and Willa & Gunner got engaged in the span of a week. I think Tallulah and Nash got back together faster than that. As did Ezmita and Asa. Brady's proposal to Riley was so sudden and at their daughter's birthday party. Like, let the kid have the spotlight for a day. There was no tension or pressure at all. Everything was just so quick

Okay I've said enough about what I didn't like, but this book wasn't all bad. I loved seeing Willa, Chance, and Bella's relationship. It was so sweet and heartfelt. I especially loved the fact that Chance is stepping up and taking care of his little sister. That's such a rare portrayal in books, so I feel like it was extremely important here. Also, the bond between the six boys was as strong and unbreakable as ever. It was nice to see more of their relationship. Bryony brightened up the whole book and was probably the light of it. She was written so adorably well that I think she's my favorite character out of them all. Gunner and Willa's relationship was the best and healthiest one out of the six in my eyes. They both support and care for each other in such a great way. Gunner's setting an absolutely FANTASTIC example for his friends. West and Nash should take a hint.

I've barely mentioned Ryker and Aurora throughout this review, but they just didn't fit into any of these categories. They weren't good or bad exactly, they were just there. I found their personalities to be rather bland, so I've never really been invested in what happens to them.

Authors need to stop writing novellas for their couples; just let the stories end when their book does.

I feel like Abbi Glines forgot who all her characters were and instead made all the guys mad at the world and all the girls have no backbone. Point in case: Nash and Tallulah. Nash thought Tallulah cheated and called her a bitch, and where was Tallulah’s backbone? No where to be found. Instead, SHE apologized to HIM.

None of these character felt like themselves. They all felt like caricatures of each other with the exception of Gunner and Willa, who might have been the saving grace of this book.

Where was Ezmita and Asa’s chemistry? Why was West such a caveman in this book? Why didn’t Maggie set West in his place as she would’ve done in the first book? Did Brady really have to propose on Bryony’s birthday (she’s a child give her the day for her to be in spotlight!)? Where was Riley’s personality? Why was Nash still as toxic as he was when he was in high school? What were all the weird comments about Tallulah needing to diet about?

I miss the West and Maggie and Brady and Riley that I fell in love with and who had such a great impact on me when I was in high school. This series should have ended with the first three books, honestly.

A perfect ending to an amazing series. I was a little worried to read this book after I read "Game Changer", but I had nothing to worry about. I fully think this series should be read in order. I would recommend this entire series!

3.75 stelle!

i cannot explain how much i loved this series! my favorite was definitely west and maggie but i’ve read all of the books in the series and they are fantastic. i am so so so excited to see them all reunited and grown up and see where they are all at in life. i hope ezmita and asa have worked out, that brady and riley had grown a beautiful family, that gunner and willa have gotten over their tramas, tallulah and nash have continued their bond, ryker and aurora have gotten past hunters death, and maggie and west are closer then ever,

The perfect ending to a perfect series. I have been reading this series since I was an 8th grader (I am now a freshman in college) and I am extremely sad that it is over. This series has been one of my favorite things through out the years & i always looked forward to a new book. Even though it is over, i have loved every minute of this series!

Asa/Ezmita: This makes me truly nostalgic of this time in life. I met my husband in school but that was not our time, it would’ve been disastrous. This was finally their time.

Nash/Tallulah: Dumb miscommunication crap is not worth of year of pain

West/Maggie: Awwww!!!

Brady/Riley: Double Awww!!

Gunner/Willa: TRIPLE Awwww!!!

Ryker/Aurora: TEARS! But I needed more.

I started this series 6 years ago, how is that possible? Although I didn’t love every single book, I will miss these characters and the nostalgia these stories create.

The Field Party Series has been one of my favorite series by Abbi Glines, but this last book was disappointing. It felt very rushed and instead of getting closure and enjoying everyone’s HEA’s, I was left with many unanswered questions. A couple of storylines were thrown in there so randomly and then never brought up again, which makes me wonder why they were included in the first place. For example, Ezmita sees Asa at her parent’s shop hugging “a tall, leggy, gorgeous blonde” but the woman was never mentioned again and there was no explanation for her appearance in the story. Some parts felt very unrealistic and were hard to enjoy, like the way Nash and Tallulah were already making out before addressing the drama that happened between them. However, as I mentioned before, this series has been a favorite of mine and the first three books are comfort books for me. That is why I’m rating this 2 stars instead of 1. Overall, this series holds a special place in my heart but sadly, I’m dissatisfied with the ending.

This was actually very refreshing I feel like everyone has finally grown up and gotten past stupid things (some at least)

Asa and Ezmita ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“She looked older, like a woman. Not the young girl who had broken my heart.”

This I was excited for and actually yes it was really good everything went by not that fast and not that slow which is how I like it. Asa and Ezmita did have the longest story from everyone and the reason is very obvious. I've been rooting for those two since the start and I am so so happy Asa got his happy ending.

Nash and Tallulah ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

“that’s all I care about. If I can have you, I don’t care about the fucking past. I just want you back. I’m not complete without you, Tallulah.”

I was shook about this but at least it gave good plot drama but thinking about it more its the stupidest thing in the world. Nash never gave Tallulah a chance to speak which he should've because of everything that happened with that teach in their book. In the end I'm glad those two are together again they fit really well and one without the other just doesn't seem right.

West and Maggie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“What I felt for her was bigger than even I could describe. It was more than simply love. There were no words for it, but I’d spend my lifetime showing her what I couldn’t express.”

West and Maggie are the number one couple they're the first to get together which is obvious why they are my favorite but and this is a big but the possessiveness is too much I hated it absolutely hated it what was that? you don't own the girl she's not an object Jealousy's normal and its okay but that's a bit much I feel like I would've enjoyed this more if that part was left in drafts. In the end West and Maggie are still the best and stronger than ever with not one but to big things on their way and I am very happy about that.

Brady and Riley ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Even when the bills were past due, and the kids were all screaming, and I hadn’t gotten her to myself for weeks. I would just want her. Only her. Even if it was the moment I got to hold her in the morning before I left for work. It would just be her.”

I loved this I really really loved this they have such a good thing going on especially with Bryony. One of the complaints I had about their book was I wished I got to see more father-daughter moments with Brady and Bryony and in this epilogue story we got just that and I loved it. The plot was cute their love is still strong I think stronger than ever now. But two complaints which are spoilers are why is Brady's mom getting back with his dad I did not like that and the proposal was cute but also kinda cringe.

Gunner and Willa ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“with you is where I belong. Wherever you are.”

Gunner and Willa got the five star which is weird considering I gave their book a three. But anyway no complaints about this one I feel like I didn't realize how really in love they were and its really really strong and I loved reading that. The story with Willa and her siblings was nice I loved seeing the relationship. In the end I think I'll give their book another shot Gunner always cracks me up and Willa is just simply amazing. Also Stan Willa's grandma

Ryker and Aurora ⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Those fucking stars don’t even compare.”

I feel like I would've enjoyed this more if I actually read their book. But no Ryker and Aurora are really sweet and really cute and the Hunter thing was amazing I loved it sm they fit together from what I see and I do wanna read their book.

The boys & The girls <3

“The days of our youth were behind us. It was such an odd yet exciting feeling.”

The friendship was such a big bonus to the romances the boy's friendship was one itself but the girls was so amazing too it's amazing really amazing to read this high school loves and friendships still sticking five years later even after distance and drama they all stuck.

“I had no doubt in ten years we would all be here. The boys of Lawton High had found their forever. That wasn’t going to change. Even if our lives continued to.”

Y’all… the amount of typos/poor grammar in this book had me so frustrated. Even one of the characters names was spelt wrong for a paragraph 😭.
BUT that being said…. This cheesy and predictable series is my favorite ever. It warms my heart, gives me hope, and cheers me up when I am down. I will always wish I was from Alabama and experienced Friday night lights because of it, and this was the perfect ending to everyone’s stories.

I have been following this series since the beginning and it's crazy to think just how long ago that was. This book was a huge step up from the sixth book in the series but there were still some things that made me scratch my head.

Since this book was set 5 years into the future and now everyone is grown up, I would have liked to have heard more of an adult dialogue coming from the characters. The way they talked now was the same way they talked in high school and obviously there have been a lot of changes since then. All of these men seem to still be very controlling and/or possessive from time to time as well and I wish that would have changed with their age, especially Nash and his anger and drinking problem. I also couldn't understand why everyone's mother or grandmother in the story was always baking. Maybe that's a southern thing that people are welcomed with when they come home to visit when they haven't been there in awhile.

The more I read books and watch tv series, it has become a pet peeve of mine where everyone that grew up in a small town always finds their way back. They talk so much about how the town is their home and even though there's bad memories or no jobs, there's comfort in it and that's why they come back. I can understand that but if their small town is anything like my small town, I don't want to be surrounded by all the gossip and everything in between! I can appreciate that for this story though since the main premise is that everyone's story began with football and the field is what connects everyone together.

Having six little stories within the one big story yet keeping the plots intertwining was really nice. I think it would have been too confusing to write this story any other way. Things seemed a little cliche at times with all the engagements and settling down but it's been 5-7 years for some of these characters and it makes sense that they would all be on the same path. It kind of hit me when some of the characters were happy for those experiencing those big life moments yet they wondered when those things would happen for them and that's something that I've been pondering a lot lately.

In the book's 'epilogue', ending where it all began with West and Maggie was about the best way to end things. Bringing in Brady and Gunner also fit perfectly since the three of them seemed to be the core of the field party series and where everything began. Overall, this book was a great ending to the series and I really don't think it could've gone on any further. Would an actual epilogue of 10 years into the future have been nice to see if that last field party actually happened? Sure, but maybe someone can write that in if this series were to ever to be turned into a tv series.

I’m honestly a little disappointed with this one. I was so excited to see how everything wrapped up, and while it gave closure and tied up the relationships five years later, it just didn’t feel like enough. The last couple of books have felt rushed, almost like an afterthought, which kind of took away from the magic of the series for me. That said, I still love these characters, and overall, it was okay, just not the satisfying ending I was hoping for.

I thought this was a great ending to an amazing series I read these all through high school and bought a new one each time they came out. (I was not a big reader in high school) but I loved these books. It ended so well and I loved how you got everyone’s perspective over everything. So sad to finally end this series after years of reading it.

This was the perfect ending to the series, it tied every single story together. I was disappointed in the 6th book, so I was nervous for this one, but this one did not disappoint. West & Maggie are still 100% my favorite couple. Glines could have wrote 7 books just about their life and I would have read it!

A good way to tie up this series. I love every character. Throughout all the hurt and heartache, the healing and learning, love always won in the end. Selfishly, because I love this story so much of course I wanted more. I can’t say I am ever ready for a good series to end, but being able to get 5 years later and see each person grow from teenage to adulthood was great.

The wrap up for Game Changer is found in the pages of this book, but so is the wrap up for everyone else’s story too. Some I was very invested in, and some less so but still followed because their stories were part of the Game Changer plot. If you like romance, this book is for you. If you liked Game Changer, this is a must read.
