and he’s just like the hero in her story!
Enjoy the delightful cowboy romance from Hallmark

Kaylee Collins, a shy city-dweller, is writing a Western romance—and getting the details wrong. Her editor insists that Kaylee learn more about country life by spending a week at a working ranch. Kaylee reluctantly agrees as long as she can bring Gladys, her slightly overweight Corgi.

To rustle up her courage, Kaylee channels the spirit of the fearless heroine of her story. But she’s shocked when she meets Luke Montgomery—the spitting image of her handsome cowboy hero!

As far as Luke’s concerned, Kaylee’s books are pure fantasy. Love hurts, and he should he lost his wife a few years back. But he finds himself amused, and then enchanted, by this woman who bravely tries new things and whose heart seems to be as big as the Montana sky. Can they both dare to start a new chapter together?

Cowboy Ever After by Jeannie Marts
Contemporary western romance. Hallmark format.
An author is sent to a family ranch in Montana so she can live the real life experiences of working in barns, with horses and cows, fences and small town living.
The meet cute: A goose yell sends her into his arms in alarm.

Carrot cake recipe included at the end of the book.

🎧 I listened to an audiobook Narrate by Virginia Rose. The performance was well done with distinct voices for the hero and heroine. Emotions and occasional sound effects were clear. The best speed for me with recording was between 1.3 and 1.5
Sweet, and adorable. The heroine is innovative and brave.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing.

This is a Clean Cowboy Romance. I found the beginning of this book to be just ok, and it was a little hard to get into the story. Once, I got into the story I fell in love with the characters in this book, and did not want to stop reading. The chicken scene in this book had me laughing so hard, and it was so great. This book was cute and funny. The ending was the normal happy ever after romance ending, but the middle of this book made it well worth the read for me. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Hallmark Publishing) or author (Jennie Marts) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

I loved, loved, LOVED this story!! Kaylee and Luke were so much fun getting to know. I laughed, I cried and I sat on the edge of my seat at a few points. This story hit all my favorite things about reading a small town, sexy cowboy with an HEA in his future.

Thank you NetGalley, Jennie Marts and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC Cowboy Ever After. This is my personal review.
This book was a fresh clean romance that will leave anyone who reads it feeling you have just read a great Hallmark movie.
Kaylee was sent to Montana by her editor to get a new look on life, and this was the thing she needed. She had to get the feel of farm and cowboy life.
Luke was not what Kaylee expected to meet. Luke is a widower and is not looking for someone to fill that void.
The connection between the two is amazing. This is a book that I could read over and over and always feel the same about Kaylee and Luke.

"Cowboy Ever After" is a first time read by Jennie Marts, new author to this reader. The story was bit slow in the beginning and hard to make a connection to the heroine, Kaylee until she comes face-to-face with Luke. Chemistry between the two was there but could have been developed a bit more although this was a clean western romance. Once the pace picked up, I really started to enjoy Kaylee and Luck as characters and their shortcomings...as both characters were not what they each expected one another to be. There were witty scenes that leave you smiling and laughing...especially the "chicken scene".

This was a cute and enjoyable listen that made it hard to put away once the plot picked up. Narration by Virginia Rose was performed very well and not forced with the change of voices between characters. A refreshing clean romance and looking forward to Dean and Marnie's love story.

Kaylee is a romance writer. She writes about cowboys, ranches, farms and horses and all kinds of things but she has never been to a ranch. She googles everything and her writing lacks the realism that she would get if she goes to a farm and experiences these things.

Her editor, Faye, sends her to Luke's (Faye's brothers farm). This way she experiences these things first hand and it will make her writing feel more realistic. Kaylee is an introvert and doesn't get out much. She tries to take Faye's advice and act like her fictional character Sassy.

Love the book and couldn't put it down. I think you will enjoy it too.

Cowboy Ever After was a heartwarming tale that was filled with love, laughter and friendship. If you love small town romances and stories that play out like you're watching a Hallmark movie, you need this book in your life. I desperately need this to be made into a Hallmark movie so I can binge it again and again! Cowboy Ever After was a charming, sweet and delightful romance that landed right on my favorites list!
All she could focus on was the way his fingers had felt as they brushed her cheek and the crystal blue shade of his eyes as he peered down at her. She was caught in his gaze, powerless to move as she drowned in their depths.

Kaylee Collins was an author who lived in Chicago, but needed to perfect some of the smaller details in her cowboy romance stories. When her editor suggested that she go to Montana, to stay with her brother and learn how a ranch works, Kaylee agreed. She embarked on a trip, along with her adorable corgi Gladys who I absolutely loved! Their adventure was filled with an adorable small town, friendly townspeople, farm animals and a sexy cowboy that looked like just like the hero in one of her books!
Kaylee Collins had landed in his life, with her pudgy dog, hot pink cowgirl outfit and a smashed vegetable cake, and he hadn’t been the same since.

I loved Kaylee! She was so relatable and easy to click with. From choosing the wrong clothes, to trying and channel one of her characters for bravery, I absolutely adored her! And from that first goosetastic moment she stepped on Luke's ranch, Kaylee's world started to change. She tried her best to get out of her comfort zone, while helping on a working ranch. And I loved how her time helping or being around the ranch inspired moments in her books! But most of all, I loved that Kaylee was always a joy to be around. Her cheerfulness and happiness was infectious! And before Luke knew it, that broody cowboy started to feel things he hadn't felt in years!
He held the book sideways, and she could see he was already half-way through. “I was just gonna read a couple of pages, but I couldn’t put it down. You’re a great writer, Kaylee.”
“Thank you,” she whispered. “That means a lot.” His words touched something in her.

Luke was a tortured hero I fell hard for! He seemed to keep his head down, work hard, and didn't expect much from a city person coming and staying with him. So I loved that Kaylee shocked him. Her willingness to jump right in and help, while getting her hands dirty, made him pause and look at her. Which he hadn't done with anyone in quite a long time. And as Kaylee got Luke to open up, I loved that he was charming and easy to talk to. He was also kind, thoughtful, protective and extremely sexy! Even if he could be a little clueless when it came to women at times. Luke was a hero that so many people will easily fall for!
The air felt different here. And so did she. Something about being on the ranch was filling an empty place inside her. Maybe a place she didn’t even know was there. Not until she got here and found the missing pieces to fill it with.

While Luke and Kaylee seemed like polar opposites, they both spent so much time alone and loved their dogs Gladys and Cooper with their whole heart and souls. I loved what Gladys and Cooper added to the story; they both easily wiggled their ways into my heart! And as Kaylee spent more time around Luke, I fell hard for him right along with her! He was swoon worthy, sigh inducing and had such a good heart. I loved them working on the ranch together and going to town events. But Luke had his walls up high and Kaylee was only there to research her book, and then would be heading back to the city. Still, neither of them could ignore the tension between them that simmered with electricity!
“All that matters is just you and me, darlin’.”
“Just you and me,” she repeated in a whisper.

Cowboy Ever After was a story-line that captured my heart! Every time I pick up a Jennie Marts book I know that I will be smiling from that first page to the last, and that the story will be filled with so much heart! There were also hidden treasures with Dean, Emma, Bear and so many animals! With laughter, romance, jealousy, friendship and love, this book was everything! If you need a feel good story, definitely look no further then this book!

Thank you Hallmark publishing for the ARC :)

Small town, country, cowboy, author, books,

WOOOAHHH, I have no words. I LOVE small town western romances. Is it because of 14 year old me being obsessed with Travis in Hannah Montana the movie? Absolutely. Kaylee is a author of western romance from Chicago, her books aren't doing as well as they used too. In order to push her to her fullest creative ability, her agent ships her off to a Montana ranch. Of course there is a hot cowboy waiting, recently "widowed". Kayla is your typical city-girl, her attempts at blending in consists of buying the flashiest glitter cowgirl shoes and hat, paired with a neon pink shirt. I had so much fun reading about her encounters with the animals at the farm, and her little corgi!

The author does an amazing job at writing a clean romance that still has you longing for more. The tension, irresistible chemistry, long stolen glances all make up the perfect combination for this romance book.

If you do love western romance, but smut isn't really for you I would recommend this so much! A sweet romance that will knock you off your feet, quite literally if you´re not used to horsebackriding :)))

I listened to the audio version of this Hallmark novel. I enjoyed the narration and felt like the narrator did a good job overall with the story.

Cowboy Ever After was a fish out of water tale that had a nice blend of romance and humor, but also looked into the hearts of these characters to address what their fears were and why those fears were holding them back.

I enjoyed that Kaylee and Luke were genuinely nice people. Kaylee was sometimes afraid to put herself out there and risk making a fool of herself, however, she always ended up giving whatever she tried her all. Luke was a hardworking man who did not really want someone living on his ranch for a week, yet he ended up treating Kaylee with kindness and consideration, even from the beginning.

Watching these two get to know each other and start to have feelings for each other was very sweet and satisfying. I do wish there had been an epilogue to show a bit of their life together in the future, say maybe six months to a year down the road.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

If you are looking for a sweet, clean romance, this is the one for you.
Kaylee Collins is an author that lives almost like a hermit in her Chicago apartment with her corgi Gladys, as her sidekick.
Her latest book/audio, a western, is not coming along. Mostly because Kaylee has never truly experienced ranch life.
When her agent arranges a week at her brother’s ranch, Kaylee is definitely outside her comfort zone but decides that channeling herself as her strong book heroine, is the only way to survive the ranch.
What she never expected was meeting widower rancher Luke Montgomery. Luke is not looking for anyone. He’s been heartbroken before and doesn’t want to take a risk of that happening again.
But somehow feelings develop between them. But what happens when not only Kaylee is due to leave, but also confesses that she’s been playing the of her heroine?
This is a feel good story that reminds you of a Hallmark movie.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley, Dreamscape and Hallmark Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Kaylee is a romance writer from Chicago who writes some popular western romances about Sassy and Duke. Her books keep getting dinged for lack of authenticity. To fix that, her editor send Kaylee to her family's ranch in Montana. Luke runs the ranch and is happy in his small town life - but he is still grieving the death of his wife

Kaylee has been all but hiding in her Chicago condo with her corgi for a while now. She doesn't feel brave or sassy or vivacious at all. So going to Montana is totally outside of her comfort zone. Luke is a sweetheart and really does everything he can to support Kaylee and help her learn about ranch and smalltown life.

For me this was a sweet, clean, camera ready Hallmark movie. It was very predictable - and didn't get too deep into things with the characters. Even the death of Luke's wife is dealt with in a very surface level. The ending conflict for me was just - ok. As much as Kaylee's feelings about herself and lack of bravery and sassiness could have had more emotional impact - the whole thing kind of fell flat.

Its a sweet, funny, easy read by one of my favorites - but it wasn't as wonderful as some of Jennie Marts other books.

I received this as an ARC from NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

Kaylee Collins lives in Chicago and writes romance set in Montana. She uses google to research her books; her agent sends her to Montana to a ranch owned by the agent's brother. Luke Montgomery was not looking forward to hosting Kaylee.
Kaylee decides to channel her book character to get thru experience. Kaylee is learning a lot about Montana and also about Luke.
This is a really great story line and Kaylee seems to bloom around Luke and gain her own self confidence.

Cowboy Ever After is the story Kaylee Collins, a writer who hasn't done quite enough research for her western romance novels, and Luke Montgomery, a rancher who has been out of the dating game for a while. This book provides one of the slowest of slow burns, but in an enjoyable way. Kaylee's character felt real and had just enough quirkiness to be relatable while Luke had multiple layers to his personality. There was a nice balance of humor and seriousness between Kaylee and Luke. If anything, I wish we could have seen more from their personal growth. I wish Luke would have talked about his wife who passed away and his grieving process with Kaylee. I wanted to go just a little more deep with the characters and the timeline felt rushed. This may be my personal taste, but I felt like the characters talked a little too directly for everyday people and there could have been spots where they talked about something a little more indirectly. Overall, this was a wonderful summer read with delightful characters and a fun plot. 3.5/5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

If you are looking for sweet, heartwarming romance then this book is perfect for you. Kaylee, a romance author, is sent by her editor to Montana to experience life on the ranch, something she has been trying to portray in her books, but has failed to do. In her personal life, Kaylee is a city girl, through and through. She is also very much an introvert, happy with routine and uncomfortable with change. Yet, in her books, Kaylee’s heroines are bold, confident extroverts not afraid to try new things or meet new people. Her editor has told her that she needs to experience life on a ranch in order to write about it successfully. Knowing her well, she also told Kaylee to think and do as her character, Sassy, would do.

Luke is the brother of Kaylee’s editor and a widowed rancher. He agrees to his sister’s Idea of hosting her author for a week rather reluctantly. Their first meeting is rather awkward (though hilarious), but surprisingly they find that they seem to have an undeniable connection. Luke finds the city girl to be more than willing to pitch in with the chores and he enjoys her company. Luke is Kaylee’s fictional hero come to life and no matter what he throws at her, or which chores there are to do, she is determined to remember her mantra “ what would Sassy do”. Neither Kaylee or Luke expected a few days together to lead to love and their very own happily ever after, with a few bumps and mishaps along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Marts has fast become another one of the authors I can rely upon for a good tale. Write what you know. Perfect advice for a novice city slicker like Kaylee who writes western romance but has never been out west. Dispatched by her editor to a Montana ranch to gain experience, Kaylee gains so much more.
I loved Luke and the town and the community closeness. I love how Marts describes the fabulous Montana scenery. Some of the best scenes involve critters, both tame and wild.
If you’re looking for a quick cowboy romance, saddle up for Cowboy Ever After.
I adore the cover!

I loved this book, it was such a fun read. I loved how it feel like the author took you behind the scenes of what its like to be a writer and throws a twist in it. I loved Kaylee she was so vulnerable but she also had such a huge heart and could see only the best in those she met. It felt like she only wanted to leave those she met better than she found them. Luke had his guard up almost the whole book but it did not take from the story or him showing who he was as a person. He never really came off like a jerk which I expected he came off more caring and reserved. I liked the friendship between Luke and Dean and I loved Emma she came off like an old soul with a lot of sweet soul and honesty coming out. Overall this was a fun read and I could not put it down. I really can't say much negative about this book other than I was left wanting more. :-) I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I love Hallmark books more than the movies. That being said I would love to see this made into a movie. It has been my favorite of all the Hallmark books Ive read so far. It's such a sweet story. Kaylee steps outside of her comfort zone at the insistence of her agent to learn more about life on a ranch. Luke owns the ranch that Kaylee is visiting and the situations that Kaylee gets herself in are hilarious. I laughed so much while reading this book. If you are looking for a sweet romance with a touch of comedy then this is the book for you. I received an advance copy of this book through NetGalley and the opinions expressed are all mine.

Kaylee Collins writes Western Romance books and is quite successful. She is a city girl through and through, lives in Chicago, so she tends to get some things about farming and western life a bit wrong even though Google is her best friend. Kaylee's editor, Faye Montgomery, thinks Kaylee needs to actually experience farming/ranching to make her stories more authentic. Faye gets Kaylee to agree to spend a week on a farm and sends her to her brother's farm in Wyoming. Instant attraction! The two find themselves having fun getting to know each other. I really enjoyed this storyline and all the fun following Kaylee and Luke to their Happily Ever After. This is a super, sweet Western Romance!

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the audio version of this book. I really enjoyed this fun romance novel. Kaylee is a writing that writes about cowboys and falling in love. Kaylees publisher wants her to get a full on experience of being on a farm.. It just so happens that her publisher grew up on a farm on Montana that her brother is still living on and working the farm. So Kaylee loads up a vehicle and travels with her corgi Gladys to the working farm. Kaylee is smitten with Luke the moment she sets eyes on him. Luke was put off about Kaylee coming and he tries his best to scare Kaylee off. He has her do chores most would shy away from and serve her meals that were less than gourmet. None of it detered Kaylee. They eventually fall in love in a short week.

What you would expect from a cowboy hallmark romance. It was cheesy and very predictable but also a fun, quick read. Would not recommend as the greatest but if looking for a light-hearted novel, then go for it. I loved the middle of the book. The ending was a bit over the top, especially with the bear! But again, I knew it was hallmark…

As much smut as I read, you would think I don't like clean, sweet romances but I love me some Hallmark movies so I had to read this one... even though it was cowboys (which is not a preference of mine).

However, this is everything you love in a Hallmark but you get the bonus of the inner dialogue.

“All that matters is just you and me, darlin’.”

WHEN HE FINALLY CALLS HER DARLIN’ <3

This book was the perfect forced proximity, cowboy, clean, romance novel!! A great way to start off summer!

Kaylee is a published author who is in a bit of a slump. Her editor sends her to a ranch in Montana to gain real experience for her western, romance novels.

Luke is a handsome, hardworking, typical broody cowboy. He is smitten with Kaylee from day one. He is navigating life after loss and the Sassy author who (literally) falls into his life may be just the ticket!

Watching these two become the best of friends before falling in love was so heartwarming. The town of Bartlett, Montana was so charming. It had the perfect small town vibes. I want to go to their town festival!!! The food sounds so delicious! Drew and Emma were loyal, honest, and fun side characters. If Jennie Marts wanted to write a second book in this series about Drew - I would read it in a flash!!

I wish Kaylee had been a little more confident in herself. Discovering herself was a crucial character arc in the novel. However, this arc led to a conflict that did not do it for me. I just rolled my eyes because I knew that Luke would see right through it! That’s why I love a good HEA!!!

“I can hear what your heart is saying just fine.”

Thank you Jennie Marts and Hallmark Publishing for the ARC via NetGalley! Keep me in mind for Drew’s story!!

This was a cute and clean story that was enjoyable. Kaylee is an author of western books, but she knows absolutely nothing about how a ranch really operates. Those that are close to ranching can tell her details are off in her normal book descriptions. Her editor grew up on a Montana ranch and tells Kaylee that she has to spend one week on a ranch with the editor's brother in order to make her book descriptions more accurate.

Luke, the widowed rancher and the editor's brother, isn't happy about having to babysit an author for a week - he has too many things to do and he just assumes the city slicker author will slow him down and turn up her nose at all he has to do. So he plans to make it miserable for her - he serves her beanie weenies, a fried bologna sandwich, etc. But she enjoys those things and tends to bring a smile to all she does - he can't figure it out.

As the week goes by, Luke realizes he has been lonely and living a life of isolation since he wife died five years ago. He is actually enjoying Kaylee's company, but will she be willing to give up her big city life for the small Montana ranch life instead?

I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.

I truly adored reading this book.
It's a well-written & heartwarming
romance. Great characters &
storyline that will hook you from
the very first page.
Packed with small town charm.
Kaylee, is an author, going through
writers block. Her books are
missing the true experience that is
needed for her stories.
It was suggested to travel to Montana
to find it.
There she meets Luke.
He is everything you dream
about a Cowboy being.
I really enjoyed it and recommend
it to everyone!!

This was such a lovely, clean romance! The characters, Luke and Kaylee, were fun characters. Kaylee was a bit "girly" and out of touch with what she was writing. As an author of western romance, she had a false sense of ranch lifestyle. But, I suppose that is where Luke comes in! This was a Hallmarkish read, with great characters, humor, setting, and storyline. I have read other books by Jennie Marts, and like the others, this gave me a feel-good feeling and warmed my heart.

I would certainly recommend this audio and story! 4.25 stars

We meet Kaylee, an author of romance novels set in ranch life. The only problem is that she Googles all her details from the comfort of her city apartment and has never set foot on a ranch. Her editor comes to the rescue by sending Kaylee to her brother's farm to get those details right. Kaylee must channel her heroine in her books to get out of her comfort zone and take on these challenges so that the publishers would want to add to her series. When she meets Luke, he is the epitome of the hero of her books. As they get to know each other better, her popularity with her fans and his reluctance of getting closer to anyone since his wife's death gets in their way. Will they have the courage to get past their fears or will it ultimately destroy whatever they started?

I found this to be a very delightful book. Take a city gal and put her on a ranch to experience all the dirty, smelly jobs and come in close contact with large and small animals you do not see in the big city. I can identify with Kaylee, the main female character, since I would be exactly like her.

Add a handsome, rugged, kind-hearted cowboy, Luke, and the plot becomes very interesting. Art becomes life, as Kaylee, who is a romance author, that writes stories about ranch life in her books, and has never been on a ranch, definitely is falling for the cowboy, just like the heroine does in her books!

I enjoyed this story so much! It is well written, with great human characters and two precious dogs that add laughs and cuddles to this story. This is a clean, sweet romance, and I think all Hallmark movie fans will definitely love this story. I hope Hallmark makes it into a TV movie! I also want to add that I adore this beautiful book cover.

A huge thank you Hallmark Publishing and NetGalley for giving me the immense pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
