Stand-Alone Bully Stepbrother Romance!

The heroine: Harper Sloane - she grew up taking care of herself and moving from place to place whenever her mother started dating someone new. The last place she’d lived was a trailer park. Since her mother got married she has lived with the Dearth’s and is now part of what she considers a perfect family, which includes step-sister Rosie and step-brother Jude.
The Hero(es): Jude Dearth - he grew up caring for his little sister Rosie after his mother died. His father couldn’t be bothered to handle Rosie, who is mentally challenged and prone to tantrums. Jude and Rosie are also well accustomed to corporal punishments with a belt at the hand of their father and tiptoe around him in order to avoid his wrath.
The Story: Not long after moving into the Dearth household, Harper begins to have racy dreams that include Jude and she daily hopes they will go away. Jude starts to feel similar toward Harper after finding her in a compromising position one day, though he hates it since he sees her as pretentious and stuck up.
Harper is a loner though Jude thinks of her as a snob and even his football teammates see her as an “ice queen”. What they don’t know is that she has no friends and has moved from place to place so many times that she no longer bothers trying to make friends. I find it funny that though they consider her trailer trash and figure that makes her a slut, they still consider her a snobby ice queen. It seems a bit incongruous to me.
Harper’s only friend has been Alcohol since she first tried it when one of her mother’s boyfriends left a bottle and she got tipsy for the first time. She uses alcohol to forget and to sleep and even to get through the day. Jude is also a loner, though he is a successful quarterback at Cinderhart High. He is too somber and sober for most of the students to hang out with. He also has a bit of a problem with anger.
Jude and Harper end up in a battle of wills as each tries to one-up each other in bid to make the other miserable. Their games get dangerous and outright cruel, but I liked the give and take between them and the fact that it wasn’t always the guy getting the best of the girl like in some books. Though as their games more hateful, it feels like neither of them comes out a winner.
I genuinely liked both Jude and Harper, aside from Harper’s alcoholic tendencies, so I didn’t really like to see either of them becoming so mean that they hurt each other like they did. But then the book takes a turn that I didn’t expect and I really ended up loving where it went from there.

A bully in the family!
I liked this book which was a bully/stepbrother romance with a few other twists thrown in the mix. There were a few things about this book that were a bit unbelievable so those few things I could have done without but overall I liked the book and I liked the romance between the two main characters.
This book was about a girl named Candy who comes from less than middle class upbringing where her Mother seemed to go from man to man and most of them were not great people to be around. So when her Mom married Wayne Bale, Candy was immediately taken with her new stepfather. He looked like a movie star, he was smart, sophisticated and he seemed to love her mother. Candy actually developed a bit of a crush on Wayne at first.
Wayne’s son Josiah was a year or two older than Candy and immediately hated her and her mother. Everything changed after his father married her mother. Prior to that they had a good family life. His father attended all his football games and they would talk strategy at dinner. Wayne would pay attention to his ten year old mentally handicapped daughter Emma and watch her while she swam in the pool.
However, Josiah sees that now Wayne seems to only spend time playing chess at night with Candy while his new wife Diana got drunk and passed out and he ignores Emma and has no time for Josiah’s football games. Josiah resents Candy and how she fawns all over his father. It doesn’t help matters that Josiah has been having fantasies about Candy when he is alone and can’t stop thinking about her.
To make matters worse, the guys on Josiah’s football team start noticing Candy and despite the fact that Josiah tells her to stay away from them, she sneaks out to a party. He ends up having to rescue her when he gets a call from a buddy that she is in trouble. Josiah gets back at Candy but it backfires and they both end up at a boarding school type camp for troubled kids.
I like the fact that Josiah is bullying Candy because he likes her. He is almost like a kid in kindergarten that is pulling on her braids or something. But he ends up being sweet to her when you least expect it. There are some bad things that happen as well in the book and this is one of the problems I have with the book.
I don’t want to give too much away, though it is like these bad things happen, but in the end they are not as bad as they should be. That just didn’t make sense to me, because in the real world they would have been as bad as all get out. Candy couldn’t have come through those situations as unscathed as she did. Not that she was completely unscathed. But if you read the book, I think you’ll know what I mean.
Other than that, I think the book was awesome. I liked the mystery, the family secrets, the romance between Josiah and Candy and the steamy scenes were extremely hot! I loved that the book was a stand-alone I wish there were more bully stand-alone books like this. Definitely it was a solid four stars.

This one is dark and depraved. I think that the beginning of this book is a bit disjointed. Like it feels like I was playing catch up for some reason, BUT by 35% I had things figured out and it was a good flow until the end. It’s bully in a way. Taboo in some ways. It’s full of extremely triggering content. I will elaborate in DM if anyone is concerned, but just know this one has 0 rules.

I normally would feel sympathy for a heroine like Candy here. But after reading a few chapters, I still had none. It's one thing to grow up abused, but it's another thing to NOT learn anything. And this Candy, is as stupid as her name, because she simply didn't learn anything. She kept doing the same mistakes. She rebelled just because she could. And you mean to tell me that she's 'funky' enough to know how to rebel, but not actually grow up and learn to defend herself? So she only cared about being cool huh.
I thought I was a very supportive person, you know, I always said victims never ask to be one. But man, reading about Candy just made me rolled my eyes so hard. Sure, she didn't deserve it, she didn't ask for it, but she also knew the risks beforehand yet she's doing it anyway. It's like she's purposely throwing caution to the wind. Or she simply didn't care that much anyway. I mean, I would be hella concerned if I found my body bruised all over, but she didn't even care enough to ponder what caused it, blamed alcohol, and then she thought nothing about it afterward. She's like, nah I'll just use my brain to find out how to sneak out of the house.
Man, I sure hope we all lived in the perfect world inside her head when she'd be fine doing anything she wanted without bad guys. But the thing is, she actually lived in hell, she knew what it felt to get abused. So it's even more baffling to me that when she's finally using her last functioning brain cell, instead of using it to really looking into her situation, she's using it to sneak out to a booze party with a boy she didn't even trust. Like, what! Why!
I kept waiting and waiting for her to learn something, but every new chapter was just proofs that she didn't have any brain. Oh, my favorite was when she didn't even know what she's supposed to do seeing her little stepsister getting drown in a pool. I was with the stepbrother then, WTF????? And afterward, she wanted to apologize but instead of apologizing to the sister, she went to the brother. Again, ??????
Does this review have a limit of how many times I'm allowed to say stupid? I hope not. Because Candy is not naive, she is stupid. Stupid heroine. She creates a new level of stupid.
I do hope she finally learned something though, noone deserves to get abused like that, but I simply didn't care enough to continue reading after she's getting high or drunk (again) at the party. Whatever.

Hate You was a messed up story with step siblings Jude and Harper. They were thrown together in an impossible situation. Both of them having their secrets and hidden pasts, angry at each other for their being stuck with one another.

I absolutely hated this book because of what the hero did to the heroine. And he didn't seem remorseful and our heroine reacted normally but also not? She runs away afterwards and drinks a lot only to be found and brought home. Her mom is also crazy. TW: revenge porn.

WTH?
Let me start by saying that I can do dark, and bully romances all day long. That’s isn’t my problem here. My problem is this book makes no sense at all and seems to do things for shock value rather than having a good plot. To start off... This book consists of a teenaged girl getting raped over and over again by everyone in the book including the hero. He is analy raping her when she has flashbacks of his father raping her, he ignores her cries to stop and that she isn’t into it. Then suddenly she is ignoring what he just did and explaining what happened with his father. She was also gang raped at a party where the H comes to get her but was too late. Late she makes several references to still having her innocence and being a virgin. Even after she remembers what the stepfather did. Eventually the stepfather rapes her again and she says something about him taking her innocence. None of it makes sense. It honestly seems like the author wanted to jump in on the popularity of “bully” books, but just completely lacks the finesse to write a good story. It’s basically a bunch of bad stuff happening to her, a little bullying mixed in, gratuitous things that don’t make sense or add to the plot, several people die, the end. There is a fine line when writing those books, if you cross it your story becomes a disaster. This author didn’t just cross it, they hopscotched back and forth across it (and not in a good way). I don’t even know what else to say. This was that bad. It would have been a DNF, but honestly I thought I was missing something. That or the main character had split personalities that would be revealed at the end. Just something to make this mess make sense. But nope, it just kept getting worse and worse.

This is a great mixture of dark, taboo bully romance. Josiah and Candy are on different ends of the spectrum when there parents get married, she’s elated him not so much. These two together were like explosive at times and then pure hatred at others. I enjoyed Josiah but felt so bad for Candy, she really was beyond naive and needed protection from the big bad wolf even if she didn’t realize who the wolves were.

Is this the 3rd time she wrote this?
I usually love Logan Fox's work, but I'm confused by this book. She had Wicked Din and then turned it into Hating You. I like Wicked Sin the best. I don't understand why she replaced a really good book with this.

This book was all over the place. The MCs are 18 and have to ask permission to swim at night!?! Also, the MCs parents didn't get married until the MCs were 18 and they call the parents mom and dad. I don't know anyone that starts off calling a man dad at the age of 18. I would understand
If they had been together a long time but after a couple of weeks. The main thing that bugged me was they did anal (not even 100% on that, described as anal) before he took took her virginity. Usually anal comes later ina relationship. Just a very odd story. It was all over the place. I hope she releases Wicked Sin again.

there was so much more to this story than I expected. it’s a super intense story filled with lots of twists and turns.
there was some parts I feel got brushed over too quickly… I feel that there could’ve been more character development for Jude & Harper and I still have lots of questions that are obviously going to go unanswered. I didn’t love this as much as I thought I would but it’s still a good read.

One of the more creative storyline lines I've come across in a book, particularly involving younger adults. In this tale, both the hero and heroine are damaged characters soothing their brokenness through either unhealthy activities or avoidance, and ultimately each other. The hero had a penchant for domination and the heroine had a nature of submission, and in the end, they were inescapably drawn to each other, initially he more than she.
This was more a dark, taboo romance, than bully romance with an undercurrent of foreboding, hints at something more sinister occurring that had yet to be revealed. The story was compelling. I was very much drawn into what was happening and what surprise, what disturbance was going to be visited upon the characters, and their path to a happy ending.
Unfortunately, the story was inexplicably long; it progressed at an exceedingly slow pace where nothing really happened, consecutive daily events. These daily, almost mundane events did not really add to the story, until the next, random great reveal was interspersed to entice me. In the end, though the book was not holding my attention, but I mustered through to an emotional, captivating end. (albeit long epilogue.)
I did not care for the heroine; even though a broken character, she was selfish, self-destructive, even dismissive of others displaying little to no empathy for those in unfavorable circumstances (like the little sister). Despite reconciling reasons for her behavior, especially as I arrived to the end of the book, they still weren't enough to overcome an antipathy generated toward her. In truth, the only worthwhile character and one whom I liked was the hero. There was a general lack of chemistry between the characters, virtually no sexual tension from the heroine. Not sure how she arrived to loving the hero other than in his protecting her and their being survivors. Once again demonstrating her selfishness.

A lot of time spent on the day to day amid unchanged, sorrowful activity for long periods that stretched into monotony. Add that to an unlikeable heroine, and I did not enjoy the story as much as I would have liked.

One of the more creative storyline lines I've come across in a book, particularly involving younger adults. In this tale, both the hero and heroine are damaged characters soothing their brokenness through either unhealthy activities or avoidance, and ultimately each other. The hero had a penchant for domination and the heroine had a nature of submission, and in the end, they were inescapably drawn to each other, initially he more than she.
This was more a dark, taboo romance, than bully romance with an undercurrent of foreboding, hints at something more sinister occurring that had yet to be revealed. The story was compelling. I was very much drawn into what was happening and what surprise, what disturbance was going to be visited upon the characters, and their path to a happy ending.
Unfortunately, the story was inexplicably long; it progressed at an exceedingly slow pace where nothing really happened, consecutive daily events. These daily, almost mundane events did not really add to the story, until the next, random great reveal was interspersed to entice me. In the end, though the book was not holding my attention, but I mustered through to an emotional, captivating end. (albeit long epilogue.)
I did not care for the heroine; even though a broken character, she was selfish, self-destructive, even dismissive of others displaying little to no empathy for those in unfavorable circumstances (like the little sister). Despite reconciling reasons for her behavior, especially as I arrived to the end of the book, they still weren't enough to overcome an antipathy generated toward her. In truth, the only worthwhile character and one whom I liked was the hero. There was a general lack of chemistry between the characters, virtually no sexual tension from the heroine. Not sure how she arrived to loving the hero other than in his protecting her and their being survivors. Once again demonstrating her selfishness.

3.5 ⭐️. This book was kinda weird. Not really a bully book imo.
We are dropped into the book with the main characters having met already. The beginning of the story was kinda boring with Jude trying to get his new step-sister Harper who is a teenage alcoholic to stop drinking. She doesn’t want his help and does something really nasty to him. He retaliates and does something really bad to her.
When the awful self absorbed parents (especially the mother) force them into a camp for disturbed youth after Jude and Harper get expelled from school. Jude suddenly realizes they need help and Harper goes along with it. They are model citizens while suddenly together and sneaking around. This part of the story was super rushed.
The epilogue where they both ended up accepted at Cinderhart Academy was just brushed over too. How exactly was he accepted - did he get his scholarship back and how? Sean’s father got Harper in with bad grades - how? We’re there any repercussions for Sean?
I also felt there should have been a reckoning with the parents.

I never truly connected with the characters. Candy was too fucked up. I have a hard time relating to characters that are addicts. Josiah was an asshole but not in a good way. Candy and Josiah went from hating each other to liking each other quickly. Many aspects of the plot were very predictable. It wasn't hard at all to figure out the cause of Candy's trouble. All of the other stuff going on with Wayne was unnecessary drama that wasn't needed. There was already enough crazy shit going on. It was okay. Although it was dark, it was only mildly dark.

The story is a hot mess. I've read crazy stories before but for some reason this one is just super duper crazy. Unfortunately, the author hit one of my pet peeves with this one. It's the every male (and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE) that runs into the the main h instantly falls into a lust-obsession-rapey-crazed hypnotized state around her. I lost count after 4 real abusers and 3 potential ones.

I'd probably have to rate this one a 3.5 instead of a solid 4. The first half was a 3, the last half a 4 - I stayed up way too late finishing the book since I wanted to see how this was going to end more than I wanted to sleep. I'm a big Logan Fox fan, so I always jump to read her books. But this was my first YA bully romance and even though I tend to avoid books where the main characters are teens or very young, I figured it wouldn't hurt to read this one since I know Logan will always blow my mind with the dark plot. Even though the characters are young, I certainly don't think the content is suitable for teens - there are A LOT of triggers. Some parts even made me uncomfortable since I knew Candy's age and I'm usually fine with anything.
The taboo wasn't an issue and didn't seem too outrageous. Candy's mother is newly married to Josiah's father, making him her stepbrother. He's a little older than Candy, but they're still both in high school. Jos hates Candy, yet he finds her attractive and lusts after her. He's mean to her and doesn't stick up for her when he knows she's telling the truth. Instead, he lets his dad think the worse of Candy when things go bad. After that, they both end up at a reforming school.
Fast forward and some really bad stuff happens, but in the end, they'll get their HEA. I won't go into all that happens...it's dark and depraved, but in totally Logan Fox style, expected. With such a dysfunctional family, nothing was that surprising to me.
I liked Josiah. Sure, he was pretty mean in the beginning and his mind was messed up at times, but he was a fighter and deep down he wasn't afraid to stand up for what was right. Now Candy was another story. She was an alcoholic (as a teen) and seemed to always be getting herself into bad situations. She was just very messed up. She does redeem herself in the end, but it's hard to see Candy becoming that young woman after all that happened the year before.
The book starts off with them at the school and this is the part that I didn't like as much. The book went back and forth: from the boarding school, to the past, then back to boarding school, so it left me confused and trying to remember what happened in the beginning and where that all fit in the timeline. I think this one may have been better written if it had just kept with chronological order, but maybe that's just me. It just made the story a bit unconnected. It wasn't bad, just too much to keep up with given all that was going on.
Overall, a pretty decent read. The YA Bully genre is certainly not my favorite since I find it hard to relate to anything related to a teen, but Ms. Fox is great at keeping my attention and I'd read anything she wrote.

WICKED as SIN!
Oh my Goodness. How to best describe this vile disgusting TWISTED FANTASTIC read. Shocking, chilling, brutal and fricken fantastic as helll. It's intense, emotionally charged with creepy chills and warm yummy tingles all wrapped into one sweet arse read that once I started it consumed me. I felt the loneliness and over whelming fear and was overcome with grief and sadness. The chemistry was hot and cold and dripping with taboo eye popping heat. A monster of a read that when it's good it's good but holy helll when it's bad it takes everything to keep reading and get to the very satisfying end. A sinfully twisted taboo read that I highly recommend but caution beware if you haven't read a Logan Fox story before than be advised it has triggers and is a dark themed story to which I absolutely love and will probably read it again.

Josiah and Candy’s story is intense, with loads of twists and turns and lots of emotion. The characters have lots of depth and they really draw you into the story. The chemistry is off the charts hot and takes you on quite the roller coaster ride. I loved it.

This book may not be everyone’s cup of tea because it does have triggers that some might find disturbing, but the author does warn us before we dive in. That being said, if you like dark romances that have some twists and seriously dark moments then you will love this book. This book seriously messed with my head from start to finish, at some moments I was like ok this is a simple bully romance but then some things would be said or happen and I just knew in my gut that something wasn’t right. The hero, Jo seems to hate his new stepfamily especially Candy since she has grabbed his dad’s attention and now Jo and his sister are put on the back burner. Candy has lived a rough life, with a mother that has had issues and boyfriends galore, so she tries to adapt as best as she can to her new situation, but we just know something is up. Not to give too much away, but this story takes you on a ride that one moment I was angry at Candy for being so naive and the next I felt bad for her. The same goes for Jo, one second, I was this guy needs to chill but the next my heart wanted Jo to find his happy even if he thought he was sick in the head. The twists and turns in this book had my head spinning I would think one thing was happening then the next something would be said or done, and I was like wait what?! It was a crazy mind trip and like I said has some serious triggers, but I was happy with the ending and that epilogue. So, don’t read if you can’t handle serious darkness but if you can definitely give it a go. This author keeps surprising me with each book, and I love it.

This books a trainwreck and it’s suppose to be a dark romance, but that’s ok, it’s the reason why I picked it. I happen to enjoy dark, gritty romance novels, as long as there’s no cheating.🤷🏻♀️
The problem is all the dark parts are fade to black, off paper, and vaguely hinted at, so I’m not even sure if it actually happened, so what’s even the point of reading a dark book😂.
Soapy reads are ok at times, but this book is just a big mess with no real direction.

Harper is destructive and suffering from alcohol addiction. Jude is suffering with anger management issues. Let battle commence as these two lock horns in a battle of wills, where they engage in cruel, dark and dangerous games as they try to outwit each other and the games played lead to dire consequences.
The book is intense with dark themes and triggers exactly what you'd expect from the Queen of bully romances. A great addition to the Cinderhart range, although not as dark as Serpents/Savages.

HOT TWISTED BULLY!
A Dark Taboo read with shocking twists disturbing drama that is filled with hate, angst, betrayal, drugs and melt your kindle sizzling hot chemistry. Emotions are high as tension radiates through the pages and definitely pulls at the heartstrings. A bully the bully story that ends n one helll of a karma bite in the asss that kept me on edge filled with frustration and anxiety. Its fun, enjoyable, exciting, intense with head turning twisted drama that plays on all your emotions and heat filled senses that is flipping fantastic and easy to hate but gets all my love with five shiny stars.

Josiah and Candy's story will take the reader on a deliciously dark and twisted path that creates for a read that will leave you on the edge of your seat. The author did a great job giving the back story and then takes the reader on some crazy twists and turns all while being a taboo read. I found the pace to be a little slow in the beginning but once I was hooked in there was no stopping the page turning and the need to know more.

Do not take this as a reason not to read because the author is fantastic it’s just my personal preference xx

Harper and Judes story is one of my favorite genres and I really enjoyed it. I love a good bully/step sibling story. These two are so combustible that it was hard to put this down
