This book is enjoyable for Star Wars fans of any age.
Each chapter is a location on Tatooine, and within that location key events from the books, comics, movies and TV, up through the Mandalorian, that happened there are discussed. Locations include the Lars Homestead, Mos Eisley, Jabba's Sail Barge and many more.
Most of what was talked about I knew, but I did learn a few interesting facts. Like how Beru always wanted to open a restaurant, or how Darth Vader came to Jabba looking to buy parts for ships.
The illustrations were wonderful. Each chapter was a two page spread with a broad picture of the location. Then there was the detail, then lots of small boxes with text underneath describing the key events. It was a great setup, you moved through the text easily. The pictures were vibrant, colorful and detailed.
Riley Silverman’s Exploring Tatooine: An Illustrated Guide is fun and would be great for any family Star Wars library. The colors and illustrations are bright and engaging with text that gives enough information to prompt memories and prick my interest. The book is organized by location so you get layers of story overlapping in many places. I’m not the fanniest of fans, but this let me engage in 46 years of world building without becoming overwhelmed.
I’ve had a lot of fun flipping through it and I’ll revisit it again when I finally watch The Mandalorian. I’m also very pleased that my copy has been signed by the author.
A large, gorgeous book fully illustrated with well-written descriptions of all things Star Wars Tatooine. From the landscape to homes to vehicles and the people of Tatooine, everything is described clearly. Great book for a Star Wars fan young and old.
The book is so well illustrated and beautiful. I went through it quickly many time then decided to donate it to the library here so other people could enjoy it.
EXPLORING TATOOINE: AN ILLUSTRATED GUIDE, from @insighteditions and @starwars, is a fun, all-ages guide to Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s homeworld. Covering the numerous locations and many events that have happened on such an apparently out the way planet in a simplified manner, along with great, illustrated pages.
This book is great for kids, but adults will appreciate it too as a fun refresher of the many Star Wars scenes that have happened on Tatooine. I’m hoping we get some more guides like this in the future covering other Star Wars planets.
