Bring joy into your home using playful patterns, bold prints and vivid colors with Emily Henson’s Be Bold with Color and Pattern .
“Everything in Life Unstyled is achievable but still totally inspiring. It’s a gorgeous book, the sort that belongs on your coffee table for flicking through again and again.” Praise for Emily Henson's previous book from Abigail Ahern
Interiors trends for 2022 include strong, saturated color and eye-catching patterns. Fresh greens, uplifting pinks and moody blues are in vogue and statement wallpapers are the next big thing, while trend forecasters predict that retro patterns such as polka dots are making a comeback. In Be Bold with Color and Pattern , Emily embraces this individual, free-spirited look and shows how to translate it to any home.
This book does what most similar design books do - show you pictures of rooms and comment on how they are decorated. I like decorating books because I get this voyeuristic pleasure from seeing the inside of other people’s houses.
In this book, the rooms are either painted in rich, saturated colours or are papered with dramatic designs, and then have eclectic furnishings. I guess you could copy the paint colour ideas, but it would be hard to duplicate the unique furnishings and wallpapers, if you were trying to use one of these photos as inspiration for your own home.
Lots of neat designs that are bold but still something you can see real people living with. They’re not strictly show or art pieces and they’re not all maximalist, some are actually pretty minimalist. There are several of the same rooms from different angles too. Ot shows how a bold wallpaper or print can be utilized as a statement or even just a strong color choice.
Maximum 3 stars for this book that I'm sorry I bought online. For a book that speaks about being bold with colour and patterns, it's really boring by being repetitive. The author takes 10 homes, some of designers, and shows them over and over again. I like some of the design elements and choices, but other homes seem dark and depressive despite the strong colours.

This book had a handful of excellent, colorful, maximalist houses, and it delivered what it promised. I liked it! This is for the sort of person who likes teal and gold and is not opposed to velvet.
