Xira is the smartest cimpanzee in an animal testing facility named Soror Laboratories. Her brain was improved by implants that ultimately allowed her to communicate with the scientists using sign language. What they don't know is that she can speak to the point she can manipulate grown men. During a normal evening she picks up her offspring and flees the facility. On the way she kills a guard and steals a suit designed to be used in high gravity environments which make her effectively unstoppable.

She is jot the only monkey with a suit. A madrill attacks her wearing similar armor. After putting out Xira's eye, it attacks her offspring. Xira goes berserk and rips off the madrill's head. Thankfully, both Xira and the infant survive. Even better. The fight between the animals goes viral online. It creates awareness of the atrocities commited during animal testing and establishes a body to regulate or even ban them. Effectively, Xira has won in the end.

A hyper intelligent Chimpanzee steals a mech suit. Warning, very sad.


What elevates this book are the details. The moment were Xira nonviolently disarms the guard. The range of expressions on the chimps. The dedication to making them chimps and not humans shaped like chimps.
It is mostly a monkey ripping things apart in a mech suit tho.
