The Pray in the Abyss arc is over... but not really? The ending immediately bleeds into what I suppose is the next arc, and to be honest, I am exhausted. This series has become so plot heavy with the gang related shit that the romance has completely taken a back seat. And yes, I know that's how the creator wants it, and the story isn't lacking in excitement... I'm just... okay, so I binged the series so maybe that's the problem, but a little fluff after all that drama would have been nice. 4 stars
WHAT A WAY TO END THIS VOLUME AND I DON'T MEAN THE CUTEST SIDE STORY EVER! I'd noticed for a while now that the story was slowly turning into a very plot-heavy series and there is soooo much that's happening in this volume and so much time spans that I feel like I'm still reeling. There were many moments when my heart stopped and just, THAT CLIFFHANGER. I can't believe I am being tortured like this!
And the bonus stories ... Omg.... Pumpkin pudding was hilarious with some throwback moments. And the deluxe edition bonus story has the most amazing Asami expressions.
OMG! 😱 There is a major cliffhanger and who knows how long it will be before book 12! I can’t believe what I read; to the point that I read the end a second time and then a third time! Overall though it’s a fun smutty series! 😱😊
This is the first time I write a public book review. I cannot remain silent about the many aspects of this series that are problematic. The Finder series by Ayano Yamane fails on two glaring points - the accepting attitude toward sexual harassment and the absence of good taste in the portrayal of romantic relationships.
First, it is deeply disturbing that rape, sexual harassment, mind games, and non-consensual relationships are cast in a rosy light in this series. Indeed, the (repeated) raping of Takaba by Asami serves as the beginning sequence to their story. As someone introduced to this manga genre by The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heartstopper, this was a heartbreaking surprise. Sexual violence and abuse is never acceptable, even when packaged beneath intricately detailed art and characters with beautiful looks. Please believe me that being harassed is not at all romantic or fun in the way the author conveys. No matter how hot and good-looking the perpetrator is, they have still declared that you are someone they can trample over with impunity. I find Asami repulsive and completely unattractive. As Takaba is clearly hopeless, I kept reading in hopes that Fei Long would one day restore ownership of his brain, realize Asami is not worth anyone’s attention, redeem himself from later wrongdoings due to his inexplicable obsession with Asami, and stand up to or ignore him instead. When Asami inappropriately touched Fei Long’s hair in a suggestive way when they first met, I wished so much that, instead of becoming all moony-eyed, Fei Long would turn around and give his face a good solid punch for thinking he could just go around and lay his paws on anybody anytime. Alas, that hope was dashed by this volume. Hence I will stop reading.
Another major failure of this series is the complete lack of taste in the construction of the romance lines, in my opinion a significant blow to books in the romance genre. Almost any two male characters can be thrown together on a seemingly random basis. I also find the excessive explicitness highly irritating as they do not contribute anything to the emotional intensity and depth of the story. Even between the lead characters Takaba and Asami, there is very little real chemistry. If the author aims to produce pornography, it should be marketed as such.
I do not recommend anyone to read the Finder series by Ayano Yamane due to its portrayal of sexual harassment as romantic and the complete lack of substance in the romance lines. These books show little to no support for the LGBT community as I doubt they reflect how real gay people live and love. The characters strike me as diffident people wandering through life aimlessly, flopping and thrashing about and never having the courage to find out what truly ails them inside. I cannot help but wonder, Ms. Yamane, is this truly how you want your characters to live their lives?
This volume truly takes readers To the Edge. At the end of V10, Asami and Akihito, Feil Long and Mikhail, and the Russian rebels are all sent message by Sudo to come to a warehouse holding the missing shipment. The stage is set to finish it all.
This volume is mostly a knock down, drag out fight amongst the players. Bullets fly while Mikhail goes head to head with Yuri, and Fei Long and Asami dodge and kill his mercenaries. Akihito can no longer wait on the sidelines; he rushes in to find and help Asami. But will they make it out this time? This volume was very exciting, with all the players converged on the warehouse. Fei Long and Asami must work together to stop the Russian rebels.
While the cliffhanger ending is absolutely killing me (ah! I hate waiting!), there is so much awesome in this volume. I love the new romance developing between Fei Long and Mikhail; it was so satisfying to see our main couple finally express their feelings to each other; and, the tease of finally learning Asami’s past (he has a brother!?!) is so exhilarating. The two closing stories are two of my favorite Finder side stories. In the first, Akihito accuses Asami of stealing his pudding and when he denies it, Akihito turns to Fei Long to drink away his woes. Asami comes to retrieve his wayward lover, and Akihito will have s steep, bondage-heavy price to pay for running away to Fei Long! The deluxe edition bonus story is a sweet tale of Akihito’s efforts to celebrate Asami’s birthday. This volume has left me yearning for more.
I've been waiting over a year for this one and it doesn't disappoint. This volume wraps up the Abyss story arc - but not the whole series and holy crap what a cliff hanger to end this volume on!!!! I hope I don't have to wait another year.
I'm glad it doesn't end with Pray in the Abyss because whilst Asami finally says I love you - it is quite a dark and seemingly tragic conclusion.
Loved seeing Fei Long and Mikhail hook up - they look so hot together. I am curious to see how that pans out.
This one's pretty plot/action heavy so there's not a huge amount of filler - we get two shorts, which make up for the lack of smut scenes with our two leading men - The Day Akihito Takaba's Pumpkin Pudding Disappeared - Which doesn't have a whole lot of plot but gives some nice sexy scenes of Asami and Akihito. The second story Akihito Takaba's target in the viewfinder is...? is much more sweet and romantic short, although still has some sexy moments.
Over all though loved this one - its at the top end of the genre with beautiful, detailed art, great supporting characters (Fei Long is so cool!) and lots of action and excitement. Needless to say I'll be pre-ordering volume 12. Love this series.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Asami,Fei Long and Mikhail manage to get rid of most of their enemies in the showdown in Macao.
Akihito goes to help Asami, only to find him in an ambush, and by giving him an out,Asami ends up shot by Sudo.Asami and Akihito end up falling and getting injured when the building collapses on them and end up in the hospital.
We see cameos from Asami's brother and one from his childhood friend, because they took him from the hospital.
This volume ends in a cliffhanger as Akihito disappeared from the hospital same time as Asami but by different people,to be used against him.
The drama!! Oh my god. This was a very action packed volume and I hate that I have to wait however long to get the next volume after that cliff hanger!! Like did he get brainwashed?? What's going on here.
Loved the Mikhail x Fei Long. Also Akihito and Asami have moved forward a lot emotionally :') I was just thinking about how they started out and then there was a come back to volume one in the bonus story lol. The birthday extra was pretty cute too.
Into the Abyss storyline comes to an explosive end. This volume is more about the mafia war than Asami and Akithito's relationship. And the cliffhanger ending made me glad I waited until volume 12 came out before reading this one.
There seemed to be some changes in how the characters were drawn. Fei Long for example looked different, as did some minor characters--and not in a good way. There were also fewer extra stories in the special edition than before.
As Asami and his syndicate prepare for war against the Russian mafia, Akihito is sidelined once again, much to his dismay. But when Asami and his team are lead into a trap, Akihito decides to take action. In this eleventh volume of Finder, which is easily the best of the series so far, the Pray in the Abyss arc comes to its dramatic, action-packed, steamy conclusion. And can we talk about that cliffhanger?!
End of an arc. Start of another, but why does it have to end in a cliffhanger, ahhhh! There's a lot of time jumps in here, and close calls. More action, and less spicy stuff, though that's what the bonus chapters are for ;) Don't worry everyone, volume 12 is already out in Japan, waiting for that English version now!
Damn!! Just when you think you're getting the conclusion to one arch, the whip lash you get from the next one! Holy!! Also Mikhail and Fei are becoming my new favourite!! I love how they're falling for each other and yet .... still fight! My favourite flavour!! Also that TWIST!!!! Yes!!! Please!! Brilliant!!!!
Mi vol fav!! Sigo sin superar el inicio caótico y la catarsis en esas últimas páginas. Sufriré por otra década más para ver el desenlace de las consecuencias de este final porque sensei se toma su tiempo y le encanta hacernos sufrir.
Wow! Such an action packed story and emotional ride! I even got invested in the whole Yuri and Mikhail story. I was also not expecting that kind of cliffhanger! Also, I enjoyed the bonuses this time. Especially the Asami birthday bonus.
Um...Holy...s**t. There's the conclusion to once story arc but then the start of a new one with a major cliffhanger 😱 The bonus content was so cute though but damn
Five stars just because after reading some in a row that were okay, this one deserves a star just because it wasn’t bad. I loved it and I can’t wait for the next one.
I've enjoyed this whole series and was excited to purchase this most recent volume. I like the exploration of Mikhail and Fei Long's frenemies with benefits dynamic. I'm also excited to read more of the next arc. I love a honey pot gambit.
Schlimmster Cliffhänger überhaupt!!! Aber wie immer ein super Band von einer meiner Lieblingsserien ❤️ Ich hoffe Band 12 lässt nicht zu lange auf sich warten!
