Luckily for Asta, he receives the incredibly rare five-leaf clover grimoire that gives him the power of anti-magic. Can someone who can't use magic really become the Wizard King? One thing's for sure—Asta will never give up!
Having finally mastered Devil Union, Asta must head to the Spade Kingdom to help his friends. But he’s gonna need some help getting there. And will he be ready for the devilish terrors that await him?
Yūki Tabata (Japanese: 田畠裕基, Hepburn: Tabata Yūki) is a Japanese manga artist.
After working as an assistant to Toshiaki Iwashiro, he created the one-shot Hungry Joker, which was later serialized as a full series. After its conclusion, he launched Black Clover.
Con los demonios me pasa lo mismo que con los elfos, llega un punto en el que son inaguantables, pero la entrada del tío del fuego (¿Magma, se llamaba?) está guay.
I had high hopes for this one and I can safely say that I am satisfied. A lot of things are going on in this book. Nacht shines from beginning till the end and I loved every second of it. The majority of the volume is dedicated to the fight between Nacht and Lilith and Nahamah (the two demons who showed up earlier) and then Asta and Liebe also joins the fight. There is also a flashback about Nacht and I LOVED that little twist they pulled. The last 2 chapters focus on Magna who will soon fight Dante it seems. It was a really good volume but I feel like we are very close to the end.
Another banger volume from the great Tabata. It has all the great action that you could hope for in a Shonen manga but it also has an incredible character backstory for Nacht. Genuinely has cemented him as one of my favorite characters and that’s saying something since Black Clover is such a masterpiece in character writing.

One of the best volumes in the series. So much happens in 29. The fights and unique, clever abilities showcased in this volume are incredible. Especially in the case of Magna. One of the single coolest moments in the series now belongs to Magna. It felt immensely satisfying to read.
Battaglie carine, bei power up... molto bello il finale, un incantesimo del genere non me l'aspettavo e meno ancora mi sarei mai aspettato di vedere quello scontro
The action and chaos never stops here in Volume 29! Highlights: - Lilith and Naamah try to take down Nacht, and as high-level devils, they should be having no problem. But the Vice Captain of the Black Bulls has many demons at his beck and call. Just as they are about to break him.... - Asta has finally mastered Devil Union (but only for 5 minutes) and saves Nacht. He is able to use a new Third Sword, Demon Destroyer, as well as a HUGE version of First Sword, Demon Slayer, and Second Sword, Demon Dweller, to completely destroy the merged Demon sisters - For the second fight of the book (to be continued next time!) Magna goes to take on one of the Dark Triad, Dante. Normally there would be no match there, but Zora taught Magna how to work with complicated arrays, taking long amounts of time to set them up. Took half a year to set up, but "Soul Chain Death Match" links Magna and Dante's souls, takes their combined power and cuts it in half for each of them. (Ex. if Dante has 999 power and Magna has 1 power, now they both have 500.) Dante gets way weaker than he has been and Magna gets a huge power burst! (This fight is going to be epic to see finish!)
Overall, another good Volume. Can't wait to see good triumph hugely over these evil forces. Who will show off amazing new abilities? Recommend.
This was Nacht’s volume, hands down. Not only do we get to see his backstory, but we see what has been driving him all these years as the Black Bulls vice-captain and why he prefers to keep to the shadows.
Asta also gets to show off his abilities now that he can achieve his Devil Union, and, oh boy, does our boy come in hot. Those creepy devil ladies never stood a chance. The only thing is, his devil form isn’t entirely complete as he can only maintain it for 5 minutes at the moment, and once that time is up, he can’t use that form for half an hour. This is likely to change sometime in the future, but, for now, it’s what Asta is working with.
The volumes closes out with Zora and Magna of all people going up against Dante. Magna has invented a spell that allows him to connect his soul with his opponent, and steal some of their mana, in order to put them on an equal playing field. I love this spell, because it’s so unique to this world, and we’ve not seen anything like it yet. It also works great with a character like Magna, who has been overshadowed by his overpowered squad members for some time now. It’s nice to see that Tabata hasn’t forgotten about even the lower members of the Black Bulls and I hope they all get a chance to shine in this arc.
They’ve all found ways to insanely boost their magic in order to fight the devils from the underworld. All the devils running out of it made me laugh though because it was just crazy. I have no idea how they’re going to keep fighting them let alone actually defeat them. Is Asta’s anti-magic really going to be enough to save everyone and close the underworld? I don’t think so. I doubt it. I’d also be surprised if this didn’t end with a character’s death.
Nacht and Luck were my favorites in this volume. I loved Nacht’s background. I found it so interesting. It made me like his character a lot more and helped make sense of his character. It reminded me of Muichiro and Yuichiro from Demon Slayer. Luck’s power and speed now are just as insane as he is. The cheery berserker.
So why does Yuno look like an elf still? Did the elf soul actually pass on or does it still live within Yuno? Hmmm.
The assault on the Spade Kingdom (or at least the Dark Triad) has begun, but demons from the first circle are pouring out of the rift to the underworld. But don't worry, the cavalry of Clover Kingdom Magic Knights is here... to- What? We're not doing that? Huh? Why are we having a flashback to a few minutes ago? Oh- okay... this is fi- WHY ARE WE HAVING A FLASHBACK WITHIN A FLASHBACK?!
I mean, I guess we need to give every character some sort of tragic backstory so they can draw on their trauma and "new-spell-ex-Machina" their way out of a lethal fight.
But this volume really picks up in the last half because Asta shows up with a couple other Black Bull brawlers and it's time for a beatdown.
This was a really awesome volume; Nacht is dope as hell and his backstory is awesome, seeing Luck and them pull up was a gangster set of panels, and asta dueling high level devils was excellent. Overall some of the best storytelling in the series so far imo and lots of really great moments. Holy shit and Magnas new ability is absolutely cracked. Giving him an ability like that not only shows a new and more sophisticated side of the Magic system but also shows that a fairly low level player has the potential to jump up to strongest in the verse just like that, both of which are very exciting!🔥 I did have to laugh at the “oh no, now I can’t use my powers for another 30 minutes” plot device for asta but hey gotta do what you gotta do lmfao
Been a while since I read this manga. Didn't realize / forgot I was in the middle of a big battle.... Well, doesn't matter too much, I guess, since a lot of this is just Asta coming in and fighting Naamah and Lilith. So it was more or less easy to regain my bearings.
The True Magic attacks are kind of... well, they're just Kamehameha beams, aren't they? ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Luck's Ultimate Lightning Magic: Lightning Battle Fiend is pretty cool.
Magna's Secret Flame Magic: Soul Chain Death Match is cool as well. But it's also kind of just the knife game Chuu does in YYH. Which is still cool, so... whatever.

What was a lighter action sequence page count in the previous volume, is long forgotten in this action-packed volume of Black Clover! Asta and the gang are going all out, (as per the usual for this group of competitive magicians. The challenge…. greatest one yet! But the team is up for the challenge. Because of the volume of action sequences this becomes a faster read than previous volumes, but you won't mind with the consistently quality artwork by Yuki Tabata. Another solid entry that will leave you impatiently waiting for more!
Asta gets to fight! What a shame that his ultimate form looks stupid, and that the devils also look ridiculous and stupid, so the whole thing is laughable. HOW BIG IS THAT SWORD, BRO?
Oh and makes a reappearance with some cool bullshit. Really this volume starts and ends with supporting characters showing up, somehow being OP, and just making it work so these big threats don't feel so big anymore.
Flashbacks reveal Nacht's past as he attempts to handle two Devils at once. A timely intervention by Asta leads to another massive throwdown, before Magna steps up to bat with a new technique that might make it possible for him to finish off Dante once and for all. Lots of fist-pump moments, and some surprisingly heartfelt backstory.
LOTS of Good stuff. Charmy's ULTIMATE COTTON BEAM! Evil twin angst. Shorty & his bro-demon becoming battle buddies. and MAGNA SWING BECOMING RELEVANT AGAIN! Basically, if mages are acting uppity because of their magic powers, gotta show em that THE FIST is still the supreme power amongst men! Just keeps getting better every volume!
My favourite volume so far! I absolutely loved Nacht's backstory, love that everyone arrived at the battle, love Magna's new power (badass!) and obviously Asta and Liebe are the best! Only thing missing to make this perfect, is Yuno. Can't wait for the next volume!
One thing I both loved and hate about this series, aside it from feeling so underrated, is how with these last few volumes you get more questions than you do answers and you wonder to yourself: how are y'all gonna wrap this up? How does it all connect?
Nice to see even more people show up again showing how much they have changed since their last appearance. Some surprises were like Magna and Zora. I did like they did try to do more with Nacht and I do like what they did especially with the twist surrounding who he actually is.
